Hittin' the Books

Hitting our doorstep on nearly the same day, we were overjoyed to receive the finished editions of two new publications. In the first book, Works of Heart, the Beehive Collective is featured in an entire chapter detailing both our local and international work.

"This full-color celebration of citizen artists revitalizing their communities profiles ten exemplary grassroots arts projects. Stories range from children building a mud facade on their Oregon school to an annual blessing-procession and festival in North Philadelphia that brings to life dozens of the most derelict blocks in urban America."

Read more and get a copy from New Village Press

We are also extremely honored to have our Biotech Puppeteer image featured in entirey and as chapter headings in Sandor Katz's fantastic new work The Revolution Will Not Be Microwaved

"The Revolution Will Not Be Microwaved takes on Big Food by profiling grassroots activists who challenge the way we think about food. From community-supported local farmers to raw milk producers forced to fly under the radar of Big Government, this book shows how ordinary people can find their way out of the corporate food maze and take direct responsibility for their own health and nutrition."

First Annual Blackfly Ball

Endless thanks to all who made the Blackfly Ball such an intense, amazing, and unforgettable experience! On August 19th, over 200 people dressed in chiffon, peacock feathers, wings, and more packed the Grange Hall during the Machias Blueberry Festival. The building was brought to life as the old, the young, locals, people from away, and everyone in-between came together and danced to jazz, bounding ukuleles, and uproariously enchanting klezmer music.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/beehivecollective/~4/_fIn06ohOfw" height="1" width="1"/>
