In honor of mothers day we thought we would write about a favorite material that we love to use, mother of pearl. Mother of Pearl is very strong, resilient and iridescent. A similar description can be given to our mothers who shine brightly in our lives.

Lacquered walls are a lot like wallpaper. It’s an opportunity to be bold with color and add a bit of shine to a space. Walls with lacquered paint can be modern or traditional, soft or strong and masculine or feminine.

If you want a bit of sheen, but not a full-time commitment to color, lacquer looks just as chic in white or ivory.

Wrap the room in the shade of your choice or add sheen to just the ceiling. Either is a great way to be daring with your décor.

At market I noticed rope being used on lighting, furniture and it got me to looking at rope detail in fashion as well as interiors. Maybe it’s the approaching summer and thoughts of the beach, but it’s interesting to see how rope can be used as a design detail.
