Montegrappa has teamed up with Automobili Lamborghini to create a fountain pen inspired by the legendary Miura, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the supercar that helped define the modern mid-engine sports car. The standout feature is built directly into the cap. A miniature pop-up headlight made from natural rock crystal rises from its housing at the press of a button, recreating one of the Miura’s most recognizable design details in a surprisingly functional way.

The pen’s shape echoes the Miura’s rounded bodywork, while its black ribbed clip recalls the distinctive slatted details surrounding the original headlights. The end cap takes inspiration from the car’s louvered engine cover, and the barrel is available in three colors: Giallo Fly yellow, Verde Miura green, and black. Rather than simply printing the Lamborghini logo on a luxury writing instrument, Montegrappa has translated specific automotive features into the pen’s physical design.

The miniature headlight is more than a decorative sculpture. Its domed rock crystal element sits above an engraved base designed to resemble the texture of the original lamp reflector. A tactile push-button mechanism tilts it upward from a dark-rimmed recess, capturing the theatrical movement of the Miura’s headlights. The lamp does not illuminate, but its mechanical action gives the pen an interactive detail that collectors will find difficult to ignore.

Underneath the automotive styling, the fountain pen offers traditional high-end craftsmanship. It features an 18-karat gold nib with ruthenium plating and an engraved Lamborghini shield, paired with an ebonite feed. Buyers can choose nib sizes ranging from Extra Fine to Broad, as well as a 1.1 mm Stub option. The pen uses a cartridge or converter filling system, with both cartridges and a converter included.

Measuring 161 mm long and 20 mm across, the fountain pen weighs 87 grams. A rollerball version is also available, retaining the same overall design and pop-up headlight while replacing the fountain pen nib with a black conical tip. Both versions arrive in a lacquered wooden case lined with genuine leather inspired by the Miura’s interior.

Montegrappa is producing the collection in three colors, with 60 fountain pens and 60 rollerballs in each finish. That brings the total production to 360 pieces worldwide. The fountain pen is priced at €8,250, positioning it firmly in the realm of collectible luxury accessories rather than everyday stationery. Pre-orders are open, with deliveries expected to begin in mid-November 2026.

The collaboration follows Montegrappa and Lamborghini’s earlier partnership for the automaker’s 60th anniversary in 2023. This time, however, the design takes a more sculptural approach, drawing on the Miura’s flowing lines and distinctive mechanical details. Seiko has taken one of the most familiar nicknames in watch collecting and interpreted it almost literally. The new Power Design Project Panda Chronograph turns the traditional black-and-white “panda” dial into an actual panda face, complete with eyes, ears, nose and even a tail on the caseback. Despite the playful design, it remains a fully functional chronograph with a surprisingly thoughtful set of details.

The idea originated at Seiko’s Incredibly Specialized Watch Exhibition in 2024, where designer Kiyotaka Sakai asked a simple question: what would a watch look like if “panda” described the animal rather than just the dial configuration? The resulting concept proved popular enough to become a production watch, with the new HHK001P and HHK002P staying remarkably close to the original design.

The panda’s face is cleverly constructed from the chronograph itself. The two dark subdials become its drooping eyes, while the chronograph pushers rise above the case like rounded ears. A small nose and curved mouth sit at six o’clock, giving the watch an unexpectedly expressive personality. The dial’s radial texture is designed to suggest panda fur, while the hour and minute hands are shaped like bamboo leaves.

Seiko even gave the tachymeter a panda-themed name. Called “SASAMETER,” after sasa, the Japanese word associated with bamboo, the scale remains fully functional. Seiko notes that it could theoretically be used to measure a panda running at around 30 km/h.

The watch comes in a 43mm stainless-steel case measuring 14.6mm thick. Hidden lugs help keep the profile visually clean, while the recessed crown sits between the two ear-like pushers. Turn it over and the joke continues with a rounded caseback representing the panda’s back and a small three-dimensional tail.

Inside is Seiko’s quartz Caliber 8T61. It provides hours, minutes, central chronograph seconds and a 60-minute counter with 1/5-second measurement. Accuracy is rated at ±15 seconds per month, and the watch has 30-meter water resistance. A cowhide leather strap with suede-like sections completes the design.

There are two versions. The HHK001P uses the familiar black-and-white panda palette and is limited to 3,000 pieces. The pink-and-gray HHK002P takes inspiration from newborn pandas, whose skin is pink before their familiar black-and-white coloring develops. It is limited to 2,000 pieces. Both are priced at $540 and are scheduled for release in November 2026.

Seiko could have simply produced another panda chronograph with contrasting subdials. Instead, it followed the nickname all the way to its logical conclusion, turning the entire watch into a small piece of wearable character design without sacrificing the functions that make a chronograph useful.

