OK so nude and deep red/crimson are on totally opposite ends of the spectrum and I myself prefer just a sheer gloss, but seeing these images side-by-side I'm still surprised at how much lip color can effect ones overall look. Surprisingly the only star above that I think looks better with a deep red lip is Cameron Diaz -- you'd think that with her laid-back Cali image I'd like her better with nude. For the most part crimson lips look too "done-up" for me and I think that they can even, on certain people and depending on the outfit (ahem Leighton Meester in that harlequin-esque outfit at the CDFA Awards), look clownish. What do you prefer, nude or deep red lips?

Kumaara means "youth" in Sanskrit. Well, who doesn't like that? But it's not the name but the philosophy behind this line that is so appealing. Kumaara harnesses powerful ingredients from nature to get results, that is youth. All organic ingredients like goji, indian, gooseberry, bearberry and acai are known to be potent anti-oxidants that ward off the evil free radicals. The SPF 15 Antioxidant Protection cream is also a lightweight skin firming moisturizer so it is all you need for day. I have bushels of sunscreens, some with SPF 80+ but none of them are going to do a damn thing if I don't actually use it because the thought of slathering thick gunky cream on my face, even to save me from wrinkles is simply unpleasant. This cream is not only lightweight but goes on completely matte, with absolutely no feeling of residue or oiliness. Which means, and this is the most important part of sunscreen, I am happy and actually look forward to reapplying it throughout the day. It goes on under foundation with no build up and can even go over it (sure, it does mess up my contouring and blush but that's a small price to pay). The tube has a pump on it so is perfectly safe to keep in my bag all day long, which I do - I reapply in the car while waiting for a light. I am getting ready to do pixelated carbon dioxide laser resurfacing (will do a full story on that shortly) so it is of utmost importance that I use sunscreen religiously prior to the treatment. It says a lot that this is my sunscreen of choice for such a consequential occasion! Kumaara Antioxidant Protection, $59.95.

I love side-swept hair -- at least the glamorous kind like the styles pictured above. I'm less into the whole Peaches Geldof, l just woke up with gum in my hair lopsided look. Though I have to say that every time I don't do a middle part it takes me a good half-hour to not feel like my hair is off-balance, because I'm so used to having the same amount of hair on each side of my head! Does that happen to anyone else!? Side-swept hair is one of the few looks that work for ladies with and without bangs -- as the women pictured above prove. For tips on this look I spoke with Redken Session Stylist Noah Hatton and he was kind enough to give us a step-by-step guide! Jump for tips!

1. Apply <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=9RQByRmBmGU&offerid=43440.214973&type=2&subid=0"target="_blank">Redken Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam to wet hair from the roots to midshaft for volume, and then spray Redken Fabricate 03 Heat-Active Texturizer from the mid-shaft to ends for texture.
2. Turn head upside down and rough blow dry until hair is almost completely dry.
3. Make a deep side part on either side of the head that you prefer.
4. Using a boar bristle brush, blow dry hair away from part directing around the head to create the base for the side sweep. Make sure when you are blow drying to keep the blow dryer on top/above the sections so that the hair remains flat and smooth at the top.
5. Spray Redken Iron Silk 07 Ultra Straightening Spray on 1 inch sections and wrap each section around a 1 ½ inch curling iron.
6. Using a flat brush, lightly brush and father hair around the base of the head to create the "sweep" around the head, and if you'd like, use a few hair pins right behind the ear to keep the sweep in place.
7. Finish with Redken Workforce 09 Flexible Volumizing Spray for a light, movable hold.

Spray wet hair with Tresemme 24 hour body scupting gel (Tres important cuz this will hold the shape of your curls!)

2. Let hair dry while you do your make up, run errands or whatever you need to! (You can air dry or use the T3 Evolution Blow dryer for a few minutes)

5. Take out the bobby pins and finger comb through and fluff hair (spray on hair spray if necessary.)

Et Voila! A head of gorgeous waves! So easy and so fast! Jump for photo!

