This post is about a product called TweetAdder and was inspired by a sale on Flippa.

The seller was selling their domain name tweetadderpro.com along with an affiliate account at tweetadder.com.

TweetAdder is a piece of software which automates the process of getting followers to a Twitter account. Because any message you post to Twitter is also copies to all your followers, the more followers you have the more people will see you tweets and the more powerful you can promote your product.

To quote some of the Tweet adder website:

We have devised a twitter adder software that will increase your follower count in a very short period of time. In 30 days, I received 6963 TARGETED followers and continue to do so!

I provided a screen shot of the proof of the programs effectiveness I have enjoyed in just 30 days of use. Where else can you get 6963 people reading what you post and/or following your links you suggest to them in such a short period of time without spending thousands of dollars in online marketing campaigns and then waiting for your network to slowly grow?

The business model for tweetadderpro.com is very simple. The domain is redirected to tweetadder.com and sales are credited to the sellers affiliate account.

Now the interesting bit. The site was started in 2009 and has been making over $1,100 gross per month on a consistent basis. The seller claims to have sold 672 units on their own and in addition they get the income from affiliate tier accounts.

Affiliate tier accounts work like this. If you buy a product using my affiliate link, then some-one buys through your affiliate link, I get a small payment for the sales that you make. The more people you sell to, who in turn make some sales, the more residual income you have. In this case your percentage of the sale someone else makes is 10%

The seller seems to be making money from web 2 sites (squidoo etc), a little ppc (yahoo), and mostly organic traffic from articles, bookmarkings.

At the end of the sale the site went for $9,000 which is a bit less than 12 months revenue, probably a bit lower than you’d expect as the sales look to be trending down a bit. Still a good chunk of change for a one year old affiliate site.

What I like about this affiliate program is that the underlying product appears to be quite good, genuinely helping people promote their business using Twitter. So it will appeal to lots of small businesses who wish to reach out to clients they may not have been able to contact before. It also appeals to internet marketers who ( like me) will readily part with $55 to increase their marketing reach.

And thanks to the site sale on Flippa we have as close as you can get to verifiable proof that the product sells well and the affiliate program is reliable in terms of payments to affiliates.

It is rare these days that you would find a stay-at-home mom who is not also a work-from-home mom. Few families have the luxury of being able to survive on a single salary.

The following list of jobs is great for moms who need to bring in some extra money, but who are not willing to sit in an office from 9:00-5:00 every day while their kids are in daycare and the house falls to shambles. These jobs can be done during steady business hours or can be spread sporadically throughout the day, during baby’s naptime, in between errands, and at night once the house is quiet.

1. Share your expertise and passions by writing articles.

Many companies nowadays outsource the writing of their web content to freelancers, often to people like you who work from home. It’s cheaper for them to hire you than to pay someone in-house, plus it allows them to shop around to find someone who’s truly passionate about the topic they need written.

Create a small portfolio of writing samples that you can send out to companies that are looking to hire. You may also want to check out sites like Elance, ODesk, and GetaFreelancer. Once you gain some experience, you can make quite a living freelancing—some websites will pay up to $50 per article!

Worried that you don’t know how to write? Generally, if non-writers find a topic that they have opinions on, the writing comes naturally. Plus, there’s no rule against using spell check and grammar check!

2. Build your own website.

Getting the hang of content writing? Maybe it’s time to start your own website. That way you’ll get to write about topics that genuinely interest you and you’ll get to be your own boss!

Download a free website builder, like Wordpress, take a class or two about website building, and then get straight to work writing about baby products, pet adoption, or antique furniture or whatever it is that makes your fingers want to dance along the keyboard.

How will you make money with your new website? It’s simple–acquaint yourself with the workings of affiliate links and ad displays and your set to make a quick buck (or more, hopefully).

3. Become an online assistant.

There’s no reason why you need to be in the cubicle next to your boss for you to do his dirty work, is there? Virtual assistants are quickly gaining popularity as a less expensive option to keep a secretary on-site. You can sit on your comfortable your living room couch and handle day-to-day business tasks. You’ll spend your time making travel arrangements, handling customer service calls, setting appointments, paying bills, and more.

Some virtual assistants will work for a few hours a day and some only a few hours each week. You’ll find tons of these sorts of jobs at Elance, Virtual Office Temps, Alpine Temps, and Team Double Click. Salaries run about $20 per hour.

