After producing records for several artists and writing songs for Cash Money Records, co-founder of the label Birdman, Young Money Entertainment owner Lil Wayne and rapper Diddy, Derülo signed to minor recording label Beluga Heights. After Beluga Heights became part of the Warner Music Group, Derülo released his debut single, "Whatcha Say" in May 2009, which sold over five million digital downloads, gaining an RIAA certification of double platinum, and reaching number 1 in the US and New Zealand. Derülo released his second single, "In My Head", in December 2009. His debut album, Jason Derülo, was released in 2010.

"Please Don't Let Me Go" received a Silver certification by the BPI. He released second single from the album "Thinking of Me" which charted at number four on the UK Singles Charts, however the single also got a Silver certification by the BPI.

Jermaine Scott (born 9 March 1985), better known by his stage name Wretch 32, is an English Grime MC and rapper from Tottenham, London, where he grew up the son of a local reggae DJ in the notorious Tiverton Estate. He was a member of the grime collective "Combination Chain Gang", before forming The Movement with Scorcher, Ghetto, Devlin and Mercston. He is also often associated with the TMT crew, also from Tottenham, due to his close relationship to fellow Tottenham rapper Cell 22. The pair have made several songs together. He released his first single "Traktor" in January 2011.

On 6 December 2010, the BBC announced that Wretch 32 had been nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll and MTV named him as a nominee for MTV Brand New for 2011.

The controversial ambient-indie ensemble Deerhunter drew considerable attention in 2006 and 2007 as much for a series of challenging shoegaze-inspired recordings as for the blog writings of skeletal frontman Bradford Cox. An open book of sorts, Cox uses Deerhunter (and, apparently, his blog) as an outlet to confront his personal demons. At times quite beautiful, at others disarmingly abstract, Deerhunter experiments with various left-field recording and performing techniques to create their soundscapes. The Atlanta-based band has toured with Battles, the Fiery Furnaces, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, among other 21st-century indie heavyweights.

An indie pop veteran by his early twenties, singer/songwriter Miles Kane played a key role in the late-noughties alternative scene. As part of a three-piece named the Rascals, he released Rascalize (2007). After supporting Arctic Monkeys on their U.K. tour, Kane became friends with lead singer Alex Turner, and due to a mutual appreciation of Scott Walker, they recorded an album together. The Last Shadow Puppets reached number one with their debut, The Age of the Understatement, scored a Top Ten single with the title track, and received a 2008 Mercury Music Prize nomination. In 2010, Kane worked with Gruff Rhys on material influenced by Serge Gainsbourg and John Lennon. His first single, "Inhaler," was released the same year.

A glorious celebration of New Orleans blues, 'Let Them Talk' unites Laurie's musical talent with a very personal selection of standards and lost blues classics performed with his band of renowned musicians and some very special guest stars.

Produced by Joe Henry and recorded at sessions in Los Angeles and New Orleans, 'Let Them Talk' sees Laurie on vocals and piano heading a team of musicians whose previous collective credits include work with artists as varied as Greg Allman, Solomon Burke, Robert Plant, kd lang, T-Bone Burnett, Alison Krause and John Legend. Together, they interpret and revive songs originally recorded by NOLA blues legends such as Lead Belly, Robert Johnson, Ray Charles and Memphis Slim.

'Let Them Talk' also features collaborations with the Soul Queen of New Orleans Irma Thomas and Sir Tom Jones on the little known 'Baby, please Make A Change'. Thomas also leads the vocals on 'John Henry', while Laurie's lifelong hero Dr. John provides a momentous collaboration on 'After You've Gone'. Another legend, the producer, musician and songwriter Allen Toussaint, contributes horn arrangements throughout.

"In my imagination, New Orleans just straight hummed with music, romance, joy, despair; its rhythms got into my gawky English frame and, at times, made me so happy and sad, I just didn't know what to do with myself," said Laurie. In the summer of 2010, Duck Sauce released a track "Barbra Streisand", named for the singer of the same name. The track heavily samples Gotta Go Home by Boney M, which is based upon the original tune Hallo Bimmelbahn by the German band Nighttrain. "Barbra Streisand" was first played at Miami Winter Music Conference 2010, and is getting heavy DJ and radio support in the UK and Ireland, Germany, Poland (Polskie Radio 4), France, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka (Yes FM and Kiss FM). In Australia, "Barbra Streisand" was first heard on the radio station Triple J while in New Zealand it made its debut on Auckland student radio station 95bFM. The song has since also moved to various commercial radio stations and has increased in popularity. It reached Number 1 on the ARIA Club Chart as of 12 September 2010. For Billboard magazine week ending December 18, 2010, the song reached the #1 position on the Dance/Club Play Songs chart.
