Before I discuss archive.org, let me share to you a brief history on how www.bestonlinebusinessguide.net was born. Well, aside from the "About Me" page where some detailed information about me and my online business journey can be seen, the story behind this site's existence was never shared into this site just yet.

I started to blog after my disappointments in website building business. I even had my own affiliate program which is also defunct due to my ignorance in Internet marketing before. So I started to blog using the Blogger platform and my first niche was in the "make money online" industry, just like this site.

I am having a great time blogging which I also found to be profitable than just doing worthless sites. I started to accumulate my knowledge about pay-per-click ads, search engine optimization, Internet marketing techniques and other tips on how to earn money in the Internet. The domain was www.thebestonlinebusinessguide.com.

Then in November 2010, Blogger team deleted my blog for the reason of spamming. I tried and made an appeal several times but its all useless. This is the main reason why I always recommend WordPress platform that can be seen in most of my articles and blog posts here - to have a secure and dependable blog. But despite the loss, I never hated Blogger and I am still using it on some of my blogs including my personal blogsite.

I lost everything including my marketing efforts and of course my blog posts. That same month, I created this site as a continuation of my lost blog. As you may notice, the two sites have identical domain names.

Fortunately, I discovered archive.org which is like a storage facilities for websites and blogs. I found a way to actually dug my defunct blog out of extinction and have the opportunity to present to you its content. What is Archive.org?

So what is archive.org? This site is all about "archiving" every Internet sites as much as possible, just like a big server or library of sites. So you will now have the opportunity to see your previous sites (either defunct or abandoned) even if its not live anymore in the Internet.

Through the link that I gave you earlier, I was able to visit and grab my lost content on my defunct blog. I am bound to write this post because one of my websites (weight loss site) was recently attacked by hackers. Although it was my first time to experience a hacking incident, I am not really furious about it as I don't intend to continue that particular site anymore. I already built a new WordPress weight loss blog and the hacked site is now useless to me, and besides, its domain and hosting will expire this month! So who got owned?

Anyway, some of you may say that I never cared about my hacked site, letting it slipped away like that. Well that is not really true. I love all of my sites and I am doing everything to make each one a successful online business. The hacked site was actually an affiliate site which I already transferred into my new WordPress blog.

After it was hacked, I made a concrete research on why hackers easily penetrated my site. Information such as DNS records of my site and on the web, the software and hardware structure, capabilities, back-end systems and many other vulnerabilities are all crucial elements on how a hacker can plan its attack on its target site.

Any information which the hackers can use to infiltrate a website is crucial to their success so you better have your securities in check all the time. An opportunity to hack your site can be a disaster to your online business investments.

Keep your personal computer virus free

This is not really necessary to list here but I want to make sure that my novice readers will know the importance of having a virus free computer. Similar to a web attack, having your pc with tons of trojans, viruses, keyloggers, etc., is a big opportunity for hackers to invade your site.

Tighten up your forms

Every corner of your site must be secured, just like your forms. A single form submission sends information to your server, and once the contents are not filtered, it might contaminate your server by placing malicious programs by hackers.

The best thing to do is to check your form program. You may ask a third party programmer to check it for you or you may ask your developer. A thorough coding is your best tool to prevent hackers to destroy your site.

Make your passwords, personal as possible

Well, this is my last tip but certainly not the least advise your will get as password hacking is the most common incident in Internet history. First off, hackers develops softwares to catch passwords across the net and if your site lacks security measures, you could be a victim.

Never tell anyone your password not even to your bestfriends. Don't share it in social medias, save it in a text file or send it to your email as this can also be hack. Make sure that you use stronger passwords with a combination of alphanumerical characters with capitalization. Also, change your passwords periodically to further strengthen your password.

Remember, hackers are continuously learning different ways to destroy a website. It could be through scripts, forms, viruses and many others. I received an email from Jordan Bass, an associate of NRelate software regarding the use of LinkWithin in one of my blogs. I am using LinkWithin on my two blogs and Jordan's email opened my eyes on the "secret" strategy that LinkWithin is heavily taking advantage from its users. If you are a blogger and you are using LinkWithin to show related posts, then you have to read carefully on what I am about to share to you.

Many blog publishers are not aware about LinkWithin's secret SEO strategy. Below is the sample LinkWithin image taken from one of my blogs. As you can see, it is a very cool plugin that is very useful.

If a user clicks on any of those images, he will be redirected to that post page hence decreasing your site's bounce rate while increasing your chances of online income. While LinkWithin is a useful widget, it does have a tricky program that steals your blog's link juice. But how?

