In celebration of the Tony Season, the Tony Awards in partnership with Bloomingdale’s will present a Tony Award Costume Exhibit, at Bloomingdale’s in New York City.     The Costume Exhibit which will include costumes from Tony Award-winning shows through the years will be on display on the 4^th floor of Bloomingdale’s 59^th Street location, starting on Thursday, May 31^st and running until Monday, June 18^th.  Bloomingdale’s will also dedicate their Third Avenue store window, which will illuminate at night, to the Tony Awards celebration.

The Tony Award Costume Exhibit will showcase costumes from Tony Award-winning musicals, plays and designs, such as  The Phantom of the Opera, Elton John & Tim Rice’s AIDA, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Coast of Utopia, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Producers, Crazy for You and Sister Act. The collection also includes authentic Tony memorabilia, including Tony Tickets, Playbills, an actual Tony Award and more.

“The Tony Award Fashion Exhibit is a true reflection of the artistry which takes center stage each and every night on Broadway,” said Heather Hitchens, Executive Director of the American Theatre Wing.  “Bloomingdale’s has created an exquisite exhibit which highlights the fine details and master craftsmanship of the finest costume designers,” stated Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League.

The Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards honors theatre professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway.  This year marks the 66^th anniversary of the Tony Awards, which were first held on April 6, 1947 at the Waldorf Astoria’s Grand Ballroom.

The 2012 Tony Awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, will be broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Sunday, June 10^th on CBS.   The Tony Awards are presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

Pink Ribbons, Inc. (doc)

Ever since I saw this movie — which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last fall and is directed by Lea Pool– I have been obsessed. Now, since all the Komen crap over the last several months, this film is even more timely. There is no need to mince words. Cancer sucks. Breast cancer sucks. Talk to any woman who has had breast cancer and you will learn very quickly that this is nothing pretty or pink about it. Yet, what the film makes you think is that there seems to be some sort of conspiracy of pink to make breast cancer a lot less horrific than it is. When you see all the money that is put into building awareness about the disease you have to ask yourself, doesn’t everyone really already know about breast cancer? And, why is so much money being spent on raising awareness and not enough on fi nding out why the hell people get cancer in the first place. Read more.

Wish Me Away – directed by Bobbie Birleffi and Beverly Kopf (doc)

Wish Me Away is the incredibly moving coming out story of country music star Chely Wright. When I read a little over a year ago that Wright (who I did not know at the time) had come out my first reaction was “big deal.” After you watch the film you realize how difficult this process was for Wright mostly because of where she worked — Nashville. Don’t forget how horribly the Dixie Chicks were treated in Nashville not too long ago for public statements they made about the rush to got to war with Iraq. It’s a tough and very conservative town. Chely was the first high profile country performer to come out, something she had to do to save her life, and sadly, not for her, but for country music, she has now been forced to embark on a new life post Nashville. She’s not getting the invites to the Grand Ole Opry House, but she is showing up at gay and lesbian centers across the country standing up for herself and the gay community. Read more.

Snow White and the Huntsman

If you have to deal with another version of Snow White (which I don’t understand why we do) you would think that a kick-ass Snow White might be the answer to your prayers. Not so much. Kristen Stewart plays the princess held in the tower by the evil Queen Ravenna played by Charlize Theron. The queen keeps her power and hold on the kingdom — including her obsession with being the fairest of them all — by living off the blood of young girls. Charlize looks gorgeous and is exquisitely costumed yet has really not much to do aside from screaming “Get Me Snow White” to her creepy albino like brother with a very bad haircut. Read more.

Madonna‘s MDNA tour kicked off in Israel. The major buzz about the show is about the debut of her son Rocco who appears on stage.

The 11-year-old is clearly comfortable in front of a crowd – Madonna performed in front of sold out crowd of more than 35,000 screaming fans. Like his pop star mother, he seems comfortable with costume changes too, sporting three different looks during the show, including flowing, priest-like robes, a sparkling blue tank and headphones and an all-black number.
And while he may have gotten his looks from his father – he’s practically a mini-me of film director papa Guy Ritchie – he gets his moves from mom, and wowed the crowd with a dance routine, something he also did last year at the after party for Madonna’s Macy’s clothing line launch. [via]

Justin Bieber suffered a head injury when he walked into glass while backstage at a concert in Paris. The teen heartthrob told TMZ that he didn’t have luck with glass doors after he hit his head. Justin still hasn’t fully recovered from the mayhem in Norway. A state of emergency was almost called when his fans caused a chaotic scene in the street.

The “Boyfriend” singer suffered a concussion Thursday after running into a glass wall during his concert in Paris.
Bieber slammed his head into the partition while reaching for a railing on the other side of the glass backstage in between songs, the 18-year-old pop star told TMZ.
“It really hurt and I felt a little light headed but my adrenaline, I feel, pushed me through it and I performed the last song,” Bieber told the gossip site. “After that I went backstage and immediately felt a little week and I passed out for 15 seconds.”
Hours after the incident, Bieber’s wits seemed unharmed by his head trauma.
“i’m Canadian. we are tough. lol. its all good,” Bieber tweeted Thursday. “just gotta take it easy the rest of the night. back at it again for u guys tomorrow. thanks.”[via]