Anyone who reads what I write on a somewhat regular basis probably knows that I'm very self conscious about the fact that I'm so ghostly pale! I have constant tan-envy. While I'm surrounded with olive skinned-beauties basking in the sun, I'm hiding under my hat and sunglasses, my body often covered in a towel. I'm not big on the self tanners and I rarely do spray tans because either I end up looking too orange or I just feel icky and like I'm totally covered in makeup (plus when the spray tan starts to fade it can get patchy not to mention if you get it done in the summer and don't have time to let it dry completely, it will start to melt off...). Little surprise that when I heard that <a href="http://www.temptu.com/"target="_blank">Temptu was going to come out with a home airbrushing kit, I inquired immediately! This inquiry was quite a few months ago and it wasn't until two weeks ago that I finally met with a Temptu rep about the at home kit. Temptu literally does airbrushing for ALL the stars -- even guys like Robert Pattinson, Chase Crawford, and a bunch of athletes love it -- it's THAT natural looking. Ironically when I was planning on meeting with the rep, Ava, I suggested going to Nespresso, a cafe which is right by my apartment. Turns out Temptu Air's pod system was inspired by the sleek Nespresso pods! More after the jump.

Temptu has been in the airbrushing business for almost three decades (they've been used behind the scenes for Christian Dior, Trovata, Italian Vogue, W, Harper's Bazaar...), but this kit marks not only the first time we'll be able to airbrush ourselves in the comfort of our own home, but it's the first time Sephora (who is the product's exclusive carrier through the end of the year), will be selling a system like this. Yes, it's that straightforward, small, and sleek. In fact, Sephora is so proud of this product that they will have dedicated staff members for Temptu Air whose sole job is to show shoppers how easy it is to use.

I was so excited to check the machine out that we popped it in at Nespresso and airbrushed my cheeks! Later I progressed to my entire face and seriously, it looks SO NATURAL. This is the future of makeup. No lines, no blending, no excess makeup -- it didn't even look like I was wearing makeup. That said it takes a try or two to master because you need to get a feel for how long and how much pressure should be applied. It's easier if you try it out on a friend first.

The system works with pods (foundation, blush, or highlighters), which you can swap out (each last 1 to 2 months and they're self-sealing). They've also got Retouch which is a complimentary product line that has an on-the-go conventional brush with makeup (foundation, bush, or highlighter) so you can touch up the airbrush throughout the day (though from my experience the makeup lasts all day).

The line is 100% safe, the makeup is silicone-based, there are a number of shades to choose from, and the kit which retail for $225 comes with an instructional DVD. I can just see it now, come next year our compact foundation will be as antiquated as a video cassette!

Temptu is launching online at Sephora on August 1st and in Sephora stores nationwide on September 15th.

I'd wanted to try the masks, too but the iS Clinical rep told me I'd hurt myself if I used the masks at home as they are medical grade products and required the skills of a trained medical aesthetician. I was referred to EpiCentre Legacy, a medi-spa directed by national and world-renowned local plastic surgeons, to receive the "Fire and Ice" facial.

Upon arrival I was given a complimentary skin care analysis using a Profect US camera (oh my god, so scary-- here I thought my skin was flawless but the camera caught sun damage dating back to my teenage years!). The very knowledgeable Medical Aesthetician, Mickie Shelton, also spent 30 minutes educating me on the difference between IPL, Fraxel and Ablative laser treatments (I don't know if I'll ever have the guts to do any of these but will let you know if I do!) before getting me on the table for my facial.

Let me just start by saying that this is not your average frou frou facial with music, dark lighting and candles. It's more like a medical treatment; the lights stay on and it's all very clinical. After cleaning my face, Mickie applied the first part of the Fire and Ice Facial. The "Fire" is a Intensive Resurfacing Masque clinically formulated with 18% unbuffered glycolic acid (no fillers means less irritants), lactic acid, citric acid, malic acid, retinol, vitamin B3 and potent antioxidants, including green tea extracts. I won't lie, it stung and tingled but was bearable-- no screaming or hair pulling on my part. I also got it on my neck and chest (so important!)-- a total of 3-5 minutes is all that is necessary for this peel to work its magic. Next came the "Ice"-- the Rejuvenating Masque is a cool, soothing and intensively hydrating masque containing hyaluronic acid, aloe vera gel, Japanese green tea extracts, licorice extracts, grape seed extracts and rosemary extracts. This part felt really good, especially since it was 106 degrees outside! It also tingled but did not hurt, it just felt really really cold on my face.

