Another metric by which Davao City can proudly affirm her status as a major player in Philippine industry is the Philippine Cities Competitiveness Ranking Program (PCCRP) of the Policy Center of the Asian Institute of Management. Results of the PCCRP’s biennial study (2007), presented in Makati last 4 July 2008, declare that Davao ranks Number 1 in the metro cities category.

This flagship research project by the AIM, established in 1999, is conducted every two years, and has since become a benchmark of Philippine cities’ overall economic standing. To quote the AIM:

…the Program envisions to promote national competitiveness by encouraging healthy competition among highly urbanized and emerging cities, emphasizing the crucial roles of small and medium enterprises as the backbone of local development. By gathering and compiling strategic data and providing focused analyses of the results, the PCCRP also seeks to cultivate competitive industries, promote healthy communities and maximize the economic potentials of the cities.

This should be another reason for Dabawenyos to be proud of their beloved city. And it should be one more indicator of just how viable Davao is as an investment destination.

I have recently been to Lapu-Lapu, Makati and Quezon City, and the progress in those cities is clearly evident. Still, Davao City tops them all in the 2007 survey. The PCCRP includes the following criteria in its study: dynamism of local economy, cost of doing business, infrastructure, human resources and training, responsiveness of LGU to business needs and quality of life.

Dynamism of local economy / Cost of doing business / Infrastructure. There certainly is much dynamism in Davao’s local economy, as evidenced by an ongoing construction boom, and the entry of new industry players such as call centers and other BPO operators.

Human resources and training. Davao is a favorite hunting ground among headhunters, and the hiring rate of Dabawenyos is reportedly high. Call centers (e.g., Concentrix and People Support) view their Davao staff as highly trainable.

Responsiveness of LGU to business needs. Davao’s local government is the first to establish a "911" emergency response service, which is being supported by the Davao Light and Power Company. Aside from this, the LGU maintains very good working relationships with private enterprises and organizations.

Quality of life. Just read this blog and my readers’ comments… Need I say more?

Thank you to Councilor Pete Laviña for alerting us to this piece of news! It’s something all Dabawenyo bloggers should proudly post about!

Are you going to Europe soon? I’m sure most of you are planning your summer vacation already! And I know that you are looking forward to that trip! Right? Why not travel to Europe? Because I was just looking through this Prague Hotels and wish we can go there now! And avail those fab deals! Since they have a very affordable prices, I think you can go places too! Supposed to have our European tour next month but changed our plan at the last minute since we have ongoing house renovations and I have been traveling around the Philippines and I went back to Tokyo between this long vacation. I’m sure we can go there someday. But with this Rome Hotels, you can save some for another Europe destination! There is this Paris Hotels too that I am drooling! Sigh..

Anyway, for now I will just dream that I am there! haha I think looking to that site gives me ideas on what to do and see when we get there though! So, it’s still a good thing:) But try to check out those links because great deals like that doesn’t come that easy! If ever our plan will push through late this year or next year summer, I’m definitely checking out that travel site as well!

Fox News channel quickly materializes into view, with tele-genic hosts delivering in soft and modulated cadence. Up to the minute streaming news and human interest stories parade through one’s ken, presented in typically very soothing fashion allowing one the feeling to sit back comfortably, create a calming atmosphere around the electronic presence, and generally feel good about the world. (Okay, maybe not the last phrase.)

Another Click. And comes the screechy high-pitched voices of newscasters and program hosts, giving an almost caricatured and very loud rendition of news reporting or program hosting. Jolting one to sit nervously on edge, and maybe run reflexively for the remote to reduce volume.

A world of difference?

Wrenched from my adopted country of almost 30 years and living again in the old homeland for the last three months, I do need to be kept abreast of the news (and maybe, scandals) on both coasts, for very understandable personal reasons.

Cable TV affords one that convenience of surfing not only through local channels, but through many of the international channels as well. From CNN, to BBC, and to the local upstart, Fox News.

