The process was more than just fun -- it was art and it was enlightening. The pure oils are all different colors with different potencies, and they are extremely precious. Did you know it takes up to 10 thousand pounds of rose petals to create one measly pound of oil? That means the oil is truly the essence of its original form, and because of that, it has wonderful healing powers. The Essie Neons 2013 Collection: My Top Picks

The moment I learned about the new Essie Neons 2013 Collection, my heart was all aflutter. I'm a sucker for bright nail polish come warmer months, and this collection certainly delivers. A few of the colors from the collection stood out for me, and I decided to create a manicure with all of them simultaneously! Check out my top picks.

I love that all three of these colors are rich, bright and bold. They're neon but not screaming, in-your-face, eye-searing neon. I also like that they have almost a jelly-like finish -- one coat of each is thin and a bit matte, but two plus a top coat make them glossy and completely opaque. I'm especially drawn to the green -- it's just the exact color of new spring grass. And the purple will look excellent for a summer pedicure!

If you want the colors to pop even more, you can start with one layer of a white nail polish, such as Essie Blanc. I actually tried this first, and while it did make the colors brighter, I actually preferred them without the white underneath. To each her own!

The Top 4 Reasons You Should Be Using Dermalogica Total Eye Care with SPF 15

I’ve searched high and low, around the world, and for about six months for an eye cream that contains SPF. My search finally led me to Dermalogica Total Eye Care with SPF 15. I’m religious about sunscreen and wear it every day, in part because I’m afraid of melanoma but mostly because I’m vain and I want to prevent wrinkles and age spots. 3) The gentle alpha hydroxy acids and plant extracts smooth fine lines. This eye cream not only prevents wrinkles, it counters existing problems.

4) The formula is moisturizing without being greasy and it absorbs incredibly quickly. I don’t need any waiting time between applying this eye cream and applying my crayon eyeliner, and there’s never an issue with raccoon eyes.

So hear me preach, ladies: if nowhere else, please wear SPF around your eyes!

Jin Soon Voile and Gossamer Nail Polish Swatches

Gossamer is a pale, sheer white base shot through with pink and purple shimmer. It's meant to be worn alone or as a top coat. Salon and Spa Directory: Paul Labrecque Salon & Spa at Chelsea Piers

I've lived in New York for almost 11 years, and before visiting the new Paul Labrecque Salon & Spa at Chelsea Piers, I had never visited Chelsea Piers before. Truth be told, it always seemed so far away, especially since I live on the Upper East Side -- and I just didn't see the point of heading all the way to the other side of town just for a gym. But for a spa? I made the effort on a sunny Sunday morning in a heartbeat.

Now, a word to the wise about people going to Chelsea Piers ... IT. IS. FAR. AWAY. Really and truly, it is. Even once I took the bus over to Chelsea Piers, I still needed to walk quite a long way before actually making it to the sports complex. I couldn't find a better way to get into the building than by walking through a dark parking garage, which didn't really make me feel so great -- but I just kept going, because I knew my appointment at Paul Labrecque wouldn't disappoint. And I was right.

Once I made it into the sports complex, my day of fun was underway. The salon and spa are located in separate spaces inside the complex -- the salon is next to the workout facility, while the spa is through the locker room area. I was beginning my day with a massage and then getting a blowout, so I was led through the locker room to the spa area, where I was given a plush robe and slippers (and full use of the sports center locker room, including steam room and showers).

My massage was, in a word, INCREDIBLE. I get massages pretty often, and I'm usually looking for someone who can really knead the tension out of my back and shoulders. Too often, though, they don't spend as much time as I'd like them to on those areas. Well, this massage focused solely on my back and shoulders -- and the tension was completely gone when it was over! My only complaint? It was only 30 minutes long! I could have lain on that table for hours.

Luckily, I then had a blowout in the salon. My stylist was fantastic -- he really took his time to make sure my hair looked and felt its absolute best. Two shampoos, conditioner, a blowdryer and flat iron (and an hour and a half) later, my hair was bouncy, shiny and gorgeous. Plus, my blowout lasted for five days!

Glittery Goodness: Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York

You know those nail polish colors that just seem to call to you across time and space? The ones that keep you up at night since you're unable to stop thinking about how gorgeous they must be in person? Well, that's how I felt about Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York. And you know what? It's even MORE amazing in person than I could ever have dreamed.

I'm normally not a fan of black nail polish -- it's just a little too goth for my taste -- but I decided to make an exception for this one, since it's jazzed up with tons of gold glitter. Deborah Lippmann really has the glitter thing down like none other. I love that there are pieces of glitter of all different sizes and varieties here.

