I’ve been wearing glasses for 30 years, and in that time I’ve seen the world of specs change beyond recognition. We have gone from having to choose from a limited range of unflattering styles, to being positively spolit for choice. Many designers offer a variety of prescription frames, and even people who don’t need glasses wear them. The book has large sections on the importance of self confidence, and also discusses nutrition, workouts, make up, and clothes. Sounds okay, right? Well, it’s not a bad attempt. The book will certainly tell you alot about Tyra, and her own personal experiences, which can help if you are going through something similar, and even includes pictures of Tara proving that she isn’t perfect. But there’s just something a little amiss…

2. How To Be Famous: Our Guide To Looking The Part and Becoming A Tabloid Fixture

Heidi and Spence share their tabloid knowledge, including how to sell your wedding photos, and the benefits of cosmetic surgery…and to be honest, it is the funniest book I’ve ever read. What makes it so funny? The fact that it’s written so seriously. Speidi have really thought out their media campaign, and by reading their book, you can try it out for yourself. Just don’t expect much…I think mine will be used as a door stop.

3. I Do – Achieving Your Dream Wedding

I love Jess…she’s always seemed so wholesome, and her and Nick seemed like a fairytale couple. And really, this book is okay…it’s romantic, and has some great tips for getting your wedding exactly as you want it (or like theirs). There’s even expert advice from Jess’s hairdresser, florist and Vera Wang! The problem? Jess and Nick split up a while ago, and it seems unlucky to use a divorcee’s guide to plan your own wedding. Still, there could always be a sequel?

4. How To Lose Your Ass And Regain Your Life

Price: $14 at amazon.co.uk
Do you remember Kirstie Alley, from Cheers? Well, this is her autobiography, mixed with diet book. The problem is, although it has some useful tips hidden away in random places, it’s disjointed. There is no real beginning or end, and although there are some hilarious parts, you won’t feel like you’ve read a self help book…it’s more like sneaking into a fat room-mates diary/food recording, and having a read. For a laugh, it’s worth the money, but for advice? I’d go elsewhere.

5. Satisfaction: The Art of The Female Orgasm

I loved Sex And The City, and Kim Cattrall, so I thought I’d see what this was about. It might be better to separate her from her character, though…man eating book it is not. It’s very vanilla, and most of the tips and tricks will be known by those with any experience. It does contain well drawn images, and the women have curves which is refreshing, but it just didn’t seem to have that spark…it’s informative, but it won’t set your bed on fire.

6. Jennifer Love Hewitt: The Day I Shot Cupid

This is one of the those books that seems to draw a lot of opinions…Jen shares her experiences with love and heart break, and tries to teach us to lose our expectation of the perfect man along the way. Some of it is hilarious, and a lot of it will make you see Jen in a whole new light…but as for self help…well. I found it quite hard to relate to her advice, especially as I thought a lot of what she said was just plain wrong. Ignore the settling-for-second-best advice, and stick to Jen’s own tales. It makes a good autobiography, at least.

7. Alicia Silverstone: The Kind Diet

Price: $20 at amazon.co.uk
Alicia’s book sold huge numbers of these books after appearing on Oprah, but many of them felt short changed. While the book does show a new diet, that fits Alicia’s vegan lifestyle, it is full of PETA propaganda to a certain extent. There are some delicious recipes, and for the most part it isn’t judgemental, but it does clearly list the problems that eating meat and animal products causes, such as heart disease. Alicia keeps a steady tone and writes a good book, but most people would prefer it without the bias.

I guess it’s to be expected with celebrity writers…being a little self obsessed has to come with the job, and this can come across as pushy and judgemental when written down. But still, if you are looking for a self help book, look to the experts, and if you want a laugh, grab a celebrity book. You’ll get better results that way! Have you read a celebrity self help book? There’s only one reason that I’´ll put my jeans away, and that’s when it gets too hot to wear them. For the rest of the year, I live in them (no, not the same pair …). Jeans are immensely popular for a very good reason – well, for several very good reasons. Here are eight of them – and I’m sure you can think of more!

1. Versatile Style

There are so many ways of wearing jeans. Match them with a simple t-shirt for a lazy day, a smart top for a night out, a jumper, shirt, jacket … There are very few items that won’t go with jeans.

Do you like worn, black, dark or “regular denim? Jeans are available in so many shades and colors, even brights if you like them. Stonewashed jeans, however, are an abomination that should be banished to the 80’s where they belong. Never be tempted. Although I’m sure you all have far too much taste.

Most of us have that pair of wonderful worn jeans in our wardrobe that we pull out whenever we need something comfortable. If you’re feeling down or unwell, or you just want to have a lazy day, that pair of jeans you’ve had forever are just so nice to wear.

