The law, which takes effect immediately, permits trained individuals in possession of a license to carry a concealed gun to also carry a non-lethal weapon for their personal protection.

Even though the bill has received negative response from sheriffs and police chiefs, it has received an immense amount of bipartisan support by the Michigan State Police.

Speaking to Detroit News, state Senator Rick Jones, R-Grand Ledge said: “I think (Tasers are) a very reasonable alternative to guns and bullets.”

However, before people can purchase the device they are first required to pass their training. The package of three bills means, though, that sporting goods stores can stock and sell Arizona-based TASER International’s consumer-grade device.

The same laws and regulations that govern concealed weapons would also apply to TASERS. But, they present the ideal alternative to a lethal weapon without the user having to worry about any harm coming to the person in question.

Not only that, but like Sen. Rick Jones explains on WLNS News, someone who sees this device is more likely to run than do someone harm.