The entire treatment took about 20 minutes and my skin was amazingly tight and firm afterwords-- I felt like I had just gotten a face lift. Three of my friends commented on my skin this week and they're all planning to try this facial, too. I have never had a chemical peel before and I'm so glad I waited until I found the iS Clinical facial. You must try this! It's only $100 for the face and $150 for full face, neck and chest (recommended) at Epi Centre. Go to the iS Clinical site and find a location near you! (Jump to watch the treatment on video!)
What you eat can possibly save your life, or can it? There is a new study that claims eating a single mushroom a day may keep breast cancer at bay (any variety, including dried mushrooms). The International Journal of Cancer found that women who consumed the fungi were 64% less likely to develop cancer than those who didn't. Dr. Min Zhang, a research associate professor of epidermology at the University of Western Australia claims "Mushrooms contain compounds that may suppress the production of estrogen, a hormone that promotes breast tumor growth". Next time you cook, considering a mushroom or two into your stir fry, soup or casserole. It can't hurt!

Thankfully I'm not in a position where I have to shed pounds because maintaining the weight I want is difficult enough -- even gaining two or three pounds is enough to make me feel self-conscious especially around all the tanned bikini-clad bodies I see around me in the Hamptons. I'm always open to tips (just re-watched Oprah's Best Life Week: Falling off the Wagon). We all know it comes down to balanced eating and exercise, but what I liked about the suggestions given by Brett Hoebel, celebrity trainer and REV ABS DVD creator (he is best known for working with Victoria's Secret models Doutzen Kroes and Karolina Kurkova, along with celebs like America Ferrara, Emmy Rossum, Veronica Webb), is that he takes into consideration lifestyle (we all have things we can and can't easily give-up. For me it's alcohol that I can and sugar that I can't). See some of his tips below!

Diet

If you don't want to cut out the alcohol completely, try switching to less caloric drink options: light beer, drinks on the rocks, and club soda instead of tonic or sugary mixers

Try to stay away from, what Brett calls the "White Devils" during your summer parties: sugar, flour, rice, milk, and salt. Instead use agave, a natural sweetner, whole grain rolls, brown rice salads, and Celtic sea salt as a seasoning.

For long, hot days eat fresh whole fruit for energy instead of drinking fruit juice. Even make smoothies using Almond Milk and fresh fruit!

Exercise

When all you want to do is hit the beach, it's still important to get your workouts in. Brett has developed shorter workouts that combine strength training with anaerobic-interval training. Check-out his suggested Tri-Set after the jump!

1. Compound Lower Body
§ Start holding a dumbbell or just hands placed together (like a clap) up near right shoulder
§ Lunge with left foot forward while "chopping" dumbbell (or hands) down and across body to outside of left hip
§ Arms should remain straight during downward chop and upward return of arms to starting position
§ Without any rest period, move on to next exercise

2. Compound Upper Body
§ Single Leg Push Ups, 10-12 reps per side with moderate to challenging weight
§ Without any rest period, move on to next exercise

3. Anaerobic Interval Cardio
§ Run in place with high knees, 30-60 seconds
§ Say the alphabet: if you don't have to pause for a breath every five letters, you didn't work hard enough
§ REST for 60-120 second

4. There are so many wonderful new loose mineral eye shadows in shimmery tones available it's little surprise that they have become popular on the red carpet. From Megan Fox to Taylor Swift, stars are livening-up their natural looks with a touch of eye shimmer (love how both Taylor and Megan combine the shimmer with cay eyes!). I was able to get the scoop on this trend from lifestyle stylist and founder of DEX New York, Dex -- see what he had to say below!

Why do you like shimmery eye shadows/makeup?

Shimmery eye shadows and makeup with a hint of glow in general, captures the youth and sparkle of beautiful supple skin. It also reflects light, hiding dark circles and uneven skin tone.

When is shimmery eye makeup good/bad?
Shimmery eye makeup is best suited for younger skin. If applied to more mature skin, one should be very careful to use the shimmer stuff more sparingly. Keep it away from fine lines and wrinkles. Use on the eye lids as to pop the matte base color on lower lids, as well as line lower lash line to open the eye, then followed with a black matte liner.

How do you apply shimmer around the eyes?
Use shimmery eye shadows on the brow bone to accentuate light contrasting from a dark matte shadow on the lid; which gives depth and shape to the eye.
Can be used for both dramatic and soft looks.
More after the jump!

