Proof the Law of Attraction Really Does Work

 Yesterday (Thursday August 12 2010) I posted   http://beautifulsummermorning.com/2010/08/how-to-get-the-money-monkeys-out-of-your-mind/  an article dealing with limited thinking about money. I wrote about the idea for the article on Wednesday August 11, 2010. On Friday August the 13^th 2010 here is what happened to me the very next day after posting the article.

As you can see yesterday I solved my limited thinking abou tthe limited money pool I had to draw on each month by agreeing to add $50 more each month which would equal to adding 3,000 more a month in five years. That is almost double the pool I now have to work with.

I set fifty dollars as my goal because it represented a baby step. I could see that I could probably come up with a way in August to come up with $50 extra dollars. If I had started with 200.00 I would probably have kicked in my negative money monkeys.

I had no idea where the $50 dollars would come from but that’s where you have to be willing to believe and trust it will happen. I gave the example of my leaking gold fish pond and how I never doubted that I would have the water to fill it.

Today as I retrieved the mail I was attacked by a money monkey.  As I looked through the mail I spied an ad that read in large bold print, Free Money. My first reaction was to scoff. There is no such thing as free money I muttered as I went to toss the offending item into the trash.

But I stopped.

“Hold on,” I thought, “that’s a money monkey (a limiting belief about money). I quickly rephrased my negative thought to: “Of course there is free money, it’s everywhere!”

When I opened up the ad, on the inside page, it read: “Get $250 dollars when you open a checking account with us.” The only catch was that you had to set up two automatic bill payments. That’s no problem, I just have to shift a couple around, two of which I wanted to change from my credit card anyway.

So off I went to the bank, signed up and on Dec 30 of this year I will get $250 deposited to my account which is exactly the total extra dollars I would need to add into my December pool. For all you doubters out there…it is a FREE checking account so I am incurring no additional costs! Sweet!

The moral of the story is of course, don’t try to figure out where the money will come from…it will always come to you in a totally unexpected way.

I kept on attracting things today. My local baker had run out of the type of buns I wanted to buy, so I ordered a loaf of bread and some hamburger buns. After I had paid for my order and I was turning to leave he said, “Hang on, grab my card over there and just call ahead in the morning and I will save them for you, and here…here’s a free loaf of bread.”

I thanked him and let him know how much I appreciated his gesture. I think that is very important. Always show gratitude (humbly) for the gifts you receive. Never leave this step out.

A similar thing happened at the green grocer when I paid for my purchase the clerk put five lovely nectarines in my cloth bag.

“What’s that for?”

“Oh, you spent over 20 dollars so you get a bag of nectarines for free.”

Again: “Thank you very much, I really appreciate the gift.”

And now I am writing this really neat follow up story about how spotting and dealing with a Money Monkey resulted in almost instantaneous results.

Can it get any better?

You’ve heard the proverbial expression, got that monkey off my back but when it comes to money the monkeys are in your mind. Getting them out of your mind and clearing up the mess they make of your money flows needs to be a prime endeavour for those who want to achieve their dreams.

Those monkeys are negative thoughts and feelings about money, thoughts and feelings that are so subtle that you are not consciously aware of them…and therein lays the trap. To catch those monkeys we need to become aware of their existence, then and only then can we begin the process of exorcising them from our lives.

The test to see if you have any of those hidden Money Monkeys is to ask yourself this question: Do you have all the money you need to fulfill your dreams? If the answer is no you have one or more money monkeys reaping havoc in the canyons of your mind.

Now I am going to tell you something that might set off a negative thought in your mind and I want to see if you catch it.

I am not a multimillion dollar guru…while I am not financially destitute; I would not qualify as a shining example of financial abundance yet I am going to offer you here a two step process to help find and exorcise those monkeys.

(Negative alarm bells:   “why should I listen to anyone about money who is not financially abundant?” “What can you possibly tell me about money?”)

Did any such thoughts cross the frontiers of your brain? Even just little ones?

Now try this statement: “I am a billionaire money guru and I going to offer you an expensive coaching program to help you remove the money monkeys from your mind.”

(Negative alarm bells: “Charge me…you have more money than most third world countries. How can you possibly understand my situation, I only make 20,000 a year!”)

