I caught up with Harry Josh on the telephone interrupting his very busy morning to learn more about his fascinating career as top celebrity hairdresser.

In this interview Harry Josh talked to me about what attracted him to the world of hairdressing. His working relations with Gisele Bundchen. Gives tips to how we can achieve Gisele’s hair at home. Lists some John Frieda products he just can’t live without. Dishes out summer hair trends and future plans.

Why have you decided on a career in hairstyling?
I always had a passion to be in front of the camera, I wanted to be an actor or a model and that didn’t work out so well. I then realized that if you can’t beat them, join them! I remember looking through fashion magazines when I was young , particularly Vogue, and seeing an outtake from a photo shoot of a hairdresser brushing model’s hair on a cliff. It didn’t even look like a job it looked like fun. As a hairdresser you get to work with beautiful models and to travel to exotic locations. It seemed like a cool job and I wanted to get it!

What was your big first break as a celebrity hairdresser?
I would have to say Vogue Magazine. They have done a story on 5 up-and-comer hairdressers to look out for. I ended becoming their featured story. Vogue gave me a full page picture and a big chunk of the article. It turned out to be a really big thing for me. From that it all kind of snow balled.

What is your working relations like with supermodel Gisele Bundchen?
I’ve been Gisele Bundchen’s colorist for 10 years. I’ve been one of her closest friends for about 13 years. And I style her hair on occasions such as red carpet events.

Can you reveal how to get Gisele Bundchen’s hair color?
Gisele’s hair color can be achieved only if the bulk of your natural hair color or base color is showing. Only idea if you have light brown or dark blonde hair naturally. If your hair is very dark naturally, it will never work on you.

How can we maintain color treated hair or highlighted hair such as Gisele’s?
I use John Frieda Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Serum on EVERY single person’s hair I’ve ever styled in my life. Especially after coloring hair John Frieda Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Serum helps in flattening the hair cuticles.

How would you describe Gisele Bundchen’s hair cut? What should one ask their hairdresser at home to achieve Gisele’s cut?
You should ask your hairdresser to give your hair long layers.

You’ve been recently featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show. How was that experience?
Appearing on the Oprah show was probably the highlight of my life! I’m a fan of the show and Oprah, and the fact that I got to sit next to Oprah for an hour and chat with her it is something I will never forget.
Which some hot (pun intended, lol) summer hair trends we are going to see in the upcoming seasons?
We are seeing a lot of loose waves, natural tousled hair, nothing too styled because the summer heat makes hairstyles staying looking good for long difficult. We are also seeing a lot of hair accessories such as: headbands, hair clips, and hair combs.

How would you describe your role at John Frieda?
I’m John Frieda’s International Creative Consultant for all the products that are launched in their line. We test all products and try to come up with what is missing on the market. We try to fill every niche we can when it comes to hair care. Our mission is to address or solve every hair issue with every hair type with our products. Whether you have frizzy hair, color treated hair. Whether you are blonde, brunette, or a red head, John Frieda has the product for you. John Frieda is a very innovative hair care line and a problem-solution based brand. We try to be specific about every product we create. Because I’m a hairdresser and not a scientist really helps the John Frieda products to be the best they can be. John Frieda products are not just coming from a lab, they are created through a hairdresser’s real life experimentation with these products and giving feedback on which product works or not. This way John Frieda was able to revolutionize how women style and care for their hair!

Which other John Frieda product you just can’t live without?
I’m really a big fan of John Frieda’s mousse line and its Luxurious Volume Bountiful Body Mousse, and Frizz-Ease Take Charge Curl-Boosting Mousse. Both work fantastic and I can use them just about on any hair to build body and texture.

Which tips can you give us on maintaining healthy hair on an everyday basis?
Getting a trim every two months and using the right shampoo and conditioner can make a big difference to your hair. When you go to your local drugstore and stand in front the John Frieda section, read the labels and see which product describes your hair type. For example, if you have thin hair, try the John Frieda Root Awaking line, it is fantastic for that. John Frieda’s Root Awakening is our newest shampoo and conditioner. It smells amazing like eucalyptus. It really cleans and hydrates your scalp and promotes health hair growth. And as I said it smells so amazing, it is worth trying Root Awakening even just for that.

What is your favorite city in the world?
New York City hands down!

What is your favorite drink?
An Acai Smoothie, I drink that twice a day. It keeps me very healthy.

How would you describe your personal style?
My style is understated, casual, and Rock Star chic.

What some exciting projects are you working on at the moment and what’s next for Harry Josh?
I just styled Gisele Bundchen’s hair for the Vogue’s 2009 Costume Institute Gala. And I’m working with John Frieda on our product launches for 2010 and 2011.

Kourtney Kardashian is best known for her appearances on the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians and is also the big sister to Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie and Kendall Jenner.

Kourtney Kardashian and her sister Khloe Kardashian will be appearing in a spin-off show which will air in August 2009 on E! Networks. The spin-off will feature the sisters moving to Miami to open a second Dash store on the east coast. The show has a working title of: Kourtney and Khloe in Miami.

I caught up with Kourtney Kardashian on a telephone from Los angles early in the morning to chat about the time she discovered the love for makeup. Why she looks up to her mother, Kris Jenner. Best part of being on the show: Keeping Up With The Kardashians. What’s in Kourtney’s makeup bag. What does she feel about becoming famous. And her new reality show Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami.

When did you first discover makeup?
Probably way too young. Kim and I went to all girls Catholic school where we had to wear uniforms so the only way we could express ourselves was wearing cute shoes or a lipstick. I remember wearing lipstick in seventh grade. Our teacher would take our lipsticks away and throw them away every day. That’s why we would buy cheap lipsticks in a drugstore. It was a burgundy color lipstick. Not a cute color. We also then began wearing an eye liner.

Do your sisters, Kylie and Kendall, come to you for makeup tips or advice?
I notice my little sisters Kylie and Kendall already starting to wear eyeliner. Kylie is a girly girl and Kendall doesn’t really care about makeup. I took them to the mall few days ago, because I love going to the mall, and just walk around. We went to Sephora and I let them each pick something. To my surprise, Kylie who doesn’t normally wear makeup bought an eye liner. And Kylie who already has all the makeup got leopard tweezers. She said: “I don’t have tweezers of my own so I have to borrow mom’s.” I love going to Sephora and MAC and getting into it.

