The idea of "Occidente" ("the West") is to do videocreaciones of short duration surroundings to the consumer society, using for it the language of television, near the publicity.

At the moment they are the two works that I have done. The first one "Democracy" I already recorded it several years ago, in 2003. The second one "Publicity" I finished it in March of the 2006, although I kept the images recorded from 2004.

Here they are to see them in Quicktime format. After that there is "Democracy" in flash:

Aside from videoclip "Gezurtia" already published in this blog, I have done three more videoclips with the electronic music group from Vitoria-Gasteiz Atomoog. The four videos are of the disc "Zerutik eskegita" (Abril 2006, Gaztelupeko Hotsak).

This video is the culmination of my study on the videoanimation. Edited by cut and doesn´t repite any frame. We were month and a half preparing the recording to be able to carry out it in two days. Recorded and edites between May and September of the 2005 in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

2- NAT ERRUA MIX

The first one "Nat errua mix" is based on an idea of Kattya Arenzana Mertxan, that appears in the images. We recorded it in Seignosse, in French Landes, L´Etang Noir and plage du Penon. We began to record in November of the 2004 and finished in June of the 2005.

3- PARE BAT ZORO KENDUTA

In this videoclip in black and white we can see Atomoog playing live the song "Pare bat zoro kenduta". The editing plays with the movement of different boxes in the screen.

This videoclip forms part of the extras of the live dvd of Atomoog "Zuzenean" that I did between November 2005 and January 2006. The live video lasts 43´04 '' and gathers the concert that they played in Vitoria-Gasteiz the 21st of July 2005. In the blog of Atomoog it can be seen part of this live video, concretely the song "Gogoetak", where it can be seen the group playing and the live video projections.

Ortzi Acosta Calvo and I made this shortfilm in November 2004 and finished the editing in April 2005..
The script was happened to Ortzi long ago, listening to the song "flamenkete" of the rock band Garden. After to have recorded tests, he come back from Japan and both got together to advance in the script and to take the project ahead. To find the right place was difficult, but in the end we got it. We finished the script and recorded the hold sohrt film in way day. The editing was much more longer, 2 months.

Duration: 3´06´´. In three languages, spanish, basque and english. Thanks to Elisabeth that was working with us.

THE DRUMMER

This is the first of a series of three videos around the viodeaimation applied to the drum. In this video the videonaimation is applied simplifying the beats, so it´s easier to be understood. If you want to see it in a better quality click here Quicktime 3,7 Mb

This second video is more complex and he is more centered in animating the pieces of the drum. The beats of the kick, snare and charles try to emulate the movement created by the beats of the drummer (that is, me), and to harness visually the fact rythmical of the drum In order to see it in better quality Quicktime 4 Mb

A hour and a half duration documentary about my old music band: Garden (transparent in basque). From the first rehearsals at the begining of 1999, until the last live show in June 2001. The band members were Iker (drums), Aitor (bass), Oskar (guitar and vocals) and me, Beñat (guitar).

I´ve need nearly two years to finish this work.

GEZURTIA

The first videoclip made with Atomoog, of the song Gezurtia (music: Atomoog, lyrics: Iker), from the disc "Zerutik eskegita" (Hanging from the sky). We recorded it in only one afternoon in February 2004, iluminated with that strange light. The diting work was much longer, a month and a half. The images were very static and I tried to give them movement, based in the rhythm of the song. I also played with the position of the light, basing the composition of the video in its movement. We haven´t seen the spider of the video never again. Recorded in Gaztelu Zoroa, thanks to the band Exhale. atomoog.blogspot.com

Ortzi Acosta Calvo and I made this shortfilm in June 2002, for the aid “Yo no soy de aquí” organized by Canal+ around the inmigration. The shortfilm had to last less than six minutes and it had to treat on inmigration.

In an orchard calm live tomatos, lettuces and carrots. A day they let water to the tomatos. By the necessity of water two tomatos decide to march in search of water... In the aid they selected us for the European final (They took part countries like France, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark). At last we got nothing.

The script and the production was made by Ortzi, the processing of the script and the recording we both did it, and the voices of the tomatos and the editing was made by me. We finished everything in three days because of the date of the aid. Duration 4´45´´, subtitled in spanish and english.
