If you have been living under a rock the past few months, you would have not been able to escape this tune. The song has been topping the charts globally and my kids contributed to the billions of streams it has received and continue getting. When I first heard of this movie on Netflix, I cringed at the name of the kids cartoon and thought it was riding the k-pop trend. How wrong was I when I finally watched it for the first time with my kids while on holiday. It tells the story of battles we all have been through about accepting ourselves and unleashing our full potential. Without risking spoiling your experience of the film’s plot, this is definately our summer tune this year and we will have a core memory of 2025 with this as a soundtrack. Also, it is now officially the most watched Netflix show at the time of posting!

I manage to setup my own digital download store on payhip.com for free in less than 24 hours with my own custom domain name. You can visit the store here and it is as per screenshot below. I uploaded the digital products that I have created along the years and updated it for the site.

Another Friday! and here is a track that made a comeback to my playlist.

Ricky Martin made an appearance at the MTV VMAs this year belting out and shaking his hips to all his hit songs. I just started secondary school when his song Maria started playing on Channel V and MTV. His boyish looks seems evergreen. There was also a viral story of William Hung auditioning for American Idol with the song “She Bangs”. That was awesome.

Ricky Martin is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and actor who rose to international fame as one of the most influential Latin pop artists of all time. Beginning his career as a member of the boy band Menudo, he later embarked on a successful solo journey that brought Latin music into the global spotlight. Known for his charismatic stage presence and energetic hits that blend pop with Latin rhythms, Martin became a trailblazer in bringing Spanish-language music to mainstream audiences. Beyond music, he is an outspoken humanitarian and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, solidifying his impact both on and off the stage.

I finally have my braces out this week after having it be a part of me for two years. To celebrate, I selected this track from the late 90s.

Vitamin C, the stage name of Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick, is a pop singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s with her infectious, upbeat sound. One of her standout tracks, “Smile,” perfectly captures her signature blend of catchy melodies and positive vibes. Released in 1999 as part of her self-titled debut album, “Smile” is an anthem of optimism, encouraging listeners to find joy even in tough times. With its cheerful lyrics and Vitamin C’s vibrant vocals, the song quickly became a fan favorite, embodying the feel-good spirit that defined much of her music. “Smile” remains a nostalgic gem for anyone who remembers the pop landscape of that era.

In a couple of weeks, thanks to the film Better Man about Robbie Williams, we will watching him live at La Defense Arena. I haven’t watch the film yet but did watch the Netflix documentary about Robbie Williams. I couldn’t comprehend how young he was when he achieved fame and how the media made the youngest member of Take That a villain for causing the break up of the band.

Robbie Williams, born Robert Peter Williams on February 13, 1974, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, is one of the most successful British pop stars of his generation. He first gained fame as a member of the boy band Take That in the early 1990s, where his charisma and rebellious image quickly set him apart. After leaving the group in 1995, Williams launched a solo career that soared to remarkable heights, beginning with his 1997 debut album, Life thru a Lens, which featured the enduring hit “Angels.” Known for his swaggering, self-aware lyrics and energetic performances, Williams has released 14 studio albums—most of which topped the UK charts—and achieved a record 18 Brit Awards, including Best British Male Artist four times. His concerts are legendary, with his 2003 Knebworth shows drawing over 375,000 fans, the largest UK music event at the time. Despite his massive success in Europe and Australia, Williams has never fully broken into the U.S. market. His career has also been marked by candid discussions of his struggles with mental health and addiction, themes explored in his audacious 2025 biopic, Better Man, which underscores his primal need to entertain and his resilience in the face of adversity. With over 75 million records sold worldwide, Williams remains a defining figure in British pop culture.

I will be in Norway for the first time in a couple of days and was looking up for artists from Norway that I knew of. There was the girl duo M2M and Lene Marlin.