Your mom, Kris Jenner, is a very impressing mother and a woman. What are some of the things about your mom you look up to or get inspired by?
My mom definitely taught us at a young age to care about our appearances. She taught me how to shave my legs. Also my dad’s (Robert Kardashian) Fiancé at the time who we were so close with got Kim and I makeup lessons. We would buy all the makeup that the girl put on us in the makeup lesson. It was really heavy makeup but it was fun. My mom always used to have the best makeup, especially YSL makeup. My mom had all the special YSL compacts. All their newest special anniversary editions, and colors! She used to wear a fuchsia lipstick in the 80’s, and Kim and I used to love it. Kim and I used to go through my mom’s drawers for makeup.

Who are some of your favorite designers and how would you describe your own style?
I like to mix stuff. Major designers with fun stuff I buy at the mall. I wear things that are not always expected. I do follow trends, but I think it is really important to know which trends are good for yourself. I have a bohemian style and an eclectic style, and a mix of different other styles. Sometimes I’m all about bohemian and other times I’m all about the comfort. Kim would wear whatever looks good, I have to be somewhat comfortable. And I’m a huge shoe person. I love all different shoe brands such as YSL and Armani. This season I actually bought a lot of Louis Vuittons. I feel that’s where I spend most of my money on, shoes!

Since you have such big love for shoes, do you have any plans for creating your own shoe line?
Kim ,my sister, is actually doing ShoeDazzle on www.shoedazzle.com For me, I love high end designer shoes, but I would prefer to do clothes more than shoes. Just because I love them so much I don’t want to ruin it.

You did Maxim recently, how would you describe your experience, were you nervous?
I was nervous, because with Maxim there is a lot of pressure to be sexy. I didn’t know what they wanted me to wear, and I didn’t want to show too much. I was really happy at the end because the stylist was amazing. Like in one of the looks we did black skinny jeans with a black bra, or a motorcycle jacket with little booty shots. So with each look it wasn’t showing everything. And in another look I did a 40’s kind of look as a pin-up girl wearing a one piece bathing suit. So picking up cool clothes and styles that I actually really liked made me feel confident during the photo shoot with Maxim.

What is the best part being of being in the hit show: keeping Up With The Kardashians?
Being with my family! Hanging out with your family at the show almost forces you to deal with issues that come up. When we do this little sit down interviews, they ask you things like how do you feel at this moment. In real life, especially with family, you know you are going to forgive each other so you don’t always talk through issues. You say let’s go shopping and everything is fine. Keeping Up With The Kardashians show forces me to deal with my feelings. I don’t know if I could do this if it wasn’t with my family though. The show brings our family so much closer.

What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of becoming famous?
I think it is kind of weird because I don’t really notice it as much because I feel I stay in my comfort zone. Like right now I’m actually downtown buying clothes for my kid’s store Smooch. I just keep doing the same normal things I like to do. Also where we live in Calabasas there isn’t paparazzi so it is easy to get on with your normal life. I know everyone from Calabasas for so many years. When I go out with Kim and Khloe in Hollywood or even by myself, if I’m out meeting friends, or when traveling for appearances only then and there when I notice the attention. I think it’s weird, I don’t think I fully get it yet. I love going to the mall, I’m such a mall rat. I love just walking around in the mall. One of the producers of our show asked me how do I even got to the mall? I tell him that I just go and walk around and do what I want to do. You can’t let it stop your life. Be yourself and don’t take yourself too seriously.

If you could in one word describe Kim & Khloe what that would be?
I would say Kim is a princess. When we were little I was the older sister and the boss. I used to boss Kim around, but she would remain a princess. Kim is also very sweet. You don’t necessarily always see this side of Kim on the show. They don’t always show all the good stuff. They show Kim as the diva, and that’s just one side to her. For the most part, Kim is very sweet and generous. Kim has a princess mind set. She wants a prince charming, that’s what she believes in. Kim also gets whatever she wants.

I would say Khloe is definitely hilarious and funny. One thing people don’t know about Khloe is that she is super sensitive. People who watch keeping Up With The Kardashians might say Khloe is such a bitch on the show, but Khloe is super sensitive and would do anything for any of us. If anyone would say something bad about me she would be extremely protective.

What’s next for Kourtney?
Khloe and I are going to Miami. In the next few weeks we are going to Miami to shoot our own spin-off show: Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami. We are going to be in Miami for the summer and open our second Dash store. They are going to film the all thing and it’s going to be on E! Networks. It should air in August 2009. Khloe and I are very excited about that. Kim is actually coming with us to start and get the store going, and then it’s just going to be khloe and I.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning or before going out? Are you a low maintenance person or a high maintenance person?
At night time before going out I take about an hour to get ready. In the mornings I take 30 minutes. I would say I’m pretty low maintenance.

What’s in your makeup bag right now?
I love Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, and a Smashbox bronzer. My favorite mascara is Lancôme Extencils. My favorite blush is NARS Orgasm. My favorite foundation is Make Up For Ever HD or High Definition. And I love the new MAC Dazzleglass lipgloss. I love the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer.

What is your favorite nail polish?
I like the OPI brand in general, they have great colors. But this summer I’ve been into this florescent orange pink nail polish from an unknown cheap brand that I’ve found at the nail place. It’s called Hot Pink, it is a florescent pinkish orange, the perfect color.

What is your number one beauty secret or beauty philosophy?
Lots of sleep, I have to sleep at least 8 hours and an eye cream. Kim and I started using eye cream like in seventh grade. We even used to put opened vitamin E oil capsules on our eye lashes to make it grow.

What is your favorite body wash & body lotion?.
Kim, Khloe and I love Johnson & Johnson baby body lotion. My favorite body wash is Philosophy Crème Brulee Shampoo,Shower Gel & Bubble Bath. It’s amazing!

What type of scents or fragrance are you into?
My favorite perfumes are Jivago, Michael by Michael Kors, and Quelques Fleurs.

