Niche Beauty has two different beauty calendars for 2026, with the Niche Beauty The Luxury Advent Calendar and the Classic Advent Calendar.

Both of these advent calendars feature a selection of amazing brands and their products such as Byredo, Lolavie, Westman Atelier and Chantecaille.

The Classic Advent Calendar which has 26 products, of which 13 are full-sizes, 5 are travel sizes and 8 are deluxe samples. This advent calendar will be priced at £330 and is said to be worth £1,150 and it is packaged inside a festive burgundy keepsake box, complete with satin pouches, a mirror and decorative lip shaped clasp.

What Is the BRAT Diet and Does It Help on Wegovy?

If you've started Wegovy and found yourself running to the bathroom more than expected, you're not alone. GI side effects are among the most common reasons people struggle with semaglutide in the early weeks, and the BRAT diet is one of the first things that comes up when someone's stomach turns against them. So, what actually is it, what does the evidence say, and does it make sense to use while you're on a GLP-1 medication?

What Is the BRAT Diet

The BRAT diet has been part of digestive recovery conversations for decades, and it keeps resurfacing partly because GI distress is so predictable with medications like Wegovy. The same discomfort that shows up as diarrhea on Wegovy is what steers people toward the BRAT approach, a stripped-down, low-fiber eating pattern meant to give your gut a break when things go sideways. No prescription required, no specialist visit needed. The approach centers on four specific foods chosen for a single reason: they're gentle on an irritated digestive tract and easy to get down when solid meals feel like a bad idea.

The Four Foods That Make Up the BRAT Diet

BRAT is an acronym. Each letter stands for one of the four foods the diet is built around:

B - Bananas: Soft, easy to digest, and high in potassium, which you lose quickly through diarrhea and loose stools.
R - Rice: Plain white rice, not brown. The low fiber content means it moves through your system without adding bulk or stimulating gut motility.
A - Applesauce: Not apple juice, and not a whole raw apple. Applesauce contains pectin, a soluble fiber that may help firm up loose stools.
T - Toast: White bread, lightly toasted. Again, low fiber, mild flavor, and easy on the stomach lining.

These foods share a few traits: they're bland, low in fat, and don't put much demand on your digestive system. That combination is the whole logic behind the diet. None of them are nutritionally complete on their own, and that's a real limitation worth understanding before you lean on this approach for more than a day or two.

Why People Turn to the BRAT Diet for Digestive Issues

The BRAT diet got its start in pediatric medicine as a short-term strategy for managing diarrhea in children. Physicians and parents used it widely through much of the late twentieth century, and it transferred naturally into adult self-care because the reasoning is intuitive. You feel sick, you can't face a normal meal, and the four BRAT foods feel manageable when almost nothing else does. Honestly, there's a logic to it that doesn't require any medical background to follow. The American Academy of Pediatrics has since stepped back from recommending it for children, noting it's too restrictive to support recovery well. But adults still reach for it regularly - especially in the early stages of a medication-related GI episode - because it offers a concrete action when the alternative is waiting out the discomfort with nothing in your stomach.

How the BRAT Diet Relates to Wegovy Side Effects

Wegovy (semaglutide) slows gastric emptying and changes how your gut processes food, which is part of how it supports weight loss. But that same mechanism is responsible for a fairly predictable cluster of GI side effects that hit a large portion of users, particularly in the first several weeks of treatment or after a dose increase.

Diarrhea on Wegovy and How Diet Can Help

Diarrhea is one of the more frequently reported side effects of Wegovy, especially during dose escalation. The mechanism ties back to slowed gastric motility; food sits longer in the stomach, and the downstream effects on the small intestine and colon can produce loose, urgent stools in some people. Diet adjustments don't change how semaglutide works in your body; they can, however, reduce the extra burden you're placing on your digestive system during an already turbulent stretch. Eating low-fat, easy-to-digest foods means your gut doesn't have to work as hard. Cutting out high-fiber vegetables, greasy meals, spicy food, and large portions removes common diarrhea triggers from the picture. The BRAT foods fit this profile reasonably well as a short-term measure. They won't stop the underlying pharmacological effect, but they may help you get through a rough patch without your food choices making things worse.

Other GI Issues Wegovy Users Experience

Diarrhea isn't the only GI headache Wegovy users deal with. Nausea is actually the most commonly reported issue, and it often hits hardest in the first few weeks at each new dose level. Vomiting, constipation, bloating, and stomach pain round out the list of what the prescribing information flags as common side effects. Each of these responds somewhat differently to dietary adjustments, and here's the thing: constipation is the opposite problem, and the low-fiber BRAT approach could make it worse. Nausea tends to respond better to small, frequent meals rather than fewer larger ones. So before defaulting to BRAT foods, it's worth identifying which GI symptom you're actually dealing with. Applying a low-fiber, binding diet to constipation or bloating isn't going to help and might genuinely backfire. The BRAT diet's niche is loose stools and diarrhea, not GI discomfort across the board.

Does the BRAT Diet Actually Work With Wegovy

The honest answer is: somewhat, in a limited way, for a limited time. It isn't a treatment for the underlying cause of Wegovy-related GI symptoms, but it's not without merit as a short-term coping strategy either. What it does and doesn't do depends heavily on your specific situation.

What the Evidence Shows About the BRAT Diet's Effectiveness

The clinical evidence behind the BRAT diet is thin. There aren't any large randomized controlled trials testing it against a comparison diet for medication-induced diarrhea. Most of what exists is older observational work and expert opinion from the era when it was standard pediatric advice. The American Academy of Pediatrics formally moved away from recommending it in 2004, and most gastroenterology guidelines now suggest that early reintroduction of a normal, balanced diet serves recovery better than prolonged restriction. That said, the underlying principle - cutting dietary fat, fiber, and irritants during an acute bout of diarrhea - isn't unreasonable. Many gastroenterologists still suggest bland, low-fat eating during GI flares even if they wouldn't call it the BRAT diet. For Wegovy users specifically, there's no dedicated research on the diet's effectiveness; any benefit is inferred from general GI principles rather than direct evidence.

Limitations of the BRAT Diet While Taking Wegovy

The biggest limitation is nutritional inadequacy. Bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast don't deliver enough protein, healthy fat, or micronutrients to sustain you beyond a day or two. And Wegovy already tends to suppress appetite and reduce overall food intake - so stacking a very restrictive eating pattern on top of that creates a real risk of under-eating in ways that affect energy, muscle mass, and medication tolerability. Protein intake matters especially when you're trying to preserve lean mass during weight loss. A second limitation is that the BRAT diet does nothing for hydration. Diarrhea strips fluids and electrolytes faster than most people replace them, so staying ahead of dehydration - with water, electrolyte drinks, or broths, matters more than which specific foods you eat. But if your GI symptoms are severe, persistent, or accompanied by fever or blood in your stool, the BRAT diet isn't a substitute for calling your prescribing physician.

Conclusion

The BRAT diet is a short-term eating strategy built around bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast, designed to ease diarrhea by lightening the digestive load of your meals. On Wegovy, where GI side effects are common during dose escalation, it may offer some relief for a day or two. It isn't well-supported by modern clinical evidence; it won't fix the pharmacological cause of your symptoms, and it's too nutritionally sparse to rely on for long. Keep portions small, stay hydrated, and talk to your doctor if symptoms don't improve within a few days.
