All across America, even today, millions of Americans are hard at work. They’re running the mom and pop stores and neighborhood restaurants we know and love. They’re building tiny startups with bid ideas that could revolutionize an industry, maybe even transform our economy. They are the more than half of all Americans who work at a small business, or own a small business. And they embody the spirit of possibility, the relentless work ethic, and the hope for something better that’s at the heart of the American Dream.

They also represent a segment of our economy that has been hard hit by this recession. Over the past couple of years, small businesses have lost hundreds of thousands of jobs. Many have struggled to get the loans they need to finance their inventories and make payroll. Many entrepreneurs can’t get financing to start a small business in the first place. And many more are discouraged from even trying because of the crushing costs of health care — costs that have forced too many small businesses to cut benefits, shed jobs, or shut their doors for good.

Small Businesses have always been the engine of our economy, creating 65% of all new jobs over the past decade and a half, and they must be at the forefront of our recovery. That’s why the Recovery Act was designed to help small businesses expand and create jobs. It’s provided $5 billion worth of tax relief, as well as temporarily reducing or eliminating fees on SBA loans and guaranteeing some of these loans up to 90%, which has supported nearly $13 billion in new lending to more than 33,000 businesses.

In addition, our health reform plan will allow small businesses to buy insurance for their employees through an insurance exchange, which many offer better coverage at lower costs; and we’ll provide tax credits for those that choose to do so. This past week, President Obama called on Congress to increase the maximum size of various SBA Loans, so that more small business owners can set up shop and grow their operations. President Obama has also announced that the federal government will be taking additional steps through the Financial Stability plan to make more credit available to the small local and community banks that so many small businesses depend on. The banks who know their borrowers, who gave them their first loan and watched them grow.

The goal here is to get credit where it’s needed the most. Businesses that support families, sustain communities, and create the jobs that power our economy are the businesses that need the credit the most. That’s why President Obama has enacted the Financial Stability plan in the first place, back when many of our largest banks were on the verge of collapse; our credit markets were frozen; and it was nearly impossible for ordinary people to get loans to buy a car or home or pay for college. The idea was to jumpstart lending and keep our economy from spiraling into a depression.

Fortunately, it worked. Thanks to the American Tax payers, we have now achieved the stability we need to get our economy moving forward again. But while credit may be more available for large businesses, too many small business owners are still struggling to get the credit they need.

These are the very taxpayers who stood by America’s banks in a crisis. And now it’s time for our banks to stand by creditworthy small businesses, and make the loans they need open their doors, grow their operations, and create new jobs. It’s time for those banks to fulfill their responsibility to help ensure a wider recovery, a more secure system, and a more broadly shared prosperity. President Obama is prepared to take every appropriate step to encourage them to meet those responsibilities. Because if it’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that here in America, we rise and fall together.

Our economy as a whole can’t move ahead if small businesses and the middle class continue to fall behind. This country was built by dreamers. They’re the workers who took a chance on their desire to be their own boss. The part time inventors who became the full time entrepreneurs. The men and women who have helped build the American middle class, keeping alive that most American of ideals — that all things are possible for all people, and we’re limited only by the size of our dreams and our willingness to work for them.

We need to do everything we can to ensure that they can keep taking those risks, acting on those dreams, and building the enterprises that fuel our economy and make us who we are.

Obama Small Lending Business A New Initiative

Some of the biggest innovations and corporations in the world started as small businesses. For example — Hewlett-Packard started in a garage, Google began as a research project, and McDonald’s started with just one store. Over the past decade and a half, America’s small businesses have created 65 percent of all new jobs in the country. And more than half of all Americans working in the private sector are either employed by a small business or own one.

Small businesses are the engine of job growth in America. Small businesses fuel our prosperity. And that’s why they have to be at the forefront of our recovery. One problem for small businesses is that they have been the hardest hit by this current recession.

From the middle of 2007 through the end of 2008, small businesses lost 2.4 million jobs. And because banks shrunk from lending in the mist of the financial crisis, it’s been difficult for entrepreneurs to take out the loans they need to start a small business.

For those who already own an existing small business, it’s been difficult to finance inventories and make payroll, or expand if things are going well.

The Recovery Act is now focused on helping small businesses expand and create jobs. In it, you will find that the fees on SBA loans have been reduced or eliminated altogether. SBA loans are loans (lending programs) that give small businesses more money to reinvest in their own futures. SBA loans are typically guaranteed up to 90 percent by the federal government. These lending programs offered by the SBA gives local banks and credit unions the confidence they need to lend.

Within the last eight months, Recovery Act steps have made a real difference for small businesses across America. So far, the Recovery Act has supported over 33,000 loans to small businesses that have already helped save or create nearly tens of thousands of jobs — nearly $13 billion in new lending to small businesses.

More than 1.200 banks and credit unions that had stopped issuing SBA loans (lending money to small businesses) are lending again today. And more than $4.3 billion in federal contracts are now going to small businesses.

Within the Recovery Act is tax relief. Small businesses under the Recovery Act will receive over $5 billion in tax relief this year.

There is no question that the Recovery Act has given a boost to every American who works at a small business, or owns one, or aspires to … There is no question that the steps the Recovery Act has taken has improved the overall climate for small businesses across the country.

The Government Is The New GreenGov

According to the President, This is extraordinarily important. We all know that the United States government is one of the largest, if not the largest consumer of energy. So the new GreenGov want to set a good example.

On October the 5th, the President signed an Executive Order on federal sustainability. This is an opportunity for the federal government to show leadership on building a clean energy economy through the way they operate.

