Nordstrom Unveils NYC Flagship Featuring The Ultimate Beauty Haven

New Yorkers are in for a treat this holiday season as Nordstrom has finally opened the flagship location of our dreams. Nordstrom doors are now open and located at 224 West 57th Street, across from the Men's Store. The new store occupies the base of Central Park Tower, the tallest residential building in the world. Customers can now shop 320,000 square-feet of retail space across seven-levels in the heart of the city. Nordstrom NYC represents the biggest and best statement of what the brand has to offer.

The best part about Nordstrom NYC? Easily the Nordstrom Beauty Haven. Beauty lovers can indulge in an array of beauty services featuring 110 unique branded services from Anastasia Beverly Hills, Base Coat, Blink Brow Bar, Drybar, FaceGym, Heyday, Kate Somerville, The Light Salon, Nordstrom Spa, Sisley Paris and St. Tropez. Customers can customize their experience whether they have 30 minutes or three hours and be pampered from head to toe. Services can be booked online at nordstrom.com/nyc.

Elevating the in-store beauty shopping experience to new heights, the flagship will offer more than 100 beauty brands spanning two floors, including 16 shops from brands such as YSL, Armani, Dior, MAC, La Prairie, Byredo, Le Labo, Diptyque and Creed. Four digital experiences were developed for customers to explore the extensive offering. Experiences include a Lipstick Finder, allowing customers to try on 400 lip colors via augmented reality; Fragrance Finder, an interactive quiz designed to narrow down the perfect scent, including a button to press and smell the desired scent; a Skincare Finder to assess the individual needs of each customer and recommend helpful products; and Beauty Stylist Virtual Mirror, an interactive mirror that allows customers to virtually 'try on' trend makeup looks.

Life After Invisalign: My New Smile

This is a follow-up story to the my previous post about starting invisalign. You can read the previous post here.

I can't believe it's been almost two years since my invisalign journey first begin. Since my invisalign treatment ended, I've gotten married (photo above is my wife and I!) and the road to straight teeth has been long, but much needed. My invisalign process has come to an end and I am more than thrilled with the results. In the process, I also learned a lot about myself and how much teeth can affect your everyday life. Before invisalign, I never smiled with my teeth and was extremely self-conscious of how I looked when I smiled. When I first met Dr. Valentina Lyssova, I knew instantly that she was the right dentist for me. It's important to choose a dentist that understands your needs and manages your expectations. The process of teeth correction can be a long process and you're going to be seeing your dentist every month. Choosing invisalign is a big decision and I encourage anyone considering the process to research if it's right for them.

My reason for choosing invisalign was that I had an open bite. If your upper and lower teeth don't touch when your mouth is closed, this is considered an open bite. I had always wanted braces when I was younger, but the cost was too high. As an adult, it's hard to wear traditional braces and this is where invisalign is a perfect fit. The aligners are clear and generally can't be seen unless someone is staring at your teeth. Invisalign treatments works by moving your teeth slowly over time. Typically, you feel pressure or tightness on your teeth and it can be feel a bit uncomfortable. My first few trays were painful, but you start to get used to it over time.

Invisalign aligners must be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day to get the best results. You can remove your invisalign aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. I had to swap my trays every 10 days and had to remove before every meal. My complete invisalign treatment took almost two years. I did take a break last July for my wedding and honeymoon. After the initial treatment is complete, a patient often must wear a retainer in order to maintain their newly straightened teeth. This varies depending on everyone's unique situation. The retainer doesn't bother me since I've gotten so use to the invisalign aligners. I couldn't be happier with my results and highly recommend booking a consultation for invisalign.

Starting My Invisalign Journey With Lyssova Dental Wellness

Let's talk teeth! Confession: My teeth have always bothered me. I wouldn't say my teeth are awful, but they can definitely be improved. I sucked my thumb for many years as child and it caused my teeth to move forward and create an open bite. My top and bottom teeth have never touched the way they should. I noticed it a few years ago after smiling in a group photo and I stopped myself from smiling in photos altogether after that. As a beauty girl and someone who is constantly laughing, I knew it was time to fix this.