Lavvu takes a different approach to compact living by making the surrounding landscape part of the architecture. These modular mobile homes are designed around large areas of panoramic glazing, creating a strong visual connection with the outdoors while keeping the footprint remarkably small. The result is a collection of compact cabins suited to private retreats, guest accommodation and hospitality projects.

The range includes four sizes, from the 10-square-meter S model to the 22-square-meter XL. Despite their compact dimensions, the homes include the essentials of a conventional living space, including a kitchen, bathroom, sleeping area and integrated storage. Furniture is treated as part of the architecture rather than added afterward, helping make every centimeter useful without making the interiors feel unnecessarily crowded.

The largest XL model demonstrates the concept particularly well. Designed by Re , the 22-square-meter cabin combines a steel structure with custom furniture, underfloor heating and exterior steel shading. Large windows dominate the living space, allowing natural light to flood the interior and making the cabin feel considerably more spacious than its dimensions suggest.

Mobility is another important part of the concept. Rather than being tied to a traditional foundation and permanent building footprint, Lavvu’s modular format allows the homes to be used in a variety of locations. That makes them particularly interesting for remote retreats, nature-focused accommodations and hospitality developments where the setting is as important as the building itself.

The pricing reflects the level of finish and customization. The S model starts at €45,000, followed by the 14-square-meter M at €55,000 and the 18-square-meter L at €65,000. The 22-square-meter XL starts at €75,000, with prices listed before tax.

Lavvu’s appeal ultimately comes from its restraint. Instead of trying to squeeze a conventional house into a smaller box, the design treats compact living as an opportunity to focus on the essentials. Private aviation is getting a streetwear-inspired makeover. NOT A GARAGE is offering shares in a Gulfstream G500 designed by NIGO, the Japanese creative force behind A Bathing Ape and one of the most influential figures in contemporary street fashion. Rather than simply putting a familiar logo on an aircraft, the project aims to bring NIGO’s distinctive visual language into the entire flying experience.

The Gulfstream G500 is already an impressive platform. The long-range business jet can cruise at speeds approaching the sound barrier, with a maximum speed of Mach 0.925 and a range of roughly 6,100 miles. That makes nonstop routes such as Japan to Los Angeles or Sydney possible, turning the aircraft into something closer to a private international travel system than a conventional business jet.

NIGO’s proposed exterior gives the aircraft a much more recognizable identity. Renderings show the G500 covered in a matte deep olive green, with a contrasting copper-colored lower section. The livery has not been finalized, however, so the finished aircraft could ultimately look different from the current concept.

Inside, the aircraft is arranged around three separate living zones, along with a galley and lavatory. The idea is less about creating an extravagant flying lounge and more about making the cabin feel like a private space designed around its passengers. The service is designed to extend well beyond the aircraft itself. Through a dedicated app, owners will be able to book flights, arrange meals in advance and even gift flights to other people. The G500 is planned to be based at Narita International Airport, with flights scheduled to begin in December 2027. For now, the project is still taking shape, with waitlist registration open for those interested in becoming part of the aircraft’s ownership model.

Alfa Romeo has revealed the first bespoke commission from its new Bottega Alfa Romeo atelier, and the result is one of the most distinctive versions of the modern 33 Stradale. Named Perla Nera, or Black Pearl, the one-off supercar was created for an individual collector who wanted an unusually restrained interpretation of the already limited 33 Stradale. The car was unveiled at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese and is the only example in the 33-car series with a fully exposed carbon-fiber body.

The defining feature is also the reason the car took roughly three years to complete. Instead of covering the carbon-fiber body in paint, Alfa Romeo positioned every fiber by hand inside the molds so the weave itself becomes the exterior finish. The arrangement was carefully designed to emphasize the car’s sculpted surfaces, with a distinctive V-shaped motif across the hood and a herringbone pattern extending along the roof. The result is a matte black appearance that comes entirely from the exposed carbon rather than paint.

Going without paint also reduced the car’s weight. According to Alfa Romeo, Perla Nera is approximately 10 kg lighter than the painted 33 Stradale models. The body sits over the same carbon-fiber monocoque and aluminum H-frame chassis used by the standard car, so the bespoke treatment changes the visual character without altering its fundamental mechanical package.

The cabin follows the same dark, minimalist philosophy. Alcantara dominates the interior, complemented by exposed carbon-fiber elements and Alfa Romeo’s distinctive cannelloni-style quilting. The seats and headrests were redesigned specifically for the owner following dedicated fitting sessions. Even the Alfa Romeo gear selector carries the owner’s initials, while a matching black Alcantara luggage set features the car’s numbered production badge.

Underneath the bespoke bodywork, Perla Nera retains the 33 Stradale’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 producing more than 630 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Alfa Romeo quotes a 0–62 mph time of under three seconds and a top speed of 207 mph, putting the one-off firmly into supercar territory despite its highly personalized appearance.

