I have found that it is easy to be creative once you know what you want to be creative with. What I mean to express is that finding something to be creative with is probably harder than to come up with something creative once you have picked your outlet. Art in general has always mesmerized my mushy brain, and I usually get inspired by the great things people send to us on a daily basis. It’s like being part of a well oiled pitching machine that never stops. The flavor of it may differ, but the content shared is usually up to a good standard and we archive everything like our entire venture depended on it. Well, it does, but you know what I mean.

When I saw the creativity that Carlos Zuniga, an artist based in Chile, shared through the simple means of a phone book and a marker, I was locked in a quick thought about just how someone comes up with these things. I mean, do you suddenly start to strike over things in a phone book just like that? Is there a thought pattern involved, or is it a totally random act of silliness? I guess I will have to inquire to Carlos about that; however, his art speaks of great talent for patterns.

His art, which I think anyone will find quite extraordinary, is pretty much full of portraits created using a marker in a phone book. And by striking over the names and numbers on each page, he manages to form patterns that simulate shadows and features of the faces he draws. It’s a perspective that I haven’t stumbled over before, and that I find quite intriguing. We have all heard about great code breakers who see patterns in pretty much everything. Carlos sees them in phone books, which in itself is not a little feat. Amazing!

Am I the only one that finds myself thinking about the different paths that the signals from the computer take in order to deliver the packets from my computer to the host of another website or vice versa when I am browsing the web? I mean, maybe it’s because I am so used to checking things on our own server to make sure everything is working right that I keep thinking about these odd things. Statistically, I can’t be the only one mesmerized by these flows of ones and zeros, right? After watching Tron (both the first edition released in the ’80s, and the sequel released just a couple of years ago), I have been looking at data streams like motorcycles on a light track.

I don’t know if I should take this as an answer to my above question, but Ericsson’s User Experience Lab and BERG have been working on a concept router that actually displays the streams as you browse or transfer data in your network or over the web. It’s one of those epic and useful gadgets that can totally transform the way we visualize data. I am not talking about infographics and the like here, I am talking about the raw data that is transferred in our network cables and that we most likely don’t care about once it is connected.

Enabling a map on this gadget will, as you can see, make a whole lot of sense since you can then see how your data is transferred. And if there is a bottle neck somewhere, maybe in the future you can have a few choices for where you could route it through instead. It’s a new way of thinking about some things that for the most part are done automatically today, or at least are starting to be. I am a little skeptical though about whether or not this is actually a real gadget, or just a creation in some movie software. Why? Because if you look carefully, at one point when the guy doing the demo is supposed to click a button to change the way the data is displayed, the screen actually changes before he has even touched the button. However, this is an interesting idea that I will keep a lookout for. This could solve a lot of issues debunking why a connection is so frickin slow sometimes.

Are you an ice cream fanatic of mammoth proportions? Do you sometimes feel like you have to guard that tub of ice cream with your life in order to keep it to yourself? Well, you are not alone. There are millions of people out there who feel the same way, and they go to great lengths in order to hide their ice cream from the looters who think anything is up for grabs. It’s not an easy thing to deal with, and just like with the fridge thieves, you sometimes have to accept a loss every once in a while. It’s just the name of the game it seems. But does it have to be this way? Is there nothing we can do in order to save our precious cargo from being consumed by some ice cream stranger?

Of course there is! You need to have a look at the new Euphori-Lock gadget. It’s one of those odd and quirky little things that just makes so much sense, but still it doesn’t. I don’t know if any of that made sense, but that is just how it is. In order to solve a problem that shouldn’t exist, you need to take an odd route to the solution. And this one certainly is odd, but it is also a brilliant one that I think most of us ice cream brats would happily welcome into our world.

This lock, developed by Ben & Jerry’s, should be available soon. At the time I am writing this, their site is down and under construction, which probably means that something is coming that we can look forward to. I have no clue what it will cost or if it is just a marketing stunt. Is it a cool solution to a widespread problem? Heck yeah, and I am just sitting here wishing that this badboy will actually be as real as these photos of it. I guess only the future will tell. Brighter days are ahead for all of us ice cream lovers. Mark it!