What are some of your favorite hair care products?
I love Frederic Fekkai products, especially their shampoo and conditioner. I don’t like to use hair styling products unless someone else is doing my hair.

What are some of your favorite skincare products?
I don’t really do a whole skincare routine, I do however, love Peter Thomas Roth eye cream and Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads. I also use Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub.

Which city do you love the most?
I love Monaco. I’m not sure it’s my favorite city but I know I’ve been craving to go back. We went to Italy, Florence and Milan, and Venice and I just cannot wait to get back to Monaco again. In the U.S. I love Miami and I’m so excited to live there.

What’s your favorite drink?
A Margarita on the rocks with salt. And I love Vitamin water, the 10 calories one.

Lauren Luke is a self-taught makeup guru watched by 39 million on her YouTube channel.

Growing up in the proud yet humble English town of South Shields, Lauren posted her first tutorial on YouTube just 18 months ago. The 27-year-old single mother started posting the videos to enhance her gig selling makeup on Ebay - an opportunity she seized so she could quit her job as a taxi dispatcher and spend more time with her then 9 -year-old son, Jordan.

Lauren Luke was called “The World’s Most Popular Makeup Artist” by the BBC, her new color cosmetics line By Lauren Luke launched on April 27th, 2009 and the rest is history.

In this interview Lauren Luke talks to Marta Walsh about how it all began for her with makeup. Her New Makeup line: By Lauren Luke and the inspiration behind it. Her feelings about becoming famous. Her philosophy about beauty and future plans.

When did your fascination with makeup begin? Did you ever have a formal training in makeup?
It started when I was 13. I wanted to be a bit prettier at school to fit in. I was inspired by Bob Ross who is a painter. Because I love color, I attached to it quickly. I never had any formal training.

What compelled you to do makeup tutorials on You Tube?
There was nothing exciting about the way that I started. It was a hobby. No one took it serious. They all wondered what I was doing. I just wanted to show people what I knew. Luckily, people wanted to watch which spurred me to do more.

Why do you think your makeup tutorials received such great response?
Because they are real. People see me as I am. In real life. I try and be as honest as I can. I am not intimidating looking, nothing to be jealous of. People have said ‘you’re very approachable’.

How did you go about creating By Lauren Luke makeup line? Where did you find the inspiration for the collection?

How did you decide on a career in acting, and what were some of your first breaks as an actress?
I loved the theatre. I got into a professional theatre troupe when I was in High School. We toured around the Chicago suburbs doing musicals. It was like a 2nd family for me. There is such a kinship in the arts and I knew I wanted to be a part of it forever.

I got lucky when I landed (alone) in LA. I was cast in a string of popular sit-coms all produced at the Warner Bros studio. (Friends, Suddenly Susan, Just Shoot Me, Drew Carrey) This led to me auditioning for Hyperion Bay, which was my 1st series regular job. I had only been in LA for 2 years at that point. And from there—I was off and running in television.

What attracted you to Tracy Clark, Naomi’s Mom, on the hit CW series Beverly Hills 90210?
Really… What didn’t attract me to Tracy Clark?#$>#!* She is such a great character. She is rich– like crazy rich and lonely- like crazy lonely and desperate. This is a recipe for disaster, which, for an actress, means lots of great stuff to do. I love the storyline between her and Harry. And I am still looking forward to finding our real SON!!! Plus Naomi is a red, hot mess and being her mom is a roller coaster ride- for sure.

How would you describe your acting role in HawthoRNe on TNT, and was it difficult to play it emotionally?
Candy Sullivan is very different from Tracy Clark. It has been a challenge switching from one to the other. Nurse Candy is grounded and sure of herself. She works with her own set of rules, rules that maybe only she understands. I have had interesting discussions with the producers about her mysterious nature. I am sure that Candy has secrets, but I don’t know how long it is going to take for them to come out. So, to answer your question, yes, it has been difficult to play her- emotionally & mentally. But I love every minute of it.

What was it like meeting Jada Pinkett Smith on set of HawthoRNe, and the rest of the cast?
Jada is a dream. She is kind and generous and so full of life. She is as big as a minute, but NEVER underestimate her joie de vivre. Her life force is huge and magnetic.

My other cast mates are great. I especially enjoy David Julian Hirsh, who plays Ray. He and I relate, off camera, much like Candy and Ray. It is a playful tug o war.

What is next for Christina Moore?
We shall see…. Juggling 2 TV series has kept me very busy, but work begets work, so watch out, I might just add a feature film to my to do list any day now.

I keep my hair beautiful thanks to…
L’Oreal Professionnel Expert- Absolut Repair- (shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner): it is the best at repairing my damaged ends and keeping my hair from looking fuzzy & broken.

Moroccan Oil: after shower, before blow-dry. This oil smoothes out the frizzies and protects my hair from the heat. Plus, it smells like a tropical vacation.

My favorite skincare products are…
Mannatech Optimal Face Wash: it is creamy and doesn’t dry out my skin
Kinara Intense Moisturizer: I can’t live without it. VERY HYDRATING—and again, the smell, like vanilla cookies. Yummy.

I get my eyelashes looking long, full, and sexy using…
Cover Girl Lash Blast (in the orange tube) – the best everyday mascara
FRESH (tube: black, covered in white flowers)- very good
THE BEST- Dior (it only lasts for one month- so I save it for special occasions)

The best lip-gloss I ever owned…
This is the hardest question for me. I LOVE lip-gloss. If I was left on an island and I could only have one thing—it would be lip-gloss. I carry about 12 different tubes in my purse everyday.
Liplicious- tasty lip color (from Bath and Body works) in Frozen Blackberry. It is creamy and glossy and tastes good- I wear it the most.

Other mentionables:
Lancôme- Juicy Tubes
Hourglass- in Search
Mirabella- Outshine-in Subtle

My signature fragrance is…
Bulgari- Pour Femme (the yellow one)
I LOVE IT!!!

The one beauty product you will always find in my purse is…
Cle de Peau correcteur visage concealer in beige.
Nothing works as well for under the eyes. NOTHING!