The polish also covered much better than I was expecting. One coat was on the thin side, though much more glitter came out of the bottle than I thought I would see. But two coats? As you can see from the photo above, they're creamy, glittery and completely delightful.

Body Wash Week: Lather Body Wash

Here's the thing. I love body wash. At any given time, I have about 16 in my shower! And this week, I'll be bringing you some of my newfound favorites. Up today: Lather Body Wash.

When I want to use a product that not only works, but is designed with simple, beautiful packaging, I turn to Lather. Want to meet the nicest beauty blogger around? Enter Paula Wade of Older Girl Beauty. Honestly, people just don't get nicer than Paula. I love following her on Twitter, I love reading her site, and I generally just love her! (Plus, she and I share a love of Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, so she's obviously one of my favorite people right there.) Read on to find out how she got her start as a blogger, the cleanser she can't live without and so much more.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I am a born and raised Oklahoman. The only time I have ever lived anywhere else was when I went for my US Air Force training in Texas and Colorado for 6 months. I have a pretty amazing 16-year-old kiddo that may be taller than me, but he'll never be top big to not give his mama a kiss. (House rule!) I work at a real job that is about as opposite from beauty as you can get -- in the oil and gas industry -- and have had many random jobs that have ranged from working on F-16 fighter jets to running my own business to even working at a bail bonding company!

How did you first become interested in beauty, and what led you to create your own blog?
I was never a girly girl. I left that to my high school BFF, who even matched her contact lenses to her eyeliner (teal!). And I come from the land where "the higher the hair, the closer to God" was a way of life, so mall bangs were a daily staple. But, running my own business from my home and having a kiddo let me get uber-lazy about taking care of myself. So I decided that I needed to start taking care of myself again. I started reading beauty blogs to find out what was out there, which led me to get on Twitter, where I was encouraged to share my voice online with my own site.

I love that you have such a dedicated point of view with your blog -- and I love the name! How did you come up with it, and what made you want to write about beauty from this point of view?
When I started reading all of the beauty blogs, I realized that they were mostly written by 20-somethings and that there wasn't much out there for more *ahem* "mature" lovelies like myself. While we can all wear so many of the same color cosmetics, older gals tend to have different concerns and needs. I figured if I couldn't find much out there, then others couldn't either, so I decided to start my own site. At first, it was about taking some money out of each check and then discussing what I got and how it worked for me and has just grown from there. As for the name, well, I decided that I may be "older" but I am definitely still a girl and not "old" -- so Older Girl Beauty was born!

What are your favorite beauty products?
Okay, this is hard to narrow down, because I have so many things I like -- from color to haircare to skincare! So, I'll just tell you about things that I continue to go back to regularly and not list the things that I hoard and can't bear to use up! (I may or may not have many things that have a teensy bit still in the bottle/jar so that I can't say I've run out of it yet.)

Talika Lash Conditioning Cleanser. This cleanser takes off all of my eye makeup without making my eyes feel greasy or leaving a film over my eyes afterwards.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. This classic is an overnight lifesaver, but nowadays I have to go nab it back from the kiddo's bathroom since he has discovered the wonder of it, too.

Clairol Nice'n Easy Root Touch-Up. For some reason my grey roots want to come out and play long before my bottle red hair color fades away, so I have to use this on the regular to keep up the fiction that I am a non-aging natural redhead.

Bioderma Cleansing Water. I am lazy and this is amazing. That's pretty much it.

Jergens Original Scent Cherry-Almond Moisturizer. This scent has been with me since childhood. I remember rediscovering it as an adult and it hasn't left my house since.

Mally Beauty Evercolor Poreless Face Defender. I will never go back to using translucent powder after using this stuff. Sets my makeup, mattifies my face and doesn't show up white in pictures. It doesn't get better than that for me.

Being a blogger must be fun, but what do you do in your spare time?
Blogging is definitely fun, but since I work a more than full-time job and have a kiddo that has a very active social and extracurricular (marching/concert band/orchestra and debate) life, who doesn't have a driver's license yet, it is what I do in my spare time. Thankfully, I can multitask and can watch lots of crap TV while I am blogging. And when I do shut the laptop down, I love to read -- right now I am working my way through several YA dystopian society series and a Jackie Collins novel. Very highbrow stuff, right?

Nail Art Tutorial: Polka Dots with M.A.C Baking Beauties Nail Polishes

I recently received two of the nail polishes from the new M.A.C Baking Beauties collection and was anxious to try them out. What better way to use them simultaneously than with a polka dot manicure? Baking Beauties is inspired by the artistry of cake decoration, and these two nail polishes -- Pistachio Creme and Bleu Velvet are creamy, scrumptious and delicious to behold!

