International Performance Research (MAIPR) - Erasmus Mundus Scholarships

Overview

The Erasmus Mundus MA in International Performance Research (MAIPR) is a 16-month programme aimed at students with a particular interest and/or background in the performing arts, therefore those who may wish to pursue a career in or add value to already existing skills in aspects of arts practice or pursue an academic career through advanced study, perhaps leading to a Ph.D.

The ideal candidate has a strong academic background and also experience with creative practice in theatre and/or performance. You may be in your final year of an undergraduate degree or have been working in a performance-related profession or area. The current MAIPR intakes are truly international, made up of students from all continents (except Antartica!) We have students who have entered straight after finishing their undergraduate degrees in performance-related disciplines and others who have worked as directors, choreographers, curators, dancers and actors. You should bear in mind, however, that MAIPR is not a practical training programme. What it will do is help you develop and enhance your theoretical knowledge about performance-related issues, and it will certainly add value to your already existing skills base.

Funded by the European Commission, the MAIPR from autumn 2011 will be offered by four internationally renowned academic institutions:

The University of Warwick in the UK; the Universiteit van Amsterdam (the University of Amsterdam) in The Netherlands; the Univerzitet Umetnosti u Beogradu (University of Arts Belgrade) in Serbia; and the Helsingin Yliopisto (the University of Helsinki) in Finland.

Scholarship

Category A scholarships (€34,000) are aimed at covering all the costs of the programme, therefore fees, travel and living expenses over 16 months. For 2012-13, we will be awarding the following number of scholarships:

7 scholarships for eligible third-country applicants (therefore those whose nationality and place of abode are outside of the EU/EEA/EFTA area).
3 additional scholarships may become available to applicants from the following three areas: West Balkans and Turkey (1 scholarship); Tunisia and Egypt (1 scholarship); Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine (1 scholarship). The MAIPR Consortium, however, is not yet in a position to confirm if we are getting these scholarships; further advice will be uploaded in due course.

Applicants must have lived, studied and/or worked for LESS THAN a cumulative period of 12 months within the EU/EEA/EFTA area as at 31 January 2012. After the € 12 000 programme fee has been deducted from the EM scholarship, you will receive € 24 000. This amount is made up as follows:

€ 8 000 travel and installation allowance
€ 16 000 monthly stipend

The above will usually be paid in 16 x monthly instalments of € 1 500. The first payment will be made shortly after arrival at your home university.

Category B scholarships (€17,000) are considered as financial contributions rather than full scholarships. For 2012-13 we will be awarding the following number of scholarships: 5 scholarships for eligible EU/EEA/EFTA applicants, also third-country applicants who have lived, studied and/or worked for MORE THAN a cumulative period of 12 months within the EU/EEA/EFTA area as at 31 January 2012. After the programme fee has been deducted from the EM scholarship, an EU student will receive € 8 000 living allowance a €3 000 travel and installation allowance. This will be paid at a rate of €687.50.

EM scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. It is therefore important that your MAIPR application is as strong as possible as competition for the scholarships is very strong. You should also bear in mind that you may be accepted onto the MAIPR programme but not be awarded a scholarship. Remember: if your application for the 2012-13 MAIPR is received after the 3rd-January 2012 deadline or it is incomplete on that date, unfortunately we cannot enter you into the EM scholarship competition.

Eligibility

Students with a particular interest and/or background in the performing arts, therefore those who may wish to pursue a career in or add value to already existing skills in aspects of arts practice or pursue an academic career through advanced study, perhaps leading to a Ph.D. You need to demonstrate that you have good enough English to study. This is usually done by taking one of the University of Warwick`s accepted language tests, as follows: IELTS (British Council International Testing System) Passing score of at least 7; or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Passing score of at least 620 (paper based) or 260 (computer based) or 105 (internet-based iBT)