Perla Nera is also effectively a showcase for what Bottegafuoriserie is intended to offer. The atelier serves Alfa Romeo and Maserati, giving customers the opportunity to commission much more individualized versions of their cars. In this case, the owner took the concept to an extreme by removing virtually every conventional exterior color and turning the carbon construction itself into the car’s defining design element.

The Perla Nera is the third 33 Stradale in the 33-car production run and will remain on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum through October 18, 2026, before returning to its owner. Most superyachts are designed to make life at sea as comfortable as possible. La Datcha takes a different approach. This 77-meter expedition yacht was created for people who want that same level of luxury while traveling to places where ordinary yachts simply cannot go.

Built by Damen Yachting as part of its SeaXplorer range, La Datcha combines an ice-class hull with the amenities of a private resort. Delivered in 2020, the six-deck yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests across six suites, supported by a crew and expedition team of around 25 people.

Its real purpose becomes clear from the equipment carried on board. La Datcha has space for two helicopters, with both aircraft able to be stored inside the below-deck hangar. There is also a three-person submersible, a dedicated diving center with a decompression chamber, expedition tenders, four WaveRunners, two rigid inflatable boats, and two snowmobiles.

That equipment allows the yacht to operate far beyond the usual Mediterranean and Caribbean cruising grounds. Its planned adventures include Antarctica, the Arctic, Greenland, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Southeast Asia. The yacht is built for long periods away from civilization. Yet the interior feels much more like a luxury resort than an expedition vessel. Guests have access to two Jacuzzis, a sauna and steam room, massage facilities, a fully equipped gym, spacious observation areas, and large windows designed to bring the surrounding landscape into the experience. The bow observation lounge offers expansive forward views, while the upper deck provides an open-air platform for taking in the scenery.

The contrast is what makes La Datcha so interesting. One moment it can function as a floating luxury retreat, and the next it can send guests beneath Antarctic waters in a submersible, into the Arctic by helicopter, or toward remote islands in an expedition tender.

La Datcha was designed around the idea that luxury should not mean staying close to civilization. It is essentially a private base camp that happens to have six decks, a spa, multiple helicopters, and enough equipment to turn some of the world’s most remote destinations into accessible adventures. Mizuno has pushed the race-day shoe into almost absurd territory with the new Hyperwarp 96, a carbon-plated racer that weighs approximately 96 grams for a single shoe in size 27 cm. That makes it one of the lightest high-stack racing shoes ever produced and puts it one gram below adidas’ Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 by the manufacturers’ published figures.

The number in the name is no coincidence. Mizuno has stripped away almost everything that does not contribute directly to performance, while still keeping a 39mm heel and 36mm forefoot stack. The resulting 3mm drop stays below World Athletics’ 40mm maximum for road racing, and Mizuno says the shoe is approved for competition.

The midsole is made entirely from a new material called MIZUNO ENERZY XP+ Limited Edition. Instead of molding the foam into its final shape, Mizuno machines the midsole and removes material from areas that are not considered essential. The approach helps explain how the company managed to combine a substantial amount of cushioning with such an extreme weight.

Beneath the foam sits a full-length 3D carbon-fiber Smooth Speed Plate. The unusual three-dimensional construction is designed to provide both propulsion and stability, while a cutout beneath the heel removes additional weight. Mizuno has effectively chosen to keep a full carbon plate while finding other places to save grams.

The upper takes the weight-saving philosophy even further. The Dual Skin Upper eliminates both conventional laces and internal straps, using a precisely engineered TPU-fiber structure instead. Different areas have different fiber densities and orientations, creating a tighter structure around the lower foot and a lighter construction higher up. The result is closer to a fitted shell than a traditional running-shoe upper.

There is also a surprisingly important story behind the development process. Mizuno says improvements to its Osaka research facilities now allow engineers to create a new prototype within roughly 48 hours after receiving feedback from testers. That rapid development cycle helped the company repeatedly refine the shoe while chasing its extreme weight target.

The Hyperwarp 96 will be produced in just 696 numbered pairs worldwide , with each shoe receiving a serial number and a special presentation box. The limited run is another reference to the 96-gram weight. Mizuno plans to release it on December 4, 2026, initially through its own online store and retail locations, with selected running retailers following in 2027. The Japanese price is ¥88,000, while European pricing has been reported at around €500.

For most runners, the Hyperwarp 96 will remain more of a technological showcase than an everyday racing shoe. With fewer than 700 pairs being produced, almost nobody will actually get to train or race in one. That may be the point. Mizuno says the technologies developed for the 96 will influence future Hyperwarp models, meaning the real legacy of this extraordinarily light shoe could be found in the more accessible running shoes that follow it. CIGA Design has created a watch that tells a remarkable mountaineering story in motion. The Everest China 65th Anniversary is the brand’s first automaton timepiece, combining a piece of genuine Mount Everest bedrock with a miniature mechanical scene depicting one of the defining moments of the first Chinese ascent of the mountain.

