okay, I always say I prefer a city view over a beach/ocean view… but this is kinda breathtaking… it’s the best beach restaurant view in all of LA for real and damn the food is very good. the bar is on point and the decor and ambiance is aligned. even the bathroom smelled like hello kitty water. and that shit looked like what urinals would look like in heaven or some shit

definitely have to make more visits there when the weather is even better…. and only on off days, I don’t fuck with weekends and waiting, the problem with me… whenever I visit a friend at a nice hotel or someplace, I’m always tipping $20 to get my car because they put it up front… so by the end of the day it’s usually $100 instead of $15 smh… so with waiting, I get irritated and give the host $200 to sit down and that usually costs more than our meal…. so off days lol

Mannion started taking professional photos around 1996 and that’s kinda late in the game, but in our world now, that’s triple OG status…. I remember being in the same room with dude, but I had no idea who he was…. crazy how many memories some of these pics bring, especially the true golden era of hip hop.
we shot some footage there and I chopped it up with Mannion and wondered why is it that I have shot with every single major photog in hip hop culture or in his realm, except for him? haha, its coming soon though…. and later that night DJ Quik dj’d an ill set and a bunch of celeb’s showed up and Big Daddy Kane performed… but I was gone out of the city

I wanted to kill myself. Nic couldn’t hear them, but she wasn’t sitting next to them. I really wanted to say please shut the fuck up and even under my breathe sorta loud. but I didn’t wanna ruin it for Nic. smh fml

sunday, back in town, better weather and we headed over to the beach to get some brunch and seriously after more and more time spent in the south bay. I rather own a home in Manhattan Beach than in Malibu… I know, may sound crazy. but fuck malibu. such a damn nightmare getting there now unless you’re on a motorcycle that it ruins the trip and honestly? even the private beaches suck. Nobu is the only decent spot to eat at and I couldn’t give a cats ass if there are tons of million/billionares there. I’m more about manhattan beach’s energy…. a lot of good food on Highland too…. ate and ran into an old high school friend of mine and then we walked the pier and chilled for a couple hours in the area

Even more than last time I went when the clippers played Miami or the Celtics smh…. shit was cracking inside like a lakers game. fucking band wagon riders (why was I there? just to watch a game, had zero interest or favor in either side) but The Game was there, so was Don Cheadle, Billy Crystal, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna and we were sitting next to my boys G Roberson and Chad Hugo of the Neptunes…..

I’ve been on a pretty serious diet for the past 8 days and I lost 8lbs already…. so when I saw all this amazing comfort food that my homey Mila made for the party, I was lightweight sad. when she broke out the deep fried oreos, I was heavyweight crushed lol….. I am trying to take less than 60 grams of carbs per day and starting some light cardio work and the supplements I’m on right now are working real good… I feel much better and have more energy actually…..

I usually end the weekend blog with some positivity or something to look forward to, but I’m actually not looking forward to this week…. I wish the filming was over with. I hate, FUCKING HATE being involved in shit that isn’t my DIRECT responsibility. If I’m being paid to make or design some jewelry, then I’ll give you that, maybe some pics and a shout out and a convo for a bit, but I’m not obligated to do anything else. with some of my other work, I make it clear that I will be involved under certain circumstances…. I’m too old to do extra shit I’m not being paid to do. If I’m the one being asked or approached to do a job, then I’m doing that job and that job well. I know there are responsibilities that could come with the job, but that’s what a team or producer or other things are for. With my store, I’m the talent, the salesman, the manager, the owner, the face, all the above… but I couldn’t do that without my team…. people used to always wish for extra shit… like if I’m booked for a job, they expected Jonas to be there with me and he always was, but Jonas wasn’t being paid to show up, so I felt bad sometimes. If you book coco for a job, you might see Ice-T, but don’t expect you’re gonna get 2 for the price of 1 all the time or don’t expect it period actually…. so the celebrity aspect of my life is cool, but that shit doesn’t define me or my business…. it’s just a good selling point. I’m telling my readers and friends that I really want this show to be character driven, not celebrity driven, but I know middle america loves any type of celebrity. If I was an exec producer, then I’d understand, but I only want to be the talent. I want to show up and do me and nothing else. tell me what time I’m supposed to be somewhere and that’s it…. magic will happen. too much other shit and I don’t know.