If you are unable to apply on-line, you can send in a paper application. You need to request the application form from the University of Warwick`s Student Recruitment department, via student.recruitment@warwick.ac.uk . If you choose this option, it is your responsibility to make sure that the completed application form and all the required support documents are sent to Postgraduate Admissions in enough time to arrive by the relevant MAIPR deadline. You must also include the application fee (Warwick`s Postgraduate Admissions levy a non-refundable application handling fee for all taught postgraduate courses, including the MAIPR. You will be given directions by email on how to do this once you have submitted and paid for your application. To be entered into the 2012-13 Erasmus Mundus scholarship competitions, ALL of your support documentation, including both references, must have been received on or by 3rd January 2012. If your application is incomplete on that date, regretably we will be unable to put you into the EM scholarship competition. You must therefore contact both your referees in enough time to allow them to prepare their references so they can be received by the deadline. One scholarship is offered each year for enrollment in the Stanford Sloan Master`s Program, a 10 ½ month, full-time program leading to the degree of Master of Science in Management.

One of three degree programs at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Stanford Sloan Program provides an ideal learning environment for successful mid-career executives who are preparing for greater levels of leadership and responsibility within their organizations, or who may be choosing a new career path. Selection Criteria

This is a collaboration between A*STAR Graduate Academy (A*GA) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, citizens of ASEAN countries and other international students seeking admission as full-time Ph.D. research candidates in NTU are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

Master Scholarships in Systems Biology, Erasmus Mundus, Europe

The Erasmus Mundus master`s programme in Systems Biology (euSYSBIO) is a cooperation between KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden (KTH), Instituto Superior Tecnologico in Portugal (IST) and Aalto University school of Science and Technology in Finland. It is a two-year Master`s programme including compulsory mobilty for the students. Students enter at KTH or Aalto University and continue in the second year at one of the other two institutions.

The euSYSBIO programme offers education of high international standard as well as cultural experience from two different European countries and a double degree from two universities.

Candidates who apply for an Erasmus Mundus Master Programme are at the same time considered for a scholarship nomination for this specific programme. The scholarships are awarded to the highest ranked candidates that fulfill the following scholarship conditions.

* clearly above average university degree
* uninterrupted studies (in case your total study period took more than 13 semester/ 6,5 years please explain in the application form)
* the start of your doctoral research project should not extend a period of time of 12 months with reference to the application deadline; we concede reasonable exceptions – please explain in the application form
* the university degree qualifying for doctoral studies has to be submitted at the latest until November 10, 2010 before the applications will be given to the faculties for further survey and expertise (Bachelor degree in case of fast track procedure plus information about grades already obtained in the master studies)
* candidates who have to fulfil additional requirements are also allowed to apply for a grant (first supervisor is responsible for compatibility between fulfilment of requirements and successful doctorate)

Admission process and decision (2 stage process)

* a signed hardcopy of the application form with 2 letters of reference and all necessary documents have to be sent to the Central Coordination Office until October 31, 2010
* on the basis of the application the faculties and rapporteurs will suggest a preliminary ranking of the candidates
* on the basis of this preliminary ranking the Executive Board will invite the best candidates (January 2011) for a research colloquium
* research colloquium and the ensuing choice and recommendation by the rapporteurs will take place on February 7, 2011
* the final decision of the Executive Board will be made on February 9, 2011

Type of funding and amount
The grant amounts to 1.000,- Euro per month, children`s allowance amounts to 100,- Euro per month in addition.

Period of funding and of approval
Max. 36 months of funding are provided, whereas the period of first approval comprises 12 months. We offer 2 times for prolongation – each comprising 12 months - after having reviewed the progress reports.

Interruption
In case of illness the grant will be paid for further 6 weeks. In case of pregnancy the grant payment will be intermitted for a time period of 14 weeks (6 weeks before and 8 weeks after childbirth). The approval may be extended for this period of time respectively.

Secondary employment
During the funding period a short-time work of max. 6 hours per week is allowed

Duties of the grantee

* participation in the structured doctoral training programme of the Research School, follow the Individual Training and Supervision Plan of the Research School, take actively part in the Research School
* communicate immediately all important changes of the personal conditions as well as interruptions, changes or abandonment of the research project
* adequate use of the grant

University of Canterbury Doctoral Scholarships are tenable for study towards the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Canterbury.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a scholarship, an applicant must have met the academic requirements for enrolment in the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Canterbury on 10 December (for those applying by 15 October), or 15 June (for those applying by 15 May) in the year of application.

