So we’re driving along and spy these kites in the air. Not just any kites, but a spinning rainbow kite of goodness! Among others. It was the rainbow one that made me completely flip. out.

Because when I see kites like that I know it means one thing.

KITE STORE!!!!!

oh. my. gosh. oh. my. gosh. oh. my. gosh!!!!
yes, that’s pretty much how it sounded with me in the car. Eeeeeeeeeeee!!! A kite store!! Ok guys get this, I hadn’t been to a kite store in YEARS. We tried to go to one in Granbury (near us) and drove to it just to see it was gone. The last one I had been to was the one in Port Aransas where I picked up my stunt kite (and promptly killed it.) That was even before B. Anyway as it turns out Kites Unlimited has been in Galveston for 20 something years. We had missed it every time because of the location I guess. This was a new location on the Seawall and FINALLY we discovered a kite store in Galveston!!

So of course we tear into the parking lot and make a bee-line for the store. And I’m pretty much bouncing out of my seat.
and. then. we. walk. in. we. see. this.

And of course I’m squealing and turning in circles and flipping out…

p.s. I couldn’t have the giant kite of awesomeness so I settled for a new stunt kite (the rainbow one below) and a kite with a 50′ tail, 2 windsocks and a shark kite. Just a small chunk of $$$ at the kite store. Honey badger don’t care.

Stunt kites!! So much fun to fly (and crash!) 

Well after our big fat adventure at Kites Unlimited (we were there forever, btw) we finally made our way out to Galveston Island State Park. We have a state park pass so we didn’t have to pay the daily admission fee – but I love this place. Always so pretty! Totally worth the small price to get in.

You’d think we would have flown our kites first thing at the park… but I was more concerned with shooting details at the time ha ha. And flipping out because I forgot my sunscreen. Yes, this girl burns. BTW I took plenty of pics of the state park and it’s beach side camping facilities and will post them, that’s just a whole other post! ;)  Well stay tuned for more adventures from our Galveston trip!!

So we went on a little road trip and then I got CRAZY GIRL EXCITED. Cause I kept seeing signs for Buc-ee’s!!

Seriously, those signs crack me up. I really like the one somewhere before Waco that says “it’s almost potty time!!” and then the mileage is like, 200 something. bahaha! I know, I totally should have taken a pic of that one but I was apparently digging through the snack box and scarfing down rice crispy bars. Anyway, we had yet to experience the land of gas station goodness that is BUC-EE’s. And finally we got to check it out.

Oh, it’s just this gas station. That has FUDGE. and snacks bonanza. It’s HUGE.

p.s this girl totally got a cheese cake and Beaver Nuggets!! and Wisconsin cheddar cheese. Despite the fact I already had cheese sticks in the cooler.

Oh, and then they have this ginormous case of beef jerky!!! all kinds of fancyyyyy pants beefs, and cheeses too!

Just another close up shot of the beef jerky case, in case you didn’t believe me. I think there was Dr. Pepper beef jerky too. But I’ll have to confirm next time, as there was too much squealing going on for me to remember.

nom nom nom look at all those tasty gold Buc-ee’s beaver nuggets. Kinda like cracker jacks, that’s my best description. ;) the orange ones are spicy!

We couldn’t leave Fort Worth until B’s classes were out so it was a night drive to the beach. After our road trip AKA my  5 hour snack-a-thon we finally arrived in Galveston and checked into this adorable and affordadable little beach cottage.  And by checking in I mean grabbed the flashlight, found the key box and punched in the code to get our key! So easy. ;) It was a great little place to stay – simple, quiet, SUPER close to the beach, full kitchen, washer and dryer. Even better it was $65 / night! Gotta love Airbnb.

See that fridge? Oh I brought so much food. Grapes, sandwich fixin’s, yada yada yada. Then we ate out most of the time. HA HA!! Still always great to have a place for cold drinks!

We didn’t get a chance to use the beach cruisers but they’re included in your rental to ride around. Pretty sweet! :)

Oh man, the lighting here is sooooo bad. ha ha! Actually took these the MOMENT we were leaving (up bright and early for our VIP tour at NASA!) and almost forgot a pic of the cottage. Loved the yellow! Check back tomorrow for more pics of our trip – there will be lots of squealing over the EPIC kite store and a giant conch shell!
