^^ No. Ad Hoc is a connection between 2 computers. This makes your PC into a Router. A proper Router like the ones you from Linksys or Cisco.

@GX it depends on whether the drivers enable the virtual adapter.

@Jal Connectify will most probably be a paid service.

This is for laptops with Intel based WiFi, what about normal desktop PCI based WiFi cards from netgear etc? Can we also use it?

Cool. solves the problem when friends come over and u have just one wired connection. Connectify is one similar software u might wanna check out.