Students already enrolled for the PhD at the University may apply for a scholarship, although this will normally be considered only for students in their first or second year of study.

Developing Countries VLIR-UOS Scholarships for Students

Overview

VLIR-UOS awards scholarships to students from developing countries so that they can follow a master or training programme in Belgium. These scholarships cover all related expenses. Every year, VLIR-UOS awards up to 180 scholarships to first-year master students and 70 scholarships to training participants.

All programmes are specifically designed for people in positions of responsibility in civil society (e.g. universities, schools, NGOs, local communities, governments).

The target group for master programmes comprises students from developing countries. Training programmes are tailored to people from developing countries with a certain degree of professional experience.

Although these programmes are primarily oriented towards students and professionals from developing countries, they are also open to other people.

Applicants applying for both academic admission and a VLIR-UOS scholarship need to consider both the admission requirements and the scholarship criteria. Applicants applying for academic admission but not for a scholarship simply need to fulfill only the admission requirements of the host university running the programme.

The host university is in charge of the academic admission of applications. Study results will be taken into consideration during the selection, but the most important academic selection criteria are relevant professional experience and prospects for applying the acquired insights after return to the developing country. The academic admission requirements are specific to every programme. Please peruse the requirements from the relevant programme.

A joint selection committee of VLIR-UOS and the host university is responsible for selecting scholarships. The host university – not the applicant – forwards the scholarship applications to the VLIR-UOS secretariat if the academic admission requirements are met. Monash University Fully funded PhD Studentship in Dendrimer Synthesis

Overview

We seek an outstanding PhD candidate with a background in synthetic organic chemistry to develop a new class of dendritic molecules, and to study their applications. The position is fully funded, both fees and stipend, for four years.

Project description

The successful candidate will investigate a new method for the synthesis of a library of dendrimers with variations in the sizes and shapes of the monomers, and of the strength and character of the forces between them. One aim of the project is to make dendrimers carrying a variety of functionality, and with the flexibility of the synthetic strategy, engineer the molecules for solubility, surface activity, and assembly into larger structures.

Measurement of the conformations of the dendrimers using Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) is part of the project, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience with this method at the Australian Synchrotron, collocated with Monash University. Computer models for the dendrimer conformations will be tested by the SAXS methods.

Monash University has Australia's leading chemistry school, ranking 64th in Shanghai's Jiao Tong Index. Monash is one of only three Australian universities ranked in the global top 100 for Chemistry, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). Institut D'Optique Graduate School Master Scholarship in Optics in Science and Technology

Learning Objectives and outcomes

Students enrolled in the two-year programme will study in two different countries of their choice, spending one year in each and offering the opportunity to acquire 60 European Credit Transfer System units (ECTS) per year. Students are trained for technical or scientific positions in academic or industrial environment specialised in optics or using optics. PhD studies are a natural extension of the Course.

Mobility scheme: each student spends the first year at one of the five sites and the second year at one of the other four sites.

The language of instruction is English. Students are offered the possibility to learn the local language as part of the programme. Courses are taught by research staff members. The student population is multinational with a professor/student ratio of about 2.

Erasmus Mundus grants for non-EU students ("Category A" from 2010-11)

OpSciTech is one of the Master Courses selected by the prestigious Erasmus Mundus framework of the European Commission through which students from non-European Uni0n countries are eligible for two-year grants of € 24,000 per year. For 2010/2011, a total of 10 Erasmus Mundus grants are available for these students ("general category") and additionally 1 or 2 specifically for students from "special windows", namely Western Balkans and Turkey. EM grants are awarded on the basis of merit by the European Commission under proposition of the OpSciTech board.

For whom does this apply?

Students from non-EU countries are defined as:

nationals coming from all countries other than the 27 EU Member States

who are not residents of any of the above countries

who have not carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above countries.

Additionally, for 2010/11, the extra-grant "special windows" is reserved for students from:

Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo under UNSC Resolution 1244/99, Montenegro, Serbia) and Turkey.

