Or all iPhone app developers are masochists. Or both.

Today I submit an app for approval on to the app store and it is quite the process. Creating provisioning profiles for this and that and then assigning them to the proper build configuration. Not to mention that you’re not allowed to make mistakes. If you incorrectly assign an attribute for the profile you need to create a new one and are unable to delete the incorrect one.

I finally won the little shell game and my app is awaiting review. The app was just a little exercise to help in my learning Cocoa as well as familiarizing myself with Git. Now it would just be nice if I had a Macbook Pro to code on from the living room.

Between the Canucks getting goals called back for wearing skates on the ice, Halak getting raped in his crease repeatedly and the Senators just being blatantly treated as an annoying road block to a Crosby vs. Ovechkin conference finals; these Stanley Cup playoffs have been a joke. I find it rather ironic that the Canadian Dollar reached parity with it’s US counterpart when NHL officiating has been striving for anything but.

Being a Senators fan I am probably a bit biased, but I think most can plainly see they are not even trying to hide their attempts of forcing a Pittsburgh victory. Mike Fisher’s 4-minute minor for getting cross checked in the back of the head tonight was a perfect example of this. I can’t find a great video of it now. Here is one from VS that doesn’t show the proper angle and the announcers do a poor job of trying to dismiss it as a blatant high stick and Fleury “protecting his crease”.

I finally caved. I went 18 months without jailbreaking my iPhone. Mainly because it does most things very well, and for the things it doesn’t do well or doesn’t do at all there’s the App Store. Lately Steve Jobs and I haven’t really been seeing eye to eye (Stupid iPad. Stupid Apple’s stance on Flash on mobile devices and their stance on putting Blu-ray in Macs), so I decided to take a look to see if the grass truly is greener on the other side.

While there’s not a lot of extra things that I can do with a jailbroken phone that I care about, there are a few items which are must haves now that I’ve crossed over to the dark side. I can basically sum it up in these two screenshots:

Custom themes, customizable live weather icon, battery life percentage, 5 apps in my dock and SBSettings which allows to me to toggle features on/off and kill processes. I could also add the ability to send processes to the background, but I’m not interested in that feature at the moment because with my lowly 3G it just doesn’t have the memory to handle much more.

So apparently I’m going to try blogging again, for the tenth or so time. Just signed up for hosting with DreamHost, since I let my hosting at Media Temple expire a few weeks ago. I vaguely remember something about my firstborn being part of the renewal terms. Somehow their base hosting account doubled in price since I first signed up. Oh well, DreamHost seems to be a better host overall anyway.

As I do every year around Roll Up the Rim time, I’ve picked up a daily tea habit. I’ve probably gone through roughly 25 cups and so far have come up with nada. No coffee, no cookie, not even a Timbit! I keep telling myself that it’s all building up to me winning a Matrix or Bayliner or something, but I have feeling that may be a tad delusional. I’ve had cups that are different sizes, from different stores, even in 3 different provinces, but nothing’s working.

While it doesn’t quite make up for the lack free coffees, etc. I do have some good news. Adrienne and I are buying a house. We only spent about a week actually going out to see places but we found a place in Stratford that we really like and are closing in about 10 days. For the first time in my life I will have a garage, which excites me to no end.
