Intercessions for the Second Sunday of Lent.

Priest:

Let us turn our thoughts and prayers to God, asking him for the needs of our community and our world.

Reader:

Let us pray that through the Church the glory of Christ transfigured may make our world into a place alive with wonder and joy. Lord in your mercy

This week has seen the CAFOD Fast Day. We in this "first world" have so much, which we take so much for granted. May God help us to remember those not blessed with clean water and abundant food, and to give generously to the underprivileged and the needy.  Lord in your mercy

Our world is often a violent place. Let us pray for the people of Homm, suffering so dreadfully, and for the people working to bring peace to Syria. Lord in your mercy

We pray for the sick in our parish, that they may be healed  Lord in your mercy

Let us pray for ourselves and for our parish community, may we have the understanding to hear God’s call to us and the courage to follow it.  Lord in your mercy

Let us pray for those who have died especially those who have died recently. May they see the face of Christ forever. Lord in your mercy…

We bring all our prayers to God's Holy Mother, as we say Hail Mary

As we begin the season of Lent let us bring our needs and the needs of the world to Almighty God in prayer.

Reader:

We give thanks to God the Father for this time of grace. Let us ask him to cleanse our hearts and strengthen us in love through the Holy Spirit living within us

Lord, hear us.

We pray for all who proclaim the word of God, that they may be filled with wisdom and compassion and may preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth. We pray especially for missionaries, priests, nuns and zealous lay workers in the missions.

Lord, hear us.

That those, especially those in our midst, who are crushed by economic problems, poor health, fears and anxieties, loneliness and pain. May they draw special hope from what God has promised.

Lord, hear us.

Be merciful Lord to all those of our community who have left this world, we pray especially for all our family and friends who have died, may they be given everlasting happiness.

Lord, hear us.

Let us ask Our Lady to help us as we pray Hail Mary.

In silent prayer we bring our own needs and intentions to our heavenly Father.

Let us pray for all who are adversely affected by the downturn in the world's economy, particularly those who are unemployed. May they be patient and persevere as they strive to support those for whom they are responsible.

We thank you for the gift of your love and mercy that overlooks our weaknesses, our failures, and our many sins. Strengthen us always, and open our hearts to the mystery of life and of your infinite love for us.
Lord in your mercy

Let us pray for all those who are sick, for those of our families, and for those who have asked for our prayers, that the Lord may guide them and strengthen them through their illness. We pray also for those who care for the sick, those engaged in the caring professions and for family members who look after loved ones and especially for children who care for parents.

Lord, we pray for our dead who have received your healing sacrament in this life, May you greet them with love and mercy and grant them the happiness of your kingdom.

Rejoice, rejoice in the Lord. With confidence we turn to our Father and place our petitions before Him.

Let us pray for our Holy Father Pope Benedict, for Our Bishop, and all priests, deacons and people of the diocese; through our faith, may we all come closer to the Lord in prayer, in hope and in joy.
Lord in your mercy

St. Paul points the way to true happiness when he writes 'try to be helpful to everyone at all times, not seeking our own advantage but the advantage of everybody else' We pray that we may become as Christ is 'a man for others'.
Lord in your mercy

When Christ cured the Leper He asked him to show himself to the priest. We pray that we may take advantage of the great privilege we have as Catholics of seeking forgiveness in the sacrament of reconciliation.

We pray for all married couples, may they share their lives together in mutual love and respect for each other and that the bonds of their vows in Matrimony may continue to grow ever stronger.
Lord, in your mercy.

We pray also for those who are encountering difficulties in their relationships; may they rediscover the beauty and wonder of each other, that their love may grow ever stronger. Lord in your mercy

Priest: We present our petitions to the Lord our God on behalf of His whole Church and the world he created.

We pray that governments and all people in authority will strive to lead those they serve with justice and charity Lord, hear us.

