I’ve already sung my praises about Sephora’s baked cosmetics, and this travel-sized bronzer is going to stake a permanent spot in my travel bag for that reason alone (I’m in love with the full-size version, which is available separately here).

What I love most about the bronzer is that it features two shades, each with a different texture; a lighter, shimmery bronze on the left is great for giving a luminescent glow while the deeper, satin bronzer on the right is perfect for creating a flawless all-0ver natural glow. I use a blush brush to apply the bronzer, because it is so small it’s not really easy to grab each side individually with a large, fluffy brush.  You can of course, just mix the two sides together for a perfect harmony of both shades and textures.

The lip balm is pretty awesome too- if you love the smell of vanilla extract, you’ll love this lip balm. It glides on smoothly, and after a couple minutes, it reveals a glowing shade of pink that really just enhances the color of you lips. It lasts surprisingly long for a lip balm, with the color lingering a little longer than the hydrating feel. It’s quick and easy to apply sans mirror, making it the perfect beach bag companion.

This duo is a great, affordable summer face (the bronzer can be used as eyeshadow too FYI) or travel buddy!

The OPI Couture de Minnie Collection for Summer 2013 includes five OPI Nail Lacquers ($9 USD / $10.95 CAD) inspired by a fashionable, couture version of the classic Minnie Mouse character. The collection features two creams, one shimmer, one glitter and one of the new OPI LiquidSand textures, and will be available in June 2013.

The only thing really ‘couture’ about the collection is the names (and even those are a little too playful to be couture)- the collection is really just an extension to the Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection that launched last summer (remember it?). The colors are pink & red- nothing super original or unique… but still beautiful on their own.

The shades include…

Even though the collection didn’t excite me, it did impress me. A collection of pinks and reds has been done countless times, so a color really needs to have a unique twist to it or an interesting texture to grab my attention… but even with that said, they are all still lovely polishes. The quality is quite fantastic, with pigmented shades (A Definite Moust-Have is so pigmented that only one coat is really needed) and great textures. I do love seeing such variety in texture in a collection- with creams, glitters, shimmers and LiquidSand all together in a small collection.

My favorites are A Definite Moust-Have because of its unreal opacity (makes it quick and easy- and it’s just such a perfect pedicure color for summer) and Magazine Cover Mouse, because it’s one of the prettiest LiquidSand textures I’ve seen! I also liked how Minnie Style looked a bit like polka dots (even though I’m not a fan of confetti polish… I thought it was cute)!  They are all great, so if you personally don’t have anything like some of these in your collection, you won’t be disappointed if you pick up a few of them.

This week I’ve been wearing the NARS x Pierre Hardy Nail Lacquer ($29 USD / $32 CAD for two polishes) in Sharplines “Left” on my nails from the new NARS x Pierre Hardy Collection for Summer 2013. I love this peachy shade! I have nothing like it in my collection, and it almost leans a little on the orange side which I love- it reminds me of refreshing orange sherbet which is obviously perfect for summer. Unfortunately, it’s only available in a duo so the price is a little higher than a regular polish, but the good news is that Sharplines “Right” is a gorgeous, deep wine shade that will be perfect for fall!

It’s no secret that the Sephora MicroSmooth Baked collection of blushes, bronzers and highlighters rocks- every single product I’ve tried with the baked formula has been incredible! I was so excited to see that this summer, Sephora threw them all together in a single compact to create these Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Sculpting Trios ($20 USD / $23 CAD)- available in four shade varities.  Each compact is divided into three equal parts, featuring a matte bronzer, a satin blush and a shimmery highlighter.

I might be a little biased, but this compact in Sweet is totally the best one (I haven’t tried the others, but these three shades are just so perfect)! When I first saw the compact, I was scared it was going to be shimmer city- but after close inspection, I noticed that the powders actually had different textures (yes!!!) which is exactly what you want from these three products.  The bronzer is a deep golden bronze (a tad on the warm side), the blush is a beautiful mid-tone rose and the highlighter is a pale champagne pink.

The pigmentation is lovely, the texture is smooth and blendable and all three shades work in such beautiful harmony. The only thing I’d change about this compact would be the proportions of the powders- I would have liked to see 1/2 of the pan dedicated to the bronzer (which is a little hard to grab with a large fluffy brush) and 1/4 to each the blush and highlighter, of which much less is needed anyways. Either way, the value is incredible and it’s a good start.

This product would make for an excellent travel buddy- taking the place of bronzer, blush and highlighter all in a compact that can fit in your pocket.

Brand new this season from Bobbi Brown comes a new lip color formulation that delivers an effortless wash of color and nourishing shine- the Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Color ($25 USD / $29 CAD) is available in 14 beautiful shades, from soft neutrals to bright pops of color to deep, sultry shades. The new lip color comes in a sleek, shiny black tube with a slant-tip bullet for that quick & easy application.

Bobbi Brown has been one of my favorite brands for a long time, so I always get new excited when she launches a new product- I just have to try it! These sheer lip colors sounded pretty intriguing, claiming to be ‘fool-proof’ and so easy to apply you don’t even need a mirror. While I do love my full coverage lip colors, it is nice to have a couple sheers in the collection (especially in the purse) for a quick and easy tint of color. I prefer sheer colors, especially when it comes to deep and dark shades, because I feel a little more comfortable knowing a tiny smudge will be a cinch to clean up.

The shades I have include Peachy, a shimmering golden peach, Bobbi, a nude brown and Pink Blossom, a coral red. All three colors are stunning and very wearable… but there’s just one problem here.

They’re not sheer at all.

You would think with “Sheer” being right in the name, that these lip colors would glide on with almost just a tint of color… perhaps like a tinted lip balm. These lipsticks are more pigmented than some medium-coverage lipsticks I own! I was quite surprised with how much of a full-coverage finish they had, especially Pink Blossom.

All things considered, they are awesome lipsticks… I love the color range, the texture and the glossy finish. They still are quite easy to apply and feel very comfortable on the lips- so I do like them. For those searching for a sheer tinted lipbalm-like lip color, you’re definitely not going to find them here. You’ll find a lovely lipstick, but not a sheer one. If I had to compare them to a MAC texture, I’d say they are comparable to a Lustre finish.

These lipsticks left me feeling a bit confused- I loved them, but not for what they were trying to claim to be. I guess that doesn’t really matter in the end if you’re a fan of them- but just be warned!