I love nail art, but I'm fairly terrible when it comes to creating it. Polka dots, however, are one aspect of nail art that ANYONE can do. All you need is a bobby pin or a dotting tool (I have the latter, which I found at Ricky's). Here's how I created this look.

I started by painting my nails with two coats of Bleu Velvet and allowed them to dry.

Next, I spilled out some Pistachio Creme onto a paper towel and dipped the dotting tool repeatedly into the puddle.

The only tools I needed to create this look!

I carefully placed four dots onto each nail with the dotting tool (I used the smaller side). I made the dot placement random on each nail.

And that's it! Simple, easy and super fun. Plus, these nail polishes ($16 each at maccosmetics.com) are gorgeous! They're definitely making their way into my permanent collection.

Remember when I told you yesterday that I really don't like scrub cleansers? Well, there must be something in the water of my shower, because all of a sudden I'm in love with them. This one from Origins is even better than I could have dreamed!

If you want a zesty kick to start your day off right, this is the body wash for you. It smells distinctly of grapefruit, which is no surprise since that's the foundation of the whole Gloomaway collection. It's sweet and citrusy, and it really brings a cheerful aspect to your shower routine. The exfoliating properties don't irritate the skin, but make it look and feel super soft and smooth. And a dime-sized amount is all that's needed for a rich, full lather.

Night Moves: The 2 Best Nighttime Facial Masks

Sleep in a mask? I never thought it was possible or even good for my skin to let a product sit so long on my skin. Then I came across the Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial and the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.

Both of these products are meant to be worn while you're sleeping, so the nutrients and ingredients really sink into your skin. Our skin works to repair itself while we're asleep -- letting it do its own thing for 6-9 hours a night really goes a long way. So it makes sense that there are products out there formulated just for this purpose!

I began by trying the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (seen above). You're supposed to massage it into the skin, tissue off excess and wake up with a refreshed, glowing complexion. Rather than tissuing off any access, I've been letting all of it sink into my skin overnight. But, WOW, what a difference! Before I started using Drink Up, my skin was drier than the Sahara -- cracked, peeling, flaking, you name it. But thanks to avocado, apricot kernel oil and Japanese seaweed, my skin is now hydrated beyond belief. This mask is meant to be used 1-2 times per week. I've been using it every Wednesday for the past three weeks and it's definitely made a huge difference!

Then it was time to try the Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial. I'm normally not a fan of coating my skin in heavy cream before bed, since it tends to clog my pores and create breakouts. But I've long loved Korres, and I trust the brand's products implicitly, so I decided to give it a try. Color me impressed! The Greek yoghurt provides proteins, minerals and vitamins to the skin and immediately hydrates and nourishes. I've been using this 1-2 times per week, and my skin has never looked or felt better -- and not a pimple in sight!

If I'm being honest, I normally don't like two things -- lavender and body washes with exfoliating properties. So it's kind of a wonder that I immediately gravitated toward this body wash, which not only smells of lavender but is actually a cleansing scrub. But miracles are bound to happen, and discovering this body wash certainly counts as a miracle to me!

The inclusion of vanilla cuts the lavender, making the scent pleasing and sweet rather than heavy and cloying. And rather than feeling too harsh for my sensitive skin, the scrub is soft and nourishing, thanks to Vitamins C and E. Coconut and sugar add to the overall sweetness but don't take it into confectionary land.

In a nutshell? This scrub is certainly worth a try. It may surprise and delight you!

First Look Fridays: Samara Finn, Senior Vice President of Marina Maher Communications

Samara is the Senior Vice President at Marina Maher Communications, where she works on fun beauty brands including Herbal Essences and Venus. I've worked with Samara for years, and I can honestly say it's a true pleasure every time I get to email with her or see her at an event. Plus, I absolutely love following her on Twitter! (You can do so here.) Read on to find out how she got her start in beauty, what shampoo she can't live without and so much more.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I grew up on Long Island and went to school at Fordham University at Lincoln Center, where I studied Communications/Media Management and had a minor in Business. Even back in college I was obsessed with media and pop culture. In addition to interning at ABC, I used to spend a lot of my free time getting standby tickets to sit in the audience of television shows that taped in NYC.

It was my interest in media and pop culture that convinced me to pursue public relations as a career. I am currently a Senior Vice President at Marina Maher Communications (MMC), in its Creative Catalyst Group, a team of media and creative experts who develop strategic campaigns to engage media, influencers and consumers. I lead a team that is 100 percent dedicated to working with online editors and influencers. We’ve always put a tremendous emphasis on the power of influential content creators online and it’s been rewarding to grow and evolve with the changing media landscape and advancements in technology.

