Creating/Adding Custom Ringtone to iPhone for Free (How-To)

So you bought an iPhone. You love the phone and all its features, but wish you didn't have to pay for your songs twice to get a ringtone. Doubting to create your ringtone for free? Yes you can. If you have jailbroken your iPhone, you can easily download ringtones from Cydia and set it from the phone setting(Try out now). What if you did not jailbreak your phone? No worries, you are still be able to set it via iTunes.

Alright, all you need is a computer, iTunes, Ringtone file(.mp3 or etc.) on your PC, iPhone with a connector cable.

1) Start by choosing the song that you wish to set it as your phone ringtone.
Right click on it and click Create AAC Version. For this, I use Tou Tou by Soft Lipa as an example.

2) You will see there will be a lighted text under the .mp3 same name as you've select to created it as AAC version. You will hear a bling sound after it has completed.

3) Now delete the previous original .mp3 file then right click on the AAC version that you have created and select Get Info.

4) Double check on the file if it is in AAC version.

5) On the Option tap, trim a portion of it to be used as a ringtone. The maximum allowed length of the ringtone can be less than 30 seconds. Make sure you've ticked the box in Start time and the Stop time

6) Now drag file (AAC) to your desktop or anywhere you wish to place it, just a temporarily location. The file will be shown as .m4a file.

7) Now you want to rename it, if you're using Windows, Right click > Properties and Rename the .m4a to .m4r. If you cannot see the file, you have to go to Control Panel > Folder Option > View > Under Hidden files and folders > Untick Hide Extensions for known file types.

8) Back to desktop (or the location where you place your .m4a file and rename it at the end of the file name as .m4r.

9) Drag it into your iTunes. The file will be automatically placed under Ringtones. Now drag it into Ringtones under your iPhone. (by the way, Agnes' iPhone is my mom's iPhone)

10) Well done, now back to your iPhone Setting > Sound > Ringtone > Now change your ringtone!
iOS 5: You may not see the ringtones is located under CUSTOM but somehow it will be shown right before default ringtones.

7) If you don't see any custom ringtone from the list, back to iTunes and Sync it again. It should be there then.

That’s all to it to get a custom ringtone on your iPhone. These steps may look very confusing but it just simple to have your custom ringtone on your iPhone instead of spending money to buy it. Enjoy!

Apple iOS 5 Battery Problem Fixed Coming Version 5.0.1

Many users have reported the iPhone battery life was degraded after upgrading to iOS 5. We've covered some of the possible workarounds to fix the battery issue. Anyhow, they are just workarounds.
According to AllThingsD, Apple finally confirmed with them the less-than-expected battery life was actually due to bugs in iOS 5.

A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices," Apple said in a statement to AllThingsD. "We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.

Apple is now working on the fix and has already released iOS 5.0.1 beta for developer's testing. You can expect the battery problem will be resolved in the upcoming iOS update. According to the release note, here are the changes in iOS 5.0.1:

I'm recommending this No$GBA as it supports .gba or .nds games.

No$GBA is initially a freeware but the latest upgrades have to be bought for $2.50. If a new update is release, then the previous update becomes free.
It is said that this No$GBA is the top emulator for Nintendo DS Lite, DSi and Game Boy Advance but it does not say that it is perfect. Some games have trouble with codecs and some computers may not support the TCP/IP function.

I see many of them facing a problem which is they can't read the fonts on PPS.TV. I have also faced that problem before, but now I will share with you how to solve it.

Felt so annoyed by seeing this?

Okay now, all you have to do is:
1) Download pps.tv from download.pps.tv
2) After the installion, download Microsoft Applocale from my SKYDRIVE or from the MICROSOFT web.
3) Install Microsoft Applocale to your computer.

For Window 7 users, before the installation, you may need to right-click on the installer "apploc.msi" > Select to Compatibility > Mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for" > Select "previous version of window" on a drop down menu (as long as there is only one selection). Install it as well after you have applied.

4) After the installtion, open your Microsoft Applocale.
5) Click OK and browse the program which you wish to run (PPS.TV) from your computer.
7) Select the language. Example: 中文简体
8) Mark to make a shortcut you wish to open it easier for the next time in "Start Menu > All Program > Microsoft Applocale".
9) You have done!

PPStream Now Available on Mac OS X

If you only have the Int’l-English version of Windows, you’ll need to first install the Chinese Language pack. Additionally, you’ll need to under the Int’l-English version of Windows, the codepage will be incorrect and many parts of the interface will be rendered/decoded incorrectly (乱码). The codepage should be 936.