4. Sign up to be a virtual tutor.

Usually all you need is a college degree to become a virtual tutor, though having some tutoring or teaching experience may work to your advantage. You can sign up with a tutoring agency like Transwebtutors or Tutors.com to work one-on-one with students from all over the world on general homework help, essay writing, language skills, math, English, and other subjects.

You don’t need to go with an established organization. If you’re a competent tutor, and an even more competent marketer, then you may want to consider setting up your own website using an easy website builder, like Wordpress, that advertises your skills as a professional virtual tutor.

5. Sell your photos online.

Did you know that anytime a company places a picture on its website or brochures it needs to pay for the rights to that photo? Most companies buy their graphics and photos from stock photo websites—places where you can sell your pictures for money.

Visit sites like Fotolia, BigStockPhoto, and ShutterStock to see which will give you the best deals for your pics. Upload your pictures to the sites and then anytime someone downloads your photo, you get paid! It’s that simple.

6. Clean out your garage and then sell your extra stuff on eBay, Woobly, efleaa, or Craigslist.

This may start out as a one-time job, but once you see how easy it is to make money on eBay, you’ll get hooked. You can sell things from old pieces of furniture, to used baby clothing, to other knick knacks lying around the house. Once you’ve totally de-cluttered your home, you can start looking for cheap deals to buy and then sell again for a profit. Or offer to clean out your neighbor’s garage…for a fee of course.

7. Sell some of your favorite ebooks.

You can build a website that offers some ecommerce features that enable you to buy and sell online. Buy some ebooks and sell them for profit.

8. Sign up and Become a Mystery Shopper.

Sign up to become an expert shopping reviewer at Service Intelligence, Service Excellence Group, and Shoppers View. These sites will provide you with a list of stores, businesses, and restaurants that they want you to go visit. You make your rounds, take some notes, and return to your computer to fill out a questionnaire about your shopping experience.

9. Join a Craft Community and Start Selling.

You could always sell your crafts on eBay or Craigslist, or you could join a like-minded crafting community and sell your goods to people who will be looking specifically for crafts. Etsy and Silkfair are good places to start.

10. Unleash Your Inner Guru.

Offer your skills to the people who need the expertise of a guru. Give one-on-one yoga classes, hold workshops on time management, or host webinars online about raising teenagers. You’re bound to have expert knowledge in one field or another—why not put that knowledge to use? You can also make some quick cash at LivePerson.com and JustAnswer.com answering questions and getting paid per minute.

The office is coming home. This is perhaps the greatest trend in American workplace over the last fifteen to twenty years. New technologies, plus a change in the way we, as a society, think about work, has led to many people leaving the cubicle for the freedom of the home office.

But home is not merely an extension of the office. It is a home base for many entrepreneurs who are looking to find the next great franchise opportunity. So many home-based businesses have sprouted up over the last few years, it’s hard to keep to track of them all. Luckily, there are portals like Franchise Direct, which point entrepreneurs to the best opportunities out there at the moment.

Working from home doesn’t mean being locked in your house the entire day. Often it means being out it in the world, refilling vending machines or going door to door to build up a client base. Your home is the launching pad of your business and by being based there, you free yourself from the restrictions of the office. You are your own boss and the success or failure of your franchise ultimately rests on your shoulders.

The home based franchise sector has evolved to cater to the needs of nearly every worker. From home restoration to senior care to even food businesses, you can open the home based business of your choosing. In recent years, we’ve seen more and more women drawn to working at home. By maintaining a home based business, women can look after the various needs of raising family, while still attending their business requirements.

Franchise Direct (http://www.franchisedirect.com/) recently published a home based business report which goes into much greater detail about which home based businesses are thriving at the moment. There are many demands for working at home: you must be disciplined and self-motivated. But if you have the skills to succeed in a home-based business, you will certainly find an opportunity to work for yourself. Given the on-going financial constraints of the recession, it’s great time to open your own franchise.

Internet marketing is a very large subject. I’m not a guru and I never met anyone who knew it all.

Something important to remember is that the market is always changing. To be successful you must be prepared to constantly test and try new ideas. Never take anything for granted and always look for improvement.