The watch commemorates the 1960 expedition that reached Everest through the North Ridge. At the treacherous Second Step, around 8,700 meters above sea level, climber Liu Lianman repeatedly attempted to overcome the obstacle before deciding to help his teammates by becoming a human foothold. Three members of the expedition eventually reached the summit the following morning.

CIGA Design has recreated that moment directly on the dial. A tiny climber slowly makes his way upward while another figure supports him from below, turning the dial into a miniature mechanical scene. The automaton activates at noon and midnight, completing its ascent in around five minutes before returning to its starting position for the next cycle.

The dial itself is made from genuine Everest bedrock collected near the mountain’s foothills. Because the stone is brittle and difficult to work with, each piece requires an extensive manufacturing process involving cutting, laser shaping, and CNC engraving. CIGA Design says the process takes around 30 days, meaning every dial retains its own natural texture and variations.

The watch is housed in a 45mm Grade 5 titanium case measuring 13.6mm thick. Instead of conventional hour markers, engraved notches around the case indicate the hours. The skeletonized hands are shaped like mountaineering ice axes and use Swiss Super-LumiNova for visibility in low light.

Powering the automaton is CIGA Design’s self-developed CD-10 automatic movement. It operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, uses 21 jewels, and provides a 42-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through the sapphire caseback, where the words attributed to Liu Lianman during the climb are engraved as another connection to the story.

The climbing theme continues onto the black fluororubber strap. The North Ridge route is embossed into the material, tracing the journey from approximately 5,200 meters to Everest’s 8,848.86-meter summit. CIGA Design also says that a mountaineer and longtime friend of the brand wore a one-off version of the watch while reaching the summit via the North Ridge in May 2025, completing an unusual connection between the original expedition and the modern timepiece.

The Everest China 65th Anniversary is priced at $1,699, although CIGA Design’s current international store lists it at $2,059. The watch is water resistant to 50 meters and comes with a hidden 316L steel clasp.

Rather than simply placing an Everest logo on a conventional watch, CIGA Design has built the entire object around the mountain and the people who climbed it. The rock becomes the dial, the climbing route becomes the strap, the ice axes become the hands, and the ascent itself becomes a mechanical animation. The result is less a conventional commemorative watch than a miniature piece of mountaineering history that happens to keep time. The phrase “rock guitar” has finally been taken completely literally. A creator known as BeBeau Builds has constructed a fully playable acoustic guitar using actual slate stone instead of the wood traditionally used for guitar bodies.

The project started with an ordinary acoustic guitar. BeBeau kept its neck and fretboard, then built an entirely new body around them using 18 individually cut pieces of slate. The stone sections were mounted around a 3D-printed internal skeleton, creating a rigid structure strong enough to handle the tension of the strings.

Slate turned out to be a surprisingly practical material for the experiment. Unlike a solid block of stone, it naturally separates into relatively flat layers, making it possible to cut individual pieces and assemble them into the curved shape of a guitar. Getting those pieces to fit was another matter. Differences in thickness and small cutting errors caused the first assembly attempt to fail, forcing the entire structure to be taken apart and rebuilt.

The finished guitar weighs just under 49 pounds, making it dramatically heavier than a conventional acoustic instrument. It is heavy enough that carrying it around is hardly practical, but the experiment was never really about creating a replacement for a wooden guitar.

What makes the result particularly interesting is that it actually sounds like a guitar. When played unplugged, the slate instrument produces a surprisingly familiar acoustic tone. The main differences are reduced volume and shorter sustain rather than an entirely unfamiliar sound. The build does have some imperfections, including a slightly incorrect neck angle that affects tuning when the strings are fretted.

The final surface was treated with mineral oil, giving the slate a darker, polished appearance while helping protect the stone. Visually, the result looks almost like a piece of geological sculpture that happens to have strings attached.

This kind of experimentation is also pushing guitar design in a completely different direction, with concepts such as this stringless electric guitar questioning whether traditional strings and bodies are even necessary for making music.

BeBeau’s experiment joins a growing collection of unconventional guitars made from materials that seem completely unsuitable for traditional instrument building. Previous experimental instruments have been constructed from cardboard, LEGO bricks, coffee beans suspended in resin, and other unexpected materials.

The slate guitar is perhaps one of the most literal examples yet. It is far too heavy to replace a normal acoustic and hardly practical as an everyday instrument, but that was never really the point. The project demonstrates just how much freedom there is in guitar construction once the usual assumptions about wood and traditional materials are removed. And, perhaps most importantly, it proves that a guitar made from actual rock can genuinely sound good.
