Expanded Salon Hours

Thanks to every one that responded to the survey.  One of the areas of opportunity that stood out was appointment availability.  So the salon has expanded operating hours to include Tuesday mornings until further notice.

Jill Merriett of MORE catering will be featuring some client favorites at the Holiday Party this year.  She’ll also have some goodies for purchase so RSVP.

We thought we would give you a sneak peak of what’s to come for the Holiday Celebration! Dondrea of Jenkins Rose shows us how she utilizes her 2 ton antique printing press to create her one of a kind paper delicacies.  If you haven’t RSVP’d yet don’t put it off!

So you pass that woman on the street and ask yourself “how is her hair that beautiful?  Did she just get it done?”  We’ve all thought it.   So I ask you, what do you think that a
woman does differently than you?  Now I know what you’re thinking, she must be the exception to the rule.  She can do her own hair and make it look like she just stepped out of a salon.  But I assure you; even she gets her hair trimmed by a professional every 6 to 8 weeks.   So here it is.  The secrets to great hair begin with 3 steps.  It’s time to become that woman you just stopped on the street.

Secrets to great hair, Rule # 1: Finding a hairstylist

Well, first you can stop and ask her about her stylist.  Getting your hair done professionally is always the starting point.  A professional stylist is going to guide you with a strong foundation to work with at home.  A good haircut is essential.  If this is the only service you get done every 6 to 8 weeks, do not compromise.  This will keep the split ends away and the hair shaped desirably.   It’s that simple.

Secrets to great hair, Rule #2: Shampooing and Conditioning

Whether you’re trying to maintain your hair at home, or going to see your stylist every 2 days, your hair must be shampooed and conditioned regularly.  Getting the oil, product buildup, and dry skin off of your scalp and out of your hair is a must to keep it healthy.    Product buildup creates a film and can lead to dry scalp.  So how do you know when it’s time to shampoo?   If you can smell your scalp, hair, or constantly scratching and don’t know why, it’s time for a shampoo.

Conditioning your hair is as simple as pulling conditioner through your hair in the shower and using your fingers as a comb to detangle as you go.  Leave on for at least 2 minutes and rinse out thoroughly.  If you visit your salon every 1 to 2 weeks, sit under the steamer and receive the best conditioning treatment you’ve ever had.

Secrets to great hair, Rule #3: Sleeping Beauty

Now, unless you are going to wake up every morning of your life, shampoo and blow-dry your hair, learning what to do with your hair while you sleep is essential.   Women should know by now there’s always a sacrifice when it comes to beauty.  Wrapping, pin curling or just pulling the hair up in a Sumo ponytail with a few rollers on the ends of the hair are 3 simple ways to manage the hair while you sleep.  We may not look like sleeping beauty when we get in the bed, but in the morning it will all be worth it.  Any of these techniques require minimal time before going to sleep.  If done properly, will always give you minimal time spent in your morning routine.

Her handmade thank you cards were a hit last year, so if you’re looking to stock up on these paper delicacies, be sure to get there early! One thing people don’t know about Jenkins Rose is that they also do custom wedding invites. They are to die for, I should know, mine are in the print press now.

It is not fair for us to accept these new lofty fees just for the banks extending the “privilege” of using credit/debit cards for payment. Furthermore, I should not have to raise prices due to their “mafia” style charges. So because of their predatory merchant fees, as of NOVEMBER 1, 2011 b. Freestyle beauty lounge will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING CREDIT CARDS FOR TRANSACTIONS UNDER $200.
Cash or checks will be accepted for transactions under $200. This will allow me to continue to provide the same quality service without raising prices containing bank subsidies.