The President believes, with this Executive Order the new GreenGov is going to be making sure that each agencies are meeting some very aggressive 2020 green standards.

The size and scale of the federal government means the new GreenGov can drive innovation, create markets, and help to build great American businesses. It also means the new GreenGov can help make its own communities more sustainable.

The Government is Taking a New Name — GreenGov

The latest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize is President Obama. But the Nobel Peace Prize has been around for years. President Obama is the third sitting President to win the Noble Peace Prize. President Theordore Roosevelt won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906, President Woodrow Wilson won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1919, and President Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

The History Of The Nobel Peace Prize

There are over 107 Nobel Peace Prize winners around the world. The Nobel Peace Prize is named after Alfred Nobel who died in 1896. Alfre Nobel was a wealth man who left a will desinating money for prize (one prize is the peace prize). Since, 1901 the Nobel Peace Prize has been given to a person who has done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations.

There are four bidding cities and President Obama is hoping that Chicago gets the gold. The four remaining cities bidding for the honor of hosting the 2016 Olympics are:

USA Chicago

Japan Tokyo

Brazil Rio De Janeiro

Spain Madrid

2016 Olympics Decision

Two cities are pushing forward as the hot favorites to host the 2016 Olympics, Chicago and Rio De Janeiro. Obama is making a pitch for Chicago by going Copenhagen. This is the first time a sitting President has made such a move.

Recovery Act Is Creating Jobs

Earlier this year President Obama announced $5 billion would go to medical research projects. These projects are creating jobs, and it’s all proof that the Recovery Act is working.

When the Recovery Act was announced, and we learned that NIH (National Institutes of Health) was going to receive over two years — $10 billion to spend on advanced medical research, the NIH started very quickly putting into place new programs for investigators to send in their most innovative ideas. The NIH guessed that — 50 thousand jobs would be created out of this circumstance.

On top of that, all of the money that goes into NIH multiplies itself, because thoseinvestigators need supplies and equipment which come from many business right here in the United States. Therefore, within one year, $1 of NIH funding is actually creating more than $2 worth of economic goods and services for the overall economy.

Johns Hopkins health system actually hired about 55 thousand from the state of Maryland, and the school of medicine actually has 13 thousand employees. Since the increase, Johns Hopkins has hosted several job fair to brace for the new influx of talent (meaning new careers are being created). Because of the investment — the Recovery Act, Johns Hopkins has been able to apply new knowledge, employees, and innovations to their research.

Creating Jobs With Recovery Act Funds

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5xgGR-uGsc

We are at a unique moment in terms of scientific job opportunities. A number of things have happened in the last three or four years to make advances in cancer, heart disease, diabetes, mental illness, and other long term illnesses. The Recovery Act provided opportunities at just the right moment.

Health Insurance Pushing Forward With Health Care Reform

The Obama Health Insurance Plan - Here are the details that every American needs to know about the Health Insurance Plan. First, if you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have. Under this plan, it will be against the law for insurance companies to deny you coverage because of a pre-existing condition. as soon as the president signs the Health Care Reform Bill, it will be against the law for insurance companies to drop your coverage when you get sick or water it down when you need it the most. Insurance companies will no longer be able to place some arbitrary cap on the amount of coverage you can receive in a given year or in a lifetime.

The Health Care Reform Act will place a limit on how much you can be charged for out-of-pocket expenses, because in the United States of America, no one should go broke because they get sick. And insurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies — because there is no reason we shouldn’t be catching diseases like breast cancer and colon cancer before they get worse.

If you lose your job or you change your job, you’ll be able to get coverage. If you strike out on your own and start a small business, you’ll be able to get coverage. Under the Health Care Reform Act a new health exchange will be created — a marketplace where individuals and small businesses will be able to shop for health insurance at competitive prices. For those individuals and small businesses who still can’t afford the lower-priced insurance available in the exchange, we’ll provide tax credits, the size of which will be based on your need. for those Americans who can’t get insurance today because they have pre-existing medical conditions, we will immediately offer low-cost coverage that will protect you against financial ruin if you become seriously ill.

This was a good idea when Senator John McCain proposed it in the campaign, it’s a good idea now, and we should all embrace it. But an additional step we can take to keep insurance companies honest is by making a not-for-profit public option available in the insurance exchange. It would only be an option for those who don’t have insurance. No one would be forced to choose it and would also keep pressure on private insurers to keep their policies affordable and treat their customers better. The President will not sign a Health Care Reform bill that adds one dime to America’s deficits — either now or in the future.

The President and his administration have estimated that most of the Health Care Reform Act can be paid for by finding savings within the existing health care system, a system that is currently full of waste and abuse. The only thing this plan would eliminate is the hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and fraud, as well as unwarranted subsidies in Medicare that go to insurance companies. The President will be creating a new “Independent Commission” of doctors and medical experts charged with identifying more waste in the years ahead.

These steps will ensure that the American people and America’s seniors get the benefits you’ve been promised. and we can use some of the saving to fill the gap in coverage that forces too many senior to pay thousands of dollars a year out of their own pockets for prescription drugs.

Many Republicans have long insisted that reforming our medical malpractice laws can help bring down the cost of health care. The Bush Administration considered authorizing demonstration projects in individual states to test these ideas. President Obama thinks that’s a good idea, and is directing the Secretary of Health and Human Services to move forward on this initiative.

The time for bickering is over. The time for games has passed. Now is the season for action. now is when we must bring the best ideas of both parties together, and show the American people that we can still do what we were sent here to do. Now is the time to deliver on Health Care.