One cannot help but compare how news and messages are delivered from two sources separated by a wide ocean and thousands of miles apart. Differences abound not only in the language that they are delivered, but also in how news/messages are articulated over the air ostensibly for the listening delight of the listeners. Although, local news and programs are also done in English and at times in a combination of both, called locally under the euphemism of Taglish (Tagalog interspersed with English, or vice-versa).

Locally, to bring across passion, commitment, seriousness and deliberateness it almost seems like the “town crier” has to shout every word, with almost unnatural modulation, and definitely, loud voice. Live programs with audience participation are almost always a shrieking cacophony of shouting matches from hosts to audience, from light banter exchanges to ad-libbed live ads.

Why so loud with each talker holding on to the best sounding microphones very close to the mouth, one is left to ponder. And tossing one at sea in bewilderment.

Is it too much to expect from producers of shows or the hosts themselves to understand that delivery is very critical in bringing across from studio to listeners whatever messages they are trying to convey?

That shouting them, especially in unison and cadence with others only serves to audibly blur the messages, or worst muffle them badly as to be lost to or even misunderstood by the listeners?

Haven’t the ever vigilant and money-wise advertisers not wakened up to this, and politely requested for subtle changes in how their messages are articulated and delivered electronically?

But hey, maybe I am wrong. Very dead wrong. Maybe there is deliberate method to this seeming madness. Maybe surveys have determined this is the best way to deliver not only messages to the Filipino listener, but also to show commitment, passion, and deliberateness.

Whatever it is, please do not shout at me!

I am just wondering aloud.

an old essay i sat on for a couple of weeks... took me some time to polish, but here it is...

#################################

saturday morning dawned cold, wet, and windy. evening had been terrible. the storm signal no. 2 winds drove the rain to seep through the windows, drenching half my bed. the whole night my blanket and my pillows were all giving me moist reminders of my misery as the wind howled outside. some water had even engulfed part of the floor of my room, and i had to enlist the help of all the rags and old, torn t-shirts i could muster to stem the deluge. but at least, this morning, frank's worst had already passed us.

but then frank had not yet totally left. it was still too rainy and windy to make any trip outside comfortable. and my room, already a mess before frank came roaring, was now a disaster area. books stacked higgledy-piggledy to avoid getting wet, scattered stacks of yesterday's news, various pieces of plastic that used to hold old purchases, random papers and magazines. piled on my little table were receipts of long ago transactions, old electricity and credit card bills, empty deodorant and rubbing alcohol bottles, more pieces of plastic, expired mcdonald's coupons; in short, the beginnings of a mountain of garbage. to top it all off, soaked rags all over the floor, the curtains dripping wet, and on the corner of our roof, a loose iron sheet moaning its fragility.

and not just the state of my room, but also the state of my head; the rain had not just seeped through the windows to drench my bed, my pillows, my blanket, and my floor, it also flooded my brain, soaking my bones, drowning my lungs with helplessness. there i was reduced to a distraught shivering wreck, desperate to escape the disaster of my room, yet too scared to face what remained of frank outside. something had to be done: defy nature to escape my more immediate horrors, or fix my room. the answer was obvious.

as to how i allowed my room to reach this state of desperation, i can't really say. or maybe i'm just too ashamed to admit. this time, driven to the edge of insanity, i was forced to fight back one way or another. since i was no match against nature, it had to be my personal mess that i should confront.

first off, i had to wipe off all the water that had overrun the floor, then take out all the wet rags. my floor now reasonably dry, i turned my attention to the most visible mess: my books. after sorting them into three tidy stacks, it was on to sorting everything else: the magazines and the old newspapers, the old receipts and bills, the little pieces of plastic and trash, each in their own pile.

but sorting revealed a new problem: i had no more space. the contents of my crowded shelves were just groaning with the effects of overpopulation. a revolution was inevitable: i had to throw things out. now came the hard part.

first the old receipts and pieces of plastic, the expired mcdonald's coupons, and the empty plastic bottles, all had to go. these little pieces of trash were the easiest, yet, ultimately inconsequential: i still couldn't create enough space. i had to throw the old newspapers away.