My number one beauty secret is…
Vitamins- I take supplements every day and they have kept me healthy from the inside out. Mannatech makes a packet with all of the essentials. I have some in my car, my purse, next to bed, just in case.

The celebrity I find most beautiful is…
Jessica Lange- her grace and fragility and endurance. WOW.

The city I love the most…
Rome, Italy. I have been 3 times in the past 5 years. I can’t get enough of it. I find the presence of ancient history to be comforting- calming. You just know how small you are in the history of the world standing in awe of the Pantheon.

One or two things some people may not know about Christina Moore…

I love country music. It is really all I listen to. I go to the concerts- I buy the mp3’s. I am a true FAN.

If I wasn’t an actor, I would like to be a serial killer profiler.

I love Nacho Cheese Doritos.

What inspired you to write your book: Diary of Dating?
I wanted to give women a more realistic feel into the dating world and let them know they are not alone out there. We all have had (most of us anyway) more crummy dates then good ones! Over and above that fact is that I love to write!

How would you describe Diary of Dating? What’s the book’s premise?
Diary of Dating, is a heartfelt, thought provoking, romantic comedy. It takes a contemporary look into the world of dating through the eyes of a beautiful single woman, as she keeps a dairy of her dating mishaps and adventures. She´s confident, has no inhibitions, embraces her sexuality and yet…she´s still single. Dating athletes, lawyers and every ‘Joe’ in between, her search for love takes her through a string of hilariously bad dates. Along the way she learns crucial lessons about what it is she really wants in a relationship and in life. It is a journey through the silly, sexy, playful world of dating and her quest to find Mr. Right.

New York City was a big character in Sex and the City. Which city plays a big role in Diary of Dating and do you find some cities tougher for dating than other?
Los Angeles and New York are both mentioned in the book. I think dating can be tough in any city. It seems that so many around the world, city to city, are looking for that one person to share their life with.

How much of yourself is reflected in Diary of Dating’s main character?
Being that I’m single I can certainly relate to the main character in the book, there’s no doubt about that.

If you had to make Diary of Dating the book into a film or a TV Series, which actors or actresses would you pick for the leading roles?
Cameron Diaz could pull off the character in the book. She’s silly, sassy, smart, sexy, kind, she’s also very witty, and has a great goofy side to her in some of her roles, and that’s just whom the character is in the book! Eva Mendes or Sanaa Lathan could pull it off as well. Both are great actors, yet edgy.

What message did you intend to give all single women out there through your book?
To not give up in finding love, to open your heart and dance in the rain when the opportunity is presented and enjoy getting your hair wet!

What is your philosophy about beauty?
As cliché as it is, true beauty comes from within, someone who has the gift to make people feel comfortable in any situation, it’s icing on the cake if someone has the looks to go with their inner beauty, kindness goes extremely far, inner beauty undoubtedly is the best kind of beauty there is! People who possess a true inner beauty, their eyes shine a little more, their soul illuminates, their vibe is just different ~

What is your favorite city in the world?
I’ve been blessed to have traveled to some amazing places, St. Barth, The French Rivera, St. Tomas, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Cabo, and every time I’m some place, I always say "Oh, this is my favorite place".

What other passions do you have besides writing?
Chase and Fletcher, the two greatest guys I know!!! As a breast cancer survivor, I am also involved in a non- profit organization called "Package of Prevention" based in Los Angeles, it’s dedicated to educating all individuals regardless of age, race, gender, and income level about cancer prevention and the importance of early detection.
What’s next for Danielle Elizabeth?

Jennifer Higgins has launched Miss Oops together with her mother, Terry Goodwin, with a mission of providing women with beauty saving, problem solving products that make life easier.

Prior to motherhood, Jennifer Higgins was an award winning journalist for ten years. She also spent some time in pharmaceutical sales before putting her business days behind in exchange for “baby days” at home. As a full time mother of two small children, it wasn’t long before Jennifer was thinking of ways to simplify her life. Seeking to combine her passion for motherhood with her savvy business experience, Jennifer Higgins recognized that there was a consumer demand for problem solving products and sought out to create a brand dedicated to this purpose.

In this interview, Jennifer Higgins talks to Marta Walsh about how the concept for Miss Oops was born, some of the most common Oops moments women experience and how she learns about them, her favorite Miss Oops products, which Miss Oops products are hot for spring, and her beauty secrets.

How was the concept for Miss Oops born?
The concept of Miss Oops was born when I was buying a black dress to wear to a friend’s wedding. The one I selected at the boutique had deodorant streaks all across the front of the dress. The woman helping me removed a piece of foam off a hanger and rubbed it against the white marks. They quickly disappeared! However, when I got my dress back from the dry cleaners, the area in which she had rubbed was damaged (the type of foam was not the correct type to use) – this incident sparked my first idea to create the Miss Oops Rescue Sponge.

How would you describe your role at Miss Oops?
I am currently the President of Miss Oops and I also launched this company with my mother, Terry Goodwin. I am very involved in every step of the way including creating the products, distributing the products and overseeing all marketing and strategic efforts.Where do you draw your inspiration when creating your products and what is the creative process like?
The concept for all of the products is simple: attractive, tote-friendly products that offer practical solutions to everyday problems. What are some of the most common ‘Oops’ moments women experience and how do you learn about them?
All of our products are created based on some “oops” moments that we have had ourselves or that our close family or friends have been through. Some of the most common moments for women on a daily basis are getting deodorant marks on their clothing, showing their backside while bending over wearing low rise jeans, or revealing too much cleavage in a low-cut top. Everyone has their own “oops” moment every day and I love hearing about different consumers stories – it inspires me to create new products.Which Miss Oops products are your personal favorites?
The Miss Oops Rescue Sponge. I’m probably partial to this partly because it was our first product but also because I still use it all the time. Not just to remove deodorant marks, but tons of things including a variety of smudges from my kids clothing.Which Miss Oops products are most requested by your customers?
That’s a tough one. It really depends on the type of customer asking for a product. From pregnant women, we get more requests for Popper Stoppers. From beauty-junkies, Pedicure In a Bottle is the most requested. Still, the Rescue Sponges and Mishap Tape seem to be requested by all our customers. It also depends on the season. Right now with spring here, our Boob Tubes and JAKs are our #1 sellers.