The purpose of the internet marketing 4p section is to provide you with a framework around which to build your online marketing plan.

Internet Marketing has similar principles, just a different delivery, to the bricks and mortar world.

One thing is very clear. Unless you proactively promote yourself and your product, your business will die.

OK. lets think this through. You have something you want to sell on the Internet. How should you go about it ?

There is an old formula with which to put a framework around your thinking. Its called the 4P’s. Here is a summary:

Product:

Make sure that your product is something that is useful to your intended customers.

Does it solve a problem or make their life better in some way?

Make sure the product actually does what it says it does (ideally you should buy it and use it yourself)

Check the quality, does it work ALL the time?

Is it packaged so that its easy for you to sell and deliver to your customer.

Is the brand recognized or is it associated with a recognizable brand ?

Is your brand consistent with your product ?

What about after sales service and follow-up

Is that guarantee really a guarantee ?

Price:

How is the product priced compared to the competition

With 2009 almost dusted, its time to start looking to the best business opportunities for 2010.

According to About.com Small Business Canada a lot of the best business opportunities are green.

With so much concern for the environment consumers are looking more closely at ways to buy their food and technology in an environmentally friendly manner.

Here is a summary of the list of best opportunities for 2010:

Green Technologies

Grants and loans abound at present to fund projects to help solve environmental problems. Irrespective of if you have bought into the gravity of climate change or not, the government has put aside significant funds to tackle the issues. This in turn provides a good opportunity to get a business up and running with the aide of the Government with market demand having been established.

Green Construction

Consumers want there new home or upgraded one to have as low an environmental impact as possible. This will develop into a high demand for homes which meet ratings standards such as R-2000, BuiltGreen and LEED. If you are able to supply green materials, techniques or certifications there is a ready demand for your product.

Senior Renovations

DIY or Home renovation has always been a good market. Increasingly Seniors are looking to stay in their own homes longer and make their lives easier. Finding a niche is the key to success, start thinking about special bath fittings and ramps then think much further there is a solid market waiting to be satisfied.

Senior Care

There is an increasing demand for the senior care range of products. Supplying in-home care, starting a rest home, providing in home services (running errants, housekeeping, preparing meals) are in demand. Check out senior franchises as an alternative market entry point.

Business Security

Businesses will increasingly look to strengthen their security. Different sized businesses have widely different needs leading to a number of niche opportunities from locks to alarms to biometric security.

Nutrition Consulting

There is and increasing concern about food, how its made and where it comes from. This has translated into a grow industry for nutritionists. People are looking for advice about healthy living. There is also an opportunity for naturopaths.

Local Food Suppliers

With an increasing awareness of food origins people want to know where exactly where an how it was made. This is leading to increasing demand for food grown locally and naturally. Farm gate sales and farmers market sales are increasing and restaurants and retail markets focusing on local food represent good business opportunities.

Heating and Cooling Products

With governments around the world boosting environmental grants for consumers this industry will see good growth this year. A consumer who installs a heat pump will not only save money long term but now they get a grant from the government to install it. Smaller businesses who install these products will do well over the next few years.

Social Media Marketing/Management

Social Media is everywhere right now. However many small businesses don’t know how to get the best out of it. If you have skills in social media marketing and can deliver you business will enjoy significant market demand.

These are good business opportunities because they are well positioned taking into account business trends, consumer trends and the economy. They should show good profit for many years.

When considering any one of these opportunities, you need to understand that not every opportunity will fit every person. Always do the basics, properly scope the opportunity, do your homework and always write a business plan before setting of on your next adventure !

This post is about the social bookmarking demographics reported in the Royal Pingdom Blog.

Selling stuff, any stuff, is a lot more effective if you know something about the people you are selling to and can tailor your message to them. This holds true irrespective of whether your revenue is coming from online or offline sales.

Online marketers, looking to leverage traffic from social bookmarking sites, will be interested in a new survey completed by the Pingdom people, which provides an insight into the male to female ratios of visitors to those sites.

The quick statistics make interesting reading:

The average ratio of all 19 sites was 47% male, 53% female.

If they hadn’t included the three social news sites, all of the sites would have had more females than males.

84% (16 out of 19) of the sites have more female than male users.

The social news sites Digg, Reddit and Slashdot have significantly more male users than female. The standout here is Slashdot which has 82% male users.

