It all changed last week. I had to buy tires for my 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring and if you know anything about that vehicle the tires are run-flat or PAX. This means when you need to change them it is over $400 per tire.

As I started to look for the best solution for myself I realized there was an opportunity here and so I employed one of the sites I mentioned above. I was able to start making money the same day and every day since there has been revenue.

I would love to know how some of you have used Amazon and Ebay to generate revenue.

A friend told me that he knows people that are getting over 2,000 clicks a day on Ebay at .15 per click. That is $300/day and I have to imagine it is fairly automated.

How do you use Amazon and Ebay?

You can read about the update online and find out all about it but let me boil it down for you.

Google wants to clean up all the websites that really don’t provide anything original or valuable. You know the kind of sites I am talking about, a couple pages, stuffed with keywords and if you read the content it is all sales verbiage with no real value.

The Internet has become like a vast junkyard and Google wants to keep those websites out of their search results or at least move them to the bottom.

This is really good news for people that like to offer valuable content to help inform people.

My personal traffic for this site tripled as a result of the update and I did nothing else to earn it. As a matter of fact you can see how remiss I have been for updating my blog while I continue to build content rich sites in the niche markets that I work in.

So if you are offering what you will read and hear over and over and that is VALUABLE CONTENT you will have nothing to worry about. Google wants to put those kind of websites closer if not at the top of the search engine results.

In short, the Google Panda Update is good news to those who are not taking shortcuts and trying to just make money with grey hat if not black hat methods.

I did everything I could think of from WP plugins, images, html code and other things to “clean up” the pages so I could get a faster load. Nothing seemed to be working.

I knew that a slow page load like this would cause some people to not wait and move on to another website. I did not want to lose the traffic and so I really put it to GoDaddy and it because clear that I was getting the run around from some of them.

I first realized my site was slow when I was using it but then I was running some site optimization software, IBP, and I love it. It has put me on page 1 with numerous keywords in a number of niche markets. Anyhow, it told me my server response time was slow so I also checked with an online website that tests website speeds and it was real bad… the website I used was http://www.host-tracker.com.

So the solution? Lose money? Nah… I switched my hosting to HostGator

Now it is lightening fast, from an average global load time of 23 seconds to 3 seconds.

Do you know how fast your server is responding? It is important if you want people to stick around your site.

Anyone who has done online marketing for awhile knows that you need to have an organized system in place so you can rinse and repeat. That is what I have been refining and so here is one of the results. I was able to create a fairly simple WP blog with 4 posts, of course I did my niche and keyword research. I choose to go after a product name which has great potential and tend to be the harder keywords to rank for. I also did a fairly aggressive, semi-manual backlinking program.

Right now it has been about 2 weeks and I am ranked 4th on Google and have made over $200 in sales. No PPC… Just good ole SEO.

The search volume is about 6600/month so it is not huge but do 20-30 more sites and it gets exciting.

I am still fine tuning some of my system and then I hope to make it available.

I will leave you with this one nugget… Traffic Travis is an absolute must for keyword research as well as on-page SEO.

You will find the right place by going to the Writing tab under Settings. Towards the bottom of the page you will see a box that will most likely have pingomatic in it. Just delete that and paste this list in and you will be likely to get indexed faster by Google and other search engines.

1. Brainstorm 5 Top Keywords
When you start your personal domain name search, it helps to have 5 terms or phrases in mind that best describe the domain you’re seeking as it relates to the kind of website or blog that you intend to have. Once you have this list, you can start to pair them or add prefixes & suffixes to create good domain name ideas. For example, if you will be operating a mortgage industry related website or blog then you may want to begin with words like “mortgage, finance, home equity, interest rate or house payment” then work the words around until you can find a good match.

2. Make the Domain Name Unique
If you have your website name similar to a popular site already owned by someone else it is a recipe for disaster. Thus, you should never choose domain names that are just the plural, hyphenated or misspelled version of an already established domain. I hear kids in their 20′s tell parents in their 40′s and 50′s to see photos on Flickr and always envision that traffic going straight to the wrong domain.

3. Only Choose Dot-Com Available Domains
If you’re not concerned with type-in traffic, branding or name recognition, you don’t need to worry about this one. However, if you’re at all serious about building a successful website over the long-term, you should be worried about all of these elements, and while directing traffic to a .net or .org (as SEOmoz does) is fine, owning and 301′ing the .com is critical. With the exception of the very tech-savvy, most people who use the web still make the automatic assumption that .com is all that’s out there – don’t make the mistake of locking out or losing traffic to these folks.