One of the most popular applications in China is the domestically developed “PP stream”. It’s closest analog in the west might be Joost or the iTunes Music Store. The key difference is that everything is free.

You’ve heard the legends of the China DVD market – where everything every published is available for $1 USD. With PP stream, the Chinese DVD market has come to you and all the DVDs are now free.
Currently PPsteam is only available for the Chinese version of Windows, but you can use PPStream with VMware Fusion. Ideally you should install the Chinese version of Windows.

Using the Control Panel / Regional and Language Options / Advanced tab set the Language for non-Unicode programs to: Chinese (PRC).

The format of the media files played by PPStream is readable by VLC, so there should be some way to access the files directly without the PPStream client, but current versions have hidden the URLs holding the media files.

Jailbreaking and Unlocking an iPhone: Definition

Jailbreaking and unlocking are terms that are bandied around the iPhone community. People don't always take the time to explain what they are or why they are valuable to users, so we thought we'd sit down and explain why they are still beneficial to the community at large.

Jailbreak

"Jail" refers to file system limitations put in place by Apple on standard iPhones. These limitations restrict iPhone read and write access to just a small part of the media partition. You cannot access system files at all and you cannot use the disk directly as you would with an iPod with disk mode enabled.

"Jailbreaking" opens the entire iPhone file system for use. Once jailbroken, you can read and write to system files as well as media files. You'll be able to use SFTP, AFP, and other standard file access protocols to read and write data. For example, you can use a client like Cyberduck to move data onto and off from the iPhone.

Jailbreaking also allows you to install third-party software (typically via Cydia) without using App Store and to access the Unix command line via OpenSSH. This lets you install software that otherwise cannot be obtained through App Store such as MMS clients, video recorders, and more.

Unlocking

As for unlocking, most phones are "locked" to a particular network. In the iPhone's case, that's AT&T for the US, O2 for Great Britain, and so on. Should you want to use your iPhone with another GSM carrier, you need to unlock.

Unlocking lets you place calls with any GSM carrier by inserting different Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) into the phone. Normally these SIMs from unapproved carriers won't work. When your iPhone is unlocked, just buy a local GSM-compatible SIM, place it in your phone, and make your calls. You'll be able to use your iPhone around the globe without paying exorbitant roaming fees.

Standard Cautionary Words

Both jailbreaking and unlocking will void your Apple warranty, except in places like Hong Kong where the phone is sold already unlocked. Caveat Jailbreaker.

Jailbreaking is not a one-way path, however. You can restore your iPhone to its pre-jailbroken state at any time by restoring it with standard firmware. Guides exist for "revirginizing" an unlocked iPhone, but their efficacy varies.

The legal consensus is that unlocking and jailbreaking are legal in most countries, including the US, but Ars is not your lawyer so do your own research before choosing whether or not to proceed.

These instructions proceed step-by-step, showing you what tools you'll need and walking you through the process. iOS 5 Awesome New Hidden Features

On Wednesday last week, Apple released a new mobile OS for users to download.

The iOS 5 is free and compatible with iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S, 3rd- and 4th-generation iPods, iPad and iPad 2.

But what hidden or novel features are there to the new OS? Here, we explore seven additions for iPhone and iPad interfaces:

User-Defined Keyboard Shortcuts

This feature enables the phone to auto-correct an abbreviation to a phrase you customize it to.
For example, when you type “fwiw”, the iOS will correct it to the full phrase “for what it’s worth”

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard.
Scroll to the bottom, where you will find a prompt to add a new shortcut.
Custom Vibrations for Call Alerts

This feature allows users to create and assign unique vibration sequences for specific contacts.

Go to Contacts > choose a contact > tap Edit > (scroll down) Vibrate > Create New Vibration.
Tap out the new vibration rhythm, and save it.
Create LED Flashes for Visual Alerts

This feature lets your iPhone alert you of messages or emails with its camera’s LED flash, when the phone is set to silent mode.

Go to Settings > General > Switch ‘on’ LED Flash For Alerts.
Instant Definitions

When you select and hold down a word, this feature:
- Defines—gives you the dictionary entry of the word, which include the definition, usage example, and other information such as its origin/derivative;
- Suggests—suggests a list of other words that you may prefer to type;
- Quotes—increases or decreases the vertical lines before the text.
Privacy and Pretending Not to Read iMessages

The new OS allows you to: privately browse on Safari, not notify your friends that you’ve read their messages on iMessages, and disable previews of your texts and emails so others can’t see them.