See; damned if you do, damned if you don’t. But also a nice way to close down any money conversation and avoid change and improvement.  It’s the number one money monkey out there, a kind of catch 22 which keeps people trapped, just where they want to be. They then believe they have license to complain bitterly to anyone who will listen about the unfairness of the system and how it takes advantage of the little man.

The truth is I am learning, along with a great many other people, that I have money monkeys. These monkeys are habits and assumed truths passed down to me from all those influences around me especially family, specifically parents.

I want to share with you a process I developed to help me work through this issue that may help you.

The process requires that we sit in a quiet place, away from all the chatter of our lives so we can concentrate and focus.  You will need a journal to write out your question and to record the answers that come to you.  The final ingredient is our belief that my asking and listening carefully for the answer we will be guided to a truth that point out the hiding monkey. Once we can see it, it can never have influence over us again, unless we choose to forget the truth.

Here is the first part of the process. You ask yourself this question…out loud if you feel comfortable and make sure to write it down in your journal.

`Tell me about a limiting belief you have about money.

Ask the question a few times if you have to.  Listen to your answer, and don`t throw anything away no matter how crazy it might sound to you.

Here is what I came up with.

I have this belief that I have a limited pool of money. I work at a job and baring a raise, I take home the same money every two weeks. So when I look at my monthly money pool I see a limit. When I consider a purchase or paying a bill my focus goes automatically to that limited pool and I attempt to work with what is there: read limit.  I`ve also discovered that my money pool seems to have a leak in it, as there is never as much there as I think there should be. My attention always gets pull to looking at that limited pool.

What does the Law of Attraction state?  That which you focus on you will get.

Now here comes the second part of the process.

“Tell me about a solution that would change this limited thinking into unlimited abundance.”

Ask the question several times to let it slip by your automatic negative defences. Think about how you use the limiting belief to stop yourself.

 Do you blame others for your limits? “I never have any money my wife spends it all.” “My husband spends everything on his toys!”  This is just another way of not taking ownership of your own limited thinking. The money monkey is in you. It is yours and yours alone.

A solution might not immediately present itself. Don’t worry. Let the question go… and just stay aware for the answer. You have asked and you will get an answer. Be prepared however:  It might not be in a form you are expecting.

Here is the solution I came up with for this particular money monkey.  I applied an Abraham-Hicks solution: take baby steps. If you are feeling bad you can’t suddenly feel great but you can work your way through a series of little steps. So you would come with, just as an example… “I still feel bad but the pain in my stomach has eased up.”…then “Now that the pain in my stomach as eased up I don’t feel as cramped.” So you proceed by small steps going from feeling bad to feeling a lot better.

Here is my simple solution. Every month I would add fifty dollars more into my money pool than I had the month before. Say I start with $4000 dollars in my monthly pool, next month I make it 4050. I will do that my finding a way to make an extra fifty bucks. As soon as I came up with this I started thinking of ways to make an extra $50 dollars.

Will this buy me all the things in my dreams? No…Not in the first month, but look what happens when you extrapolate that over a longer period of time. By the end of the first year I will now be working with a pool of 4600 dollars. At the end of two years I will have a pool of 5200, and at the end of five years I would be working with a monthly pool of $7,000 dollars!!!!

Even better than the dollars, I have broken a limited belief that that pool will no longer be limited by that money monkey. I will look at that pool of money very differently now.

Ah! I can hear a negative thought there. Where is the extra three thousand dollars coming from in five years time?

So here is the really neat thing about all of this, which just about has me jumping up and down.

Nature is a great teacher.

I just so happen to have a fishing pond in the back garden. Three years ago it sprung a slow leak. Trying to find the leak would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. So instead of tearing the pool apart, and disrupting the life of my goldfish, I simple add more water as needed.

Now I never worry that I won’t have enough water to add. Water is abundant. I just turn on the tap and the water flows out. In three years I have never ever doubted that the water would not flow into the pool to fill it back up.

That is the Law of Attraction in action. I am focused on the abundance, not the possible limit. I have no doubts.

The same holds true for my money pool. When I need to replenish it, I just have to turn on the money tap and refill the pool.

Have I found all those money monkeys yet?  No.  But tonight when I go up to bed I will get out my journal and I will say to myself:

`Tell me about a limiting belief you have about money.’

When I spot the money monkey I will ask:

“Tell me about a solution that would change this limited thinking into unlimited abundance.”

Continue to ask those questions until all your money monkeys have fled and you have an overflowing abundance of bananas.
