SUNRIVER — Flowriders and bodyboarders have their own individual styles, but both are candy for the eyes.When flowriders and bodyboarders compete, like at Saturday’s WaveLoch Flow Tour, they only have so long to show off as many moves as possible.At Maverick’s at Sunriver, flowriders were standing on short curved boards, bodyboarders lying prone on bodyboards hovering inches above a Kevlar-covered incline, doing a variety of tricks: 360 spins, twirls, hops, shove-its and ollies — all in span of 40 seconds.

July Fourth was an occasion for fitness, food and fireworks in Central Oregon. Some people started the day with the Spark Your Heart 5K run and walk in Bend and the Splash ’n’ Dash race in Prineville, with swimming, cycling, boating and running to benefit Crook County High School. People lined up for a pancake breakfast in Bend, and pets and their owners filled the streets downtown for the Bend Pet Parade. Dogs at the parade took the opportunity to cool off in a plastic kids pool on what turned out to be a hot and sunny Independence Day.

As the housing market deteriorated last year, a number of real estate agencies in Bend were forced to shut their doors. The biggest was the Nov. 1 closure of RE/MAX Equity Group, which affected roughly 50 real estate agents.But since the start of the year, 22 new real estate offices have opened in Bend, according to the Central Oregon Association of Realtors.