Go to Settings > Safari > Switch ‘on’ Private Browsing.
Go to Settings >Messages > Switch ‘off’ Send Read Receipts.
Go to Settings >Notifications > Switch ‘off’ Show Preview for both Messages and Mail.
Check App Usage

This feature allows you to check what apps are taking up the most of your device’s storage capacity.

Alternate Routes in Map

iOS 5 allows users to search for alternate routes on their mobile devices.
After defining your location and destination, Maps lets you view the different routes, by tapping ‘Route 1’, ‘Route 2’, ‘Route 3’, etc, on the map itself.

升上初中二后, 完全英语制度地数学教学当时真的让我措手不及. 当时我是一个完全不会说英语的孩子, 日常生活当中也极为少用, 如果要我自我介绍, 我会不以为意地说, I is a boy. 这让我在初中的那段日子都是煎敖. 再面对所有马来文和英文的课业时, 我完全摸不透参考书里头那些陌生的字眼, 最后我逃避了, 重重地打击了我对学习的信心, 渐渐地也对课业失去了兴趣.
中三评估考试, 我败惨了, 他也因这件事在补习课里臭骂了我一顿, 当时我的心情是惊险与紧张. 在超过五十多位学生当面喝骂着我我的心全碎了. 那一幕, 迄今为止还久久无法忘记. 被一个偶相辱骂的滋味, 很不是味道. 不过这一骂, 不是枉然的, 至少他把我从一个深坑洞起拉起了, 我恍然发现到我身为一个学生最重要的本份. 之后的每一课, 我都带着战战兢兢的心情到他那里, 就好像兵士抱着必死的心态步入战场.

Just one month left. 这讯息不断的在我脑中环绕着, 在我意志模糊时在我耳鼓边告诉我时日无多, 大考就到临了. 生活中有太多的挑衅, 吸引力超强的诱惑. 有时候我宁愿自己是个不问世俗的原味乡下佬, 至少我还可以清楚地执着着自己的生活目标, 不必去理会世界大新闻, 就像是美国遭恐怖份子袭击, 还是那些政治风波, 更或者是新世纪科技的伟大发明. 当个纯正原汁原味的土包子, 朝日过着悠闲自在的生活, 每天走一日, 看一日, 每晚可以高枕入眠, 生活其实是番享受, 哪时饿了, 就下田采米, 哪时饿了, 就去河边打水, 哪时累了, 就躺在草席上, 盖上干草编织的草被, 打呼睡觉.

然而, 当我意识回来, 望着身边科技的伟大作品, 心叹还是算了吧, 我太热诚于这些电子产品, 他们个个就是一手由人类创作的孩子, 哪怕目前科技的限度, 全都是无有感情的生物, 至少她们都是生活上的消遣, 没有会背叛我们的感情思想, 一心一意地为我们操作满足我们.

Steve Jobs: A Biography has been written by Walter Isaacson - a prominent journalist who has served positions such as Chairman and CEO, CNN and Managing Director, TIME Magazine. The biography is based on over 40 interviews conducted with Steve Jobs over a period of two years as well as “more than a hundred” interviews with friends and family, rivals and co-workers.

Walter Isaacson’s biography of notoriously private Jobs, simply titled “Steve Jobs,” has been moved up to an October 24th publishing date. Long Time No See! Aite today I'm gonna share about my school cross country run. Honestly, I have forgotten the actual date. Well it doesn't matter anyway. Let's get it started. I believe every school do have their yearly event such as this cross country run. Youth Park is where every school organizes the run.

Youth Park or Taman Belia is one of favorite places for the people of Penang to do their recreational activities. It is also one of the best public parks in the state. This area has been established for quite some time. It is actually an extension of the Botanical Garden with the vision that this park will be the place for young people to play, camp and have fun without endangering themselves or disturbing the rest of the public. The Rotary Club built the roller skate ring as one of its projects for the park. Now, there are several manmade pools too in addition to the natural streams which come from the waterfalls. I am being an Apple Fan since 2010, it was actually a pretty late time. Since before that, I was just only knew that iPhone is something expensive and complicated that impossible for me to chill with. At the late 2010, I started to touch and feel the awesomeness of the super high-tech smartphone including the popular iPad and iMac. Since then, I knew that I have been falling deep in love with all of the Apple Products.