Twitter and Facebook have almost the same male-female ratio; Twitter with 59% female users and Facebook with 57%.

The most female-dominated site? Bebo (66% female users), closely followed by MySpace and Classmates.com (64%).

The full list of sites included in the study was:

Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter, Slashdot, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon, FriendFeed, Last.fm, Friendster, LiveJournal, Hi5, Imeem, Ning, Xanga, Classmates.com, Bebo and the study drew data from Google’s Ad Planner service.

The original article includes a nice graph of the results.

Customers are the most important element of any business since they can directly attribute to your success or lack thereof. However, even the best of businesses will have unhappy customers at one point or another; what can distinguish you from the pack is how you deal with them. Here are five methods for handling customer complaints that will keep customers happy and encourage repeat patrons.

Ask How to Make Things Right
So many businesses have canned responses when it comes to handling customer complaints (such as offering a refund or taking money off a bill) but there’s not a one-size-fits-all solution for every complaint. Take initiative and show the customer you are willing to do what it takes to make things right by asking outright what you can do. Be genuine and polite and you may be surprised to find that most people don’t want much, they simply want to make their feelings known and be heard.
The Customer is Always Right…Once
It can often be difficult for businesses to know whether or not a complaint is valid; there are dishonest people who will make false claims in order to get some kind of bonus or free ride. For example, a customer may return an article of clothing to a retail store stating they changed their mind or decided they did not like it even though they may have already worn it. The store will often refund the money since there’s no way to know whether the customer is being truthful or not. That being said, take most customer complaints for face-value and adopt the adage “the customer is always right once.” You may need to implement a process or strategy to handle customers with suspicious repeat complaints.
Let Them Know you Understand
Customers like to know that businesses understand exactly why they are upset. Listen to the customer’s complaint than politely reiterate the situation to them to illustrate you fully comprehend. Being understanding is a great way to diffuse the situation with an angry customer and begin to make amends.
Respond ASAP
Delaying a response or a resolution to a customer’s complaint will likely only result in an even angrier and more resentful customer. Take the necessary steps needed to resolve the situation as soon as possible. When a business can demonstrate to a customer that they are doing everything they can to accommodate them, customers are more willing to forgive and move on.
Thank Them
It may seem odd but thank customers for their honest and direct feedback no matter what it is. Without it, you have no idea if you are delivering the experience and level of service your customers want and it provides an opportunity to improve.
Following these five simple steps can breed a loyal customer base which in turn gives you the foundation for a successful, credible business.

Buying a home based franchise opportunity business as a way of starting a new business is seen as a lower risk alternative to starting from scratch on your own.

As with any business it is important to properly evaluate the opportunity before jumping in. With an existing franchise, you will be better placed to ensure the market and the business model is sound before starting your new venture.

If franchising is a path you would like to go down, here are some tips to help ensure your success.

Look for BFA accredited franchises. See the International Franchise Association website . Membership isn’t a guarantee of success but at least you know you are associating yourself with an organisation who has met reasonable business and ethical standards.

Smaller less proven franchises can be very profitable and a bit cheaper but will have a higher potential risk. Larger more established franchises tend to be more expensive to offset the reduced risk. If you already well understand the market you are thinking of getting into then you can lower your overall risk

Always visit the Franchisor’s headquarters, talk to their staff and get a feel of what it would be like to work with them. If there is an option of a trial period and you can afford the trial conditions always take advantage of the opportunity.

Be sure the Franchisor runs you through a vetting process. A sign of potential looming disaster is a franchisor whose only interest is ensuring you have enough money to find the setup fee.

Get a list of all the franchise outlets currently in operation and interview a random selection. Don’t be guided on who to interview by the Franchisor, you need to make the call. A good operator will let you speak to any of their operating franchises. In your interview look for the franchisees perception of the strengths and weaknesses of the operation.

Be aware of potential competition. Unless your product is unique and protected by patent, then at any time a competitor could open up business right next door to you. This is especially so for products which are new to the market. For older more established products the chance is less if there is already a reasonable amount of competition in your area. How would you business survive if someone opened next door and turn-over halved.

A good franchise will be offering some sort of unique product or service. Get a feel for how easy it would be for a competitor to duplicate your proposed offering.