i had to be careful though. some of the issues here had my articles printed on them, and some with memorable essays that i had formed an attachment to. an ardous hour of sorting and checking, separating what to keep from what had to be thrown away, and i was done. my trash can couldn't have been any happier.

i ponder over the contents my trash can, and over the stack of old newspapers. why is it that i hang on to all this trash for so long? why is it so hard to just... let go?

my room finally having achieved a semblance of order, my body sweating, my hands dusty, the tips of my fingernails blackened by the dirt that i scraped off the skin of my arms, and yet oddly, i felt clean: as clean as having taken a thousand baths, as clean as emptying my bowels of all literal and metaphorical shit, as clean as having all my sins forgiven. no wonder they say cleanliness is next to godliness: the act of cleaning up is, in itself, a religious experience.

i sat on my chair (which had also been cleared of its own share of chaos) and surveyed the restored glory of my personal sanctuary, then thought to myself: let frank blow what fury it has left my way, i no longer care. i had my room back. and it took a storm to make me look inside and clean up my own mess.

Since I was really anticipating for so many months to go on Bible Study, but I have so many reasons not to go, I just can’t understand why I ended up not going, but today I have manage to have my first visit.

I text dux “I’m ready, see you at the Calvary” she replied happily “yey! See you”

Anyway, I was quite nervous being myself, but on the other hand I’m very sure it was right thing to do.
When I arrive at the place, I wasn’t sure where’s the entrance, it was seem to be closed but I can hear some singing, then someone from the inside opened the door, I entered quietly with smile, then she gave me a small pamphlet, offered me a sit, I didn’t sit right away but instead look around getting familiar with the place and text Dux I’m already here. She already text me before hand that she is in charge at the projector so I know she was the lady in the projector (^_^) although I wanted to sit at the front but its too much for a first visit being in front right away!
July 5, 2008 Saturday:
Yesterday, (bale July 4) I’m happy to receive an information from Cesar Noel about the seminar to be held July 5, Saturday around 1:00pm to 7:00pm since it was Saturday afternoon it was 90% sure I can attend although on the back of my mind I have 10% of saying “not to attend” as I want to reserve energy for Sunday at Calvary which is my first time to attend too.

Anyway, going back to the main topic: Seminar at NCCC Mall of Davao 4th floor AmpiTheater or is it 1st floor activity center?
Which is which! In that witch I mean which (^_^) gave me the feeling of “high in ecstasy of excitement to falling from Mt. Apo”

Here’s what happen: maaga pa lang, I was really excited to go to NCCC Mall of Davao I made it assure that most of my officemates will attend para bibo and I told them thru chat will text you on my smart sim number, I told them I used it occasionally because this is the SMART SIM I used way back in college when I was so active in activities since all of the members are using SMART SIM they would prefer to text same network because of unlimited service.
(hindi ko binili etong super sim3 from SMART, I wish to have a SMART SIM for peer counselor’s, then all of the sudden SMART text me on my Globe number, that “I have one SMART super SIM3 since am one of the loyal subscribers of Globe (more than 5yrs) they are asking my full address and the SIM will be mailed, hesitant of course, I didn’t gave them our home address instead I gave them mailbox address in our school, (since I was an officer at our university parati ako nasa Guidance Office I will know if there are new mails before they post the names)

Going back again in the seminar: wahahaha! NCCC Mall of Davao
So ayon na nga! Morning of July 5, I communicate with officemates… most of them replied back saying they will attend, and one which is more excited than me na parang pareho kami sobrang excited he told me he will surely attend, ayon! I was so happy yey! Madami kaming a-attend. I ate my breakfast around 9:30am para hindi na ako mag-lunch kasi malayo yun NCCC Mall of Davao Ma-a siya, from our house almost one 45mins yun byahe so dapat aalis ako 12noon para makarating ako at least 12:30 kung hindi traffic…
I came there around 12:30, before hand I already received a text asking me “Sis, where is the venue here” I replied “sa taas 4th floor un parang convention hall mag elevator ka para madali and please reserve sit na for me please I’m now on my second jeep I will be there in 10mins time” he didn’t replied…
then malapit na ako NCCC Mall of Davao, I received Cesar text asking if me and the officemates are going, I replied him “nan dito na nga ako yah and yes sure sila attend”

