Stay Matte All Day With These Face-Powder Application Tricks

Most of us are tempted to reach for the compact to ward off shine, but the last thing you want is to create a cake-y mess as a result. Whether you choose pressed or loose powder, CoverGirl celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey has discovered a foolproof method for maintaining a matte look. All you have to do is apply it once - the right way.

The basics: Bailey recommends using a light formula that matches your skin tone in the morning, concentrating your application on the centre of your face. "Most people say put powder in the T-zone, but really it's more like the middle zone," he explains. Sweep product on your forehead, chin, and nose, and don't forget the area around the nose.
For touch-ups: Carry blotting papers instead of a pressed powder compact to avoid caking on more product during the day.
Insider tip #1: Putting powder on the cheeks can draw attention away from your laugh lines.
Insider tip #2: If you are planning to have your picture taken, powder the entire face. Then use highlighter along your jawline to bring out a subtle shine.
Insider tip #3: Bailey also likes to put powder on the inner eyes. Just use a clean eyeshadow brush to cover lids and help eye makeup last.

She's been switching up her beauty style on The Voice, going from textured tresses to braids to pretty ponytails, but this is Delta Goodrem as we've never seen before: looking hauntingly beautiful on the cover of Vogue. The "Sitting on Top of the World" songstress is the cover girl for the July issue which goes on sale June 6. Posing for a series of sultry shots in front of Nicole Bentley's lens, makeup maestro Napoleon Perdis was the man responsible for her new look which featured brown shadow smudged up and around the eye socket, black pencil on the inner Vs, subtlely bronzed cheeks and a nude lip. Darren Borthwick styled Delta's strands into a pretty side ponytail teamed with a neck tie. See a sneak peek at what it was like on the shoot .

Fresh from her stint in Cannes, Melissa George hopped on over to London to attend the British Academy Television Awards which were held at the Royal Festival Hall last night. Adding a dose of international glamour to the event, Melissa sported a retro-inspired look with curled mid-lengths to ends, winged eyeliner and a pretty peach lipstick. Water-lined eyes modernise the look and the co-ordinating lip and cheek colour is a softer choice than red meaning you can wear this look from day-to-night with a more relaxed hairstyle such as a ponytail or high bun.

Covergirl Gets a New Australian Ambassador: Ricki-Lee Coulter

Ricki-Lee Coulter has been announced as the latest COVERGIRL brand ambassador, joining Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres and Taylor Swift. The brand announced the news on its Facebook page yesterday, sharing a shot of the "Do It Like That" singer captioned with: "Exciting news! We're so proud to announce Ricki-Lee as the new Australian ambassador for COVERGIRL. We're thrilled to welcome her to the COVERGIRL family!" As only the second ever Australian ambassador for the makeup giant - the first being Jennifer Hawkins - it's a huge deal for Coulter who said she was "honoured" to be the face of the brand. There's no word yet on when her first campaign will be aired, or even what it's for, but we'll bring you more news as soon as we have it. What do you think about the pairing? In case you haven't already noticed, we've got an obsession with manicures and nail art here at the Sugar Network. We've all dabbled in crazy colours like neon yellow and lime green, we've even mastered the art of the feature nail -you know, when you paint one nail on each hand a different colour to the rest. Somebody stop us! I've wanted to try a nail art pen for quite a while now, and after picking up Manicare's GlamNails Nail Art Pen, the big day has arrived. The pen is water-based so there's lots of room for trial and error - you simply wipe it off with a wet cotton tip and try again. Easy! I took pictures along the way, so let me know what you think. Lesson learned: practice makes perfect...