Does one have to stick with neutrals like white, cream, gold or silver?
No! But, preferably one should use those hues of color for the brow bone. If you choose to go for hues other than neutrals, I suggest you blend with like colors on the lower lid.

What colors flatter which eye shades/hair colors?
When it comes to choosing which shades of eye shadow colors, I prefer to use the skin tone as a jumping off point. Fair Skin tones - Pinks, Peaches, Pastel like colors. Medium Skin Tones - Golds, Browns, Yellows. Dark Skin Tones - Reds, Coppers, Metallics. In general it all
depends on the occasion, wardrobe, and the mood you are in. Most importantly use the skin tone as a guide line.

Any other tips on wearing shimmer around the eyes?
When you want to open the entire face, use a shade of shimmer that is a deeper than you skin tone above brow to temples. To contour your nose line, use a shade of shimmer that is lighter than your skin tone on the bridge of your nose. To add more pout to your lips, add a shade of shimmer that is light in color to the center of your pursed lips. To make your cheeks more pronounced, add a shade of shimmer lighter than your skin tone on your cheek bone, then add a dark matte bronzer below the cheek bone for contour. All the while blend both applications together.

Okay, so my creams and serums have a lot to do with it, too, but I swear this oil makes a huge difference! I went 6 months without taking it as an experiment and my skin was noticeably less supple (at least to me) and my 'monthly' cramps were unbearable! You'd have to talk to my hubby about my mood swings but when I told him about stopping the oil as an experiment he offered to buy me a case of it. I started taking the oil again 4 months ago and am happy to report all is well in my body again (I still have raggy moods, hello it's not a miracle oil.)

"Essential Women" is derived from seeds of botanical flowers such as evening primrose and flax, as well as special plant phytonutirents that not only make women beautiful, but help balance our hormones and make us sane (or I should say less insane) during PMS, menopause and other female issues.

I'm telling you, got get yourself a bottle immediately-- or the soft gel if you are traveling. I prefer the oil cuz I hate swallowing pills and only take it on trips. I mix a spoonful of the oil each morning into my yogurt or soy milk and don't even taste it! Don't worry, there is no fishy taste that so many other omega oils have.

The Essential Woman is the first product of it's kind to combine a full compliment of therapeutically beneficial nutrients targeted for the special and changing needs of a woman. 8 oz bottle is $18.95 and lasts about a month if taken daily. 12 oz bottle is $27.37. 60ct bottle of gel caps is $14.95 and 120 count bottle is $28.47. Buy "Essential Women" oil here.

Special tip: during that time of the month, double the dosage to two spoonfuls a day, I rarely get cramps or any kind of bloating!

Suggested Use: One tablespoon daily. May be taken straight, mixed with yogurt or cottage cheese, in oatmeal or as an ingredient in salad dressings, protein drinks or blended beverages.

The Essential Woman formula is a proprietary blend of:

    * Organic Unrefined Flaxseed Oil: The world's richest source of essential fatty acids, including alpha linoleic acid (Omega-3) and linolenic acid (Omega-6)
    * Organic Evening Primrose Oil: Contains a specialized nutrient, gamma linolenic acid (GLA) which has been shown in scientific studies to support hormonal health and address the symptoms of PMS and menopause*
    * Lignans: A highly studied and researched class of phytonutrient found in flaxseed studied by the National Cancer Institute and shown to possess impressive preventative properties - in addition to supporting hormone and breast health*
    * Soy isoflavones: Plant phytoestrogens which studies reveal can help address the annoying symptoms of menopause and PMS as well as support bone, heart and breast health*

Note that I'm fairly lazy when it comes to self-made remedies and usually the only thing you'll find in my kitchen is some cereal, milk, water, and lots of take-out menus (o the joys of living in NYC! Luckily my bf loves to cook so my kitchen is not a complete waste of space). I was very intrigued however when Kattia Solano, the owner of Butterfly Studio Salon who stocks only Kerastase and Shu Uemura at her hair salon, revealed that she had two fab recipes for homemade hair masks -- one for a dry scalp and one for an oily scalp. If a woman who has so many wonderful face masks at her fingertips sometimes opts for her own homemade concoctions, I say that's a frugal snob find at its best! See Solano's recipes below!