How did you first become interested in beauty, and what led you to work in beauty PR?
When I graduated and got my first job in public relations, I was actually working on food and consumer clients at a smaller agency. About a year after I started, the company decided to shut its doors and I was back on the market searching for another position in the industry. I started at MMC in the summer of 2004. Time really flies when you’re having fun! My first clients at MMC were oral care brands, which crossed over between health and beauty. That’s when my interest in the beauty industry officially started. About a year or so later I moved onto our media team at the agency and had the opportunity to work on all MMC clients including our P&G Beauty brands (including COVERGIRL, Clairol and Venus). This was around 2005/2006, when social media was just beginning to really take off. After the boom of technology sites, I noticed one of the next big growth areas was beauty. As online beauty publishing evolved, I was fortunate enough to carve out a role focused on working with online influencers and building relationships with top-tier beauty experts on behalf of my clients. Through all of this I learned I was really passionate about beauty.

What is your favorite part about working in beauty PR? Any highlights throughout your career?
My favorite part of my job is that I have the opportunity to work across all of our clients in beauty, health and food. Every day is different and I love having the opportunity to work on so many award-winning programs and different product categories including makeup, hair and skin. One of the reasons I have been at MMC for almost 9 years (wow, that’s long!) is because the work is always different and always exciting. I never get bored! I also love educating and mentoring those around me. Those moments are always my favorite part of the day.

A highlight of my career was a few years ago when I was given the opportunity to move to Los Angeles for a few months to work more closely with the beauty experts and online media on the West coast. I worked remotely on East Coast hours and spent my afternoons meeting with many of the influencers I worked with and never had the chance to meet in person. The online space (and PR in general) is all about relationships, and having the chance to spend 1-on-1 time with such great women on the West Coast was not only valuable, but enjoyable.

After years of advocating for influencers and online media, a more recent highlight was being recognized by PR News as the 2012 Digital Communicator of the Year. I care so much about the people I work with and the programming we launch that it was very exciting to receive that award.

What are your 5 favorite products?
Working in beauty gives me the chance to try so many products from my clients. I love that I not only get to try the products, but I also get to learn about the science behind the products and see how experts use them firsthand. I’m a bit of a nerd and enjoy learning the science behind the product benefits that I share with media. Here are some of the brands I work with that are staples in my beauty routine:
Clairol Natural Instincts Haircolor. It’s definitely not a secret that I color my hair. Everyone who knows me well knows my shade is Toasted Almond (the same shade as spokesperson Giada de Laurentiis when she first started working with the brand).

CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick. My go-to shade is Coquette.

Social media is part of my professional life, but it’s also a personal passion of mine. I spend a lot of time reading, researching and shopping online. I also love sports! Through Zog Sports (social sports leagues), I play softball, hockey and even joined a bowling team! In the summer I spend a lot of time out on Long Island at the beach where my parents live. Floating on a tube around the Long Island Sound is one of my favorite things to do to relax and decompress when I have the chance to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. I also love to bake -- cupcakes, brownies, cookies, cakes -- you name it! And when I can, I try to volunteer at certain events every year, such as the Catholic Charities Holiday Shopping Day and Arthur Ashe Kids Day.

After I've spent so much time in front of the mirror blowdrying and flat ironing my hair, the LAST thing I want to do is wash it again the next day. And in my journey to find the perfect dry shampoo, I came across this one. I will say it has a bit of a lingering scent -- not bad, just strong -- so go easy with the spritzes or you'll be smelling your hair all day long. But this dry shampoo soaks up oil in an INSTANT and also gives hair a bit of volume and lift. I've used it on day five of a blowout and it makes my hair look like I just washed it that morning!

Chanel L'Été Papillon de Chanel Nail Polish Swatches

Chanel's collection for Summer 2013, L'Été Papillon de Chanel, is inspired by the dazzling colors of butterfly wings. The three nail polishes in the collection are, in a word, stunning. Read on for swatches and my take on the shades!

Azuré, to me, is the clear winner from this collection. I actually first saw this polish over a month ago during a visit to Tenoverten, and I simply HAD to try it ... and became immediately obsessed. Azuré is a gorgeous deep teal with tons of metallic shimmer. Two coats yield even, beautiful color with no brushstrokes. This color is like nothing else in my collection and looks equally as beautiful on fingers as it does on toes.

