Who are you?

Our Names are Allison and Megan and we are the co-owners and founder’s of ‘The Little Sparrow’ a fair,ethical and FUN children’s label.I am mum who has always been passionate about social justice and human rights and has travelled to Zimbabwe to work with HIV/AIDS affected orphans and America to work in a Summer Camp for economically and socially disadvantaged youth. Megan has worked in the childrens fashion industry and has studied fashion and textiles both locally at RMIT University and abroad at FIT in New York. She is passionate about international trade being ethical, and used as a tool for sustainable, economic development.

What do you do?

A lot of designing,travelling,markets and dreaming! We both work in all area’s of ‘The Little Sparrow’, so as you can imagine we wear alot of hats! We are working to create an ethical children’s brand that will Empower producers,raise awareness about poverty and exploitation and causing change! we want to be able to provide a sustainable ongoing business relationship and access for these skilled artisans to a wider market.Working along side groups that are using their unique skills and knowledge to provide a practical solution to the needs in their own communities. And of course, provide our customers with beautifully handmade one off pieces that are fair,ethical and FUN!

What makes you happy?

Fair Trade,dancing with my son,chocolate,sunny days,the smiles we see when we visit our producer groups in India, Bangladesh and Nepal,seeing little people playing with our toys and enjoying them- knowing that we are making small changes that in turn make a huge difference in peoples lives!

My dream is…

To help break the cycle of poverty and exploitation through The Little Sparrow and in turn add to the reduction of human trafficking taking place within vulnerable communities throughout the world.
