I wrote a small shell script for avoid this:

#!/bin/sh

infodir="/sys/class/power_supply/usb"

connected=`cat $infodir/online`

if [ "0" = $connected ]
then

    setterm -blank 1 > /dev/tty0

    echo "`date` - Battery, enabled screen blanking"

else

    setterm -blank 0 > /dev/tty0

echo "`date` - Connected, disabled screen blanking"

fi

This cannot be used in a crontab (the original idea) but is useful, enjoy :)

Posted at BinaryCell

All you need to introduce you in development of videogames for iOS with cocos2d

Cocos2d programing guide (deprecated material, but basic)

01. Don’t duplicate: instance instead
02. Save time with flat projection
03. Make use of Proportional Edit
04. Use Pose Libraries for blocking
05. Use Network Render to set up an ad hoc renderfarm
06. Use Damped Track for eye tracking
07. Use sculpting to fix errors in animation
08. (osx terminal, host computer)

# sudo kextunload -b com.apple.driver.BroadcomUSBBluetoothHCIController
#sudo kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBBluetoothHCIController

The bluetooth icon in the toolbar showns broken (unable to found the device) all its fine.

Go to Virtualbox and add the device as USB in their settings panel

Enjoy with your bluetooth :)

To turn back the changes, stop the virtualmachine and use the terminal again:

# sudo kextload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBBluetoothHCIController

# sudo kextload -b com.apple.driver.BroadcomUSBBluetoothHCIController

In all wide-used operative systems today, the data between devices is transferred using DMA as transfer scheme, this method implies don't disturb the CPU between consecutive reads and dump to a buffer memory, this isolate the cpu from unwanted "attention needed" signals to cpu from device, this isolated cpu is idle at 100% of time, free for normal system use without any handycap related to read or write to device.

When you encrypt a external device memory, using trueCrypt or other "portable" encryption solutions, the application have two task to do... "read/write from device" and "encrypt/decrypt the data", this two tasks seems a serial actions, but it isn't valid with DMA's tecnology (and a really old tecnology now) in serial reads, when you copy a file or something "big" (a serie of data) the process is in paral.lel with DMA, encryption of next cluster and write current cluster can be done at same time, and the speed limit is in two points, disk access time and encryption/decryption speed.

If you device speed is 10Mb per second, you don't need to use a basic AES encryption, you can use Serpent-Twofish-AES in serial, with 60Mb per second, 6x times more speed than device itself. This is time don't used by the encryption software, sleeping, waiting for DMA inquiry. Why not use this hardware situation to protect more your data with more strong encryption algorithm without speed-down your data access?

ARM and x86 architecture supports 'nop' instruction... <strike>the use is safe for your code</strike>:

In Switch-Case statement, you can't declare variables inside, the 'cases' are translated to jump to memory address (some bytes after normally) in case of jump, the stack is not re-framed, like a simple "goto" basic instruction ("jmp" in asembler) is used to go to the correct memory address, when this instruction ends, the stack is returned "as is", with some bytes more of allocations in them, causing unexpected BAD_ACCESS & other low level errors.

Never allocate in switch case ;-) "learn from mistakes"

If our application is wide open for developers community nothings guarantee the security and your product image can be get a fast burndown for your customers.

Monkey Patch is a simple solution for this ¿why not? Wikipedia explains the moneky patch so:

A monkey patch is a way to extend or modify the run-time code of dynamic languages without altering the original source code. This process has also been described as "duck punching".[1]
src: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_patch

And this is a interesting way to hardening your external or plugin scripts:

Using namespaces to capture the basic functions:

# apt-get install build-essential php5-dev and pecl apd (advanced php debugger) [...]

A starter "jailed" (more precisely overdrived) environment of application in your framework:

<?php namespace jail
{
	require_once("security.php");
	require_once("myPlugin.php");
}
?>

"myPlugin" file acting as a unsecure code:
<?php
	$contents = file_get_contents($_GET['file']);
	if ( FALSE == $contents )
	{
		echo "err reading file";
 	}
	else
	{
		echo $contents;
	}
?>

And finally the little security layer:
<?php

function secure_file_get_contents($filename)
{
	error_log("@Filter here the string \$filename");
	return unsecure_file_get_contents($filename);
}

if ( !function_exists('rename_function') || !function_exists('override_function') )
{
	error_log("WARNING: apd pecl module don't seems be installed, unable to monitor functions");
	return;
}

rename_function('file_get_contents', 'unsecure_file_get_contents');
override_function('file_get_contents', '$filename', 'return secure_file_get_content($filename);');
?>
