What's Happening?

Hi all, sorry I've been so silent for the past couple of weeks - I'm posting even less than I had intended to. But I've been in NC, visiting family, and an internet connection has been very hard to come by. Right now I'm standing on one leg, in the corner of my bedroom, with a lightbulb in my ass and a finger in my ear trying to swipe a connection from the house next door.

So as you can imagine, I've had work stuff to keep up on that took precedence with my all-too-dear internet connectivity.

Anyway, I should be back to civilization on Friday and the irregular posting you've come to know and hate should be back to just that - irregular.

And while I'm at it, I guess I should fill everyone in on what's prompted this major shift in my posting habits. Back in June, my partner of 13 years and I decided to split up. It was a very tough decision for both of us, but in the end I think it was the right thing to do. Needless to say, it's been a tough few weeks as I adjust to my new reality, and finding the energy for a daily post has been impossible. And honestly, the breakup kind of launched me into a completely different personal space - so I'm not sure I'll ever get back to a daily.

But I enjoy posting the occasional thing (including the random hot guy!), so I'll probably keep that up. So, if you're so inclined, add me to your favorite RSS reader and you'll be notified when something (not) interesting happens here.

The Herndon Climb!

Update on me...

Well, as some of you have gathered, things have changed around here. And I apologize for my continued absences. But I've had some fairly major upheavals in my life and right now I just can't continue on the way I was.

Perhaps at some point in the future I'll be able to bring back the Daily Slap, but I can't promise a specific date. I will continue to post various things here and there, but it really can't be anything regular - just when the mood strikes me.

Sorry to be so cryptic, but I'm just not ready to discuss what's going on in public yet - it's still too new.

I appreciate those of you who continue to visit on occasion, and I certainly understand if you choose not to. Regardless, the best way to keep up with the foolishness I will continue to post is with your favorite RSS news reader. Personally I like Bloglines, but your mileage may vary.

So if you feel like it, add me to your news feeds and see the occasional post about a Lego Death Star or a hot Aussie TV star. And maybe I'll be able to bring the Slap back some day. And at some point I'll explain what's going on. I've gotten enough support from you guys - and I don't even know you! - so I feel like I owe you an explanation eventually.

Zach was kind enough to forward a link to some of the first photos of gay marriage in California.

But what did I see when I clicked on the link? This:

AUGH!!! How is it that Gloria Allred shows her face every-fucking-where?? That woman is the ultimate leech. I am so fucking SICK OF HER!! I don't know what part she played in getting the CA supreme court to overturn the ban on gay marriage - I can only assume that she was one of the attorneys for the plaintiffs. And for that I thank her.

But she still drives me up a fucking wall.

Where Am I?

I have to apologize again for being AWOL for so long, but I've had some very difficult personal issues come up recently and I just haven't had the energy to post anything. I've been able to keep up with work, but I just don't have the mental bandwidth for anything more right now.

To be perfectly honest, there are things I've wanted to post, but since they didn't fit the format of "The Daily Slap" I have resisted. Perhaps, however, that wasn't the best decision. So as of now, "The Daily Slap" will be "The Irregular Slap" for the forseeable future.

This way I hope to give myself permission to post more than I have been without the pressure of doing so daily. I know that sounds strange, but whatever gets you through...

So with that said, I'll have something cute and fun to post later today, but right now I'm being beckoned to Starbucks.

I know posting has been kind of sporadic lately - and there are a number of good reasons for that which I really can't share here.

But for the next couple of days, it's going to be even more sporadic - and I can share why. I'm going to St. Maarten for my cousin's 50th birthday party. I'm hoping (of course!) to have internet access while there, but I don't know yet. So if I have access, it's very likely I'll post at least something. If not, just look for me on the beach...
