Yes, you may know all about your business… but don’t fool yourself. As great as it is to add video onto your site, they keyword here is QUALITY. This is your brand we’re talking about. A direct reflection of what prospects think they’ll get with you. Depending upon your budget… visit Beholder Productions or Your Video Marketing Pro to help you produce quality video productions. Distributing: Since Google is giving more attention to blended organic results, you CAN jump to the top of the search engines by creating and posting quality video content. Taking advantage of video can help you gain advantage over your competition. Video SEO Process:

Focus on the correct keywords per video

Create a strategy. What are you going to teach, market, share, etc.? Do your research and determine which keywords best describe the subject matter. For example, if you are a law firm and you want to teach about a particular type of law service, like Whistle Blower cases, then do your video only about that. So many try to include a variety of topics in one video… and that just creates confusion. Click here to see a variety of samples.

Once you determine your subject matter and define the keywords… work with professional to produce your videos. They’ll write the script and/or prepare your interview questions so that you can incorporate this research into the actual video. And even better… once you have the script written, you can even use the script as the text on your web page!

Create a YouTube Channel

It’s simple and can help your SEO efforts. For example, “Small Business Marketing Tips” or to further enhance your brand, use your company name with a great title featuring SEO keywords.

Upload the videos to YouTube

Google will index your video if you upload it to YouTube. However, uploading the video will not drive clicks to your site. It is merely a portal to hold your video.

Utilize several “video” formats, for example motion graphics/ animation, a slide show, and a Power Point presentation that’s animated can work.

Embed the video onto your website

Your marketing efforts are built to drive prospects and viewers to your website. So, why send them to YouTube… away from your website… when you want to showcase your videos?!

Utilize the embed code from YouTube and embed the videos onto your website. Use that web link to help build that video’s views.

Add text to the pages about the video.

Remember: Google doesn’t see or read video. So, it’s always trying to figure out what your video is about. This is why video SEO, using focused keywords, is so important.

It’s really as simple as putting copy on the page. But make sure that its copy that’s rich with SEO keywords, as well as relevant to the video featured.

Create an introduction paragraph about the video placed above the video… that’s before the area that’s holding the video.

Use the video’s script or a transcription of the video to add additional copy on the rest of the page.

Also use the transcription for the YouTube page. YouTube offers this service for a reason, use it!

Create a video sitemap

Submit your video to Google using a Video Sitemap… you can find this at Google’s Webmaster Tools site.

CONCLUSION: Adding videos to your website is important to increasing your site’s ranking. So if you haven’t already, start your video SEO plan now. You don’t want to be left behind by your competition!

However, getting your site ranked to the top of the search engines proves difficult, tedious, and almost impossible if you’re not spending thousands! Since March 2012, Google made major changes in their search engine algorithm, impacting websites across the country.

Typically, the more links pointed to your site, the higher your site ranks in Google. While this is still true. However, since March 2012, Google stopped counting various types of links that were relied on by SEO companies. So how can you be sure that your online strategy is not rendered worthless?

We know there are surefire ways to ensure your website is increasing in rank:
1. Ensure your sites are well-built, SEO optimized, with a lot of unique content.
2. Optimize your sites with Google Places – the business listings
3. Generate links from respected directories like Yahoo Directory, etc.
4. Generate links from other respected industry websites and quality blogs.

But with all of the changes to Google’s Algorithm, there are two big TO DOs:
1. Sites must have a robust and active Social Media presence. It must be integrated with the main website and allow for interactivity and viewer engagement. Be sure to think ahead and create a social media engagement plan. For example: What are you posting? How will this help your consumer? Will they be more likely to share your information?
2. Sites with multiple SEO optimized videos on YouTube and various other online video networks will absolutely help increase your site’s rank. The days of one corporate or marketing video per company is gone. You can surf through YouTube and watch at least 10 videos in 20 minutes. But, if none of these videos lead back to your brand, product or service… you are clearly lacking in this necessary search item.

There are billions that are available for watching, but also billions that get overlooked by the vast majority of people. When you upload a video are you worried that it won’t stand out? You spent hours lovingly planning and storyboarding and writing the script for your video. It’s your baby. Naturally, you don’t want it to be ignored, you want it to be successful. What can you do?!?

Here’s the tip. A video that looks really nice is less likely to be ignored. Although advancing technology is making home videos look better everyday, face it, a cell phone camera or a Flip just isn’t going to do the same job as professional grade equipment. In many ways, the difference between High Definition and Standard Definition video is really the difference between good and bad-looking video. Really, if you want to guarantee results, shooting video without good lighting and sound equipment is a waste. You can spend hours of time later trying to get the footage to look better, but you can also save yourself the hassle by simply making a few choices about how to make your video look more professional before shooting it.

Do your research! Watch a few videos and think about what you like and don’t like about them. Look at the lighting. Listen to the sound. Plan accordingly. You’ve worked hard creating this thing. Don’t let it fall apart now! If you’re really serious about this video, don’t be afraid to spend a little money. If you’re using it for advertising, a good video will give you quite an advantage. A poorly-made video will give you a poor image. Remember that while making choices about your video.