My first impression of iPhone was when I had my first-touched on the it. I didn’t know much about the creator. I remember that time one of my friend, an iPhone 3G user, was joking with me. He told me that the beloved Mr. Steve Jobs had been suffering in a hard cancer. ‘He’s dying manggg. Seriously, I had a strong feeling and in emotional stirrings and wanted to know more the details. I then tried to make some research from the internet and learn more about Steve Jobs from Wikipedia.After I read through every single line, every golden information that written on wiki, I was like ‘Wow! He is not only the Father of Apple, but also the creator of Pixar.’ I Love Apple.

Even though how much do I love the Apple products, but my family economic doesn’t allow me to get those high cost stuffs. But one thing, I was lucky that my aunt got me an iPod, which is the my first apple product. And now I’m still using it frequently and it’s helping me to stay connected with the music I love anytime, anywhere.

2011, my family finally got an Apple latest product, iPhone 4. Pettily, it wasn’t mine. My parents told me that I shouldn’t use anything which is more expensive then what they’re using. I don’t know why, maybe it’s a sort of Chinese traditional I guess? They also say that I don’t deserve to it by the way. Hell no. After some time using it, my family found that iPhone is a powerful technology device to get, and then both of them owned an iPhone4.

I am so hungry after iPhone, Macbook and iPad since a long time until now. I know this wasn’t sound cool. Friends around started having what I want but they are all weren’t in my hand. The envy comes to me strongly. I vow to myself, I will get what I want next year. But so far what I can do is to love them silently deep in my heart.

6th of October 2011, I was in school as usual, taking my phone surfing on the net. I was stunned by a shocking news. It was absolutely amazed and astonished and I felt so doubting if the news was a truth. ‘Steve Jobs Dies at the Age of 56.’ I start seeing people posting out in the words Rest in Peace on Facebook. By that, I know, it’s a grieved fact.I went through the news on internet for more details cuz I couldn’t accept it. The fact is so painful to me until now 2 days after Jobs’ death. I was once in this sadness before for the Pop Star Michael Jackson death.
And now this is the second I felt so sorry to the people that didn't recognize me at all. Just because of they are Idols, that’s it.Perhaps I should say this is all predictable. We were not hard to see some news about Jobs’ illness. He was getting skinnier and skinnier by day to day. Just I never realized it came to fast.

I think I should stop posting this with my lousy English. I just wanna show my grateful and respect and love to my beloved Mr. Steve Jobs. Thank you for changing the world,
Thank You for everything you made for the world.

第三话

“叮叮叮” 那烦人的警报声仍然响着，把正昏睡中的刚古叫醒了。当他睁开眼睛那一刹那，他感觉到了熟悉的光芒，还有似曾相识的空气。

他赶紧从自己的睡床上跳下，在飞船的小窗口望出去。窗外的景象似乎给刚古打了几秒的镇定剂。刚古全身僵硬地站在小窗口旁，他根本无法相信他现在看到的这一切。

“对！那是阳光！曾经那照耀大地，给予为暖的阳光！这是地球！我们着陆了！我们到家了”

刚古高兴地呼喊着。他那兴奋的呼叫声顿时把其他三名的飞行员给叫醒了。对，那的确是希望的号叫，象征着奇迹的降临！他们感到有一种被重生的感觉，就像是在地狱呆太久的饿鬼们被释放后的快感与喜乐。他们着陆的地方，看起来是一片荒芜的沙漠，不过这里的气流量非常大且通顺，气温非常好，大约在二十摄氏度上下，根本就不像是沙漠的样子。眼前一片是只是蓝蓝的天空和好像没有尽头的大地。天空上没有飞翔的鸟儿，陆地上没有植物的生长，这根本就是个死城。

“我的天，我不能相信这一切，天空和大地还是那么地美丽。不，应该是说比以前更美了！” 尼娜把双手举得高高地说着。

“但是你们有发现人类或其他生物吗？” 罗根皱着眉头，头向四处去仰望地问着。“这点就怪了，人类呢？等等，让我确认我们在卫星系统上的位置。”

刚古把微型的卫星图拿了出来。“断线”卫星图上显示的不多，就只有断线这两个让人摸不出头绪的字眼。

“看来我们应该步行了。” 说完，多丽走向飞行船里，拿出了万能箱。万能箱就像是一个升级版的医药箱，它提供人类所有需求的紧急配备。里头装的有五天的干粮和水，镭射枪，药物等，在各个紧急状况必定派上用场。

就这样，四人就决定去开掘这安静的地球。人类究竟到了哪里，花草树木呢？他们永远不知道，更令人惊险的答案正在等着他们去探索。