Which new Miss Oops products do we expect to see in the upcoming seasons?
We have some three new products coming out for the summer 2009 season that are beauty-focused items. They include the following items:
• Goblet Goop ($25.00)—Sunshine doesn’t stop when it reaches your neck—neither should your sunscreen. A moisturizing and firming neck cream, Goblet Goop protects and firms the delicate skin of the neck with SPF 30, algae, yeast, rosemary and Echinacea extracts, helping skin retain moisture while enhancing firmness and promoting collagen. Protect your goblet and keep the dreaded turkey neck at bay with Goblet Goop.

• Block Your Locks ($14.00)—Hair color fading fast? Don’t knock your locks—Block Your Locks with Miss Oops. The SPF 15 finishing spray prevents color from fading between hair appointments from sun exposure. Just style your hair as usual, then spray a light coat of Block Your Locks on hair, paying special attention to the ends. The non-greasy, lightweight formula is an affordable way to extend the life of your hair color.

• Air She Blows ($8.50)—Does it ever seem like eye shadow ends up everywhere but your lids? From under your eyes to on your white shirt, that pesky powder can get on everything—and nothing screams “look at my crow’s feet!” like sparking shadow stuck in your foundation. Miss Oops blows the problem away with Air She Blows, a concentrated burst of air that instantly disperses the powder. No tugging, no smudging, no pore-clogging—the simple solution whisks mineral makeup and other loose powder away with a single puff.

What is your best kept beauty secret?
Sleep and water. I guess these aren’t really “beauty secrets” but they are the two that do the most wonders for me. And that says A LOT because I have tons of beauty products and love using them all.

What is your philosophy about beauty?
My philosophy about beauty is that every woman should have products in her life that make their everyday routine just a little bit easier. We always ensure that we design and create all of the Miss Oops products to provide multi-tasking benefits at an affordable cost for all women.

What other passions do you have besides Miss Oops?
I have many including spending time with Jack & Sam, reading, cooking, running, and sleeping.

I met Nicolas at a Givenchy breakfast in New York City and was absolutely mesmerized with his speech. Nicolas made me fall in love with Givenchy, makeup, beauty, and being a woman. I had to share my life changing experience meeting Nicolas with you.

In this interview Nicolas Degennes takes us back to Paris at age 16 where the love for art and beauty began for him, his philosophy about makeup, memorable celebrity collaborations such as with Monica Bellucci, Kristin Scott Thomas and Liv Taylor. Some of the must-have Givenchy products in every woman’s makeup bag, and where he finds his biggest inspirations in life.

When did your fascination with beauty begin?
My passion with makeup and the arts began when I was a child. I left Paris at the tender age of 16 to follow my dream to study the arts, music, theater and photography. While exploring my fascination with arts in a fresh and inspiring environment, I befriended a great makeup artist in New York who introduced me to the world of makeup. Beauty and makeup became my newfound passion, and I have been working in this field ever since.

What were some of your first big breaks in the beauty industry?
One of my memorable breaks was working as a makeup artist for the American band, On Stage, in France. I began to travel widely, working as a makeup artist in many countries. I was hired by the French TV Channel Canal +, and was quickly promoted from head makeup artist to the channel’s Artistic Director. Meanwhile, I worked on everything from the Cesars (the French Oscars) and the Cannes Film Festival to music videos and films.

What is your makeup philosophy?
My philosophy is that makeup is freedom… Freedom to become whoever you want to be in that moment…to experiment…to create…to express…

What have been some of your most memorable celebrity collaborations so far, and which celebrity would you like to do makeup for in the future?
In the past, I have worked well with Monica Bellucci, Vincent Cassel, Kristin Scott Thomas, Fanny Ardant, Charlotte Rampling, and of course, Liv Tyler. Working with Liv for the past few years has been wonderful because what started as a working relationship has now become a friendship. These women may be celebrities, but they are real women who create and inspire, as I believe all women do, so I don’t have any one person in mind that I want to work with, as all women continue to inspire me.

What was the creative process like behind Givenchy’s Maharani Spring 2009 makeup collection?
I was greatly drawn to the exoticism and beauty of India during my travels. I was attracted to the energy, spirit and vibrancy of colors as seen in Bollywood films, so I wanted to create a collection blazing with colors that paid homage to Indian beauty.

Which Givenchy makeup products are must-haves in every woman’s makeup bag?
Phenomen’Eyes Mascara is a must-have because it revolutionized the way women apply mascara and maximized the results they can now achieve, as the wand grabs each and every lash. Right now, I am also loving the Magic Kajal Eye Pencil, which is like a crayon and gives you an intense black line, inspired by Indian women using kohl. And skin is always very important, so the new PhotoPerfexion Fluid Foundation I created (launching April 09) gives women a very natural, flawless complexion, as if they have been touched up.

Givenchy’s Phenomen Eyes Mascara is truly innovative new mascara. How does it work to give us the best lashes in the world?
The incredible results of Phenomen’Eyes are a combination of the spherical brush and the formula. The round brush allows for you to grab every lash, including the tiniest corner lashes, and it also grabs from the very root, lining the lid. The formula is wetter than most, so you have maximum play time with your mascara to get your lashes perfect before the formula dries. Phenomen’Eyes offers a faultless way of applying mascara, curling and separating every lash to instantly outline and enhance the eyes.

How would you describe your experience as Givenchy’s Le Makeup Artistic Director?
It is a challenge, but at the same time exhilarating. I have been in this role for 10 years now and found that time moves quickly when you are living your passion.

What makeup look do we expect to see at Givenchy in the upcoming season?
My inspiration for my Summer 2009 collection is a sunny greeting from paradise! The monsoon season… Those summer days when rain and the warmth of the sun merge sensually together to caress the skin with shimmering, pure drops of light, bringing all of the senses to life. This season’s palettes create a glowing and luminous complexion with lots of shimmer and shine, capturing the glistening of the sun and glimmer from water.

