Altamaha-ha! or How I Threw a Small Rock At a Passing Plane

Watercolor, Graphite, and Ink were used to create this loving Altamaha-ha and his grimy Georgian home, the Altamaha river. Folks say that the Altamaha-ha is an enormous, potentially 40 foot long giant eel that spawns in the river but most likely lives in the ocean. I submitted it to be published in Beasts! Vol. 2 this morning and am going to try to focus on the positive thing for (the fact that I put the time and effort to make the piece as best I could) instead of the negative thing (the fact that I am in the running against about a million people who are better than me.) Oh, and while I am here-- check out this sweet bear head I made too.

Submission for Illustration Friday. This is a game my fiance and I play with our dog Tobias. We ask him over and over "You wanna bone? Or a stick?" in this particular tone of voice... and the poor guy just cocks his head back and forth everytime we pose the question. : )

Still working on refining the look of this new approach I'm taking. I got rid of the offset outlines and let the lines interact with the color a little bit more. It feels good to be working on things again. : )

Just trying to get some more work up to a more finished level of completion so I can create a portfolio that I dont have to make excuses for! I am starting with some portraits of musicians I really love- the first was David Byrne but he will be getting redone. And this is Jens Lekman, though the likeness is awful. I am really enjoying this new kind of process of working I have been using the last week or so. Suggestions, as always, are welcome!

To anyone who actually checks this blog, I apologize that I have not been keeping up my end of the deal by posting daily. I do solemnly swear that once school is out I will blaze a trail of drawings and paintings so fresh that you will yield control of your bladder to God Almighty in the terrifying knowledge that only He can keep you from peeing all up in your pants and what not.
Also, I have a puppy now bringing the total count of beautiful things I come into contact with regularly to 7,323,239,972,209,001. Awesome.