I know once a person hits our email with how much is this and that specific item is a few thousand dollars, understand that that item is actually really cheap. it doesn’t matter where my store front is located. my rent at the store is more expensive than any single business on Fairfax aka the block. yes, true story. I’m not talking about canters, but pretty much anything else streetwear wise including supreme has less rent than us….. we have tons of jewelry in stock and tons of gold. everything genuine. we don’t outsource anything, we make all our shit in house.

oh, those dumb ass commercials from stores selling diamond stud 1 carat earrings for $999? please do your research before you ask about something stupid like that…. and that same commercial claims to give you appraisals that will guarantee double the price you paid? ok, well then why not open a business of insuring everything you buy from that place and having it stolen, because even with the premiums, you’re still winning with getting double back. smh I swear to god some people have no common sense…. when someone who’s bought jewelry before and knows what shit costs comes to us, they never leave because they know they’re getting a great deal.

shout out to all our clients who don’t haggle prices with us. I know it’s tough out there, times are rough. so what does that mean? if you can’t afford jewelry, don’t buy that shit. again, this is not a good “investment”. what it is though is fly ass shit that is worth more dollar and percentage wise than any louis vuitton belt or purse resale wise after using it years and years later. it’s money spent. you can’t take an average high fashion worn tshirt or polo and resell it later for 1/2 of what you paid with the possibility of it actually being worth more than what you paid later in time.

lastly, I want to say this: I FUCKING HATE GOING OUT TO CLUBS IN LOS ANGELES. I have been to a club maybe 4 or 5 times inside the last year in LA. could be less. those times I went, I was asked as a favor via a celeb client who was dropping big bread or I was getting paid to be in that club. if you fuck with me, you really like fuck with me as a friend, do not ever ask me to meet you at any fagget ass nightclub. I hate the club scene in LA and I did this shit for over 20 years now….. I’ll do a show or a game and maybe even a 5 star hotel’s bar, but not a club that has a dj.

remember, unless you have a chain like this or anything vintage, you will never get melt down value for a chain, if gold is currently at $1800 an oz. that means 18k is $43.40 a gram BUT if you were to sell to cash for gold, you’d get around $25 a gram, a pawn shop would give you $30-$35 and a store if you were trading in for a new piece or chain, they’d give you the same maybe up to $40 but again only for a trade. remember, there are refinery fees, all that jazz. but if you have a solid gold suisse bar of gold or a american eagle or krugerrand coin you’re gonna get at least dead meltdown value, but you can get more on top of current gold value easily. since there is a premium for bars and coins. so when you buy a chain and lets say later you want to melt it down, like seriously and it’s not a piece that would appeal to many others, so it’d have to be melted down, you’re going to lose money on the labor which can be anywhere from $5 to $20 a gram depending on who is it. Cartier charges around $130 to $150 a gram for 18k!!!!! just know, unless you were copping jewels in the mid 90′s or early to mid 2000′s then you are not buying gold chains for an investment. if you buy raw gold, yeah, ok, but anything with little labor involved, you should be okay with. Even a basic cuban or franco link chain will be much more than whatever the daily current gold prices are. if you have a 14k 200 gram cuban, don’t expect to pay $6,600. there will be at least $5 to $8 in labor or premium costs on top of whatever gold costs, then shipping or whatever other costs go on top of that, then whatever mark up jewelry runs for. so even the mall shitty stores that don’t even carry any necklaces heavier than 60 grams are going to charge $60 a gram. just a footnote for those who have no idea. remember though, once is has a fancy name lasered on there “i.e. HW or tiffany and co. or even jacob” you are going to pay for a name. nothing else. unless you’re dealing with shitty down south jewelers.

when talking about custom made jewelry? you are paying for a mold, gold labor, diamond setting and so much other stuff, but we won’t get into that right now, this is just about gold chains. we had 42 cuban chains and now we have 3 left. you don’t think people called 100 stores or at least 8 different stores to see if our prices were close to what ours were going for? that was just a gift for y’all. but most of you have no fucking clue how expensive gold is. you just do 2 + 2 math and it’s not that simple. I wish it was.