Bel-Argus is a rich, deep metallic navy. While the dark hue is a bit unexpected for summer, that's what I love about it. Two coats, like Azuré, also yielded perfect color with no streaks or brushstrokes. I'm definitely impressed by the metallics in this collection, and this one is a fabulous hue to wear year-round.

Lilis is a bold, intense coral. The color is definitely pretty, and two coats create a creamy, opaque finish. I do like this color, but I think it's the least unique of the three, especially for summer. But if you're on the lookout for a pretty coral shade for tips and toes, this is a good one to try.

The Top 5 Truly Fabulous Hand Lotions

Our hands really do show what kind of life we've lived. Farmers have dirt under their nails, artists have stains on their fingers, ladies who spend too much time in the sun have age spots and wrinkles. Though it's an uphill battle given the wear and tear that our hands take, it's important to try and keep your paws looking young.

There are about a gajillion hand lotions/balms/butters/etc. out there from which to choose, and after sampling a lot of hand treatments, I can say with much confidence that there is no right answer, just the answer that's right for you. And so I bring you my favorites when it comes to nurturing digits to dream about.

Favorite Deep Moisturizer: Lush Handy Gurugu Hand Cream
This one (seen at the top of this post) means business! Made with organic shea, cashew, almond and pumpkin seed butters, it's a great treatment to apply right before bed. Given how amazingly thick it is, I'm surprised at how quickly it absorbs. I highly recommend lathering this stuff on and then putting on a nice soft pair of cotton gloves before you hit the hay. My husband doesn't like when I do that, but my hands sure do. Handy Gurugu has a fun, earthy scent that will appeal to the patchouli-wearing crowd.

Longest Lasting: Juara Candlenut Hand & Body Balm
I'd never heard of candlenut oil until I came across this hand cream, but I'm definitely a fan now. Frequently used in Indonesia, candlenut oil is known for being a powerful moisturizer and also for creating a velvety finish. That soft, indulgent feeling is the thing that really turned me on. This balm soaks right into the skin and illipe butter leaves a cushiony feeling that proves that the moisture is sealed in. I have a toddler, so in order to avoid catching every germ he brings home, I wash my hands a lot and want to avoid constant reapplication. This is the big winner when it comes to longevity. Also, the scent is fresh and light, enough so that I've applied it on a crowded train and not gotten a sideways glance.

Favorite Splurge: La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Hand Cream SPF 15
If money is no object, then this is your best bet. This hand cream is special in a variety of ways -- not least of which is that it has sun protection baked right in. I've been using my daytime facial moisturizer on my hands for years when I know I'll be out in the sun for extended periods of time, but it just doesn't feel quite right on my hands. This product solves that problem. In addition, it fights age spots and discoloration with a skin-refining peptide that sloughs off dead skin cells, activates creation of new cells and promises to soften the cuticle area and strengthen nails. Phew! This much awesomeness doesn't come cheap, but it's well worth the indulgence.

Favorite For Tree-Huggers: Desert Essence Organics Hand & Body Lotion
When I say that these lotions smell good, I mean it. The two I got (Sweet Almond and Spicy Vanilla Chai) were so divine, I headed up to my local co-op to smell the other scents. Amazing! This lotion is wheat and gluten free, and it's 100 percent vegan. It contains no phosphates and the packaging is biodegradable. Featuring shea butter and jojoba oil, it's a treat for your hands and can be used all over for relief from dry, ashy skin. Need more good news? It comes in an unscented version for those sensitive to scents or seeking a less-intrusive option.

Feeling a little grungy while working the old 9-5? Enter this hand lotion. First Look Fridays: Gabby Rosenthal, Manager of Origins Global Communications

Gabby Rosenthal is just one of those infectiously happy, energetic people that you can't wait to be around. I've been working with her for years, sharing an admiration of fancy nail polish (seriously, we can talk for HOURS about our favorite colors and brands, of which we have many shared loves) and other beauty-related tidbits. She's also whip smart and incredibly easy to work with, which goes a long way as a beauty publicist! Recently, Gabby became the Manager of Global Communications for Origins, which has long been one of my favorite brands -- I'm thrilled for Gabby and the next step in her career. Read on to find out which mascara she's currently dying over, why she loves working in PR and so much more.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I’m from New Jersey born and raised, and proud of it! I’m not your typical Jersey girl though. I grew up with a passion for fashion and beauty, but also sports. I went to Skidmore College, where I studied business and played on the tennis team. I loved it there! I’ve always had a strong interest in pop culture and knew that I wanted my career to encompass that.

