I was recently contacted my a mother of a 3 week old baby girl. She didn’t realize that newborn sessions are best booked before the baby is born and that the optimal time to photograph newborns is between 5-10 days old. I explained that to the lovely woman on the other end of the phone line but she knew she really wanted to capture her daughter during this precious fleeting time, despite that I wouldn’t be able to get to see her for two more weeks due to my busy schedule. I also explained to her, as I would all other inquiring parents, at 5 weeks old the baby would not likely be molded into some of the curled and propped positions you may have seen here or on other photographer’s sites. It didn’t matter to her and that was OK by me. In fact, she really wanted shots of the baby awake–something I am hearing more and more. Well, it’s no wonder why she wanted to see her baby girl’s eyes!! They are a stunning blue, beautiful and round! The rooms that I shot in all had the most incredible curved windows towards the front of the home. All the way up to the master with a turret and light to die for. These windows created the most amazing effect in her eyes. Catch lights times 10! It was an amazing session and I am so excited to share with you the images from our morning together. And when the first click of the day is a smile, you know it’s gonna be a good one. Enjoy!

Oh, how I love that name. It had always been on my list of names for boys but it never came to fruition. I painted the name in bubble letters on the inside of my closet when I was a teenager, probably due to the small crush I had on heavy metal rocker Sebastian Bach (what was I thinking?). I didn’t listen to heavy metal bands but their ballads were always soft and pretty, which is probably what hooked me on him. How’s that for a little tid-bit of randomness? Well, this little guy named Sebastian was a little angel for me. He, in all of his 9 weeks, had been through so much. Born 5 weeks early and in an out of the hospital, pushing our shoot further and further out. Regardless of all the poking and prodding he endured he was as sweet as can be. All the while producing one of my all time favorite newborn shots to date. So ethereal and angelic. I think you will agree when you see it. Have a great weekend! Enjoy! x0

I had the pleasure of photographing this stunning mom and her precious little boys back in early March. I immediately feel a connection when I meet moms with two sons, as I myself am a mother of two boys. I have heard time and time again that the love a son has for his mother is like no other. I’m beginning to really feel it as my eldest has starting telling me he wants to marry me and tells me I am beautiful every day. My heart wants to burst. And I’m sure this mama, though her hands are undoubtedly full, her heart is full as well. Enjoy! xoxo