Even if you are a financial wiz, get someone independent to review the financial projections. This is because everyone looses a bit of objectivity when looking to buy a business. A fresh set of eyes will pick up on items you may have met and will not be scared to challenge you on any obvious weaknesses in the financial projections.

Ensure the proposed product has a good profit margin. Not only will you need to feed yourself but most likely you will need to pay the franchisor a percentage of the turnover too.

To stay in business and remain competitive the Franchisor needs to be continuously innovating, finding new products to sell and looking for smarter, cheaper ways of running the existing operation. Ask the franchisor what strategy they have to innovate within the franchise.

Be careful of operations that are totally dependant upon one person, most likely the founder. How would the franchise as a whole operate if any one of the franchisor’s team left the business? If the franchise as a whole was sold, is it likely the business as a whole would continue to operate effectively? The business must be resilient to change within the management structure. This usually comes back to how systemised the franchise is.

Think also about how well the franchise (if buying a new territory) will work in your area. It may have well been a success up country where the socio-economic mix is different but it is important to understand why it has been successful and satisfy yourself that it will suit your proposed are also.

Consider how well the business will survive in different economic conditions. How would it fair in a recession, would people still buy its products or services? When starting out always look for something which is recession resistant. It won’t be as exciting or glamorous but at least you will still eat if the economy turns down for an extended period.

Most franchises establish a promotional fund where a percentage of the turnover is used to promote the product in your area. Be very clear on how much say you have in how this money is spent. Over time you will have a very good idea of the best use of this fund and will want to have a good say in its use.

Don’t ignore the chemistry between yourself and the franchisor. If you take this opportunity you will be working closely with your franchisor over an extended period of time. You must operate off similar principles to them or every decision into the future will be fraught with difficulty because of the variance of approaches.

Lastly, don’t pick a business which just appeals from a financial perspective. Look for a business that you are genuinely interested in. Something which is or can become your passion. Its your love or not of the business which will be picked up by your customers – they will keep coming back to someone who constantly provides great service, and to do that day in, day out you just have to love what you do!

The post is written by John, who took some time away from all the usual distractions to focus on a very simple, low cost business model.

As a result of some pretty determined effort, he now claims to make $300/day from Adense. That’s a pretty good result in a 6 month period.

I’ve listed the entire post below, along with a link to the original thread in the Warrior forum. The thread was 32 pages long when I last checked and is full of really useful information for anyone looking at niche marketing, irrespective of your experience.

After reading the post I purchased his course. Its a 94 page document which steps you through exactly how he has achieved his $300/day Adsense income.

For me the highlight of the course was his recommendation of a product called Micro Niche Finder to do the keyword research. I already own “Keyword Elite” which does a similar job. However what I really like about Micro Niche finder is the traffic light system it has for pointing out potentially profitable niches.

Let me explain. With Micro Niche Finder you just search a possible topic and the keyword tool throws up about 200 possible keywords. Then you ask it to check the “SOC” of the keywords you are interested in. This shows one of three “traffic lights” against each of the keywords. If the light is green then you have a good candidate. No need to do any calculations, just run your eye down the list and pick out the green ones. Simple; and for me has saved a lot of time over the last few days.

Back to the MicroNiche Adsense Course. As above its a 94 page PDF with step by step instructions showing how John is earning from Adsense.

Topics include:

How to Earn Six Figures With Google Adsense

The Perfect Adsense Niches My Keyword Research Approach

Creating Your Website Content

My Highest Converting Template

Getting Your Site Ranked and Making Money

Growing Your Business

John provides recommendations on a range of tools from website makers, to keyword research, which if you purchased them also, will allow a complete beginner could get going and be productive (and profitable) in very short order.

For me the course has been well worth the investment. It doesn’t contain anything revolutionary and nothing that you cant pick up in bits and pieces on forums etc. But it does bring everything together in one neat package and in a formula which if followed to the letter will bring results. No years of trial and error, just an instant actionable process which has been proven to make money.

Here’s a copy of his original Warrior Forum post:

It’s been 6 months since I’ve posted because I had gotten
Waaaay off track from my initial goals.

I then decided to stay COMPLETELY off all marketing forums,
get back to my passion (Adsense), and implement a new
strategy to my business.