Lene Marlin Pedersen, born on August 17, 1980, in Tromsø, Norway, is a celebrated singer-songwriter known for her introspective lyrics and acoustic pop sound. She burst onto the Norwegian music scene in 1998 with her debut single “Unforgivable Sinner,” which became the fastest-selling single in Norwegian history and held the number one spot for eight weeks. Her debut album, Playing My Game, released while she was still in high school, achieved remarkable success, selling over a million copies and producing international hits like “Sitting Down Here” and “Where I’m Headed”. Marlin’s subsequent albums—Another Day (2003), Lost in a Moment (2005), and Twist the Truth (2009)—further showcased her songwriting talent and earned her critical acclaim, including multiple Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy) awards and an MTV Europe Award for Best Nordic Act. Despite her fame, Marlin is known for her reserved personality and preference for privacy, often drawing inspiration from the solitude of her Arctic hometown and the long Scandinavian winters.

Today, I joined over 100 other parents in my kids school to share some interesting things about Malaysian Culture. It is the second time of us joining and all the hard work paid off by the looks of the children enjoying themselves. We had 3 other Malaysian families in the school this year which made us go all out. Other countries represented this year included South Korea, Japan, India, Myanmar, USA, Pakistan, Spain, England, Wales and Romania.

I used this as the welcome music as the kids arrived into the classroom. I can’t recall when I first heard this tune but it has always been part of my Malaysian heritage. If you ever need some presentation to share about Malaysia, reach out and I will be happy to share. Maybe I will post the video up one day.

Happy Friday folks!

End of the week and was looking at tracks for the Friday music post and Sugar Ray came into my mind. For some reason, I can’t find the video on their official youtube channel but hosted by a fan instead. Well, this is my favourite song from the band despite all their other hits. I used to have this track on replay.

Sugar Ray is an American rock band that originated in Newport Beach, California, in the late 1980s, co-founded by vocalist Mark McGrath and guitarist Rodney Sheppard. Initially, their sound leaned toward funk metal and alternative rock, but they achieved mainstream success after shifting to a more radio-friendly, pop-influenced style. Their breakthrough came in 1997 with the infectious hit “Fly,” featuring reggae artist Super Cat, which topped airplay charts and propelled their album Floored to double platinum status. Sugar Ray followed this success with a string of memorable hits, including “Every Morning” and “Someday” from their triple-platinum album 14:59, both of which became staples of late 1990s pop rock. Other notable tracks include “When It’s Over,” “Falls Apart,” and “Into Yesterday,” further cementing their reputation for catchy, sun-soaked anthems. Known for their laid-back vibe and summery sound, Sugar Ray remains a nostalgic favorite, with their biggest songs still resonating with fans decades after their initial release.

This is a retrospective post. I have finally finished my fifth day of ski lessons on the slopes of Avoriaz. I am glad that I stuck through it as I was almost ready on throwing in the towel on day 2 of the lessons. It was enjoyable and I definately need to practise more on my parallel turns to be more graceful. This reminds me of a track to persevere.

“You Gotta Be” is an uplifting R&B/soul song by British singer-songwriter Des’ree, released in 1994 as part of her second album, I Ain’t Movin’. The track, co-written with Ashley Ingram, became an international hit, celebrated for its empowering lyrics that encourage resilience, self-confidence, and positivity in the face of life’s challenges. Its memorable chorus, urging listeners to “be bad, be bold, be wiser,” resonated across generations and helped the song achieve top chart positions in the US, UK, Australia, and Spain. Des’ree, born Desirée Annette Weekes in Croydon, London, is known for her distinctive contralto voice and her ability to blend genres such as pop, soul, and R&B. Influenced by her Caribbean heritage and early exposure to diverse musical styles, Des’ree rose to prominence in the 1990s with a series of hits, including “Feel So High,” “Life,” and the ballad “Kissing You.” Her work has earned her critical acclaim and several major awards, including the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist. “You Gotta Be” remains her signature anthem, widely recognized for its message of hope and inner strength.
