James O’Sullivan is a London- based experimental guitar player and improvisor who employs a playful but meticulous approach to the instrument through the bringing-together of physicality, resonance, detail and dynamics. He seeks to co-create a rich, layered and engaging music that entwines the excitement of the moment with a creative, focused exploration, shaping an enduring document of the guitar’s potential.

His interest in improvisation, recording and performance has led him to record and perform across the UK and internationally, both solo and with numerous improvised music groups. More long-standing groups include Muster, with Dan Powell (electronics), a duo with Paul May (percussionist), the improvising trio Found Drowned, and, most recently, LUFT, a trio with Chris Hill and Alan Newcombe.
Adam Bohman has been operating on the outer fringes of underground music for decades. Working with home-built instruments, found objects, tape cut-ups, collages, ink drawings and graphic scores. Favouring acoustic sounds over electronics, he explores the minute tendrils of sounds coaxed from any number of non-musical instruments and objects. He is a member of British experimental groups, Morphogenesis, The Bohman Brothers, Secluded Bronte, and The London Improvisers Orchestra. Adam’s music is unique and experimental, incorporating musique concrete, sound poetry and free improvisation.

London based saxophonist Colin Webster is quickly establishing himself on the European avant garde scene. Collaborating with some of the key figures in improvised and experimental music, Webster is known for working from extreme sonic palettes – from minimal to maximal, constantly pushing boundaries.

“Webster belongs in a long line of sharp-toned alto players, and while he rarely explores the freakish registers of a Kaoru Abe, he could remind you, at different moments, of people like John Zorn, Jean-Luc Guionnet, Anthony Braxton or even Jackie McLean.

There is this ‘punk’ spirit in his playing as well, an unfettered abundance, but he never sounds like a loose cannon. Webster has become a razor-sharp thinker who keeps the link between thought and execution as short as possible, spraying his barrage of stuttering and sputtering morsels of sound with a fearsome precision, as if there is some formal structure behind his freedom.”
– Guy Peters (taken from the liner notes to ‘New Invention’).

Born near London in 1957, Phil Durrant is a multi-instrumentalist improviser/composer/sound artist who currently performs solo and group concerts. As a violinist (and member of the Butcher Russell/Durrant trio), he was one of the key exponents of the ‘group voice approach’ style of improvised music. In the late 90s, his trio with Radu Malfatti and Thomas Lehn represented a shift to a more ‘reductionist’ approach.

In recent years as an acoustic or electric mandolinist, he has been performing duos with guitarists Daniel Thompson, Martin Vishnick and Pascal Marzan, as well as saxophonist Christoph Gallio. He also performs regularly in a trio with Mark Wastell and John Butcher and has many ongoing projects with drummer Emil Karlsen including a trio with Maggie Nicols and another trio with< pianist Laura Cole.

As a semi-modular synthesist, Phil Durrant continues to perform with Bertrand Denzler and Burkhard Beins in Trio Sowari. The group celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2024. He also has a duo with drummer Mark Sanders.

He is also a member of the international electronic ensemble MIMEO with Keith Rowe, Kaffe Matthews, Thomas Lehn, Rafael Toral a.o. With Mark Wastell, Steve Beresford and David Toop, he is also involved in an audio/visual project celebrating the work of the celebrated Scottish artist, Alan Davie.

In addition, Durrant has many ad-hoc groupings with a wide variety of musicians including Dominic Lash, Andrew Lisle, Colin Webster, Tansy Spinks, Khabat Abas, Tim Hodgkinson, Bill Thompson, a.o. Phil Durrant has also collaborated and composed site-specific music for a wide variety of choreographers, including Maxine Doyle, Susanne Thomas, and Gill Clarke.

“…the certainty is that Lawrence Casserley can be more innovative and creative than many of the ringleaders of the young generation of ‘laptoppers’.” Rui Eduardo Paes

Lawrence Casserley (born Essex, England, 1941) has devoted his career to the creation and promotion of live performance electronic music in a wide variety of ways for more than fifty years. In 1967 he became one of the first students of electronic music on the new course at the Royal College of Music, London, taught by Tristram Cary. His career continued at the Royal College of Music, where he became Professor-in-Charge of Studios and Adviser for Electroacoustic Music.

Since taking early retirement from the RCM in 1995 he has worked with many of the leading improvisers, particularly Evan Parker and his Electracoustic Ensemble. While he focuses primarily on the real-time transformation of other musicians’ sounds, he also uses voice, percussion, home-made instruments and found objects as separate sound sources or inputs for his self-designed Signal Processing Instrument.

Casserley’s instrumental approach to live computer sound processing is the hallmark of his work, which is documented on more than forty releases; he has performed and given workshops throughout Europe and in North and South America, Asia and Japan. Current collaborations include Jean-Michel Van Schouwburg, Philipp Wachsmann, Trevor Taylor, Gianni Mimmo, Martin Mayes, Nicola Baroni, Martin Hackett, Pat Thomas, Dominic Lash, Jeffrey Morgan, Harri Sjöström, Yoko Miura, Mia Zabelka and Viv Corringham. He is a regular member of Oxford Improvisers.