It plays over and over again in your head. You’ve plotted your budget, you’ve checked and double-checked your resources and you know who your target audience is. What’s the next logical step to take?

Well, just as if you were planning a trip, the next thing you’d want to do is map out your route. In video terms, we call that a Storyboarding and Scriptwriting. The storyboard can literally be seen as a map of what shots will be included in your video. I’m sure you’ve all seen a traditional storyboard...a piece of paper with a few boxes drawn on it, and pictures inside of those boxes. But a storyboard can look however you want it to. You can use words to describe what happens in the scenes if you feel you’re not a great artist. Sometimes, storyboards can have more words than pictures, some have pictures but no words. It depends on the project and your personal preference.

Next thing along the way is writing a script. This will actually dictate which camera shots come when. If there are speaking parts or narration, this is where you get the chance to write them. Both Scriptwriting and Storyboarding are essential parts of the video production process. It’s important to have a strong foundation when making a video. If you go ahead and create a video without a solid plan, don’t be surprised if it falls apart halfway through. But a thoroughly-planned video will make things a lot easier in the long run, so this isn’t the step you want to skimp on. In fact, if you really want to make a video with an impact, don’t skimp on ANY steps!

You need a really great crew and a super spaceship, and you need to use technology to your advantage. It might take several tries. You might get discouraged along the way. Remember, the Internet is huge and growing all the time. There are so many particular groups and sites and ways that people access their information that successfully reaching a large amount of people takes a lot of skill and luck. But my tip for you today is that you have to start somewhere. And that’s where Strategy and Development come into play. Before even drawing up your space ship’s plans, you have to start with an idea.

Your video must start as a vision, and you must develop that vision until it’s something that can become a reality. It’s important to outline the exact message you’re trying to get across, and the timeline for creating your video. You have to set goals and make sure they’re clearly defined and understandable. You have to make sure you have access to the right tools and resources. And you need to make sure you know exactly who your target audience is. The more vague your project is at this point, the more difficult it will be to create later. Why go up into space without knowing where you’re heading?

Personally, I really like to stay in the know when it comes to media and technology, but it seems like a new mobile device is being unveiled every day, or my friends are talking about some new website that I’ve never even heard of.

Over the past decade, media has transformed tremendously, and it keeps changing every day. It can be really difficult to keep up with the changing times. Technology can be expensive, confusing, and downright scary, but it doesn’t have to be. With a little time and knowledge, you’ll find that keeping up isn’t so hard.

One of the developments that I find most fascinating is that fact that we can watch movies, television and youtube videos right on your phone or other mobile device. Video has so many uses, like entertaining, teaching, and advertising, sometimes it’s hard to see just how immersed in video our lives have become. So I don’t think it’s too hard to believe when I say that video is the best way to embrace changing technology and to get your message across at the same time. In my next few posts, I would like to give you some tips on the best ways to reach an audience with video. If you’re thinking of using video it’s important to remember to have a process in order to stay organized. The tips I’m going to give you will guide your through a step-by-step process so you don’t have to get left behind when it comes to creating engaging and effective video.

Personally, I really like to stay in the know when it comes to media and technology, but it seems like a new mobile device is being unveiled every day, or my friends are talking about some new website that I’ve never even heard of. Over the past decade, media has transformed tremendously, and it keeps changing every day. It can be really difficult to keep [...]

2011 Davey Awards

Beholder Productions was recently announced as a 2011 Davey Award Winner! The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the "Creative Davids" who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than stratospheric budgets.

What makes horror movies so frightening? What keeps us on the edge of our seats? All you have to do is look at a scene from any thriller to see your answer. Remember the famous shower scene from Psycho? Remember the sound effect that was played when the killer was stabbing his victim? Of course you do. You could have never seen Psycho and would probably still know exactly what I’m talking about. Therein lies the answer. Sound.

Now imagine that same scene from Psycho, but with a pop song playing in the background. It doesn’t quite have the same effect, does it? The music and sound that is added to a film is not added without putting some serious thought into it. And the same concept applies to all sorts of video. Classic films just wouldn’t be the same without their soundtracks. The perfect soundtrack takes careful planning and a clear understanding of the message of the piece to have just the right impact. The wrong sound effect or song could make the audience laugh where you intended them to cry.

When you’re passionate about music, hearing a song or a sound creates a picture. And when you’re passionate about video production, the perfect music comes to mind when you see a piece without sound. Those two passions really create a perfect match when editing a video. There’s nothing quite like that creeping, building tension that the music creates in a scary horror scene, or the pride we feel when Rocky finally reaches the top of the art museum steps and music swells, or that feeling of triumph when baby Simba is being held in front of all the other animals while they sing about the Circle of Life. Music and sound is honestly what makes a film whole.

I’m sure you’re bound to come across a few thrillers on TV this time of year. Next time Psycho is on, imagine the sound of dogs barking instead of the famous screeching violins, and be glad their sound was handled by a pro instead.