You talk a lot about the concept of freedom when it comes to women, makeup, and beauty. What are some simple steps a woman can take to find this freedom?
Makeup is ever changing. Women should feel free to try new things; makeup is the freedom of expression. I can’t stress enough, please don’t be scared when applying makeup. Do what you feel because makeup is freedom.

What are some of your biggest inspirations in life?
I have always had the urge to be present with time. My inspiration derives from my personal experiences in life. I’ve developed a strong attachment to Asia and Morocco, so it is during my time spent in these places that my makeup and my passion for life is ignited and inspired. I am also greatly inspired by science-fiction. There are no limits to my imagination, and I am continually listening and watching the innovations in the world.

What other passions do you have besides helping women look beautiful?
Currently, I am working very hard on planning an exhibition this coming April in Paris, which will celebrate my work over the past 10 wonderful years at Givenchy, and a compilation of personal works of art as well. I am excited to be sharing my art and work with the world.

How did you decide on a career in acting, and what were some of your first breaks as an actress?

I started out as a dancer which got me on stage. I was pretty shy as a kid so my mom decided to enroll me in a dance class, and I fell in love with being on stage and performing. I danced all through my teens and early 20’s. Dancing brought me down to Los Angeles with a dance scholarship in UCLA. I heard that you can actually make money as dancer, so I got a dance agent and began working in commercials, music videos, and the Grammys. I did that for about 6 years. I then decided to pursue acting. I was so in love with being on set and movie making. I loved movies since I was a baby. It was the only thing that would calm me down. I was very colicky as a child so my mom would take me to watch movies. Grease was the movie that would stop me from crying. Dancing, performing, and being on stage is all I’ve done forever, it’s all I really know.

Tell us about your dancing roles in The Big Lebowski (1999) and Mike Myers’ Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged ME (1999)?

The Big Lebowski was very cool, and I love that I’m in it, it’s one of my favorite movies. But the experience was torture because as one of the bowling pin girls on the set I had to wear a 2 and half foot high bowling pin head dress made out of heavy wood. It had to be secured on our heads. It would squeeze our brains it was so tight. The other dancers with me on the set and I couldn’t take the head dresses off because they were such pain to put back on. By the end of the shoot no one was talking to each other, we just sat there with our heads between our legs. Our costume weighted about 50 pounds, we couldn’t’t even go to the bathroom. It was hysterical and not glamorous at all. Being on Austin Powers film was the opposite experience. We were shooting in a secret mansion in Malibu, 76 degrees outside, blue skies, and we just hang out all day. Only my arm with a tennis racket ended up on screen and you can’t even see me. So sad!

How would you describe your character in The Ugly Truth film with Katherine Heigl?

I play Joy, Katherine Heigl’s best friend and co-worker. Katherine Heigl’s character in The Ugly Truth, Abby Richter, is a Type A, very professional, workaholic, and uptight with her love life. She even schedules her dates. She meets Gerard Butler, Mike Alexander, who is a bad boy. I’m the voice of reason for her, I push her when she needs to get out of her comfort zone. I’m there for her when she is complaining. It is a sparkly and fun romantic comedy that is actually honest and not manipulative. The relationships in the film are not forced. It was an easy relationship for me on screen and it was therefore super fun. It was a sweet bubbly role and I had good time doing it!

What was it like working with Katherine Heigl and everyone on the set?

It couldn’t be an easier experience. It was effortless. It truly didn’t feel like we were working

Which other Hollywood actors/actresses inspire you with your own acting?

Katharine Hepburn was phenomenal, I would have loved to work with her. She was such a force, competing with all the boys of her time. She was quick and witty with her on screen persona. Philadelphia Story (1940) is one of my all time favorite romantic comedies. Diane Keaton and Debra Winger are delightful and deliciously humane on film and unexpected with their choices. Kate Winslet is timeless and a chameleon, she can play any age and any era. I deeply respect her talent. Kate Hudson is the cutest and makes me laugh.

If you ever won an Oscar, who would be some of the people you would thank?

My aunt Shelly who has been with me since day one of my career, she is a great support for me. My family, they never pressured me to get a ‘real job’ when times I wasn’t’t working. They are my support system since I was little girl. And my husband.

What is next for Bree Turner?

I’m in a middle of shooting a Cinfu movie. I always wanted to do an action film. My dream scene is a slow motion shot of me with a huge ridicules gun and a bikini walking towards the camera. Who doesn’t want that slow motion moment of them as a bad ass?

Was it tough being photographed for Maxim?

It was challenging at first but then I’ve loosened up and we actually had a really good time. I have a hard time standing still in front of the camera, so I’m not sure I’m best as a model. It is very unnatural for me to hold a pose. Then you get a bit conscious about your body parts. Having an adorable 20 something woman photographer by the name of Kelly Stewart helped! That definitely relaxed me, I thought as a woman she knew which were the right poses for me.

I keep my hair beautiful thanks to…

Kerastase Chroma Protect it gives my hair texture, and prevents by blonde hair from turning brassy.

My favorite skincare products are…

When I’m feeling super fancy I like to use skincare products from 3LAB. They have this cream that changed my skin! It’s called WW Cream, it’s expensive but I justify my purchase because it lasts me a long time. It totally minimized my pores, it gives a porcelain look to it, it’s amazing. I also love Neutrogena and their Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. It’s the best! I also like Neutrogena Ultra-Soft Eye Makeup Remover Pads, ideal when you travel. It doesn’t’t leave any icky residue or greasiness.

I get my eyelashes looking long, full, and sexy using…

Whatever packaging looks good, I’ll go with that, but right now I’m using Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Mascaras. You can buy them at the Victoria’s Secret store and they are only $5 for 4 mascaras. They come in different cool shades like navy, purple, and green, and black.

The best lip-gloss I ever owned…

I love Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss because it tastes like caramel and it stays on for long time. It’s kind of sticky but I like it. If you want to wear a lip gloss you can’t be afraid that it’s sticky!

My signature fragrance is…Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir, it was given to me as a gift. At first I did’t like it that much. I’m a floral fruity type of fragrance girl and this one is woodsy. Then I start wearing it, and now I’m addicted to it! In high school I used to wear Jessica McClintock.