Aside from the LinkWithin logo that can be seen below the thumbnails, the plugin has a unique way of redirecting the visitors first to the LinkWithin site, then going back to your own site's post page. If you are using LinkWithin, you can try this yourself within your post and you will see on your address bar that it will first go to LinkWithin's site before going back to your post page.

If you are convinced, then you just learned that you are being robbed of a lot of link juice. That is not the best way to treat a business partner right? You used their plugin and in return, they hurt your site specifically your traffic and SEO! Not a good idea.

Adwords

Adwords is owned by Google which is a partner program of Adsense. It is the main source of income of Google which amounts to billions of dollars in revenue last year alone. RSS feed

RSS or Really Simple Syndication is a family of web feed formats that is used to publish frequently updated works such as blog posts (blogs), news headlines, audios and videos. RSS Feed is in a standardized format that can be in full or summarized text. An RSS can also be monetized through a pay-per-click ad platform such as Adsense.

Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization is widely known for its acronym SEO. It is the process of improving your site or blog's ranking in the seach engine results, such as Google and Yahoo.

Social Media

Social Media is a web-based technologies that is focused on improving communication thru interactive dialogue between organizations, communities and individuals. Popular social media programs are Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and many others.

Text-Link Ads

Text-link ads are comprised of hypertexts which are displayed on web pages or mobile devices. Text-link ads are sponsored by an advertiser or an ad network that is being pitched into a publisher site.

Traffic Building

Traffic building is not a literal street traffic that are often seen in highways. It is a method of driving visitors into your website or blog.

Web Hosting

Web hosting is a type of Internet service that allows individuals or organizations to build their website accessible via the world wide web. Warning! Adsense Is Going Mad!

As you may already know, I am an avid follower of John Chow, a fellow blogger in this type of niche. I am reading one of his post regarding Adsense and I think it will be your best interest if you should be informed on this important information on how Adsense is becoming more unstable these days.

To give you a brief overview, Adsense is one of the premier advertising network online which is owned by search engine giant Google. Most websites and bloggers are using this network to make money online by publishing ads on their web pages. These ads can be text links, image ads, video ads or flash ads. Since its inception in the world wide web in 2003, millions of people depend on this network as one of their main monetization tool.

Since Adsense is an easy structured ad network where you can easily earn through valid clicks from your visitors, other people became much abusive, doing illegal activities to earn more money from it. This is the reason why Adsense management tightened its rules and policies and started suspending accounts for good.

While suspending accounts to those people who are confirmed applying fraudulent clicks are good business for both advertisers and publishers, the recent activities of Adsense team is quite alarming to those accounts who are abiding its policies and TOS. Today, Adsense is suspending publisher accounts not just because they do illegal clicks, but for being a potential site to generate fraudulent clicks. Weird isn't it? Yes, Adsense is going totally mad!

One case from John Chow's post is my blog partner Zac Johnson, who is a long-time publisher of Adsense since 2003. Zac has a long list of blog affiliation and one of them is www.PPC.org where I have a guest post entitled "The Differences Between Direct Advertising, Network Marketing and Affiliate Marketing". Zac had a good relationship with adsense and it suddenly ended without further justification from the Adsense team. The email below came directly from Zac through John Chow's website.

"Hello,

After reviewing our records, we’ve determined that your AdSense account poses a risk of generating invalid activity. Because we have a responsibility to protect our AdWords advertisers from inflated costs due to invalid activity, we’ve found it necessary to disable your AdSense account. Your outstanding balance and Google’s share of the revenue will both be fully refunded back to the affected advertisers.

Please understand that we need to take such steps to maintain the effectiveness of Google’s advertising system, particularly the advertiser-publisher relationship. We understand the inconvenience that this may cause you, and we thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

If you have any questions or concerns about the actions we’ve taken, how you can appeal this decision, or invalid activity in general, you can find more information by visiting www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=57153.

This is a totally surprising move from Google Adsense management. I mean, why would they ban a trusted publisher without any proof of fraudulent clicks and just pure speculation? Aside from Zac, another Internet marketer Gauher Chaudhry, had similar experience and is now banned for life on Google Adsense.

This is totally out of publishers control so if I were you, I would certainly be using alternative ad networks in case my Adsense got busted. You may try the following ad networks in replacement for Adsense.

As you can see, there are many alternatives to Adsense but of course, Adsense is the top Pay-Per-Click ad network where big time companies advertise. So aside from using a PPC, you may want to apply other ways to diversify your online income. The lesson here is not to depend on Adsense alone, but to other means of monetization. I know Zac and Gauher will still both make money online without Adsense as these two are seasoned webmasters. Adsense is truly hard to understand and is so paranoid of losing their precious advertisers, resulting to unjustified deletion of publisher's accounts. Warning! Adsense is going Mad!