Nan doon na nga ako NCCC Mall of Davao so I text my officemate “I’m here at chowking 1st floor san kana, did you saw the venue?” he replied “puntahan kita dyan” I was surprise telling myself “WHAT!!! anong puntahan, bakit mo ako pupuntahan dapat naka register kana at least para mayron kana ma reserve na sit” but instead I replied him “ok w8tn d2”
Siguro 1min lang he was there in front of me telling asking “sis, I really can’t find it, san bah talaga?” so I was very sure where it was kasi its really not my first time to attend on seminar at NCCC Mall of Davao,

He told me while we were walking that, you see the last time I attended seminar sa 4th floor man yun siya, pero lahi ra gyud karon bah” nasa elevator na kaming dalawa I text my other officemates I’m now going to the venue nasa NCCC Mall of Davao asking them where they are…etc… may nag reply, “san bah talaga venue?” hindi muna ako nag reply not until I will be there at the venue to be sure, nasa 4th floor na nga kami waa! To my surprise, I told him, iba lagi ang itchura dari, anong nangyari dito Parang iba lagi,

So anyway padayon lang gyapon kami, nakita ko yun place it was empty! Nothing was there except 3 guards asking us “where are you going mam /sir?” so I replied right away “sa Seminar yun Cyber Expo” the guard replied “oh its on the 1st floor sa activity center” I thought “ngee! Activity center nakita ko yun ha magulo doon maingay, anong seminar doon gagawain?!”

then my friend replied “sure siya doon gagawain parang wala man upoan doon” tapos nag reply yung guard “actually I really don’t think there was seminar there, kasi contest of games yun, 50pesos entrance then you can win 25k to 100k prizes” my thoughts were “waaa ganon!!!”

I replied him “sure kasi ako na seminar yun attendnan namin baka may iba pang place dito na venue for that” the guard replied “I really don’t know ma’am NO information for that we all know the event will be July 4 to 7 it was just gaming contest and nothing more”
So umalis nalang kaming dalawa, while walking we talked “baka hindi ngayon yung date or baka maling mall yung na post doon etc…”
We went to 3rd floor go around the whole 3rd floor of NCCC Mall of Davao hanggang dulo wala talagang NO venue for that
Punta ulit ng 2nd floor wala parin
Until we were there at 1st floor at activity center again!, we observe and look at the area inikot talaga naming dalawa, I asked him with a smile “care to play games” and he replied with laugh “waa! Wla ko plano nalagot na ko” I told him “ako din actually deep inside me I felt like falling from Mt. Apo bah excited bya ko ka’ayo ganina tapos ano man eto oi ang gulo ha!” and he replied “ako pud murag waaa!” he even describe thru actions how his excitement was drop dead!

Until such we looked for a place to sit ended up at the food court. I communicate with my officemates dami ko nang na receive na text messages I didn’t reply right away gusto ko ma sure muna bago ako mag reply, they were asking where I was, san yun venue etc… pupunta na sila,

so I replied one by one, “nah! Walay klaro dari oi, naa ko food court kita tayo dito usap nalang tayo personal” there at the food court we all talked joking around about the venue and the seminar “baka un 3D painting at wall kasi yung 4th floor ngayon under-renovation baka yun ang seminar how to pain in 3D at wall since it was all bare!” tapos “yung alikabok doon CMS na yun ang gagawain Code for Drupal, Joomla and WordPress, mao na to siya”

waaa!!! we were laughing our nuisance away to calm ourselves then one said “charge to experience! Hindi na gyud ko ani bah makalagot charge to experience gyud ni” I just told them actually I’m texting Cesar now “wait lang ta” me and Cesar argued at text he said “sa 4th floor lang ice katong dati gud AmpiTheater” hindi na ako nag reply kasi nainis ako tapos I receive another text from cesar saying “nan dito pala ako sa G/F sa may jollibee kita tayo dito” someone joke around, then I replied a joke “unsa na siya mag seminar ta jollibee! Tapos libre merrienda?!”
I asked them punta daw tayo jollibee? They replied “nah doon na kami galing bah wla baya,
An officemate text me saying “he is now at jollibee kausap niya cesar wla pa man daw start yun seminar hintayin matapos un games”