Today is World Mission Sunday and we are reminded of our calling to go out to all nations to proclaim the Gospel and to build God’s Church. With churches throughout the world we are united in prayer and sacrifice and so we have confidence to ask God to listen in love and mercy to our prayers.

We pray for Pope Benedict, first missionary of the Church, and for all missionaries who dedicate their lives to be fruitful messengers of the Word, that they may be always loving, patient, humble and wise witnesses of Christ the Saviour. Lord in your mercy

We pray for all who lead and govern the nations of the world, especially in the many areas where war, conflict and civil unrest currently prevail. May the Holy Spirit guide them to be wise in their judgements and honest in all that they do, so that all whom they lead and govern may enjoy harmony and stability. Lord in your mercy

Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Priest:

God fulfils all our needs and is the source of everything we have and all that we are. We ask Him to listen to our prayers of intercession, for we know that without Him we can do nothing.

Reader:

We pray for the Church that it may radiate the example of Christ through its leaders and peoples and encourage all to be called to take on the new garments of life in Christ and so be clothed in love, truth, peace and goodness, Lord in your mercy

We pray that we may be responsive to the invitation of the Lord, remembering that nothing is impossible to God and that there is nothing we cannot master with the help of the one who gives us strength, Lord in your mercy

We pray for the efforts of CAFOD and all aid agencies. May we be generous in giving of our time, our prayers and monetary support so that their work on our behalf with the poor, the needy, the down-trodden and disadvantaged may continue, Lord in your mercy

We pray for all those who have died recently and those whose anniversaries fall at this time. May He who destroyed death and who wipes away every tear lead them through the valley of darkness into the radiance of His glorious resurrection, Lord in your mercy

We turn to Our Lady, Queen of the Rosary, and ask her to intercede with us as we say: Hail MaryLet us pause to meet the Lord in a moment of silent prayer.

Priest:Brothers and sisters, remembering that “if there is anything you need, pray for it” we now turn to God in prayer for the needs of the Church and the whole world.

Reader:

We pray for the church - Pope Benedict, Bishops, Priests, Religious and laity. May we all be fruitful labourers in the vineyard of the Lord bearing justice, integrity and love to all. Lord, in your mercy.

We pray for those who lead and govern the nations of this world. May the Holy Spirit guide them to be wise in their judgements and honest in all that they do, so that fear, hatred and oppression may give way to reconciliation, peace and harmony. Lord, in your mercy.

We pray for all those who work on the land, at sea, in the city and in industry and for those tasked to make decisions about the world’s resources. May we all enjoy the fruits of our labours and marvel at your creation as the harvest is gathered in and the seasons turn once again. Lord, in your mercy.

We pray for those who have died and those whose anniversaries occur at this time. May the light of Christ draw them to Him that their sins may be forgiven and eternal peace be theirs in His presence. Lord, in your mercy.

October is dedicated to the saying of the rosary and so we turn to Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, asking her to join our prayers with hers as we say: Hail Mary

Priest:

Let us pray to God our Father who gave us life and provides for all our needs.

Reader:

For his Holiness Pope Benedict XV1 and for the bishops of the church that together with the leaders of all the world’s religions they will guide us into the Lords vineyard with tolerance and respect for others, and so search together for ways of peace between nations.Lord, hear us.

We pray for all who are stubborn of heart and will,
that God's loving grace may move them to change to the path of truth.
Lord, hear us.

At the start of the new term in our seminaries we pray especially for all who may be called to enter the Priesthood, Diaconate or Consecrated life and for each one of us here whatever our vocation, that may we have the courage and generosity to answer your call. Lord, hear us.

At this harvest time we pray for all who work on the land, may their labour be blessed by God and may they be given suitable weather for the growth and harvesting of their crops which will provide food for themselves and for others. Lord, hear us.

We pray for those who have died and for all whose anniversaries occur at this time. May they experience the everlasting joy of God's heavenly kingdom. Lord, hear us.

Let us now turn to our Lady, the mother of Jesus to intercede for us as we say, Hail Mary....
