This is 512 bytes of nonsense, since the Firefox 2 developers and IE7
developers and Safari RSS developers decided that they would make
obsolete declared XML styles by overriding them without permission.
Their own styles seem to be of varying quality, and importantly do not
integrate Feedburner's services, which hopefully are of real use to
subscribers and potential subscribers. Therefore, we use this unofficial
workaround, which consists of filling up the first 512 bytes of a
document so that the sniffer doesn't encounter the RSS tag in time to
autodetect it. Now, without further ado, we present you with a valid
XML feed, presented in the manner we have chosen to offer it.

"It is quite possible that we are now at the most dangerous moment since the American financial crisis began last August," says Lawrence Summers. Summers, a member of the Belfer Center's Board of Directors, says the staggering increases in oil prices and other commodities has brought consumer confidence to new lows and raised serious inflation concerns. He urges Congress to pass the housing bill immediately, to promptly pass other fiscal measures in response to the nation's economic difficulties, and to address non-monetary factors causing inflation concerns. In addition, Summers says, regulators should do what is necessary "to assure that in the event of an institution becoming insolvent they can manage the resolution in a way that protects the system while also protecting taxpayers."

"Muller argues that ethnonationalism is the wave of the future and will result in more and more independent states, but this is not likely. One of the most destabilizing ideas throughout human history has been that every separately defined cultural unit should have its own state. Endless disruption and political introversion would follow an attempt to realize such a goal. Woodrow Wilson gave an impetus to further state creation when he argued for "national self-determination" as a means of preventing more nationalist conflict, which he believed was a cause of World War I...."

June 9, 2008

The United States is not a foreign actor in the Middle East, but a leading local player. Its strategic aims go well beyond the traditional ones of protecting Arab allies, preserving Israel's dominance over everyone else in the region, and ensuring the free flow of oil.