4. Make it Easy to Type
If a domain name requires detailed attention to type the name in correctly, due to unusual spelling, length or the use of non-memorable words or sounds, you’ve lost a good portion of your branding and marketing value. I’ve even heard usability folks talk about the value of having the characters include easy-to-type letters, which I interpret as avoiding “q,” “z,” “x,” “c,” and “p”.

5. Make it Easy to Remember
Remember that word-of-mouth and search engine dominance marketing (where your domain consistently comes up for industry-related searches) both rely on the ease with which the domain can be called to mind. You don’t want to be the company with the terrific website that no one can ever remember to tell their friends about because they can’t remember the domain name.

6. Keep the Name as Short as Possible
Short names are easy to type and easy to remember (the previous two rules). They also allow for more characters in the URL in the search engines and a better fit on business cards and other offline media.

7. Create and Fulfill Expectations
When someone hears about your domain name for the first time, they should be able to instantly and accurately guess at the type of content that might be found there. That’s why I love domain names like Hotmail.com, CareerBuilder.com, AutoTrader.com and WebMD.com. Domains like Monster.com, Amazon.com and Zillow.com (whom I usually praise) required far more branding because of their un-intuitive names.

8. Avoid Copyright Infringement
This is a mistake that isn’t made too often, but can kill a great domain and a great company when it does. To be sure you’re not infringing on anyone’s copyright with your site’s name, visit Copyright.Gov and make sure you are ok before you buy.

9. Set Yourself Apart with a Brand
Using a unique moniker is a great way to build additional value with your domain name. A “brand” is more than just a combination of words, which is why names like mortgageforyourhome.com or shoesandboots.com aren’t as compelling as branded names like bankrate.com or lendingtree.com. SEOmoz itself is a good example – “SEO” does a good job of explaining the industry we’re in and creating expectations, while “moz” gives a web association, and an association with being free, open, and community-driven.

10. Reject Hyphens and Numbers
Both hyphens and numbers make it hard to give your domain name verbally and falls down on being easy to remember or type. I’d suggest not using spelled-out or roman numerals in domains, as both can be confusing and mistaken for the other.

11. Don’t Follow the Latest Trends
Website names that rely on odd mis-spellings (like many Web 2.0 style sites), multiple hyphens (like the SEO-optimized domains of the early 2000′s), or uninspiring short adjectives (like “top…x,” “best…x,” “hot…x”) aren’t always the best choice. This isn’t a hard and fast rule, but in the world of naming conventions in general, if everyone else is doing it, that doesn’t mean it’s a surefire strategy. Just look at all the people who named their businesses “AAA… x” over the last 50 years to be first in the phone book; how many Fortune 2000′s are named “AAA company?”

Needless to say he bought the domain name and I did the same to my sister who graduated from Dartmouth University. As a matter of fact my brother Blade will be having his first child with his beautiful wife Megan and I reminded him to make sure the domain name is available for their baby before naming him or her. That is kind of a joke but having your name as a dot com really is important these days. I have purchased the domain names for all the members of my family, it is a small investment ($10/year) to have the best possible real estate.

Now apart from having your own name as a dot com domain there are several reasons why you should have a personal domain name for blogs or any other promotional things you do online. I know a lot of people will get a Blogger, WordPress or some other kind of blog but ultimately they will control that domain name and if after years you have a lot of people that are visiting your site, which can mean a source of income, it can all disappear if that company is sold or goes out of business. A good domain name is like good real estate and in the past and still today some people make a lot of money selling domain names. The one that I will always remember is business dot com selling for over one million dollars.

Here are some more important reasons that you should own your own domain name for almost anything you may do online.

Professional – When you have your own domain name you have a much more professional image. For example instead of sending people to (www dot domainname dot com/robertdiaz) you can send them to www dot RobertDiaz dot com. Even in the case of Blogger or WordPress you can have your own domain name and simply forward it to your blog.

Memorable – Apart from being more professional it is also easier to remember allowing people to meet you, be told your domain name and they will be more apt to remember it. A domain name like www dot put your car on the pill dot com would be easier to remember than some long company name and your name tacked onto the end of it.

Length – Bigger is not always better. It is likely that if you choose your own domain name you will be able to keep the number of characters to a fewer number so it would fit better on a business card and other promotional marketing material you would use.

In addition to those key benefits you will have the opportunity to have an email address with your domain as part of it. This will look more professional than using a free email service like hotmail, msn, yahoo or gmail.

As an example your email address would be joe at joes business dot com instead of joesbusiness at hotmail dot com.