Dry Scalp Recipe

¼ cup Avocado Oil infused with fresh Rosemary

1 tablespoon of Rosemary Essential Oil

1 tablespoon of Tea tree oil

Mix avocado oil, rosemary and tea tree oil in a spray bottle. Warm up a cup of water, place bottle in cup of water for 5 min to warm the oil. Add a few sprays of mixture in small sections on the scalp. Continue to rub through entire scalp, massage for about 5 minutes. Leave on for 30 minutes or overnight. Follow with a good shampoo and conditioner; recommended twice a week.

Oily Scalp Recipe

¼ of White or Apple Cider Vinegar

1 whole lemon

Lemon peel

Essential lavender oil

Sweet orange oil

Mix vinegar, with juice of the lemon. Scrape lemon zest in mixture and let soak for 5-10minutes. Remove the zest and add ½ teaspoon of lavender oil and ½ teaspoon of sweet orange oil. Mix well in a spray bottle. Take sections of hair and apply mixture throughout the scalp. Massage mixture on scalp for 5 minutes. Leave in for 15-20 minutes. Rinse out and follow with a nice shampoo and conditioner on ends only; recommended twice a week.

This is the most disturbing and grotesque fad I have EVER seen. The Japanese have outdone themselves by coming up with a way to look like you have bagels in your head. Why would you want that, you ask? Yeah, good question. I guess to be weird because it most certainly is not cool in any way. Or maybe they want sympathy. I mean, if I saw someone looking like this, I would think they have an untreatable condition. To achieve this, saline is injected into the skin, which causes swelling and then a shape can be molded. There is no comfort in the fact that you can pick a shape other than bagel. It is done at piercing and tattoo shops. (Via Manolith).

Prevention is at least 100 times more important than reversal. Especially when it comes to wrinkles! I have always loved Caudalie but their new 1st Wrinkle line of moisturizing creams and serums is really making me a happy girl! Girl being the operative word. I am terrified of turning into "mam", I cringe every time someone calls me "mam". Caudalie uses the antioxidant benefits of grape seeds, it is the basis of their entire line, which fits right in with my daily antioxidant regimen of wine and chocolate =) I have been using Darphin to prevent aging but I think I am still a few year away from such heavy creams. Caudalie is perfect for my combination skin while still leaving it manageably matte. The 1st Wrinkle Cream is actually a bit too much for the summer, I tend to get really oily so the Pulpe Vitaminee 1st Wrinkle Fluid is really light and more appropriate for hot days. I go back and forth between the two, depending on how my skin feel but only the cream at night. The best part though has to be the smell, it reminds me of Japanese melon gum. Yum! Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminee 1st Wrinkle Cream at Sephora for $55.

Not only do you need to have the time to deal with the constant upkeep that this style requires, but you need a great facial bone structure and poise. I don't think that the traditional bob cut is particularly flattering on young women (it ages 28 year old Christina Ricci by at least 5 years for example). It's a stern cut which is why I think Posh pulls it off so well and probably why Katie Holmes opted for it when she was trying to get away from her young, good girl image. LC looks like she's wearing a bad wig (which she probably is). I also don't like the length of LC's bob -- I'm all about long hair, chin-length hair or slightly below the shoulder hair, otherwise, for the most part, people end-up looking like they're in between haircuts waiting to grow out their hair. As for Rihanna, I actually like her best when she has shorter hair. Katie Holmes looks the most snob in my opinion. What do you think? Vote in our poll!

SMOOTH SKIN SECRET - LOOFAH + EGG WHITES

Some celebs have been known to drop big bucks for facials and chemical peels. But that isn't the only path to a perfectly glowing face. Instead, use an ecoTOOLS™ Bamboo and Loofah Facial Buff to gently exfoliate the face. To keep fresh skin supple, create an egg white mask from one egg and a few drops of fresh lemon juice. Not only do the proteins in the egg white heal and restore moisture, but they also tighten pores. After just ten minutes, you will fell like you have a brand new face.

BONUS: Use the loofah and egg combo on extra dry spots like elbows and knees to ensure streak free sunless tans.

As a city built on water, Venice was a source of great intrigue for Gabrielle Chanel. She saw it as simultaneously dramatic and fragile - qualities she herself possessed. With the imagination of the CHANEL Makeup Studio, Venice comes to life in a palette reflective of the city's shimmering facades and mosaics, and the sparkling aquatic colors of its lagoons. I love the new Gondola nail polish above right in a rich shade of red, very vampy and sexy!