Tattoos… they are painful and permanent and still, everyone seems to want one. I myself have two and plan to get at least three more. But, since I went and got one in a very painful place with absolutely no warning, I thought I would look up the most painful places to get a tattoo so I could avoid making the same mistake twice…

1. Spine

Ouch and more ouch! Your spine is made up of 26 bones, 24 of them go from your neck to the base of your bum and each tattoo that you get along them will hurt. The spine is the most painful place to get a tattoo. I say just move a little to the left or right and just avoid all of the pain.

2. Hip

This is where I got my second tattoo and that’s probably the reason that I’ve waited so long to get this next one. The closer you are to touching any bone in your hip, the more pain you’re going to be in. But if you think the end result is worth it then go for it!

3. Ankle

Avoid your ankle bone at all costs! Everyone that I speak to that has a tattoo on their ankle told me to avoid that bone no matter what. Go around it, go on top of it or below it but never, ever get tattooed right on the bone of your ankle.

4. Foot

Although this isn’t the most fun place to get a tattoo as long as you avoid toes and the bones on top of your feet you’ll be alright. Just make sure to go on the side of your foot near your heel or by your arch.

5. Elbow

Your elbow is basically skin and bone. There isn’t really any cushion to keep that vibrating feeling of the needle away from your bone and so, I’m going to have to say unless you REALLY want your elbows tattooed, go for another spot.

6. Knee

The knees, just like the elbows are all skin and bone with no cushion. If you want a leg tattoo that isn’t going to hurt that badly go for the thigh where you have a little bit more fat and tissue and your bone is a little further from the surface.

7. Clavicle

The most easily broken bone in the body is also one of the most painful places to get a tattoo. The closer you get to the two bones on either side of your neck, the more pain you’re likely to be in.

Alright ladies, this is the list of the most painful places to get a tattoo. Just remember that the closer you get to bone with no fat, the more pain you’ll be in. So go for a nice forearm or thigh! And remember a tattoo is pretty permanent unless you want to spend a fortune getting it removed so be sure of what you want and where you want it! And while it should be reassuring that it’s clearly nothing to do with us, or any lacking on our part, instead it feels like cheating is everywhere. Tiger and Elin always seemed very together, so when it emerged Tiger had been having an affair, it was shocking news to say the least. Tiger eventually made a public speech declaring this as untrue, and apologizing to his wife and family for his behaviour. He then took a sabbatical from golf to spend time making it up to her, and despite reports that she was consulting a divorce lawyer, they were spotted looking loved up at recent golf tournaments. Elin also has a modeling career, which is going from strength to strength.

3. Jennifer Aniston

Who could forget Brad’s affair? While filming “Mr. And Mrs. Smith,” the media went wild with reports that Brad and Ang had gotten very close, but Jennifer and Brad were Hollywood’s dream couple, and no one could imagine them splitting up. So when the news broke that Brad had left Jen, most people couldn’t believe their ears. Jen has gone from strength to strength, though, and has been in many successful films and dated some of the hottest men in Hollywood.

4. Reese Witherspoon

America’s Sweetheart seemed to have the perfect family when she married Ryan Phillippe and had two beautiful children with him, but it wasn’t enough to stop him from bedding a co-star. Hurley has had a successful modelling career since then, being the face of Estee Lauder, and the godmother of the Beckham’s children!

Being one of the sexiest women in the World hasn’t helped Halle, who has been married twice. She married Eric Benet in 2001, after meeting him in 1997, and adopted his daughter India. The couple split in 2005, with Eric blaming his infidelities on a sex addiction. It hasn’t stopped Halle, though, who campaigns for a domestic violence charity, and has a daughter.

8. Sophia Bush

Sophia and co-star Chad Micheal Murray seemed to be a match made in heaven when they met on the set of One Tree Hill, in 2003. I’m glad I wasn’t on set with them afterwards… Sophia has gone from strength to strength, though, starring in “The Hitcher,” “John Tucker Must Die,” and “The Narrows.”

Uma’s personal life became very public when her husband admitted to sleeping with their babysitter, and male babysitters became much more popular as a result! They appeared to be a faultless couple until 2008, when Cook admitted to sleeping with an 18-year-old he met at a toy store, and to an internet porn addiction. The divorce case was well documented, with Brinkley giving Cook $2.1 million dollars in exchange for 18 properties and custody of their two children. She now does a lot of work for charity, and recently received a “Mother Of The Year” award.