Waa! Noon nalaman ng mga kasamahan ko hintayin matapos un games all of them wanted “NOT to GO anymore” because it was very clear 1pm then what time na! its almost 2:30pm, ako din naiinis narin walay klaro!...

so I text cesar about what my insights was, close narin kami to tell each other honestly, what cesar did was to call my mobile, he told me “punta nalang lagi doon bah kay naa lagi seminar, sabi ko walay klaro, sabi niya, klaro lagi naa na baya si Ria dito, sa akoa isip “well I really don’t see any sits or any banner that says seminar it only says GAMING Contest!”
So I told cesar “text mo nalang where kami punta kasi maingay I can’t hear you well” so he text me… I told that to my officemates, what will be our decisions, one says I want to go to the movies, the other says mamasyal nalang kami oi saying oras, then another says “hay nah nahulog gyud ako sa expectations ko hindi ko akalain ganito excited pa naman ako” I replied same here wala pa akong lunch kasi sobrang excited 9:30am baya ako last kumain

Some officemates at the 1st floor telling me meron daw pero hindi pa nag start… last decision was mine they were waiting what will be our moves…

so I trusted my instinct and said “tara! Kausapin ko muna Cesar personal para magkaintindihan, Lets give him one chance tara! Tingnan natin kung ano bah talaga tapos kung wala gyud malaman man yan sa estorya namin ni Cesar then we can all go where we want to go tara! Dali, baba nalang muna tayo”

So there nagkita kami ni Cesar, medyo nakasimangot gyud siya ai, ako man din ganon mukha, pero I told myself “temper temper control your temper its really not Cesar’s fault he is not even the organizer” I kept telling that to myself because I really don’t want to blame Cesar for anything and I definitely want to control the words that will go out of my mouth since my temper is really high and we are on public place and again it is NOT Cesar’s Fault.

I let Cesar talk first, listen and ask him few question, then I looked at my officemates sense if they are also listening to Cesar, since I sense there are little bit of chance about 30% they really wanted to see the Seminar, I said to Cesar “sige kung papasok kami ngayon dito bale may upuan talaga doon walang bayad or anything then may Seminar gyud?” he said “yes tanawa nalang, naa na didto sila Ma’am Ivy” I replied “sige ok pasok na kami yah ha”, and I also text my other officemates I’m at the “venue”, now waiting to start.

But I receive a feedback saying “the place is really inappropriate for seminar it's really noisy ha! Ano mag sabi muna na to all gamers please be silent may seminar ganon?” ako ay natawa sa feedback niya! (^_^) may point talaga siya promise!

I replied “hmm sabi pataposin daw un games, matapos na maya2x” somebody replied “hay nako naga games baya ako matagal gyud matapos ang games”

Actually my allergies' activating since the place is very dusty and aircon tubes are present so I need to breathe myself and I’m very hungry na! 3pm na baya!

Me and Joy decided to go out and eat first, I also told myself my temper is still at hand, nakakainis ha! Sabi ko dali joy kain muna tayo alis muna tayo…
But actually at the back of my mind 50/50 chance of going back coz it’s really noisy and dusty

Then the only thing that let me go back there was the text from Francis and Cesar saying nag start na 3D animation so joy and I got back in there.

Waaa! Ang ingay parin can’t understand well, but anyway since we are computer literate we can understand nalang; with the projector all the steps was illustrated.

I was sneezing every now and then, my allergies are activated gggrrrrr, just controlling it not to cough, I told myself after joomla aalis na ako I’m 100% sure hindi ko na kaya taposin eto waaa!