How did you first become interested in beauty, and what led you to work in beauty PR?
I’ve always had a passion for the beauty industry and am fascinated by the products that people use and why they like what they do. There’s a story behind why we like the products that we do, from the shampoo in our shower to the mascara we apply before a date. After college, I began working for a fashion designer. It was an amazing experience and I learned so much, but knew I wanted my career to go in a different direction. I knew I wanted to try PR. I looked into positions in fashion, beauty and celebrity but fell in love with the first beauty agency I interviewed at.

What is your favorite part about working in beauty PR? Any highlights throughout your career?
There are many things I love about working in beauty PR. I’m so fortunate to be in a field where people are passionate about what they do, but are also smart and hardworking. It inspires me every day. I’ve been fortunate to work on some really amazing brands over the years. There have been a number of highlights throughout my career thus far. I’ve enjoyed launching new products, engaging with experts and editors backstage at New York Fashion Week, working with celebrities and influencers, media training guests for TV segments, working on 360 media campaigns and more.

What are your 5 favorite products from Origins?
It’s hard to narrow it down to just 5 products. Every product I try is better than the next!
1) Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores. This charcoal mask has been a favorite of mine for years. Nothing cleans my pores better. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and radiant. Sometimes I’ll use it just on my T-zone and other times, on my whole face.

2) GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer. I can’t get enough of this moisturizer. I have oily skin so most moisturizers leave me feeling greasy. Not this one! The lightweight cooling gel formula melts into my skin, providing all-day hydration.

3) Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Cream. I’m at the age now where I need to start using eye cream regularly. I’m not getting any younger! The Plantscription formula is rich and creamy, but not greasy. I use it morning and night.

4) GinZing Brightening Mascara To Lengthen & Lift. I love mascaras with big brushes. This brush is unique in that it applies the mascara evenly across lashes without clumping or flaking. I can apply one coat to lengthen lashes for day or a few coats for a more dramatic evening look.

5) Peace Of Mind On-The-Spot Relief. This product is like zen in a bottle. By just dabbing a little on your temples, you're hit with an immediate tingling sensation that relaxes you and lingers to keep you feeling calm. I keep a bottle at my desk and apply it when I have a busy day.

Are there any other beauty products or brands you can't live without? What makes them special for you?
I’m a bit of a beauty junkie, so there are a few products I can’t live without!
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink. It literally doesn’t budge all day. I wore it when I ran my last half marathon and it stayed put all race. It’s the best!

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I use this almost every day. It provides great coverage without feeling heavy and I love having the SPF protection -- it’s so important!

Bumble and bumble Thickening Hairspray. I've been using this for years. It provides nice hold and lots of volume. Most volumizing products tend to weigh my hair down. I actually borrowed this product from my mom years ago. I guess you could say I never gave it back.

Ojon Full Detox Rub-Out Dry Cleansing Spray. I’ve probably tried every dry shampoo available on the market and this is my favorite. It not only refreshes my hair, but adds volume and texture. My hair has some natural wave in it and the formula of this dry shampoo really enhances that.

M.A.C Lip Color. Those who know me well know that I rarely wear lip color. But when I do, I always wear MAC. Girl About Town is currently my favorite shade -- it commands attention! It’s a bold fuchsia that I sometimes blot onto lips like a stain or apply it with a lip brush for a pop of color.

Aveda Stress-Fix Body Lotion. I use this when my skin is feeling extra dry. The formula is super hydrating and really soothing. I love products that incorporate aromatherapy and essential oils.

I also have an obsession with nail polish. I can’t narrow it down to one shade -- I love it all!

Working in PR must be fun, but what do you do in your spare time?
I’ve recently moved across the river to Hoboken and love it! For those who haven’t been, I recommend giving it a shot. For only being one square mile, there are so many things to do! I’ve also recently gotten back into fitness and have signed up for a few races. I recently completed my first Spartan Race at Citi Field -- one of the coolest things I’ve done in a while! It was fun challenging myself and getting out of my comfort zone. I’m also a huge sports fan. On Sundays in the fall, I can always been seen in my Giants jersey. Basketball is my other favorite sport. My Knicks have been having a great season and, so far, an even better post season! One of the things I love best about this area is that you can go to a sports game or a concert or a cool new restaurant or a boutique, all in the same day if you want. There are so many restaurants on my list that I’ve been wanting to try. Additionally, I have a slight obsession with wedge sneakers. I recently got a pair of Nike Sky High Dunks. To say that I’m fanatical is an understatement.