Mandhira is happiest bringing her playful energy and creativity to a breadth of projects across the less trodden paths of contemporary music, working with the likes of Anna Meredith, Laura Jurd and Shabaka Hutchings, and now increasingly as a solo artist.

Having left the Ligeti Quartet (Songbooks Vol. 1, 2021) – the plucky band of musical buccaneers she founded to explore the outer reaches of chamber repertoire – Mandhira’s recent creative ventures include a commission by the Ligeti Quartet, a collaboration with the cross-cultural Australian Art Orchestra (debuting in Melbourne and HCMF) and working with Jasmin Kent Rodgman on the soundtrack to the feature film ‘Bawa’s Garden’. 2019 saw her commissioned to write a site-specific piece for the Barbican’s Sound Unbound.

Equally at home leading orchestras in the world’s most prestigious concert venues, recording film soundtracks at Abbey Road and improvising at Cafe Oto, her other projects include improvising duos with Steve Beresford and Benoit Delbecq (Spinneret, 2019) and regular appearances with Riot Ensemble and London Contemporary Orchestra.

She currently plays a 1735 Sanctus Seraphin violin kindly loaned to her by Derek Clements-Croome.

Phil Durrant – electric mandolin and electronics

Pascal Marzan – microtonal guitar and electronics

Currently living in London, Pascal Marzan performs on a 10 string microtonal guitar. After studying classical guitar – mainly devoted to the twentieth century repertoire – and teaching guitar in several music schools in Budapest, Hungary and France, Pascal has dedicated himself to free improvisation and the exploration of microtonal tunings of his instrument. His playing has been influenced by his interest in the folk musics of Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa…

He has recorded guitar duets with John Russell, Roger Smith (Emanem records) and a trio with Sabu Toyozumi and Dan Warburton (Improvising Beings records)…

Roma Agnihotri is a visual and sound artist whose work invites audiences to experience themes and imagery in an abstract, sensory way. Sound is central to Roma’s practice, combining with visuals to create immersive, textured compositions that explore the relationship between audio and visual expression. Their early work, a hand-painted, experimental short film series on 8mm film, delved into themes of nostalgia and the tangible nature of film, set to soundscapes from circuit-bent toys and handmade instruments. Roma’s practice has since expanded to include a range of materials and techniques, including stop-motion animation, as they explore new ways to merge analogue and digital elements in their visuals.

I am an Anglo-Hispanic visual and sound artist. I have been active within the arts for more than 40 years, and I began composing with sound in 2003. I have worked both as a solo artist and collaboratively across composition, installation and film. I have played with improvising musicians Sue Lynch, Richard Sanderson, Charlotte Keeffe, Catherine Pluygers, Noisy Women, with Phil Durrant’s ensemble in ‘Exploring the Immersive Sonic Through Deep Listening’ 2022, and Bill Thompson’s ensemble for Intraspect 2023.

My compositions explore aspects of being in a particular space, situation and/or state of mind. I have had the privilege to play these on the diffusion system of The Loudspeaker Orchestra at St Alfege Church, and at the University of Greenwich when I participated in their Sound/Image International Conference 2019.

Sue Lynch and I have had an ongoing collaboration for some years now and are working on a CD for 2025. For these events I am Using field recordings from my larder of sounds which I process live through software on the iPad.

whose body is this is the proxy for Ben Mason’s music and other sound-related things. currently, they operate on the border between techno and other dance musics, and ‘experimental’ music in the lineage of computer music, all of which can be found above on the Bandcamp page.

their interest lies in using music programming in a live setting, working in environments such as Pd and SuperCollider, alongside other synthesis platforms.

whose’s last project was “Grub’s Laptop Remix”, a full remix of Spookduke’s “Grub’s Laptop Tracks” album, completed in Max/MSP ppooll, accompanied by an ‘acid soaked’ visualiser, made in Jitter. it approaches the idea of a remix through a lens of thick irony, paired with genuine admiration for the source material and the aim to explore digital sonic textures, formed from existing material rooted in a plethora of popular genres.

shortly before, they released “Future Acid 2000”, an exploration of chaotic and unstable digital systems using Pd, initiating an interest in the intersection between techno, acid, and more contemporary experimental aesthetics. the scripts are available on Github.

Rutger Hauser’s eponymous debut album was released on the ADAADAT label in 2016. Ian’s solo album, ‘Voyage en Kaléidoscope’ (made in 1995) finally escaped to the surface in 2016 thanks to the folks at Lumen Lake label. He was part of the ensemble who performed Bill Thompson’s ‘Gates 2017’ at Goldsmiths and contributed tape loops to saxophonist Colin Webster’s release ‘vs. Tape Loops’ on the Fractal Meat label in 2017. Ian’s albums ‘Synthesizer Experiments Volumes 1-3’ were self-released on Bandcamp in 2019, alongside several others.”
Roma Agnihotri is an audio-visual artist whose passion lies in exploring the synergy between sound and visuals. Recently completing their degree in creative music technology, Roma has created an abstract experimental film series that explores the relationship between sound and non-narrative-based films. Driven by a passion for repurposing and reusing materials, Roma combines reworked samples, circuit bent instruments and founds sounds, infusing their films with a distinctive and unconventional sonic landscape. Their work aims to challenge the conventional notions of sound, visuals, and the boundless possibilities they hold.