Suddenly, my mobile rang; an officemate called, asking “how was the seminar” I replied “oh gosh I’m at the back seat can’t understand well it’s very noisy in here because of gaming parang palenke!”,
my officemate said “sige dili nalang siguro ako punta”,
I said “oh sige, pero ok lang magpunta ka wag ka lang mag expect”
We said goodbye and ended our conversation.

Sorry ha, I told my seat mate, I’m just telling the truth, kapag magsabi ko punta ka maganda it means it’s really worth it.

On the brighter side!

There were books given away Adobe Photoshop Elements for Dummies, but I got the feeling those books was intended for students.
Also T-shirts were given to selected few, and I was lucky to have a pen from Acrobat because of my smile. ahihihih Pretty smile daw! (^_^)

Sorry, I don’t have any pictures taken at the event, but I do have recordings of speech from Adobe Acrobat and Joomla (Jun Macarambon), sayang talaga hindi ko narinig yung kay Blogie about wordpress I just told Cesar “sawa na ako wordpress” since it was always my client’s projects but I do want to listen to Blogie’s presentation but then since I have recently develop an allergies;
Number One reason: my allergies’ getting worse I can’t breathe well…
Second someone text me about the disability day this coming July 17 (as an ADAP member Assoc. of Differently Able Person) they wanted me to at least know what are the new republic act 9442 for person with disabilities.

After Jun Macarambon presentation, I decided to withdraw some money because I really need to buy medicine for my allergies (again!

Sam’s brother Rowley, also known as Bunso, and who was witness to our wedding, is getting married. And it’s about time too. Sam and his brothers seem to have the monopoly on tying the knot way past the age of 30. Maybe it’s because they had such a cared-for childhood and finding a girl “just like mom” proved to be almost impossible. Good thing Bunso found Eva.

As weddings in the family went it was up to Sam and me to come up with ideas on invitations and giveaways. The primary consideration was cost. This was not going to be an engrande wedding ceremony–civil rites followed by the reception at the venue itself, but invitations had to be made and mementos had to be decided on. And this is what we came up with.

The large ribboned item on the left is the invitation for the eight sponsors. It was printed on 8.5 * 13 scented board from an injet printer. The smaller invitation just below it is for friends and associates. Accordion folded 200 GSM board for laser printers, it’s bright white and brings to the fore the red, grey and black colors of the print.

The CD mementos are a collection of 16 Tagalog romantic and symbolic activist songs by such artists as Noel Cabangon, Joey Ayala and individual members of the group Asin. We made 100 copies of these. Bunso and Eva decided on the CD’s instead of the traditional figurine adorned with ribbons and beads, which were actually going to be more expensive than the CD’s and less useful. Listening to the selections on Rowley and Eva’s memento CD will either make you understand activism in the Philippines or turn you into one.

CD’s, labels and jewel cases are readily (and quite affordably) available from your nearest CD-R King outlet. The one in SM Sucat is the one I like best, as it does not have the long lines of customers in the other branches.

Whenever we make things like this Sam and I always recall how our wedding had been. Civil ceremonies and then pancit malabon, Coke and ice cream afterwards at home. Sam’s immediate family was there. Both my kids were there too. No invitations, just text messages announcing the fact, after the wedding to my close friends and former colleagues that I had tied the knot (again! hindi na nagtanda…) No personalized gifts or giveaways, we didn’t have money for that. In fact we almost didn’t have enough money for the pancit, I think the family pooled their resources just so we’d have something to celebrate with. I didn’t even have a real wedding dress, as I was eight months pregnant with Maia so I had this striped maternity dress on instead (at least it was new). Yeah, kawawa naman kami at the time.

