Like this week’s BBUK news, this is kind of a nothing-burger, but at least Channel 10’s press releases are less fucking dull than ITV’s.

Banijay Entertainment, BBAU’s production company, has confirmed Mel Tracina will be returning as host – adding that the “upcoming season will have a stronger focus on live nominations, live evictions, and live feeds.”

That was a big focus last year, too (the Live Stream was literally the best thing about the series), so… does this actually mean anything? We do not know. 🤷‍♂️

Meanwhile, Channel 10 punched up their presser with a quote from Big Brother himself:

Another year, another group of housemates who think they can outsmart me. How adorable.

Australia, I hope you’re ready, because I’ve been watching, I’ve been planning, and let’s just say… this year’s surprises will be my finest work yet. Welcome back to my House.

According to Channel 10, we can expect “even more twists, unexpected friendships, hilarity, tantrums, and maybe a showmance or two!

ITV CONFIRMS EXTENDED SERIES OF BIG BROTHER FOR THIS AUTUMN

ITV has extended this year’s Big Brother UK to eight weeks – up from seven last year, and six the previous two years. For anyone keeping score, that’s still a week shorter than the early Channel 4 series, but slightly longer than the last few Channel 5 ones. The show is back this autumn on ITV2 and ITVX.

ITV’s press release (linked above) claims BBUK has now been streamed over 163 million times on ITVX – they were still saying 150 million as recently as November, so that gives us some idea of how things are going.

The press release also reveals there will be Housemates, a House, evictions, and a winner. Big if true.

It’s official: ITV is “resting” Celebrity Big Brother until at least 2027

There’s not a huge amount of new information for us to share here – we already knew Late & Live had been cancelled, and that the next series of Celebrity Big Brother UK was being “pushed back” and bumped to ITV2.

But TV Zone has confirmed what we already thought: CBBUK is being “rested” during 2026, and is “expected” to return in 2027.

The main, “civilian” series will air on ITV2 in the autumn as usual.

Depending on when BBAU returns, this might mean a quiet few months from us, but rest assured we’ll still be keeping our all-seeing eye on all the latest developments.

After days of Live Stream censorship, we finally know Abiola’s fate. And, at least as far as the show is concerned, she’s an evictee, not a walkout! As part of this week’s Christmas-themed events, Abiola was the first to ring the bell in the living room – claiming $15,000 from the prize fund and sealing her fate as the fourth evictee of 2025.

Abiola has left the Big Brother House, but that’s pretty much all we’ll know until Sunday

I told you to be ready for shenanigans. On Wednesday, Channel 10 started running BBAU promos teasing a “walkout”. And on Friday, after a three-hour Live Stream outage, fans realised Abiola had vanished.

It’s not difficult to put the pieces together: presumably, Abiola was offered money to leave the House early. But every time her name is mentioned on the Live Stream, the audio is cut – so we’ll have to wait for Sunday’s Live Eviction show to see exactly what went down.

What we do know, thanks to Behind Big Brother’s Fan Diary, is that all Housemates were called to the Diary Room at 9:50am AEST (House time) on Day 20. The stream was then cut until 12:37pm, and remained heavily censored for the rest of the day, with muted audio and frequent shots of empty rooms. At 2:07pm it was revealed that Abiola’s bed had been stripped. And at 2:50pm, Emily finally managed to sneak the words “Abs is gone” past the censors.

With no episode on Saturday, it’s likely the heavy censorship will continue throughout most of this weekend. It feels like an extremely messy approach – even compared to ITV completely cutting off the BBUK Live Stream following backdoor evictions.

It’s commendable that Channel 10 seems committed to keeping the Live Stream running in one form or another, but it’s baffling that they’re trying to keep the latest twist a secret. It’s not like we don’t already know who’s gone.

At least when ITV makes dumb choices, it only affects the Live Stream for three hours.

Day 23 update: Abiola’s fate has now been confirmed.
