Canada and the Seneca College of Applied Arts & Technology (Toronto, Canada) in association with the Frameboxx Animation & Visual Effects (Mumbai, India) invite applications/entries of animated short films by student/s from Schools of Animation in India for “Indo-Canada Student Innovation Award 2012”.

The objective of the competition is to create synergies between Canadian and Indian Education Institutes in the field of animation and visual effects and to encourage and give an opportunity to students in India to present their artistic creativity and technology.

The winning student (team leader) will receive an one week training at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology (Toronto, Canada). The return ticket valid in economy class for one person will be sponsored by the Seneca College and one week’s accommodation stay and living expenses will be sponsored by Frameboxx.

The winner will be announced during the “BAF Award Ceremony” at FICCI Frames Conference 2012 at Mumbai. The jury will consist of the Chair of the School of Animation at Seneca College (Toronto, Canada); a representative from the Consulate General of Canada in Mumbai; and senior executives of a leading production houses from Canada & India and online poll by the animation fraternity in India. The technical merit note will be balanced by an online poll drive by the animation fraternity in India.

Today NASSCOM took one more step to promote Gaming Industry in India by starting Delhi Chapter for Gaming Enthusiasts of Delhi and north India. The first session of forum was opened by Mr. Rajiv Vaishnav, vice chairman NASSCOM who has specially came from Mumbai. Then all the participants gave an introduction of theirs which ranged from CEOs of companies, freelancers, students, researchers to directors of educational institutes as well. After this Gaming experts Rajesh Rao, CEO Dhruva Interactive, Bangalore, Manvendra Shukl, Lakshya Digital, Gurgaon, Alexe of Gaming School, Pune shared their views and asked the forum members to share their views. Participants talked on various aspects of gaming. Ms. Shruti Sharan of NASSCOM, who has organized the event concluded the session with the words that we will make it a regular bi monthly affair and will discuss different topics.

Another year of gaming has been bestowed upon us. At the NASSCOM Game Developer Conference 2011 we saw that there is so much to look forward to and the Indian gaming revolution is just getting started. If only our dreams could be bigger.

As we initiate NASSCOM Gaming Forum 's inaugural Delhi meet up, we would like to invite you for the meeting. If the past is some indication, then there have not been many opportunities for either gaming companies or the enthusiasts, to bring them together and share their experiences. This platform will act as a bridge, bringing us closer to those who've been integral in making their careers in this industry, as well as interact with normal everyday gamers who may not know the first thing about gaming companies in India.

Following the tremendous response we got for Dhiman Sengupta's
'Introduction to Sound Design for Animation' during Anifest India
2011, we are happy to announce an in-depth, full day session, this
time in Pune on 7th January, 2012.

If you missed the intro at AI 2011, here is your chance to learn in
detail about sound design principles including components of sound,
types of film sound and the history of sound in animation.

Dhiman will be presenting literal and non-literal sounds, imagination
in sound design, the role of music in animation and foley, and much
more.
