Million Blog List & Blog Review

Hi Everyone! I discovered an interesting little project! Apparently there are said to be around 70 million blogs published on the internet today. This is a project to list them all and see how long it takes to get to 1 Million! It's easy to add your site. If you've got a blog I recommend you get on the list (http://millionbloglist.com/), the worst that can happen is you get some traffic! The Million Blog List (http://millionbloglist.com/) is a cool experiment to see how fast word of mouth travels on the internet. They are up to about 1400 blogs at the moment. On another note, my site has recently been reviewed. You can see the review here (http://todaysblogreview.blogspot.com/2008/04/becs-quest-to-work-at-home-full-time.html). Unfortunately it was done before I changed my theme. I did take into consideration some of his advice though. If you want your blog reviewed and featured on Today's Blog Review (http://todaysblogreview.blogspot.com) it costs about 300 Entrecard credits so it's a good deal! Another Entrecard Blog that I enjoy reading is a friend of mine from back in Canada. She decided on January 1st this year to try something new each day! So everyday so far this year she has been blogging about doing something new. It includes pictures and some crazy things. She's left a disposable camera in a park with a note for people to take pictures and leave the camera. She went back and found the camera developed it and posted the pictures up! Last but not least, I read an interesting post on Hochstadt (http://www.hochstadt.com/why-i-do-not-use-feedburner) about him not using Feedburner. I have been debating in my head the same thing about whether to stick with Feedburner (which I have combined with Aweber) or to just stick with Aweber (http://becslife.biz/goto.php?link=aweber). I'm going to research it a bit more and make a decision but I'm curious about what you think. Any strong feelings either way? -Bec

Twitter and MyBlogLog Statistics

Hi All, Well, as promised I have signed up for Twitter! I've added 'My Twitter Updates' to the sidebar. It's a quick way of writing an entry and letting people know you are still alive without writing a whole article! I haven't set it up to text me when friends update theirs (even though that's an option). I don't want my phone to be constantly beeping! Let me know if you have a twitter account as well because so far I am not following anyone and nobody is following me! You can find me at http://twitter.com/becslife (http://twitter.com/becslife) although I think it is pretty neat in the sidebar. There are a few different widget layouts you can choose. I just chose a simple one as you can see on the right sidebar. On another note....I've come in 2nd in the Entrecard Beauty contest! Thanks to everyone who voted for me! I had 1000 credits sent my way earlier today! Where should I spend them? Anyone want me to advertise on their blog? Also, today I passed the 200 RSS subscribers mark! Yay! Thanks to everyone who has signed up to receive my feed. It's integrated with my Aweber newsletter account (http://becslife.biz/goto.php?link=aweber) as a feedburner feed (http://www.feedburner.com) so it counts subscribers from my newsletters, email updates and RSS readers. If you want a really good way to manage your readers, I suggest you check Aweber (http://becslife.biz/goto.php?link=aweber) because it works well for me and you can create multiple lists. Yesterday I decided to subscribe to the MyBlogLog Pro version. It costs either $3/month deducted from Paypal or $25/year. I decided to get the $25 out of the way upfront. So far I am really enjoying seeing the statistics it provides. For example, not only does it show you where people visit from, it also shows you what they clicked on! See for yourself! Entrecard Beauty Contest Fun & Linkreferral

Hi Everyone, I just have a small favour to ask! I was informed yesterday that I have been nominated for an Entrecard 'Beauty Contest'. Now I'm not taking this very seriously, more it's a bit of a laugh! But it would still be cool to win the 5000 credit prize! On another note, I have decided (thanks to the nice comments left about my last post), that I will start promoting this blog as becslife.com rather than becslife.biz! Also, today is the day I'm finally signing up for Twitter. If you have gone there yet, you need to. If you use Entrecard (http://www.entrecard.com) like I do, you really should check out powerdropping.com (http://www.powerdropping.com). It's not updated as much as it used to be, but it's for sale actually! Quite a good investment if you are looking for a popular site to buy with daily repeat visitors! Yesterday I got back into linkreferral.com (http://becslife.biz/goto.php?link=linkreferral) another good traffic generation program and I woke up this morning to 4 site reviews and 1 favourite (where someone picks your site as their favourite) in 12 hours. It only takes less than an hour to fulfill the daily requirements to get your site to the top. A lot of people there now use Entrecard as well, so while you are checking out the site you can drop your card. Good bonus! Anyways, that's all for today but I've got a surprise coming in the next week or so which I think you'll really like. I won't tell you until I launch it though, so check back and see what's up! Random bits and pieces about the week!

Hi Everyone! Wow, it's been a busy week this week. I did manage however to update a few things on the site. Since I don't use Wordpress (I use Joomla) there are a few widgets that come with Wordpress that I really like. I have been wanting to get a Categories section for a while now. I finally did it this week! Joomla has 1000's of extensions to build any kind of site. I often visit the Extensions Directory and look for new and cool things to add to my site. I finally found an extension that allows me to make the categories section. You can see it at the bottom of my page. I called it 'Topics I like to Write About'. I don't know if I should move it to the sidebar though? I'll have to consider that! It took me a little while to set up because all of my entries were only in one category. So I had to go through and categorize them all, but now it is working fine and I love it! I want to bring the Work @ Home Club back, but I'm probably going to rename it to something that fits a broader audience. I'll get that up in the next couple of days. As some of you may know if you have been reading other people's blogs is that Alexa (http://www.alexa.com/site/company/announcement) recently changed their ranking system. It didn't really affect me at all, if anything it brought me down lower. Becslife.Biz is currently standing at 166,753 which is excellent. However since I run two versions of this site, both becslife.biz and becslife.com, the latter is only at 975,488. I have been struggling with which domain to promote! When I started I only promoted becslife.biz because I thought it sounded unique. Now I'm not so sure, the .com is very well known. Which do you think I should stick with? I have to choose one really because otherwise it gets too confusing. I use dnscoop.com (http://www.dnscoop.com) to check my pagerank and becslife.biz is a PR3 while becslife.com is a PR4. On another note, I'm about to break the 150 subscribers mark for my RSS feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/becslife/lTJe) which will be nice! I've been sitting on 148 for a few days now. For some reason my feed doesn't have the images I post in it and I'm wondering why. Another thing I will have to investigate. Also, nobody has bought my money magnet (http://www.getmoneymagnet.com/?r=60b53c222dd1c65041b1b2130e70458c&p=http%3A%2F%2Fbecslife.biz%2F), I guess it's just too much of a pyramid scheme for most people. I still think it's pretty cool though. I'm just glad I didn't by the $100 one! I'm still hoping I'll sell some! According to the widget, heaps of people are selling them! It works with AlertPay ( http://www.alertpay.com/?kY9LMr%2f2ftaI8qNpFGGXjw%3d%3d) which is similar to paypal but has a referral program where you can earn some extra cash. It's a program where you can send or receive money from anyone with an email address. This week I also changed my commenting system, I think it looks better and is a bit more flexible than my old one. I like that fact that it shows hits and also leaves a commenter's URL. It also has Trackback so I'll be watching to see if that takes off. Also, why not get in my 'Top Spots'? I've moved it to a prominent place on the site that everyone sees! It's a very good deal, cheap advertising. I've bought a few on other sites that I enjoy. If the site looks good, then I'll usually by a topspot. My stats show that I get quite a few hits from them. Even if someone doesn't visit, they see my name and may click next time! So go ahead, show me some love and buy one! :) Well that's it for now. I'm feeling a bit slow today, I went to a wedding reception last night and I still have a headache! Oh well, it was a good night! Speak soon. -Bec
