Four men were arrested following the abduction and sexual assault of a woman during Mardi Gras in Galveston last Sunday morning.

The 23-year-old woman was attending the celebration at Strand Entertainment Park at 1 a.m. when two men approached her and told her she had to leave because police were clearing out the area.

She started to feel uncomfortable when the two men started following her. She told them she had to sit down, hoping that they would leave her alone. When she stood up the two men pushed her into a waiting 4-door vehicle.

She told police she was raped inside of the vehicle and again at an apartment in Friendswood, TX.

She was able to escape the apartment and call police.

There are four men currently in custody charged with aggravated kidnapping.

A woman was pulled over on her way home from work last Saturday by a man who was impersonating a police officer.

Police say that the woman was driving home at 2:30pm when a black Chevy Tahoe pulled up behind her with what appeared to be police lights.

The woman pulled over and the suspect started cussing at her through her window. The suspect, who allegedly wore a holstered pistol, told her to get out and move to the front of the car. He then searched the car, leaving several items on the ground.

The man told the victim that he was going to let her off with a warning, got in his Tahoe and left.

In a gigantic waste of tax dollars that never ceases to amaze me, I have recently had an increased number of clients that were charged with Prostitution by the Houston Police Department Vice Division, and the investigations stemmed from Backpage Ads. Honestly, I cannot imagine an issue that is a bigger waste of resources by the Houston Police Department, than targeting women who advertise on backpage. Apparently, HPD is not aware of the oldest profession on earth. Perhaps a history lesson would help. Or at a minimum have a Conservative Christian read the bible to them and remind them Vice’s efforts are not going to stop something that has been going on for at least 2,000 years.

I can remember as a Prosecutor the old line was that Prostitution brought crime to the streets, lowered the value of neighborhoods, public safety, blah, blah, blah. However, NONE of that applies to the women who chose to “make themselves available” via ads on Backpage. Men, who are seeking companionship that surely they could find for free, prefer to cut through the chase and take a direct approach to satisfying their desires. Voila, backpage.

Maybe I am a lone voice screaming “stop this insanity”, but I do not see the harm in a woman, or man, over 18, making the conscious decision to provide pleasure for money.

I am proud to fight these ridiculous Prostitution cases.

A Corpus Christi woman was arrested Saturday morning after sending police on a low speed chase.

Reacting to a complaint about a suspicious person, police found Taylor Burnham wearing nothing but cowboy boots standing between a Jeep Wrangler and somebody’s back fence.

Upon seeing the police, Burnham jumped in the wrangler and lead the police on a chase that never exceeded 30mph. The chase only lasted around a mile and a half but Burnham did manage to drive on the sidewalk at one point.

Once the suspect was apprehended, a female police officer arrived on the scene to clothe the suspect. She was then given a barrage of sobriety tests which she did not pass.

Burnham was arrested for both evading arrest and driving while intoxicated.
