That’s exactly why I wrote <a href="http://github.com/mathiasbynens/noSelect-jQuery-Plugin">the noSelect plugin for jQuery</a> (also disables text selection in Internet Explorer). I find this to be very useful for UI elements, such as <code>label</code>s next to input fields. When rapidly clicking a <code>label</code>, the text gets selected. That shouldn’t happen, especially not in web apps. Sadly, IE doesn’t offer such a CSS property.