I have changed a lot of my old approaches and my opinions
on specific strategies have changed quite a bit which I’d like
to share a little with you here.

To put it in simple terms… by branching out into dozens of
sites with super-targeted niches, using Google’s keyword tool
instead of wordtracker, and some other specific keyword
approaches.

… My Adsense income has almost tripled to date, reaching well
into the $300+ earnings each day.

Some Lessons Learned:

1) I have seen the light in terms of making more sites instead of
focusing on 1 big one. My health site still does well on its own,
around $100 or so daily, but it takes more maintenance than
my new strategy to go specific with keywords and niche markets.

2) I now focus EVERY website on products that can be found at
Amazon, E-bay, Wal-Mart, etc. This is probably the reason why my
income has exploded. I had no idea just how much open markets
there are in these products.

3) I now shoot only for keywords that I know can get in the top
spots for Google but with enough searches to make money.

4) Some of my most stable earners are sites with less than 30
pages.

5) I now work on 4-5 sites at a time, getting each ranked and earning
natural search engine clicks within a week.

6) Some of my sites only have 1 page of content, yet remain earning
$2 to $3 daily without any upkeep.

7) My content is always about product descriptions.

8) I still use article marketing exclusively, but do not worry about
keywords, nor do I care if my article ranks.

9) Some of my sites rank in the top 5 positions of Google, make money,
and I did no backlinking.

10) I have changed up my template that now gets 50% CTR at times,
often reaching the 75% mark (mainly due to using product-only niches).

One of the easier ways to make money online is to get paid for giving something away.

Free online polls is a way of making money by having website visitors complete a poll on a topical subject.

The systems needs a bit of setup, but can be quite profitable and is a proven way to earn with CPA offers.

It works a bit like this:

Get a poll idea
Go to somewhere like the Yahoo Buzz index and look for a popular event. Could be sports, political scandal, NBA etc.
Identify a couple of prominent people associated with the event. This iedea is that the epole who visit your site will be more likely to relate to the people in the event than the event themselves. This “connection” in turn makes them more likely to take part in the poll.

Sign Up for a few CPA c networks who have email offers
Email submits pay from $.50c to $1.30 when someone enters their email address only. The offers are free for your visitor to take part in. Generally the visitor get free product or a discount voucher in return for supplying their email address. Azoogle, Affiliate.com, Hydra Media, Flux Ads, XY7, NeverBlue Ads, Ourfreestuff and Canadian Sponsors all offer email submits.

Setup an Ad Campaign in Google Adwords
Fire up an ad on the content network where the traffic is a lot cheaper. Start with your bid at about .20cents then bid it down to around 10cents or lower.

Googles adwords is theme based not keyword based. So go to your favourite keyword tool and generate a good thousand keywords. Break them into groups of 50 and use them in your Adwords campaign.

Create A Landing Page

Traffic is sent from Google to the landing page where visitors are invited to take a survey. They click on the option they choose from the survey and are directed to the offer page as a free gift for completing the survey. Once the visitor enters their email they get the free gift and you get paid.

For a successful campaign the numbers might look a bit like this:

Assume average cost per keyword is 8 cents.

Say 12% of visitors will submit their email and the offer pays $1.30.

So 100 visitors would cost $8. If 12 of them submit their email you would be paid $15.6

In rough terms you would more than double your money on a successful campaign.

Sounds easy but its not

Allow for 30% of your campaigns to be unsuccessfull

You need to kill unsuccessful campaigns quickly to stay in profit over-all

Since the polls are based around an event, the campaigns generally only work short term, you need to be always adding new campaigns to keep bringing in the money.

Some people make a lot of money with this method. Its been around for a long time.

In the link below Stephen claims to be making $3,000 to $5,000 per month with this method.

Generally people fail because

They don’t have the right tools – you need to automate everything to be able to generate lots of polls

They dont have the right knowledge about how to go about it

They are not prepared to work hard enough

There is a pretty good thread about this technique here. Steven who started the thread is doing a soft sell to get you to buy his ebook and then join PPC coach.

However the information in the thread is excellent.

If you want to dig deeper you can buy the ebook for $9.00 (I own a copy).

For $50/month you could join PPC Coach. This program has a good reputation just do a google search to see for yourself, or check out this short thread.

You can also check out the Poll Factory with a short review of this product here