But enough of that. In a few days it will be Rowley and Eva’s big day. Maligayang pagbati sa araw ng inyong kasal!

for those of us working class who take the fx every morning, probably knows the feeling of waiting in line to get to that ubiquitous air-conditioned work who will ferry us to work with the least smell of smoke and sweat.

its been almost a year since i have been lining up at the suki market to get to makati. for that amount of time of queueing, you get to notice some people already. familiar faces, familiar actions that for one way or the other, i have began to assign code names so that i can tell stories of these people.

so there were these four ladies who turned out to be my favorites. let us describe them.

singitera # 1 is on the heavy side. she has a perpetual cough and and twitches her head from side to side.

singitera # 2 looks like singitera # 1. she looks like she's her sister. and they arrive together all the time.

singitera # 3 has short hair and gets off at cash and carry. she usually arrives early and lets singitera #1 and #2 in her line. once they come in.

singitera # 4 has long hair and usually wears a shade of purple that i do not understand. she is usually the most talkative among the four.

in the past two weeks, i have been promising myself that these ladies would hear something from me, if they get into hearing distance from me. i imagined the confrontation to be bloody, and me losing my cool, and i would be having a bad day. but every time i see them doing their thing, i get infuriated because it has been unjust for everyone who falls in line every morning. in fx lines, mrt lines or in any queue for that matter, it is always first come first served. no jumping in line. no breaking the line. that was taught to us by my grade 1 teacher. and i kinda liked mrs. fernandez so i knew that it is never right to jump in line. even if the other person is really a close friend and i am in a hurry already. i just have to line up.

and so this morning, i saw singitera #1 and #2 rushing off to pay already. and of all people behind them, it was me! i braced up. i can hear my heart thumping more violently. any time now, singitera #3 and #4 would be coming.

and i saw them singiteras coming to the singiteras already in line. i took a breath and:

me: excuse me, the line is over there.
singitera #2: a-a-a-pat ang binayaran namin.
me: oh well.

what do you do at that particular moment? do you raise hell just to uphold justice. or do you just continue to say nothing because they have grown accustomed to this already.

i chose neither. they have to know that what they are doing is wrong. and i cannot just stand there and let them have their way. someone has got to take on that task. and even if they do the same thing again. i will still tell these singiteras - the line is over there.

Recently, I found a blog to which I like its blog theme. I even check for his page that he listed his wordpress themes he made and were available for free downloads.

Check Jauhari.net for his blog posts and blog themes. And, if you find a nice theme, you can download it!

I am also thinking of making my own blog theme. I actually made one wordpress theme already that I name Obs-Orangekiss. I hope I can make another one sooner.

SULU, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / July 6, 2008) – Police accused government soldiers of arresting a Muslim man on suspicion he was a member of the al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf group in Sulu province.

Soldiers arrested the Lincoln Ahmad last week at a budget hotel inside a police base in Jolo town and freed him two days later. The man, the son of a village chieftain Norma Ahmad of Talipao town, accused soldiers of torturing him into admitting that he was an Abu Sayyaf militant.

Police said Ahmad’s family would file criminal charges against the soldiers involved in the illegal arrest. The Commission on Human Rights said it will investigate the report.

Human rights groups in the past have accused the military of violating the rights of civilians, especially during operations in Sulu province. They claimed human rights abuses are rampant in the province.

Early this year, navy and army soldiers also killed seven civilians and an off-duty infantryman in a raid on an alleged Abu Sayyaf hideout in the village of Ipil in Maimbung town.

Several soldiers were also killed and wounded in an ensuing gun battle with armed villagers and human rights investigators said there was no Abu Sayyaf militants in Ipil and that the raiders pillaged houses of civilians.

The military denied all the allegations of human rights violations and blamed leftist organizations for the false reports. (Mindanao Examiner)

my younger brother brought me the greatest chocolate mousse cake i’ve ever put in my mouth from his sushi and pastry date with another sibling. truly thoughtful, considering that we haven’t said 1 complete sentence to each other since a violent fight many months ago.

great stuff (even if it’s not that photogenic, as you can see). it’s creamy but is surprisingly very light-tasting, too—really good balance of things thrown in, ne. the best part is the nice, chalky dark chocolate undertaste...! eating the cake is like being on a fluffy cloud of chocolate mmmousse.

how i wish you could try something as heavenly for dessert today. this 1’s sooooooo good, i can’t get enough of it!!!