Nail Polish Swatches: Etoile Greenwich St. Soiree Collection

I love finding out about new nail polish brands -- especially ones with a unique take on polish. So when I discovered Etoile on Twitter, I simply had to reach out to them immediately. You see, Etoile not only creates absolutely gorgeous colors, but they use actual diamond dust in the formula for a little added luxury to the everyday manicure. GENUINE DIAMONDS ON MY NAILS? You'd better believe I needed to check this brand out.

I received the new Greenwich St. Soiree Collection -- two nail polishes inspired by NYC's West Village -- and was immediately smitten. Read on for swatches and my take on the colors.

Fizzy Cucumber is a gorgeous mint green shot through with silver shimmer. Two coats covered the nail perfectly with no streaks or dragging. This is such a fabulous color for spring and summer -- I'm always on the hunt for pretty mint greens, and this one definitely fits the bill! I don't have anything else like it in my collection.

Pink Panache is a vibrant hot pink with silver shimmer. Can't you just picture this on your toes while you're at the beach? Hot pink is THE nail polish color of summer to me, and this one in particular is so gorgeous and bright. Much like Fizzy Cucumber, two coats yielded even, perfect color.

Both nail polishes went on easily and perfectly with two thin coats. I love the formula, especially with the hints of diamond dust. If you're looking to add a little luxury to your next manicure or pedicure, Etoile is definitely the way to go!

Salon and Spa Directory: Marie Robinson Salon

I'd been wanting to check out Marie Robinson Salon for quite awhile, so I was extremely excited to finally have the opportunity. And let me just put it this way ... I was long overdue for hair color, and I do mean LONG overdue. I hadn't done anything to it since October! In recent months, I'd started to think I might be done with red hair, but I realized I really missed it. So I made an appointment with Meg Sanchez Hartigan to see what she might be able to do for me.

The salon itself is airy, bright and cheerful. Plush chairs and couches are scattered around the reception area, while each salon space is stationed with comfortable armchairs and oversized mirrors. Each space is set far enough from the next that you really feel like you're the only one in the room! I was also struck by the positive attitudes set forth by each and every person working in the salon. From the receptionists and the coat check girls to the stylists, every single person was friendly, positive and accommodating.

From the moment I sat down in Meg's chair, I knew it was a match made in heaven. Meg is super cool -- bold black hair, lots of tattoos -- and she just GETS crazy color. I expressed interest in going for a bold red with some even brighter streaks throughout, and she was instantly on board! Meg decided to color my roots first before matching the rest of my strands to that color. And then she worked on my hair for awhile at the sink, coloring individual pieces with various reds and bright corals for added dimension.

Two hours later? VOILA! Amazing, GORGEOUS color that I can't stop admiring. Not to mention the most FABULOUS blowout that lasted for four days -- a true coup, since wearing my hair curly usually only lasts for one!

Music Festival Series: Coachella Makeup Looks, Day 3

Wrapping up this music festival series with my final day at Coachella. Hope you all have fun this weekend! Happy Coachella!

83 degrees day/blinding sandstorm at night. What a crazy day! Within an hour at dusk, the weather plummeted and violent winds swept through the open grounds. I was determined to stay until the very end, even though, as Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis put it, “Tomorrow, I will *$*# out a sandbox for my son.” Today was the true weather-proof makeup test.

Too Faced Endless Summer 16 Hour Long-Wear Bronzer
This bronzer provided just the right amount of sunkissed glow without appearing too brown or orange. Although dark in the compact (which has a huge mirror that I adore), this velvety powder delivers just a subtle hint of natural color. The color is very buildable, making this shade universally flattering for every skin tone. I appreciated that the matte formula did not add more shine to my face. While it didn’t last the full 16 hours, it did last the better part of the day.

N.Y.C. New York Color Smooch Proof 16HR Lip Stain in Unstoppable Red
This lip stain really did last the entire day! The pen is shaped like a fat felt tip marker, making it really fast and easy to use. I liked how the tip is super stiff and didn’t bend when I lined my lips. I filled in my lips by using the fat side of the marker, holding it vertically and pressing in the stain. I finished by dabbing on a bit of SPF lip balm for protection and shine. The whole process took about 16 seconds.

CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Silver Spark
Though labeled as silver, this color comes out a beautiful silver gray blue -- think starry night. I absolutely loved how the combination of colors created a come-hither depth, giving my eyes a classy, mysterious gleam. The silicone formula made for a smooth, effortless application. The liner lasted through an entire night of my hands shielding, and inevitably touching, my eyes without the slightest smudge.

mark Color Me In Eye Crayon in Wild Blue
Since this was the third and final day of Coachella, we were all getting tired and sleeping in later. This super pigmented, chubby eye crayon made getting ready unbelievably fast. One quick swipe and I was done. Teal is the color of the moment for this spring and summer, and this bright blue shade really popped. It lasted the entire windy day without primer.