The Gel Cream eye shadow quad is CHANEL's latest makeup innovation. It puts glowing new emphasis on the eyes with a gel-cream texture that blends from sheer to intense. The subtle luminous sheen has a surprisingly and decidedly sophisticated effect. $65 at Chanel.com (Jump for complete details)

LIPS: The CHANEL lip collection expands with a selection of rich, luxurious shades.

ROUGE ALLURE Luminous Satin Lip Colour arrives in Intuitive, a pinkish brown; Clandestine, a rich brick shade; Captive, a classic brown; Amusing, a rosewood tone; Comedia, a true rose; and Instinctive, a perfect pink nude. Lips glimmer with LÈVRES SCINTILLANTES Glossimer in Courtisane, a natural pink, and Arelequin, a glossy gold. Finally, define the mouth with LE CRAYON LÈVRES Precision Lip Definer in Praline d'Or, a golden-hued nude.

EYES: Create a subtle or more dramatic look with LES 4 OMBRES Quadra Eye Shadow in Murano, a palette with shades of moss, pink and seafoam, and green shimmer. The latest IRRÈELLE DUO Silky Eyeshadow Duo arrives in Acqua Alta, a pairing of white and grey shadows. Brows look perfectly defined with two new shades of LE CRAYON SOURCILS Precision Brow Definer, Blond Clair and Cendre Noir.

FACE: For the perfect finish, apply JOUES CONTRASTE Powder Blush in Fresque, a subtle peach shade, or LES TISSAGES DE CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Sienna, a gorgeous earthy bronze. Skin is luminous with POUDRE DOUCE Soft Pressed Powder in Pêche Caresse, a soft peach.

NAILS: CHANEL, the leader in nail colour trends, introduces two new shades of LE VERNIS Nail Colour: Intermezzo, a white pearl, and Gondola, a stunning maroon shimmer.

This is essential because even stores like Sephora sometimes carry out-of-date products. Just yesterday I was in the Sephora in the Flatiron-area in NYC buying some travel essentials for my 4th of July trip to Chicago when I noticed that the GO Smile set I picked-up expired last October! Eww! At least it clearly displayed the date. Why isn't there a law that requires all products to list an expiration date!? Luckily La Roche-Posay is always coming-out with new products to target various skin issues. Timed to summer when heat and sweat make many us break-out prone, they have a new line of products called Effaclar. First to cleanse they've got <a href="http://www.laroche-posay.us/_us/_en/consumer/catalog/ByType/Oily/effaclar-purifying-foaming-gel.htm"target="_blank">Effaclar Gel ($19.50) which is a foaming cleansing gel for acne-prone, oily/combination, and skin that is irritated by acne treatments (wish this was out when I was going through the trauma that was applying to college!). The cleanser effectively cleanses though it did leave my skin dry (it's also oil-free), so moisturizing after application will likely be necessary. Jump for more!

Cleansing can be followed by <a href="http://www.dermstore.com/product_Effaclar+Toner+Astringent+Lotion_7957.htm"target="_blank">La Roche-Posay Effaclar Toner ($19.50). I don't use toners on a regular basis, but this one is supposed to work well to unclog pores. As for moisturizers they've got <a href="http://www.laroche-posay.us/_us/_en/consumer/catalog/ByType/Oily/effaclar-active-matte-moisturizer.htm"target="_blank">Effaclar Matte ($25) which is meant to moisturize without adding shine (it's formulated with silica to mattify) and unlike most matte moisturizers that only offer short term results, this moisturizer utilizes pore targeting technology to deliver LHA and Vitamin E to pores to protect skin from external aggressors that can stimulate excess oil production. Lastly they've got an acne treatment fluid, <a href="http://www.laroche-posay.us/_us/_en/consumer/catalog/ByType/Oily/effaclar-k-acne-treatment-fluid.htm"target="_blank">Effaclar K ($19.90) formulated specifically for adults to reduce blackheads, control breakout and improve skin texture (it combines LHA with salicylic acid).

