Yes, it has been almost 3 months since my last blog post and I have missed you all! The last time I checked in I was telling you about the weird complications of my surgery that I had back in November to remove a benign cyst. Well, long story short, I ended up developing a dangerous blood clot in my arm (actually 2) and was put on heavy blood thinning medicine for a couple of months.

Those who know me know that I am a woman on the go. I am forever training for something, going somewhere, or doing something. Slowing down is not in my vocabulary. However this time was different. The medicine created such fatigue that not only drained me physically, but emotionally. I continued to tell myself that it’s temporary and this too will pass, but when you are so tired, none of that mattered. I also had to deal with the severity of what was going on. I was always reminded that this was dangerous, and thank goodness I was alive since it could of had a different outcome. Facing something so serious really makes you look at things.

Overwhelmed and trying to process doctor appointments and weekly blood tests to check my blood levels, along with work and family responsibilities, I decided to take a break from blogging and writing articles. Though I missed writing, I felt uninspired. I had to let myself ride this wave though this storm. Before I could inspire others, I had to become inspired again.

Good news came a month later when the clots I developed dissolved on their own ahead of schedule (usually takes 2-3 months). I believe that not only medicine helped, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Everyone is so concerned on looking good in clothes, or seeing a specific number on a scale that they forget that eating healthy and being active is also to help you to maintain health. Or if something happens, healthy living can help you recover and heal quicker.

So now with this behind me I am so very grateful that my outcome was not tragic. I am truly blessed and have a different outlook on life and why I am here. I am also going to start to enhance my business based on what I love to do instead of what is the biggest fitness fad at the moment, and from that hopefully help others fall in love with fitness.

So I hope you visit often and read my blog since I am back and better than ever. I am committed to help you be the healthiest you have ever been in 2012. So look forward to video exercise tips, more healthy recipes, running information, and more!

I am also looking for guest bloggers and people who have turned their lives around with living a healthy lifestyle. By Sharing your stories, you can inspire us all!

So until then, B Happy, B Healthy, and always B Fit!

Not only is he a certified personal trainer with a list of clients throughout the Philadelphia area, he is also an amazing chef with his catering company Sano Catering. Michael prepares meals that not only look and taste good, but they are good for you! I asked Michael to be a B-Fit guest blogger and share with us his thoughts on the world. He is a non nonsense kind of guy who will give us the info straight and to the point. Today his post is about Gatorade new product G2 and how this sports drink is more harm than good for our bodies.

Gatorade’s G2!

Gatorade’s purpose is to sustain energy, prevent dehydration, and avoid muscle cramping.
G2 can not! Reason being , its primary sweetener is Sucralose, an artificial sweetener. These types of man made sweeteners will not or can not help the re-hydration process or replenish muscle tissue. Our bodies can not process these chemicals. Therefore, they actually block the essential
electrolytes from being absorbed into the bloodstream. Natural sugar is essential for the transport and absorption of magnesium, potassium and calcium into the cell, and this is essential for re-hydration. So, forget about the calories and be sure to replenish fluids within 30 minutes after your workout.
These calories will help hydrate muscle by absorbing into your cells for a stabilized glucose level as well as burn of almost instantly not causing weight gain. More on the benefits of Gatorade at

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I
spent my holiday recovering from minor surgery. I now have an appreciation for
the human body and how we must take time to rest and heal. I am a person always
on the go. And when I am not on the go, I am thinking about what I have to do
when I am on the go. I am constantly moving from one thing to the next. However
the anesthesia I was given left me so groggy and tired for days that all I
could do is sit and rest or sleep. When I thought I was ok to start getting
ready for Thanksgiving, my body told me I was doing too much and I was forced
to go back to resting. This was a hard thing to do for someone who has to be constantly
doing something. But it was a good lesson for me to learn to sit down and let
my body heal on its own time, not on the time I think it should heal. It’s a
new week and I am getting back into the swing of things slowly. I taught a spin
class and was reminded that my body isn’t ready for my normal high intensity
workouts. But I know this week will be better than the last and next week will
be even better and will be back to myself.
Until then, always make sure to listen to your body when it’s telling
you to slow down and take a break!

Have you ever had a day that was
so much fun that It will be a memory for years to come? I had a day like that on Saturday. Normally Saturdays are a work day for me because I train my running group, but instead I took the day off and headed to New York City with
my daugther and her Girl Scout Troop. Our agenda was to head to American Girl for lunch and afternoon show at Radio City Music Hall for the Rockettes Christmas
Spectaculiar. The girls excitement was contagious during the bus ride up to New York. You couldn’t help but get excited too! We then shopped in the store and I
felt as if I was a kid again, oohing and ahhing at all the dolls, clothes,
and accessories. I became 8 again! Lunch was great and the dolls sit with you while
you eat your meal.

A Doll getting her hair done at American Girl

After lunch we walked the streets of the city before heading
to Radio City. Not all the decorations for Christmas were lit on the buildings, but the girls and I got to preview the ones that were. The show at Radio City did not disappoint and was very delightful. We came home tired but happy. As much as I love what I do on Saturdays, and hated missing my run with the group,
not even the best run could have replaced the feeling I had spending time with my daugther and her friends and being “8” again!