In conclusion I do hope you see the importance of having you own personal domain name. It looks more professional, it is easier to remember and can frequently be shorter than a company providing a domain name for you. When I do start to get the confirmation emails that my article has been accepted I should also social bookmark all those article URLs. So you can literally get hundreds of article sites posting your content and the best practice is to bookmark every article URL. That is a lot of work if you have ever tried to do all the social bookmarking manually.

Of course there are some free social bookmarking services on the Internet that allow you to post your URL to social bookmarking sites. The best service out there will post to about 79 sites for you, almost automatically and for FREE. OF course you do need to set up all the social bookmarking accounts, which can take hours and hours and think if you actually want to set up more than one account, what a drag just thinking about it.

If you are good with your SEO then you are also creating pages on Wikis and other content sites. Those of course need to be bookmarked as well. Pretty soon it becomes quite evident that if you can automate any part of this process it will save you hours of time that you could be writing content or something you enjoy more than the repetitious work of account creation and URL submissions. Honestly, it is not the most enjoyable task for me.

The good news is that there are programs that will automate your social bookmarking for you. I have recently been looking for the right social bookmarking tool to purchase. Currently I use the free online versions but with all of those links to bookmark I will install a program, set it up and let my PC sit and work while I create on the Mac.

Choosing the right social bookmarking software is real important and so I will list the features that you need to look for in a bookmarking program.

Cost – I have heard some people squawk about the cost of the better social bookmarking programs on the market but they obviously are not social bookmarking the way they should be because if they were they would realize that they would save thousands of dollars in time by automating this process.

Generate Automatic User Accounts – If you have ever spent time creating all the social bookmarking site accounts you would know how much time is involved. There are programs that will automatically create the accounts for you. You may need to check email to confirm the account creations but you don’t have to navigate from site to site.

Random Usernames on Accounts – In conjunction with the feature above that saves time there are programs that will also generate random usernames so it appears more real.

Social Bookmark Scheduler – To look natural there is only one program I know of that will allow you to set your bookmarking tasks on a schedule. That way it appears natural.

Multiple Accounts at each Social Bookmarking Site – The program you want will allow you to manage a number of accounts at each bookmarking site. That way you can have more than one link per social bookmarking site to the same article page.

Add social bookmarking sites – Most programs will load only the main social bookmarking sites. There are hundreds of sites online and so a good program will allow you to add more sites so you can have bookmarks in as many places possible, follow or nofollow so you can get more and more traffic.

Social Bookmark Automatically – Of course you are buying this software so that more of your tasks are automated so besides automatic account creation you want to have the program post your webpage bookmarks automatically as well.

Spin the Title, Description and Tags – You want to make sure the program will not only post these three elements to your social bookmark but it will also spin the information so it is more natural.

Automatic Email Verification – When you submit your social bookmarks some of the sites will send you a confirmation email and there are some programs that will check the email account and activate the link automatically. You can only imagine the amount of time that you will save with this level of automation.

Domain Crawler – Have you been blogging for years that the thought to bookmark all your pages and posts just seems overwhelming? Well there are some programs that will crawl a website that you specify and gather up all the pages. You can then load these into the program and set up the Title, Description and Tags, schedule the bookmarking and go eat a pizza.

RSS Crawler – Some programs will even crawl RSS Feeds so you can load those into the program and bookmark the RSS feeds as well.

Automatic Pinging – Some programs offer a pinging service. Load your URLs and use it to ping them. You do want to be careful since WordPress pings your posts and if you over ping web pages they can be flagged as spamming.

Project Creation and Management – Have you ever used some software that did not save all your work? Make sure your software saves projects so you can go back to it and even export it so you can keep it safe.

Randomization Settings – To ensure that all your social bookmarking accounts are not identical (example: having the same number of outgoing links and tags), you can randomize it by specifying how many percent of your sites and tags are used for bookmarking.

Human Simulation and Anti-Bot – There is only one program that I found in my research that offers this human simulation with submission throttling and even slows down to imitate human submission. You have heard it over and over that it is best to make things look natural. The game is not to “get it down” but to “do it right”.

MultiThreading – This is common with all programs and means that they able to perform a number of tasks at the same time.

Proxy Servers – If you need to use proxy servers get software that will allow this.

Captcha – Some programs will integrate third-party services that will decaptcher captcha pages for you automatically.

In conclusion you can see that choosing from the social bookmarking tools based on price alone is a huge mistake. I have reviewed a number of the social bookmarking tools in my usual Excel spreadsheet way and I made my decision and am so happy I did and have already saved hours and hours of time. I was so excited I wanted to share this good news with other people that are in the process of making a decision.

After all my research I did decide to get the Social Bookmarking Demon and there is not question but that I would do it again.
