South Park recently spent an episode on the current economic crisis; specifically on how buying overpriced crap on credit cards and payment plans encourages the same mentality that got us into all of this in the first place. The catalyst for this cartoon-economic journey was a Margaritaville® Frozen Concoction™ Maker 2000 which lets you make Margaritas and other “Frozen Concoctions” at home for the low, low price of $349.99.

Sur La Table took a quick look at their options for dealing with this “free advertising” and decided they would do their best to capitalize on it (see email above). Really guys?? I get that you’re trying to be funny back and keep everyone laughing while swiping the cards, but this stops being funny the minute you acknowledge that you really do carry a product like this and it really does cost $349.99 (payment plan unknown).

Next time just let it go…

Shane Hurlbut was being a bit of a douche messing w/ lights while Christian Bale was trying to emote. This went on long enough that the DP got a little taste of what will happen to you when messing with the leader of the worldwide resistance and last hope for mankind. Hilarity ensues! Bale just apologized for his flip-out, but I wonder how it would’ve went down if the whole thing wasn’t recorded and distributed on the internet. Gotta take Bale’s side on this - he’s Batman/John Connor! A fresh-out-of-film-school PA would know better than to f’ w/ him while he’s trying to save the world from the machines..

500 million and counting!

Publishing rumors about Steve Jobs’ health is one of the most distasteful things I’ve done in a long time. Let me just get this off my chest.

Brian Lam just let his [uncensored (and bravo for that)] thoughts out about the media whirlwind of reporting on Steve Jobs’ health condition and Gizmodo’s way-before-the-rest coverage; I applaud him.

I think people [the media] are still unsure of the proper way to handle this - a, and yes I’m going there, living god gets sick and we’re not sure what to do.. I also think that Brian nailed it on the head. Gizmodo was the first to break it and while everyone else was trying to catch up they also took time to try and throw feces at gizmodo for beating them to the punch. I think this is much bigger though - when I look at something like this:

..and see some douchebag in a suit fighting with someone (fake steve jobs/real dan lyons in this case), someone who cares a ton more about this than any of the other talking heads on the tv, I lose what little I have left in that kind of media. I guess what I’m trying to say is that Gizmodo and the likes are outlets that I trust and I hope to see a changing of the guard as far as news and media goes in my lifetime.

I know that our stories caused you and the people close to you terrible stress. I am sorry for this. I hope you kick the motherfucking shit out of whatever is making you sick, and you get better and come back in June strong as an ox and go on to do great things in a third act at Apple.
