Summer League: Looking Ahead To Gameweek 4

Just a quick one this time since I'm in a bit of a rush. As Summer League draws to a close, most positions if not all are still to be decided. If we examine the league table we can spot two pairs that are tied on points, and battling for silverware. CHASE and LDW will play each other for the final time to decide the league winner. They are drawn on points, and CHASE have the advantage in goal difference, so only a win will do for LDW tonight. In a similar situation on the league table are Wreckin Boyz and DUMP, both tied on points, but the Boyz are ahead on goal difference by 5.

Summer League Second Round Schedule Confirmed

We are in our final phase of the Belfast Ultimate Summer League now, and have split into two competitive divisions to play out the rest of the league. I know there's only one week left, but I thought it would be worth confirming the schedule with you guys. Final standings from the first round-robin were used, and were as follows:

Team A: LDW
Team B: CHASE
Team C: DUMP
Team D: Wreckin Boyz
Team E: Frisbeezer

Fantasy Frisbee

This year's Fantasy Frisbee score prediction game was a great wee bit of fun. In all there were 19 participants, and involvement from all teams. At the last update, there was hot competition for the top spot with both Linter and Poody in joint first position, and more than a few just behind within reaching distance.

Some Lost Property After Gameweek 3

I have a couple of lost discs, and a plain black T shirt, all of which are in the pictures, so you can check if it's your stuff.
Also of note, Windy has a pair of boots believed to be Pete's, and another disc, believed to be Chris Linter's.
I'll be at training tomorrow night if you want to come down and collect your stuff.

Gameweek 3: The Division Split

So this coming Tuesday (19th July) we will resume the Belfast Ultimate Summer League. As I've said before, this year's format will be slightly different than previous years. We are playing a single round-robin (where all teams play everyone else once), followed by a division split where we will split into two divisions, and we will play another round of matches against teams only in the same division, much like the format of the Scottish Premier League.

This week's lost property haul was rather less impressive than last week's. Only a black cap and a Jestival disc were recovered. If you want to reclaim these items, please get in touch with your TD, David Hammond, or if you leave it long enough, check my eBay listings ;)

Stop Press: CHASE lose Summer League game

For the first time since Summer League started in 2008 CHASE have lost a game, ending an unbeaten streak of 25 games. A few teams have come close before, most notable The Swerve in 2009 took CHASE to a 9 all draw. But last night a resurgent LDW triumphed 7-6 over the Combertonians.

CHASE arrived early and warmed up. LDW arrived mostly late, with just enough players to actually start the game! The lack of players didn't deter LDW though, who took an early 2-0 lead and command of the game. At this point, the rest of LDW started turning up.

Looking ahead to gameweek 2 of the Summer League

Gameweek 2 has some crucial matches, which could prove decisive for final league standings. If you look at the league table, and using some background knowledge, you could pick these two pairings out as being very close: CHASE vs LDW and Wreckin Boyz vs DUMP. While all four are currently level on points, there is a definite divide already on matches in hand, and goal difference, effectively pairing them up at this stage. I have picked out some findings from the score prediction game which might prove interesting, if nothing else.

Summer League week 3 will be postponed by a week to avoid The Twelfth

The Summer League will take a break during the week of The Twelfth. This week's Summer League (5th July) will not be affected, and we will return to Shorts for week 3 of the league on the 19th July. The schedule will therefore be pushed back by a week, and is now:

8:00pm CHASE vs DUMP

Summer League Week 1, TD's Report

Summer League 2011 got off to a successful start. Five enthusiastic teams turned up to play the first four matches of the league, with plenty of new faces and beginners in tow. After receiving plenty of help setting up from volunteers, and a brief captain's meeting, the first matches were under way.