The one beauty product you will always find in my makeup bag is…

Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy which I like to use underneath my lipstick, because I’ve developed some kind of lipstick allergy.

My number one beauty secret is…My beauty mantra is look like I’m not wearing makeup or the the no makeup makeup look. I also really love smoky eyes. I use MAC Eye Kohl Liner in Teddy which is a red brown shade with a bit of a sparkle. I apply it in the inner rim of my eyes, they immediately pop out yet look very natural. And my indulgent is getting my hair professionally blown out once a week. I feel a bit like a 50’s housewife, but it really lasts especially with a dry shampoo. To keep the blow out last, at night I put my hair in a scratchy. When I take it down in the morning and my hair has this great wave to it. This rally changed my life, lol.

I keep fit thanks to…

I work out, I’m not going to lie. I eat small portions. My weakness is candy like Gummy Bears in sour watermelon. I purposely don’t buy things that I’m going to binge on. My husband is not pleased because there is never anything interesting to eat in my kitchen. I also try to do something active everyday like go to the gym, a dance class, walk, and I take the stairs instead of the elevator.

The city I love the most…

New York City! I have a person inside me that would love to live in New York. I would love to do a show there for six months, rent a flat, and live the New York City lifestyle. Los Angeles will always remain our home base because it’s so easy to live here, the weather, the ocean, and the mountains. But there is energy to New York City that nowhere else in the world has.

One or two things some people may not know about Bree Turner…I’m really good at video games, and like to stay up late watching TV. Like the other day, I watched Big Love until 4am!

When did your fascination with dentistry begin?
Having undergone an extensive smile makeover myself, I was fascinated by how such a small change could have such a large impact on someone’s self-esteem. That was the beginning of my fascination with dentistry—and my desire to help others achieve that same feeling.

How would you describe the “Dr McCargar” dentist experience?
My staff and I understand the anxiety that accompanies many people’s visit to the dentist. This is why we are committed to making sure that our patients receive a lot of TLC during their time with us. Providing our patients with many of the comforts of home helps to put them at ease and make the experience of a smile makeover even more rewarding.

What advice can you give for selecting the right dentist?
I believe that the right dentist interacts closely with their patients. For me, interacting with patients is a key to understanding what’s important to them. I take a personal interest in my patient’s lives, learning their vision of a perfect smile. Then together, we work to deliver those ideals.

What are some common concerns people have with their teeth?
One of the most common concerns that I have heard has to do with the safety of silver (amalgam) fillings. Silver (amalgam) fillings have been used to fill cavities since the 1800s. In recent years, the safety of these fillings has come under scrutiny because the amalgam used in the fillings is composed of mercury, silver, copper, and tin, and in high levels, mercury can be toxic. After reviewing 34 recent studies, the FDA (in 2006) declared that these types of fillings are still a safe and effective option for treating cavities. At Scottsdale Dental Arts, we are committed to providing you with the safest dental treatment possible, and as such, we offer only resin composite (tooth colored) fillings for our patients. These fillings are a safe, effective way to treat cavities, and offer the added benefit of being more esthetically appealing because they blend better with the natural color of your teeth.

What advice can you give to anyone who needs to get braces?
Braces are often a great way to help create a healthy, beautiful smile. For those concerned about unsightly bands, wires or brackets that can irritate the mouth, Invisalign is often an effective alternative to traditional braces. Invisalign uses a series of invisible aligners to gently move your teeth to achieve that perfect smile. Using 3-D computer technology, your dentist will create a plan to straighten your teeth using a series of clear, removable aligners. As your teeth begin to move, you will continue to contour your smile by changing your aligners approximately every two weeks. As part of your treatment, you will be required to visit your dentist every month to check your progression and to receive new aligners. The average treatment time with Invisalign is approximately 12 months, and throughout treatment you will be able to easily remove the aligners so that you can eat your favorite foods while continuing to brush and floss normally for optimal oral health.

What is Zoom! Whitening? Is it painful and would it make my teeth sensitive?
Whitening your teeth can be one of the easiest things that you can do to improve the quality of your smile. Our office offers the most reliable teeth whitening products on the market today. Using the Opalescence Boost and Zoom! in-office tooth whitening systems, a hydrogen peroxide based self-activating gel is applied to your teeth over four 15-minute sessions during one convenient appointment. This is then followed by a brief fluoride treatment. In just a single visit, you can improve the brightness of your smile by up to 10 shades! Very few patients experience tooth sensitivity following the procedure, and, with touchups and routine care, the effects of both whitening systems can last indefinitely.

Which toothbrush do you recommend for daily brushing?
Always use a soft-bristled toothbrush with toothpaste that contains fluoride. Brush using a gentle up and down motion, and make sure to clean all sides of your teeth, as well as your tongue. Electric toothbrushes, such as those produced by Sonicare and Oral B, also provide a great, gentle cleaning, and we are pleased to offer these for purchase at your dental appointment.

Which simple daily routine do you recommend for maintaining healthy teeth?
Brushing and flossing are two of the most important steps you can take to achieve optimum oral health. Not only do brushing and flossing keep your teeth clean, but done together they can actually add years to your life by eliminating dangerous bacteria that lives around your teeth. Recent studies have found that this bacteria causes infection that can spread into your blood stream and cause heart disease. So for a clean mouth and a happy heart, we recommend that you brush at least twice a day and floss at least one time per day.

Can anyone achieve a “Hollywood Smile”?
With a smile makeover and good oral hygiene, anyone can achieve a “Hollywood Smile.” If your teeth are stained, chipped, misaligned or crooked, porcelain veneers may be just what you need to give you the healthy smile that you have always wanted. Made of porcelain, these thin restorations fit securely over your natural teeth are and virtually undetectable. They are stain-resistant and durable, and can be color matched to your existing teeth or lightened to brighten up a dull smile.

What is your philosophy about beauty?
I believe that beauty comes from within. It is the harmony of the mind, body and soul. Physical beauty is cultivated by healthy habits and self care. A healthy body leads to higher self-esteem and a positive outlook on life—both and soul.

