This year, the good folks at AIGA New York asked if I'd like to design one of the wrapping papers for their 2007 Holiday Party. Being quite the holiday enthusiast, I agreed, and put together a snazzy wrapping paper depicting four of the many cultural iterations of Santa Claus.

The only downside is that the wrapping paper isn't really available for purchase. In lieu of that, I have created a few desktop wallpapers to help spread my yuletide message of... uh... appreciating wallpapers with different Santas. Enjoy!

Time to dress up your computer, in the most festive of outfits: ones you get for free. These desktops are based on the Mojo's Goodwill comic, pictured above. Feel free to view the article to get a closer look at the comic, or even to leave a comment about how an inordinate number of Santas are arrowed-down each year, and how comics like this only increase the frequency of arrow-related holiday slayings. Hate these colors?

Just a note for you expert (or not-so-expert) photoshop users out there — should you wish to tweak the background color a little, these desktops are designed so that you can just use the "Hue/Saturation" filter on the .jpg, and it won't affect the black & white Mojo drawing. So feel free to change the desktop to whatever color of the 'bow you want, even though it's a flattened image.

Keep your desktop clean with a wallpaper of watercolor washes! And coincidentally, the washes form the image of a bear! And even more coincidentally, this site is bearskinrug, so a bear is an appropriate image for a wallpaper!

I have taken the liberty of creating desktops at a few different sizes. While I wish I could accommodate the 750 different variations of desktop dimensions, I only had time to do four:

From Favorite Website Awards, asking if I'd like to do a collaborative wallpaper for the launch of their new site. So I said "Sure!"

I searched through my pictures for a while, looking for something that would work, when I stumbled upon this photo of these orange sandbags. I took the picture at the Food Network, where my friend Jon works - he informed me that the bags are used to steady cameras, but people use them for all sorts of other things — in this case, a doorstop.

One note on this wallpaper. My approach to desktops is to just post the biggest one possible — which is usually 1600x1200 — and let the user cut it down to different sizes. However, for FWA, I created different variable sizes. So feel free to jump over there to grab a wallpaper for your 1280x1024 desktop. Or — God bless your perseverance if you need this one — your 800x600 desktop.