First Look Fridays: Bryn Kenny, Public Relations Director for Dior Beauty

In the world of luxury, there are a few brands that really stand out to me. And at the top of the list? Dior. I've long been in awe of all the beautiful creations Dior turns out season after season, both in fashion and beauty. And working with Bryn Kenny, the Public Relations Director for Dior Beauty, is one of the highlights of being a beauty blogger. She's quick to respond, she sends the most fabulous options for each and every story, and she basically makes MY job so much easier by being on top of her game. Read on to find out what made her first gravitate toward the beauty world, the mascara she can't live without and so much more.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I grew up on Long Island near the Hamptons. I am and always will be a total beach girl. I was a competitive swimmer and an ocean lifeguard for years. I went to high school in Westhampton and then Middlebury College in Vermont where I studied creative writing and film.

How did you first become interested in beauty, and what led you to work in beauty PR -- and more specifically, for Dior?
I grew up in the 90’s, which was a very fashion-obsessed time. Even the grunge movement, which was theoretically anti-fashion, was about a very specific way of dressing, and I was always fascinated with the concept of communicating through clothes. It was also the era of the supermodel -- Christy, Linda, Cindy, Naomi -- and I think that shaped me a lot. I started reading magazines like Vogue when I was around 11. I would tear out all of the Versace ads and tape them on my walls instead of boy band posters. At the same time I started writing. In the summer my mom would force me to set aside an hour each week and write a story in a notebook ... she’d paste a picture onto a blank page and say, “Go!” I was a reluctant writer at first, but then I fell in love with the process. I started as an editor at WWD and then went to W as a beauty writer. To be completely honest, I’ve never been a beauty junkie. I was always more interested in the fashion side, but when you look at my career trajectory, I’ve always worked for brands that are about fashion at the core. Dior Beauty products aren’t just about ingredients and science. They’re about the heritage of the brand, the original vision of Mr. Dior. Everything can be traced back to that first collection in 1947.

What is your favorite part about working for Dior (or about beauty PR in general)? Any highlights throughout your career?
I’ll never stop wanting to meet fascinating people, and working in public relations for a brand like Dior, in a city like New York, has exposed me to some of the most talented, innovative, creative people in the world. Every day I’m meeting or speaking with someone new and that’s what keeps things exciting. As for a career highlight, I would say the dinner we hosted last year at The Hole Gallery to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our nail collection. We collaborated with the artist Holton Rower, who creates these incredible “pour”-style paintings. After dinner, Holton did a live pour for our guests in the gallery and incorporated shades of Dior Vernis. It was truly a one-of-a-kind event.

What are your 5 favorite Dior products?
Dior Hydra Life Beauty Awakening Rehydrating Mask. I have super dry skin and this really plumps without being too thick or greasy. I use it as a basic moisturizer in the winter.

Dior Capture Totale Peeling Lumiere. The best exfoliator ever.

Dior Addict Lip Glow. It just looks so natural, it’s moisturizing and it has SPF!

Dior Diorshow Blackout Mascara. Blackout is like the “emo” mascara of the Diorshow family -- it’s dark and moody and dramatic.

Dior Diorskin Eclat Satin Foundation. I just discovered this in the beauty closet. I’m not sure why it took me so long because it’s been around for a while, but I’m hooked. Again with my pesky dry skin ... it adds a bit of coverage without looking cakey or too matte.

Are there any other beauty products or brands that you absolutely love? What makes those products stand out for you?
NARS Lipstick. NARS makes the best lipstick shades. Heat Wave is the perfect matte orange red and Schiap is a genius bright pink.

NARS Orgasm Blush. I also love this (like everyone else in the world). It’s the perfect glowy, warm peach.

Fresh body products. They're my weak spot. The packaging is amazing and the formulas are luxurious without being overdone.

Guerlain Super-Aqua Intensive Mask. It’s one of those “Friday the 13th” style paper masks that should only be worn in the privacy of your own home. Even my dog is like WHAT do you have on?

Working in PR must be fun, but what do you do in your spare time?
I write! I’m working on a novel and a few screenplays. More than anything, I love telling stories and creating characters. Words can be very powerful and (at the risk of sounding cheesy) healing. I also go to comedy shows a lot. There’s so much raw talent in New York and I love watching comedians work, especially when they’re testing out new material. It takes some major you-know-what’s to stand up in front of a bunch of strangers and try to make them laugh. I really admire that kind of chutzpah.
