He planned to launch a business of discount coupons in india with his friend Rohit Bansal, an alumnus of IIT Delhi. He says that the initial days were quite disappointing but then some retailers began to contact him and that boosted his confidence. With this Snapdeal was created in Feb 2010 which sucked at first. Kunal says that they made a lot of mistakes but the best part was that they learned from their mistakes and kept tracking their customers behavior and preferences. Belonging to a middle class family, he dropped his CA Studies to launch JustDial. The idea to start JustDial came in mani's mind when he was working in UDI (United database India) in 1987. He thought that if this database of valuable information could be made available through phone and through web, it will prove to be very helpful for users. Luckily, he came to know of the number 088 888 88 888, which he thought would be very easy to remember. After all this preparation, the company could still not be started because he did not had enough money to buy a telephone. Telephone connection at that time cost Rs 15,000. Oh yes, you heard it, fifteen thousand rupees. The company got started in 1996 and since then it's only marching forward. In 2007, he started online database portal which gave Justdial the wings to fly. Balram Halwai, makes his way from his lower caste into the 'light' by immoral and corrupt means. He changes his sweet makers caste to an entrepreneur which in the fast developing country is the 'tomorrow'. The protagonist is cynical, corrupt, killer yet he is deeply endearing. Amazing book.

Adiga says the novel "attempts to catch the voice of the men you meet as you travel through India - the voice of the colossal underclass."

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">A Suitable Boy
by Vikram Seth
1993

Set in post independence, the novel follows the effort of the mother (Rupa Mehra) to find a suitable boy for her daughter (Lata). In the era of new freedom and independence there is a love story which has to go through a committed mother and an opinionated brother. Lata is forced to select among three suitors, Haresh, Kabir and Amit. The novel is not totally based on marriage and love, it goes through issues like Muslim-Hindu marriage and Land Reforms. It is the story of common people caught in web of love, wisdom and ambition.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The Shadow Lines
by Amitav Gosh
1998

This indian novel was part of my academics and i loved it. Amitav Ghosh tries to tell us that how boundaries limit and affect our imaginations. The narrators unfolds the story in bits and pieces from his memory. He adores Tridib because he has a lot of knowledge. The narrator, a young boy, likes imagining what tridib tells him about different places and events. He wants to live by his imagination. He loves Ila from his childhood but is afraid to tell her. The novels shifts from childhood days to adult and back to childhood without any pause and clue. Amazing novel to read.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">2 States: The Story of My Marriage
by Chetan Bhagat
2009

Two couples studying at IIM are deeply in love and want to get married. It has it's impact on people even in this modern era. Here's the list of ghost places found in one of the most diverse country, India.

1 . Bhangarh - Rajasthan

In 17th century, Madho Singh built his capital in bhangarh with the sanction of an ascetic Baba Balanath, who used to meditate on that place. He predicted that : "Look my dear chap! The moment the shadow of your palace touches me, you are undone. The city shall be no more!" In ignorance he raised the top of that palace to a height that the shadow reached the Baba Balanath's place.
After this, all the town inhabitants died and the prediction - that none of the houses would have roofs over them became true. You can see that none of the ancient houses had roofs other than the temples. People say that nobody returned who stayed there after dark.

Near all ancient monuments in India there is an office of Archaeology Survey of India but even Government authorities have not opened an office near it due to the ghost place and their office is about one kilometer away from the ruins of Bhangarh. And the sign board says "Staying after sunset is strictly prohibited in this area."

2 . The food that is left in the rooms gets scattered and strange marks are left upon the mirror in some urdu like script. Women are more troubled by the ghosts of dead soldiers more than the mens. They trouble the girls even more, they tear their clothes, knock on the bathroom doors while the outside doors are locked.

3 .