If you follow me on Twitter, you know a few months ago I started my Invisalign treatment with Lyssova Dental Wellness. I didn’t know if I should get traditional metal braces or Invisalign, so when Lyssova Dental Wellness reached out and asked me if I was wanted to change my smile, I jumped at the chance. The team at Lyssova Dental has been wonderful since I met them a few months ago. Dr. Valentina Lyssova is an excellent dentist who really gets to know her patients before starting any sort of treatment. We talked extensively about what I’d like done and what she’d recommend. The first thing I told her is that I never smile in photos. I felt like I aged out of metal braces and I didn’t know what options I had as an adult. You may be somewhat familiar with Invisalign, but the treatment process starts with the consultation. The first step is talking with an Invisalign provider about how the treatment works and if you’re a good candidate. Once it’s determined that Invisalign is a good option for you, a customized treatment plan is created. Your doctor will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign will use to create a 3-D image of your teeth. From these images your doctor will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth. While every case with Invisalign is unique, treatment typically takes a year for adults.

I have to wear a new aligner ever two weeks and have occasional checkups with Dr. Lyssova. For best results and a timely outcome, it’s recommended to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, throughout the entire treatment. This is definitely something to consider when choosing Invisalign. You have to remove your trays before eating and your teeth should be brushed and flossed before reapplying your trays. I’ll share more about my Invisalign journey in the coming months!

The first product will help you tackle uneven skin tone and skin discoloration. Elizabeth Arden’s Skin Illuminating Collection consists of 3 key products, Skin Illuminating Brightening Day Serum, Skin Illuminating Night Capsules, and Skin Illuminating Retexturing Pads, but now, Elizabeth Arden introduced Ceramide Overnight Firming Mask. This mask works to improve skin’s overall appearance while you get your beauty rest. The other exciting new product is the Ceramide Cleansing Oil. This oil cleanses skin to perfection and easily removes all makeup and impurities.

Enter Essie’s First Ever Nail Art Awards “The Essie’s”

Essie has just announced it's first ever nail art contest (the essies) hosted on YouTube and essie.com featuring an exclusive series of nail art challenges to discover the next great nail artist. Essie fans and nail artists can enter the contest for a chance to win the grand prize - a $20,000 partnership with essie, a spot at New York Fashion Week with Celebrity Manicurist, Michelle Saunders, and much more! The final two winners will be determined through a combination of online fan votes and essie’s panel of experts, including:

Carolyn Holba – General Manager, essie worldwide
Jenny Fox – Founder of Jenny Claire Fox, a top nail art and beauty Youtube channel
Katie Rodgers – Artist and Creator of Paper Fashion
Michelle Saunders – essie celebrity manicurist

The first 1,000 entries will receive essie’s gel.setter kit and the creators of the top ten videos, as selected internally by essie, will move on to phase two.

Phase 2: Spring Trend Challenge (February 22th – March 28th)
In this phase, the top ten contestants will receive essie’s spring 2016 collection and challenged to create the ultimate spring trend inspired nail art look. Videos will be uploaded to Youtube.com where online fan votes will determine the top six semi-finalists moving to phase three.

Phase 3: Dream Getaway Challenge (March 28th – May 2nd)
Six lucky semi-finalists will receive an essie branded polish rack filled with 90 shades, and be tasked with creating a nail art look inspired by their dream getaway. The top three finalists, as chosen by online fan votes, will move to the last phase.

Phase 4: Blank Canvas Challenge (May 2nd – June 6th)
The three finalists will be flown to New York to film their last video in Youtube’s studio. For this challenge, they will be given a blank canvas and challenged to get expressive. essie’s expert panel will select the top two winners who will be announced on June 1st.