Erasmus Mundus grants for European students ("Category B" from 2010-11)

For 2010/2011, a total of 8 Erasmus Mundus grants of maximum € 23,000 for two years are available for students from the 27 EU members, or from the AELE – i.e. from Iceland, Liechtenstein or from Norway – on condition that their institution of origin is not a Partner of the OpSciTech Consortium. EM grants are awarded on the basis of merit by the European Commission under proposition of the OpSciTech board.

"Regular" Erasmus Grants:
EU students can apply for an Erasmus student grant. However, the Erasmus student grant cannot cover the totality of the 2-year OpSciTech programme. In practice, the university in which the European student starts the OpSciTech programme may grant an Erasmus student grant for the student's study period at the second hosting institution within the Erasmus Mundus Masters consortium. Erasmus student grant can cover a mobility period of 12 months maximum (~1,500 €/year). EU students already enrolled in the last year of their Bachelor programme (or equivalent) in any of the partner institutions of the OpSciTech consortium can apply for an Erasmus student grant from their 1st year spent abroad out of their institution of origin.

SPIE scholarships (SPIE, international society for advancement of science and application of light) Through 2009 SPIE has distributed over $2.8 million in scholarships to 1,233 students across 86 countries. SPIE awarded over $300,000 in 2010 with individual scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $11,000. Applications are available here and the submission deadline for 2011 is January 15, 2011. Overview

The Erasmus Mundus master's programme in Systems Biology (euSYSBIO) is a cooperation between KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden (KTH), Instituto Superior Tecnologico in Portugal (IST) and Aalto University school of Science and Technology in Finland. It is a two-year Master's programme including compulsory mobilty for the students. Students enter at KTH or Aalto University and continue in the second year at one of the other two institutions.

The euSYSBIO programme offers education of high international standard as well as cultural experience from two different European countries and a double degree from two universities.

Scholarship

Scholarship amounts to 21,000 Euro per academic year. This includes 10 monthly grants of 1,600 Euro and a fixed amount of 5,000 Euro for fees, travel expenses, relocation costs, etc. For courses lasting two years, the student receives double this amount, i.e. 42,000 Euro.

Overview

The rationale of the Masters of Lifelong Learning is to increase the awareness of European Lifelong Learning policies in a regional European context as well as on a global scale. It aims to provide policy-makers and professionals with responsibility for managing, delivering or supporting Lifelong Learning with opportunities to develop their own analysis and practice in what is a constantly changing economic, social, technological and policy environment.

Eligibility

The Master of Lifelong Learning seeks to form professionals able to:

Master Scholarship in Sustainable Regional Health Systems at Vilnius university

Overview
This European Master in Sustainable Regional Health Systems aims to fill the gap in Health Management by approaching the theme of health system management and planning on a regional level.

This Master promotes the benchmarking of the different health system models helping to construct the comprehensive health system management and planning, including both, health care and promotion, as well as the interrelation between health and socio-economic areas. It aims to spread out the European model of health promotion and health planning, sustainability and the role of health system in social cohesion and strengthening of social capital.

At the end of the Masters Course the students will graduate with Joint Master`s degree awarded by all Consortium universities and can work as middle and upper level managers in hospitals and health services as well as in regional and national administrative bodies related to public health planning and management in diverse sectors: health insurance, health financing, strategic planning, etc.

Admission
Admission may be granted to applicants who meet the following common admission criteria:

* A university degree in Sociology, Psychology, Law, Political Science, Anthropology, History, Medicine, Social Work, Social Education, Nursing, Public Health etc, that they want to specialize in the scope of the health.
* Candidates are required to have a recognized qualification in the language of instruction of the university that they plan to attend. Knowledge of languages of the place of study is an asset.
* A sufficient score of one of the following English language certificates (TOEFL, First Certificate, IELTS).
* Statement of intent. Applicants must submit a statement of intent indicating why the Master`s is relevant for future carrier.

For applicants who seek and are eligible for Erasmus Mundus “Category A” scholarships, and self-financing students application is open since 1st of July and will be closed in 2011 January.