She has the world's most beautiful and velvety skin and she told me her secret was a line called Motives cosmetics. I asked to be put in touch with the Creative Director, Loren Ridinger, and have hounded her ever since. Seriously, this line is really outstanding. From the Liquid to Powder mineral foundation to the award winning Pressed eye shadow palettes, I am really addicted! But the most exciting discovery is its Angled Eyeliner brush (for cat eye fanatics like myself). I have tried every eye liner brush out there, and always end up using angled brow brushes because not many companies make an angled eyeliner brush let alone a good one. You must try this, the best part is-- it's only $8.50! Less than a martini these days and how many things can you say that about!?!? At Motives Cosmetics.com Get one of the gel liners ($15.95) while you're at it, you just dip the brush in the pot and apply-- easy and mess free!
The Pressed Eye shadows are spectacular, you don't need much as the minerals are heavily pigmented. Here is what I used:

I have to preface this post by saying that there are incredible markdowns going on right now on Space NK products. Candles are on sale for less than $10 at their namesake locations, at Bloomingdale's, and online (they're not in a special sale section so just got to Space NK-branded product section and browse!). Space NK is discontinuing some items and re-packaging others hence these amazing markdowns (I just picked-up a few more new things at Bloomies -- they slashed prices by 75% and then a few days ago took an extra 50% off that price! I got bath soaps for $2, candles for $7.50 and body lotion for $5 -- all in original packaging!). Now from the old to the new. Space NK, started by beauty guru Nicky Kinnaird, has just launched a new range of everyday essentials all of which are free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, and silicone. The products come in a range of scents (Tomato Rhubarb, Mandarin Grapefruit, Gingered Woods, Patchouli Suede, Midnight Jasmine), as well as unfragranced ones. Each fragrance is target towards a specific part of the day and the price points are slightly more mild than Space NK-branded items. Note the candles, which are the highlight of the collection, are available at Space NK boutiques now and I've also seen them at the Space NK section at Bloomingdale's (though the official launch isn't till July 8 which is when they'll be available online). The rest of the collection is hitting this fall, but I thought I would highlight it now so you can plan your Space NK shopping accordingly -- it's definitely worth leaving some room in your budget for this line! Learn more after the jump!

Tomato Rhubarb -- Candle ($30) and Muscle Relief Bath Soak ($30)
A eucalyptus, rosemary, and juniper infused blend to help ease overly worked muscles. This is recommended for the start of the day.

Mandarin Grapefruit -- Candle ($30), Uplifting Body Lotion ($25), and Jump Start Bath & Shower ($22).
Citrus and mint scent, the body lotion and shower gel are meant to give a burst of energy, while the scented candle is supposed to bring upbeat positivity.

Gingered Woods Candle ($30), Patchouli Suede Candle ($30), Ultimate Unwind Bath & Shower Gel ($22), and Soul Soothing Body Lotion ($25)
These are meant to help reflect on the day gone by then to help us focus on "me time." Kinnaird suggests burning the Gingered Woods candle to wind down. I am on a quest to try all the new liquid mineral make up on the market right now. It just feels so much better on my skin and I am less prone to break outs. Prescriptives is expanding its mineral portfolio and launching a liquid mineral makeup, All Skins Mineral Makeup. This will be my next mineral liquid foundation to test out. It's a longwearing liquid mineral makeup that is infused with vitamins, minerals and their exclusive R.E.C. (Radiance Emitting Crystals - a unique complex of Amethyst, Rose Quartz and Calcite to give skin a soft, luminous finish as if it were "glowing from within." ) to give skin extra luminosity. I'll report back to you once I've gotten my sample. I am impressed with the extensive choice in shades-- you're sure to find your exact match of this new longwearing liquid mineral makeup from Prescriptives with 18 shades! From the lightest to the darkest, I think they've got us covered! Check the shades out here, $32.50

This summer, splash into the latest trend: mermaid-like waves. This glamorous yet laid-back style is perfect for all summer occasions, whether you're lounging on the beach in the Hamptons or hitting the town in Manhattan. I love nothing more than Rapunzel like waves cascading down one side of the face-- it's the ultimate sex siren 'do! Milla Jovovich and Angelina Jolie look super hot with the side swept finger waves. I'm going to test this out myself and got some tips from Suki Duggan, owner of the Donsuki Townhouse Salon on the Upper East Side to DIY--

Suki suggests:
- Section hair into 1-2 inch pieces
- Rolling each section and pinning as you go. After the rollers have cooled, run a comb through your hair to get large, soft waves. A spritz of hairspray should hold the style for the day.