What do you love most about being a dentist?
I love helping my patients achieve optimum oral health and the beautiful smile that they have always wanted.

When did your fascination with plastic surgery begin? My fascination with surgery began when I was in junior high, and one of our science projects was to dissect a pig. My science teacher told me I was going to be a surgeon after I completed the project in one day, after my lab partner left the room in disgust. As for plastic surgery, I decided I enjoyed the realm of producing visible surgical results and the immediate gratification that comes with that when I was a medical student in Texas.Which procedures surgical and non-surgical do you perform?

Surgical: Breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, rhinoplasty, eyelid lift, browlift, facelift, liposuction, tummy tuck, arm lift (brachioplasty), otoplasty (ear pinning), breast reconstruction, lesion excision, facial reconstruction after skin cancer, cleft lip and palate repair. Non-surgical: Botox, Restylane, Radiesse, and Juvederm injection, chemical peels.

What are some challenges, if any, do you have being a woman plastic surgeon?

In my opinion, young women in any profession have more hurdles to jump than their male counterparts, whether that field is broadcasting, government, medicine, law, or technology. This has to do with preconceived societal notions and norms that people expect women to fit into, and the way women are expected to look, act, and react to situations we are confronted with. Women also tend to juggle more as they wear so many different “hats” with childcare, childbearing, arrangement of household care, coordination of family life with profession, etc. That being said I have a wonderful practice with a very large female demographic, so I do indeed think that women appreciate having female doctor.

You appear on TV and comment in many beauty magazines. Where does your passion for sharing your knowledge come from?

I used to be extremely shy as I child, so I find it wonderful that so many people ask my opinion and care to hear about it. Sharing knowledge in a public forum is another dimension of my profession that I find to be very rewarding and at times challenging; if I can effectively communicate and educate folks on a particular surgery or a disease process then I feel better at the end of the day about what I am doing.

“Beauty starts from the inside.
What do we need to look for when searching for the right plastic surgeon?

You should look for a plastic surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and who has done many of the procedure that you are seeking. Ask questions, look at his or her before and after photographs on that procedure, and ask to speak to a previous patient if necessary. At the very least, you should feel quite comfortable with your surgeon and her staff; if he or she gives you the creeps or makes you feel nervous, chances are that particular surgeon is not the right fit for you. Choose a surgeon who operates in an accredited office facility or hospital, and has privileges at a local hospital so that if an unforeseen emergency occurs, you will be treated in an expeditious and safe manner.

What advice can you give to teenagers who are considering plastic surgery?

First of all, teenagers that are entering into plastic surgery must have the approval and consent of a parent since they are minors. If the patient’s legal guardian and the teenage patient agree upon the planned procedure and the plastic surgeon thinks that the procedure will be of benefit to the patient, then they can move forward. Surgeries like rhinoplasty (nasal reshaping), otoplasty (ear pinning), and breast lift or reduction can be very beneficial to a young person’s self-esteem. The teenager must be emotionally mature enough to understand what he or she is undergoing, as well as the recuperation time off from school and sports activities required for its success. If all of these things line up, then the teenager will likely have a positive experience and outcome.

I would advise the teen and her parents to research the procedure and surgeon, and go to a plastic surgeon who is comforting, knowledgeable, and understands the teenager’s motivations.

How much will a breast augmentation and a rhinoplasty will hurt physically and our pocket?

Physically, breast augmentation should not be excruciatingly painful. My patients usually describe a period in the first 3-5 days of discomfort and muscle tightness. Any acute pain after surgery is relieved by intravenous pain medications given at the surgical facility, and once you are home, if you feel pain coming on then it can be treated with prescription analgesics filled prior to the procedure. Rhinoplasty is not a tremendously painful procedure either. Patients describe a headache-type pain and nasal stuffiness that is relieved with pain medications and subsides within the first 48 hours. Financially, breast augmentation surgery in New York costs anywhere between $6-10,000, depending upon where you are having the procedure done and who’s doing it. Rhinoplasty typically costs between $7000-12,000. A portion of your rhinoplasty procedure called septoplasty (to straighten a deviated septum) may be covered by insurance, and average prices vary from one region of the country to another..

What have been the key innovations in plastic surgery over the past few years?

Lasers for melting fat, ultrasonic fat reduction that does not require incisions and is completely noninvasive (Ultrashape), fat injections to the breast for breast implant and breast reconstruction-related deformities, highly cohesive shaped breast implants (Style 410 and Contour Profile Gel), newer hyaluronic acid wrinkle fillers that are not permanent and are more natural-feeling and appearing (Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm).

In your opinion, what were some of the best celebrity plastic surgery makeovers?

Ashlee Simpson is a beautiful girl who had a nicely done rhinoplasty, possible chin surgery, and lip augmentation with soft tissue fillers. Confident in nature, she reinvented herself and became a pop icon afterwards. Not only did Adrienne Curry (America’s Next Top Model) share details of her right-left-breast-asymmetry and subsequent breast reconstruction, but she has also published online pictures in which she’s happily hugging her plastic surgeon. Nicole Kidman has come a long way from the frizzy-haired girl we met in the ’80s– Botox gives her eyebrows an arch and a wrinkle-free forehead. She may have also had some injectibles to her lips and nasolabial folds (the crease between her nose and corner of mouth), as well as surgical refinement of her nose (rhinoplasty).

What is your philosophy about beauty?

Beauty starts from the inside. If you are not comfortable in your own skin, you will never be comfortable with the image you see in the mirror. For those people who are comfortable with their inner self, certain procedures and surgeries can be performed to address specific anatomical areas of concern in order to enhance the beautiful person that is already there. Plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures should be individualized to a person’s own anatomy and desires. I believe Coco Chanel when she said, ““In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.”

What do you love most about being a plastic surgeon?

Being able to really make people feel better about how they face the world, whether it is a child who has undergone a cleft lip repair, or a young woman who is is in embarrassed and discomforted by her appearance and undergoes a surgical breast procedure.

What other passions do you have besides your work?

Spending time with my family back in Texas, exercising, shopping, reading, and traveling to places I’ve never been.