While these stories aren’t feel-good, they serve as a helpful reminder that cheating doesn’t have to be the end. Whether you can forgive or not, life always gets better, and you could even find yourself more successful afterwards! They also show that cheating has no reflection on the victim, and only demonstrates a fault with the cheater, which its important to remember if you’ve recently found out you’ve been cheated on. 3. Jessica Alba in Chanel

Of course, no one…not even Jessica Alba gets it right every time. I do love that Chanel dress but paired with that red belt and the black shoes (It doesn’t matter that they are Louboutins) and that hair-do (or lack of it) make me go why Alba why?!

My verdict: I guess everyone’s allowed one faux pas.

4. Elizabeth Hurley

Elizabeth wore a gorgeous Versace gown to to Elton John’s annual White Tie and Tiara Ball with her trademark thigh high split and excessive cleavage. Is this where Blake Lively gets her inspiration from?

My verdict: I’m not saying Liz doesn’t look gorgeous but no one likes a one trick pony.

5. Natalia Vodianova

Sometimes the romantic deep inside me can’t help but fall in love with ruffles. In fact, the more the merrier! I think Natalia looks absolutely stunning in this strapless nude Valentino mini dress. The only thing I’d probably change are those shoes. They’re just a little boring, don’t you think?

My verdict: As my sister would type, “<3 <3 <3!”

6. Ashley Greene in Azzaro

I have been following Ashley Greene’s looks for a while and she almost always seems to go for something too old for her. Case in point: this full sleeved Azzaro Pre-Fall 2010 dress that she wore to the Belgium premiere of  The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. You’re 23 Ashley and you have a long way before you need to resort to matronly dresses like this. Stick to younger looks please?

My verdict: Ashley Greene and Liz Hurley should exchange dresses.

7. Ashley Greene in Michael Kors

Case in point 2: This Michael Kors look she sported at a photocall in Madrid. What makes it worse is that hideous hairstyle!

My verdict: Fire your stylist. Also send your hairstylist back to whatever era he/she came from.

8. Bryce Dallas Howard

I’m so excited about watching Bryce in the newest installment of the Twilight series. Something tells me she’s going to be fabulously evil in the movie….almost as fabulous as she looks in this Christian Dior lemon gown at the premiere at L.A. And I’m not even a fan of yellow!

My verdict: Red hair+ gorgeous yellow gown= divine!

9. Marion Cotillard

Is that a bed sheet, a curtain or just one heck of a fugly dress? Actually it could serve as any of the three but at the premiere of Inception in London, Marion chose to wear it as a dress with even uglier shoes.

My verdict: Excuse me while I try to erase this from my memory forever.

10. Megan Fox

When I first saw Megan in this custom made Armani Privé red silk charmeuse cocktail mini dress at the premiere of Jonah Hex, I thought she looked spectacular! The dramatic red against the pale white of her skin creates a delicious combination that is hard not to like. But the more I stared, the more I realized that perhaps the makeup is a bit much, no?

My verdict: Go easy on the makeup hun. You are far too pretty to need all those layers of makeup. Besides, it’s going to do little to hide/change the words that end up coming out of your mouth.

11. Jared Leto

I almost did not recognize Jared in this “Back to the future” kind of look at the Dior fashion show in Paris. Although there is a certain fierceness to this trench, baggy jeans, moon boots and fauxhawk look, I really miss my old Jared with jet black hair, eyeliner and mysterious, dark  brooding eyes.

My verdict: I don’t care what the world says. I want my old Jared back!

12. Robert Pattinson

Surprise Surprise! Guess who finally managed to evoke a lustful gawk from me. None other than Rob Pattinson aka annoying Vampire Boy himself! He showered, shaved and looked absolutely delicious in this maroon Gucci suit at the L.A premiere of The Eclipse. Taylor who?

My verdict: He cleans up GOOD!

13. Leighton Meester in Chanel

I love me some Leighton but I really want to know what she was thinking wearing this Chanel long-sleeved leather dress. With the current heat wave in Paris, it looks downright uncomfortable and super duper hot (for all the wrong reasons).

My verdict: Again, everyone is allowed one faux pas.

14. Leighton Meester in Oscar de la Renta

Spotted. Queen B in a gaspworthy, GORGEOUS Oscar de la Renta Vermillion Silk Organza gown while filming Gossip Girl in Paris. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a dress this divine and believe me when I say I’d kill for it. Of course, no one can do it as much justice as our darling Blair me thinks.

My verdict: I’m too busy falling in love to give a verdict on this one. Go away. Shoo!

My favorite look has to be Leighton Meester’s Oscar de la Renta dress. Can’t wait to see how gorgeous it looks onscreen! And my least favorite has to be Marion Cotillard’s curtain dress.
